Staff was super nice! Livers cooked correcto and fresh
tendies were hot and fries was a plenty. bushs is a waay better then that gold rooster place
I don’t typically write reviews but I had to today. Vanessa gave me exceptional customer service today when I went to pick up my lunch!
This is a great establishment helping truck drivers in this hard and difficult time. I've seen them walk out to truckers and take their order. It is simply amazing. Everytime I go they are smiling and happy. Food is great and the sweet tea is amazing
Best bush's in the waco area hands down. Nice dining area alway cool to get out of the heat. Happy hour 2-5 sweet tea less thana buck. Then there aways Tender Tuesday for a good way to do a quick din everyone enjoys.

Staff went above and beyond making sure we were satisfied with the meal. Jacob, Becca, and Mandy took great care of me!
I stood in line behind an elderly couple for 5 minutes without any one being acknowledged. Every single worker was working the drive through while there were 6 people just standing at the counter. I asked if there is anyone working the counter & was told rather sharply that they were all working as best at they can, which I understand, but a hi, we'll be right with you, goes a long way. I usually stop here going home. That will be my last time. I just left.
Got the chicken fingers, mac n cheese, coleslaw, and the softest rolls and they gave me enough for two meals for $8ish! Super good and will for sure go back. Their staff came right up as soon as I drove in.
We did the drive thru as we were travelling. The food was fresh & hot. Service was very friendly. Only about a 5 minute wait time during lunch rush on Sunday. Good job.
THE BEST CHICKEN TENDERS!!!! We bought the 16 tender family deal, (there were 20 in the box) Included 2 sides and gravy. Made 4 full meals for 2 adults and one little poodle (tenders only for poodle)....was a Great deal! We stop by EVERY time we go through traveling!

We went through the drive thru and the young lady was quick. The food was fresh and hot. Prices went up a bit from when we've eaten there last but it was ok. Everything price wise usually has been rising here lately. Oh well lol
The food is still good. The prices are a little high for me to eat there more. 3 tender rolls with a large sweet tea, and I'm good for the drive home after work.
Ordered a 20 PC tender through the drive through. The line was insane on opening day and took 40 min. But was worth it. Only problem was as soon as i got home i found I didn't get the gravy, rolls and I had 16 pics. Yes, i should have checked but with 2 kids screaming i was in a hurry to get home. The good thing is they corrected it with no issues but I still had to drive back to get this fixed and reloading 4 kids in the car is not fun. 5 stars of i didn't have to make a return trip.
I swear the chicken tenders have gotten smaller. They used to be nice fat tenders now days there's as much batter as chicken
Great food. But why close the lobby before the dinner rush at 5pm and have 20 cars in the drive thru???
Bush's Chicken (Specifically in McGregor) can be described as a mid tier establishment with some good highs when you come at a good time and some of the lowest lows if you come at a bad time. If you come to bushes when rolls and chicken is just getting hot and ready you can get tenders/breasts that are decent size and usually really good. Rolls are soft and sweet when they are fresh and hot, and pair really well as a sandwich for your tenders (Tender Rolls separately on the menu at most locations) French fries are crinkle fries and are typically not that good. May be mildly warm or soggy at the worst of times. I recommend getting either more rolls, okra, mashed taters, or mac&cheese. On your other 50% visits you will find that your rolls are slightly warm and a little hard, but still have fair taste. A little under average. You may also find you get some of the smallest and cheap tenders and breasts known to man. These visits feel awful and make you wonder why you even stopped by. This feeling is made worse after the significant price increase over the past few years. Service is typically fine as you can get in and out at most parts of the day. It is mostly employed by high schoolers or grads, but they do a decent job. During prime time it can sometimes be pretty busy (Especially dinner rush on Tuesdays, or during your local football night.) Service quality will some times drop during this time depending on who is working the drive thru. On top of being busy, some of the car hoppers may skip over people to get a order for their friend who pulled in the back. I dont mind it much, but it is something to note about this location if you are in a rush for some reason. Atmosphere is average. The remodel recently does look a lot better than before though. But you are quickly in and out anyway, so nothing really stands out being special at this location. TLDR: Bush's Chicken in McGregor can be described to being good when the food is hot and fresh and awful when they are at the end of the batch or if the food has been siting a while. Service is average. Atmosphere is average. About a 6/10
We chose Bush's because we'd eaten at other locations of this chain in the past. For fast food, it was passable, as it satisfied the hunger pangs, if not the desire for fresh and hot food. Three stars instead of four, for chicken under a heat lamp, though it was at least still somewhat crisp. Typical room temperature roll from out of a package, not fresh baked. Salt shaker on the table was empty, and the one we got from the next table barely had any salt in it. Kudos to the smiling, friendly staff for their hospitality. It was nice they gave a refill of a large drink, and at least the dining area seemed fairly clean.
It's been completely remodeled and seems nice, but prices increased by 25% or more afterward. It's nothing like it was for many years that I have dined here.vSurvice is down quality is down, and very few friendly employees. Besides Tea, and a couple of tender rolls I don't eat here anymore. If another chicken place were to open here, they'd be in trouble. IMHO

Bush's service in McGregor has always been a great experience. However, what does not make sense to me is, how we waited all this time for this new building to be built. To have the worst customer service experience. I have sat there, along with many other cars, and been looked over by employees, they will not even cut their eyes to you, in your direction, to wait on people that pulled up behind you. What really blows my mind is, how can you operate a business with this capacity of folks that come there with two employee vehicles in the parking lot, reflecting only one to four people working? That is unacceptable, hire some employees and brush them up on Customer service skills/ how they need to proceed with customer interactions. You have 10 cars in the drive thur and counting but have time to answer the phone, when I asked is anyone working the drive thur, to tell me we are working as quickly as possible on our current orders.... Bush's Managers, hire your people some help!
The food is alright, I ordered a Buffalo fry and it’s for the most part pretty good, but in no way shape or form did I ask for their ocra to be added. Like I said the food is alright, but they must be poorly trained since they mix up your food with random food items.
I had to flag down employee to help me after I'd been sitting for about 10 minutes also my food was cold and tasted old the bottom of my bisket was soaking wet and tasted funny. This was on June 4th 2023 at 5:20pm
What a total let down this place was. The only reason I'm giving 2 ⭐s is because the gravy and the sweet tea were great. I hadn't had Bush's Chicken in years, so on a recent trip with my friend to his hometown, we decided to grab some chicken tenders and sweet tea. At 1pm in the drive-thru we had to wait for 5 minutes for someone to take our order and then another 10 minutes to get our food. We get to his Mom's house and they forgot his side of Fried Okra, but we were definitely charged for it {part of our $32+ lunch). I'm not exactly sure when chicken tenders shrank to something that more resembled a long skinny nugget covered in batter, but these were tiny. I mean an inch by 4-5 inches long and that was it. 3 bites and the tender was gone. The fries? 7 or 8 fries, less than you get in a kid's meal from McDonald's! I remember when the bottom of the box would be filled with fries, not anymore. Sad excuse for what used to be an awesome place to get a great meal that would actually fill you up.
Always good and fresh and affordable, but the last few times the food was cold. I ordered an unsweet tea and on the way realized that it was sweet, which I hate. I do not know what's going on. But you need to step it up. I used to love your stuff, but now I'm not there anymore 😢
Brand new building looks amazing but ever since they reopened the service here has been less than par. Servers used to come out right away and constantly checking to make sure people were being helped. Now it’s like pulling teeth to get anyone to your vehicle in the drive through. Not sure what happened but unless you have 30 minutes or more to wait for an order, I’d suggest finding an alternate meal.
Slowest bushes in texas. 20 minute wait in the drive through
Food not saying. Workers 1 guy trying so hard running drive thru and dining sad . Good job trying brother.
Since when has it been okay to give half of a half on tenders? Tender Tuesday chicken was like maybe 10 piece not 16.
Has always been fresh excellent food. Yesterday, terrible. Fries neither fresh nor warm, iced tea way too sweet. Way out of character for this place. Dropped in again this past week. After out of character meal a month earlier, this week the meal was back to the usual outstanding. Fresh chicken strips, hot fries and sweet tea on point.
If you need napkins, fork, etc, better ask for it because it will not be in the order. Young people who aren't well trained will wait on you, friendly for the most part but not bright. They could do better.

I doordash and when I come in here to get my customer orders there is one particular manager that was always EXTREMELY RUDE. When I tell them I'm here for doordash order, the manager act like she doesn't want to be bothered. And she'll give me an attitude with no smile and no customer service. This is the last place I'll get an order for my doordash customers. I'll come in if I extremely need to.
Showed up at 945 when sign says they close at 10. Ignored me for nearly 10 minutes-looked at me sitting in drive through while standing on the other side of the window. Server states they always close early. Then he had the audacity to say they sold out of everything, but he forgot they have windows and you can see the food under the heat lamps. Super rude. They evidently should just change the posted close time.
Lobby closes too early before 7pm could not dine in.
Walked in and ordered chicken meals. Noticed the area that holds the chicken was overflowing. Got home and sure enough the chicken was dried out and tough. Manager must of thought she was brilliant cooking so much food ahead of time. That was 5 years ago! Have never returned. You want good fresh food go to Raising Cane's.
****BAD FOOD QUALITY AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE*****DO NO RECOMMEND**** The last 3 times I have been there it has been mediocre service and the food was either too salty or blend. I got a 4 pieces meal tonight and I got no more than 15 fries with my meal.. the management needs to do better at training their employees and making sure the right amount of food is being given. I hate to tell people how to do their business but I’m sick and tired of spending my money at mediocrity service and quality. Tonight, I asked for sweet teas and they gave me unsweet. My father 2 piece mis dark meat was fully of grease and woke up with diarrhea.
Waited in line for more than 15 minutes all for the lady to be rude. I asked her what was taking so long and she claimed there was only 3 employees working which there was more than that. Just sitting out side there was Atleast 5 and a kid just standing inside the door doing nothing. And then not to mention I ordered 2 simple things. A large sweet tea and a roll. Which I got unsweetened tea and a attitude from the lady which appeared to be a manager.
Closed inside at 6 when hours state they are open till 9
Ordered unsweet tea and after getting home the young server gave me sweet tea. I live 8 miles away so to far to drive back. I won’t go back to McGregor store.
Yeah, I went to order food and they informed me at 2 o’clock in the afternoon they were closing for Christmas party and I couldn’t fulfill my order so I had to drive another 30 miles to get chicken for my grandkids so I do not appreciate that she’s in Mcgregor at all and will never go back there and their food is terrible. Save your time and money.
I placed an order with this restaurant, after waiting for 30 minutes, they canceled my order due to the store being "closed"... I called up there for an explanation, they were open another few hours still. 😑
Why is the lobby always closed here? There’s a small gravel lot next door for trucks. Second and final time I had my hopes squashed for an over priced plate of greasy chicken served with cold service. Subway it is…..
The chicken was very very dry and fried very salty. I keep saying to stop going but living in a small town it is easy to go to.
This is their individual sides. They used the gravy cups to put the food in. 2.00 for literally 2 bites. I asked when did Bushs start using the condiments cups for sides. I asked for the manger and she wouldn’t even come out. Horrible food for 50 dollars spent.
Went on 3/21 and not sure who they have cooking the rolls or preparing the cole slaw , but when the cabbage starts floating in the mayonnaise i doubt thats how coleslaw is made. Rolls here have never ever been this bad in the past but they messed the ratio up somewhere in the process of cooking. KFC might have competition when it comes to hockey puck rolls. The one prepping this portion of the food should be outside taking orders instead. Do better bush’s 🫱🏽🫲🏿 The cook who made the tenders and fries did his job those came out excellent can’t mess up fries ☺️ $85+ on a family meal for half of it to be disgusting.
Don't ever come to this location after 9:15 PM. The obviously don't care about their customers enough to make sure they're getting what they're paying for. I'm trying to feed my children and this is supposed to equal 6 tenders. And no it's not a very big disposable plate!! I work hard for the money I make and I'll be damned if those little kids working in there aren't taking home the humongous pile of COOKED chicken there is every time I visit this "establishment" they need a new manager, or to just be shut down cause everyone that visits is throwing away their money anyway.

We visited today it was horrible service 8 people working that I seen … well standing around visiting as I stood waiting to be waited on then finally got waited on. was not given any plates or plasticware to eat with .They put everything in the bag like they wanted us to leave with the food. Then another 5 minutes for someone to wait on me to get plates everyone looked at me and pretended they didn’t see or hear me 🤷🏽♀️ and the attitude I got for asking for plates made me want to take my family somewhere else 😞opened to food and the chicken had hair and the fries wasn’t even cooked all the way 🤯🤯
My fiancé and I pulled up to order dinner, and a staff member came out to take our order. There was no eye contact, no acknowledgment, just complete silence. We paid with a $20 and a $10 bill, expecting to enjoy our meal soon. After waiting, the worker returned to inform us that they were no longer serving tenders and wouldn’t be cooking more because they were closing early. He then asked if we wanted to order something else instead. Since they couldn’t fulfill our order, we asked for a refund. It took 5-10 minutes for them to return our money, and when they did, we received a $20 bill, a $5 bill, 3 $1 bills, and loose change. Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating. I would hope your team could provide a more efficient and professional refund process, especially when unable to deliver the service customers expect. I’m very disappointed and hope improvements can be made moving forward.
The review below is now null and void; I will not consider a restaurant that offers a free-standing dining area but will not allow customers to eat there. I care not whether they thrive or not, any more than I did when their sister restaurants closed during the plague. ------------- The chicken was better here than at the store where I first experienced the franchise, but I can't distinguish them from Chicken Express unless their meals cost a couple of dollars more each. They don't offer any spread for their rolls, so you may want to buy an extra cup of gravy. The best aspect was that they filled my cup with tea repeatedly.
The people they have working here do not listen or need to stop getting high before they go to work or not be a cashier. My husband tried to order a 4 piece tender meal and just an only 4 piece tender with a roll. The child behind the counter just couldn’t grasp we want the four tender meal, said whatever and gave up and we only got one meal lol. Maybe he shouldn’t work there if he can’t listen to a simple order and pay attention to what’s going on.
They do not keep the dining room open as late as they should. If you want to sit down and eat a hot dinner this is not the place to go. They need to post their dining room hours on this webpage so that customers don't drive all that way just to find the dining room closed. 6 pm is just too early to close a dining room!
