We stopped by this place recently and had such a great experience. The service was super quick, which I really appreciated, and the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the tikka masala, chicken biryani, tandoori chicken, samosa chaat, and dahi puri and honestly, everything was packed with flavor. The chicken in both the tikka masala and biryani was juicy and tender, and the spices were spot on. One thing you have to try is their coconut naan! It's so soft, slightly sweet, and perfect for scooping up that tikka masala sauce. The samosa chaat and dahi puri were both fresh and full of flavor too, crispy, tangy, and just the right amount of spice. I finished off with a cup of chai, and it was warm, comforting, and a great way to end the meal. Definitely recommend if you're craving some good Indian/ Nepalese food with fast service!

Last night, we had a fantastic dining experience at this Indian restaurant. The lamb boti kebab was incredibly juicy and flavorful, and the biryani was absolutely mouthwatering rich with perfectly balanced spices. The naan was soft, fresh, and a great complement to the meal. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making the whole experience feel authentic and comfortable. Highly recommend this place to anyone craving delicious Indian cuisine and excellent service.

Really enjoyed the masala bengan bharta (eggplant) and lamb biryani here. Naan was very fresh when dining in and all the flavors are nice. Mild spice was good enough for my mom but next time I’ll try medium. The chicken tikka is a bit sweet but still nice and the tandoori chicken is tender with some char flavor. Mango lassi was also great, especially for the price. Overall, I loved the contemporary take on familiar takeout flavors. Staff was friendly and attentive. The prices ranged from reasonable to a complete bargain (especially for Menlo Park). Honestly, I can’t wait to return to try more.

The food here was great, and our waiter was incredibly kind and friendly! We loved the lamb biryani, dahi puri chaat, and chicken saag—all were delicious. The medium spice level was quite mild, so if you enjoy heat, I’d recommend going for spicy. The only area for improvement was the sauce for the momo, which was ice cold🥶

Great traditional Indian in downtown Menlo Park! We really liked the Okra Masala and Chickpea Saag. Dishes were generous in size, served hot and with the right spice. The Butter Chicken was solid too. Very clean atmosphere in a recently remodeled space.

We’ve lived in Menlo Park for many years and didn’t realize this gem was here all along! An amazing experience both times we’ve eaten here! I enjoy the authenticity and quality of the food. You cannot go wrong eating here (unless you generally have food sensitivities). Even though I sometimes get tummy issues, I just take Gelusil prior to eating any Indian cuisine. I love food too much to stop eating here! The owner is a true professional and will even take your order and deliver with a smile! They also have alcohol for those interested in that. Their Mango Lassi is not overly sweet which is a big plus! It’s perfect! The food is freshly cooked and really delicious! Their saffron rice is super fragrant. They don’t skimp on ingredients! Definitely come with the family or friends and the super down to earth owner will happily serve you! Order their Bahture and Tadka Daal! So good together. The Chicken Vindaloo (savory) complements the Fish Tikka Masala (a tad sweet) Don’t miss this spot before it gets busy!

Nice Indian restaurant in Menlo Park! They have some South Indian dishes and some curries as well. I had the chicken vindaloo (medium) and it was just the right amount of spice. The eggplant dish was even better. Naan bread was ok, not great. Service was good and prompt. And it was not as expensive as one might expect for a downtown location. Will definitely be coming back.

Highly highly recommend- absolutely amazing and quick service!! Extremely good and authentic food - loved my experience at Tilak Menlo Park 😋🍛 We got dahi puri, veg chowmein, dal makhani, and garlic naan.

Food was fantastic! We’ve been waiting for a downtown MP Indian place for a while - they just opened so still no permit to serve beer or wine but still have some good decor and great setup for small groups and a chill lunch or dinner out. We came on Sunday for a casual lunch and left enamored with the food - we had dhai chaat and fish pakora apps; the yogurt and semolina felt like perfect balance of sweet and spicy, light and airy and great for sharing. The fish pakora was perfect and flaky, not over breaded or greasy at all. Yum! Then for mains we had lamb biryani (huge chunks of deliciously cooked lamb in traditional biryani flavors), Goan prawn masala (nice sweet coconut milk curry and good size prawns that were cooked just right), and OMG the butter chicken should just be a required order for everyone! Not too creamy, great flavor.

This not too fancy looking place in Menlo Park downtown is a hidden gem of Indian food - The Dahi Puri chaat was excellent. The Lamb Biryani took the took the cake - perfectly flavorful, with succulent meat, nutty and bringing the perfect heat. The Gulab Jamun was great too.

I have been eating at Tilak for years. So, at this point the staff and the whole team have become friends. However, I can still objectively that the food here is wonderful. Around the corner from the restaurant, my uncle and I run a bookstore and we are always delighted to be able to smell the cooking from across the street—scents of Nepal and India that suggest the cuisine that is as delicious as it is nourishing. I love the momos personally (vegetarian or chicken) but also the daal and the dishes with eggplant and of course their chicken tikka masala—a favorite. Come for the food but stay for the community and the wonderful people. PS—they also serve Taj Mahal beer—have a cold one 😉❤️🍀

Delicious indian food although not too spicy (for me and my friend that was ok). Loved the marsala chai (unsweetened - perfect… I’m cutting back on sugar!). Server was extremely polite and professional. I highly recommend this place.

Tilak Indian/ Nepali Cuisine in Menlo Park is hands-down one of the best spots for Nepali and Indian food. The moment you walk in, it feels cozy and welcoming nice décor, chill atmosphere, and super friendly staff who actually seem happy you’re there. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, talk, and really enjoy your meal. The food is the real obsession-level part. Their momos are insanely good juicy, flavorful, and addictive. The Nepali dishes taste like real home cooking, and the Indian curries are rich, balanced, and never one-note. Fresh naan, generous portions, and fair prices seal the deal. Every time I leave Tilak, I’m full, satisfied, and already planning my next visit.

Delicious food, lovely wall decorations and ambiance BUT very limited wine list (see photo). We went out to the Trader Joes next door to buy a bottle we liked and paid the $15 corkage fee. Pricing was reasonable - for three couples it came out to $55/couple.

I stopped by this place based on good reviews but the food was pretty disappointing. The chicken tikka masala sauce was too salty and sweet. It tasted like it was made from ketchup or something. The saag paneer was even worse because it was very chunky with large pieces of cooked spinach and other stuff. I had to take out the paneer and blend the remaining stuff to make a sauce out of it. I’ve never had to do that with Indian food I’ve ordered. The two dishes also had very little chicken and paneer. The place seemed reasonably nice inside for a fast casual restaurant. Perhaps they’re more focused on the Nepali food, but I’d pass on the Indian options

My friend and I have been coming here since the restaurant first opened, and we have never experienced anything as shocking as what happened tonight. As soon as the owner who is always courteous stepped out, the staff’s behavior became absolutely unacceptable. We ordered Gobi Manchurian. The first version was extremely spicy, so we requested an adjustment. The second version was so sour it was inedible. When we politely asked for it to be replaced, a staff member became disrespectful and abruptly told us to leave because “the kitchen was closed.” We asked to speak to the owner directly, but this individual refused and would not provide any contact. Instead, he took our picture without consent and continued to harass us. This behavior felt intimidating and completely unprofessional, especially toward female customers. After being loyal customers for years, we are deeply disappointed. We will not be returning and strongly caution others especially women to avoid this place until they address staff behavior and basic customer decency. Their photo is attached. Please avoid at all costs!

Shocking Decline in Service - Never Again. We have been loyal patrons of this restaurant for close to two years now, recommending it highly to friends and family. However, after our last visit, I can definitively say: never again! The behavior of one of the staff members was extremely rude and utterly dismissive of our concerns regarding our order. Not only did this individual refuse to address the issue professionally, but they actually made fun of our requests. To top it off, this individual casually asked us to leave if we didn’t like the food. This kind of unprofessional and hostile service is completely unacceptable and destroys any good reputation the restaurant may have had. Furthermore, I have noticed a deeply concerning pattern: immediately following a legitimate negative review, there are always several highly suspect accounts giving a five-star rating to artificially keep the scores high. I would really appreciate it if the management would focus on addressing actual customer concerns, like the staff's conduct and food quality issues, rather than dedicating resources to generating fake ratings. Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend this establishment.
