Cash only!! The food was really good in taste and portions for its price. It also came out really quickly. The place is casual and small, and everything was inexpensive. All of the tables were taken when we got there so they cleared up a table for us right away that had prep on it. So that was really nice too. There’s nothing to complain about. Would definitely go here again!!

Really good and hearty portion (this is the #4, brisket with wontons) and tasty soup. Generous portion of noodles - maybe too much and not enough soup - that goes great with table side red vinegar. Be prepared to sit at a communal table if you’re a small party. Cash only. Better than Hon’s Wun-tun, despite the lines there. It’s cheaper and more flavorful with more ingredients like veggies and beef for the price point. And, all locals were eating here!

J
Jeff Shin

Ordered the wonton soup with beef. Wontons were plump & hot. Beef was cooked til tender & very flavorful. $10 including tax.

I LOVE this place!! As a gweilo (who married up about 40 years ago), I used to really enjoy my father in law’s trips to Chinatown for a bowl of noodles and lots of stories about growing up here. It was exciting, a little intimidating, and ultimately a big hug from Chinatown. The food here is amazing. It’s the best beef stew wonton mein I’ve had recently. The stew is outstanding with hints 5 spice and of great flavor, carefully prepared for many hours. The wonton are full of fluffy pork and chunks of shrimp. The noodles bounce. The atmosphere is perfect, with a clear view of what I assume is family, working over pots of steam. Service is quick but caring. It’s a little bit of a window to the past with a limited but perfected menu and tight space filled with adoring fans.

Glad to see Yin Du reopened after closing for many months. I had the beef stew with rice noodles ($8). The food is still good, but many menu items have been cut.

Have been there on a rainy day but food there was great especially wonton noodles. Food was acceptable and affordable without any potential mandatory service fees

Came in the morning for noodles and I got beef stew noodles. Was blown away by the simplicity and deliciousness. Price is very cheap for the portion size. I just point to the picture and I got what the picture shown.

The soup tastes really great not too salty. It's like my life savior when I'm sick and hungry. This packed big bowl is only $10. The big dumplings is packed with minced pork and shrimp. It tastes so good.

Absolutely amazing pork liver and kidney—so rare to find at restaurants around here, and they’re incredibly fresh and well-seasoned! 🥢 Their rice dishes come with generous portions, and the wontons are delicious too. Even without MSG (as stated on the menu), the soup is rich, flavorful, and full of umami. Given how good everything is, the wait is totally understandable!

Affordable spot with good wonton noodle soup. I got it with the pig feet but the wontons were so tasty I would just get the wonton noodle soup next time. Cash only.

Food was great given the price. Beef brisket was tender and flavorful. Wontons were handmade and super fresh

Cheap and cheerful. This place was amazing. The food is great, fast and so authentic. It’s communal seating and what’s available but everyone understands that. It’s a friendly atmosphere. The service is so fast and it is more of an eat-n-go places. There was a short wait but we got a seat in 5 minutes. It is cash only. I would highly recommend this place. They don’t steer away from their natural demographic so they have a lot of food items that Asian tastebuds would enjoy but may not be of intrigue to someone less familiar with items like kidney, pig’s feet, liver etc. I love this place though and it is a gem. 10/10

⸻ Yin Du Wonton House is a true Chinatown gem in San Francisco. The moment you step in, you know the food is the star — no frills, just authentic Cantonese flavors. Their wonton noodle soup is perfectly balanced, with plump dumplings, tender noodles, and a savory broth that warms you from the inside out. I also tried the stewed beef brisket with wontons, and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender while the broth was rich and comforting. Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and the casual, cozy atmosphere makes it feel like a local secret. Cash-only and bustling, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re craving real Hong Kong-style comfort food in SF.

Yin Du is an institution. Portions are generous and satisfying. While the noodle soup itself isn’t particularly special, the noodles are excellent—springy with just the right bite. The liver is a standout, cooked to absolute perfection. A great spot if you want hearty plates done right.

Despite the low rating, I decided to give this place a try—and I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve visited twice now and can confidently say it’s a hidden gem. It’s a very authentic, local spot; both times I went, I was the only non–Chinese-speaking customer, which says a lot about its authenticity. I had the beef noodle soup, and it was absolutely delicious. It was also great that it comes with a complimentary mug of tea. On top of that, the prices are very budget-friendly and hard to beat. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in SFO! Cash only

A friend of a friend recommended this small family own restaurant. They’re known for their beef brisket noodles - which was converted with a braised sauce that tasted velvety and rich! I thought the portion was perfect for one person. The chef didn’t skimped out on the protein and noodles were cooked perfectly. Be prepared for a wait (roughly 5-10 minutes) because it’s quite popular. It’s more of a moderate bite and go, so you’ll get an aunty rushing you out for the next customers. Oh and don’t forget cash only!

This place has food that tastes the exact same as the one I had in China. Classic Cantonese beef brisket flat noodles and steamed beef liver and kidney. This place reminded me of my childhood when I ate breakfast early in the morning before going back to school.

Waited for a little bit. Quick turnover. Limited seating, you might need to share table with others. Beef brisket rice noodle was good. Tried the pork liver & kidney, was great too. Cash only. Would totally come back and try other items on the menu.

My family has came here a couple times and it was my first time! There noodle soups are pretty cheap compared to other places outside of Chinatown. Each bowl is roughly $10. Both my sister and I got their beef brisket & wonton noodle soup. My mom got their pig feet noodle soup. We shared a plate of liver & kidney, this was so good; I love the soy sauce they use for this dish. The portions were just right for the low price you pay. Wontons were plump and full of ground meat & shrimp! Brisket was pretty tender, I just had a couple pieces that were to tough to chew. I would totally come back for a cheap meal!!!

It was almost their closing hour but the owner still let us in. We got two rice noodles both are very flavorful. Beef brisket is tender and soup is rich, shrimp wonton is juicy and tasty. Would love to try other things here.

I️ just came back from Taiwan and this place is pretty damn close to real authentic Chinese food. Add the beef brisket to the wonton soup and it’s pretty much the same broth as the famous Beef Noodle Soup. Excellent prices. $5 bowls of soups. Add egg noodles if you wish. Delicious I️ced Milk Tea, not too sweet and very strong for $2.50 They make dumplings and wontons right in front of you, not on your table but at separate tables so you know it’s fresh and hand made. Great hot sauce on the table along with red vinegar. Cash only. Metered street parking.

J

My beef brisket dry noodles (lo mein) $9 was excellent. There were so many pieces of meat and tendons. After my plate arrived at the table, the chef came out and gave me an extra piece. I never had that happen before. It was closing time and I guess they didn't want it to go to waste. The ja jiang noodles, I was told, was just OK. We left the restaurant satisfied. Great job everyone at Yin Du.

A must-try in SF Chinatown. Straightforward, no frills noodle house serving up solid Chinese soups, wontons and side dishes. Tripe share dish amazing, cooked to perfection — not only crunchy, but also fluffy. A first.

Found this Chinese small restaurant on a side street of China town no tourists anywhere, the wonton beef noodles soup was ok. The beef curry rice was excellent! Very reasonably priced with free tea. Wish I lived across from this restaurant.

This is an authentic noodle soup eatery in Chinatown. The tables are packed into a tiny space so be prepared to share a table with someone. The prices are ridiculously low and the food ridiculously good. The beef stew rice noodle soup is the shining star here. Note: It is cash only and there are not public restrooms available.

Old school local place, great to sit down for a quick bite .. wait is short as people don’t linger around too long .. Beef Brisket WonTon Noodle Soup - Generous amount of not too fatty Brisket & juicy plump wonton with chunk of baby shrimp PORK & CENTURY JOOK - generous amount of pork ❤️ more than 1/4 egg Total Bill $15.50 … Cash only; be prepare to share table when the restaurant is full.

Tried both wanton mee n beef brisket noodle soup. I kind of prefer the beef noodle over the wanton mee. The beef brisket n white noodle taste really good. The wanton is filled with minced meat + prawn and cover with thin wanton skin. Good combination with the rich soup. The wanton noodle is abit plain with less taste. Small restaurant but almost filled with customer during breakfast. Portion is big and Price is reasonable.

Literally a hole in the wall, off the main tourist street. Majority of customers are local. I ordered the beef brisket noodle. The portion is big for $9. The beef is tender and the tendon is soft. Very good beef brisket!

Beef brisket tastes better than wonton. The poached pig organs are surprisingly the best.

Hole in the wall Chinese noodle restaurant, famous for their wontons noodles, beef stew and curry fish balls. Good prices and food but don't expect extra cleanliness or good service.

Delicious food!! My partner and I live in the city and love to explore new restaurants, which is why we came here. Unfortunately the server up-charged us $10 more than what our bill was. Server told us it was $30 but took all $40 and then tapped furiously on the cash tray for a tip. When I refuted this up-charge they ignored the claim. Up-charging patrons is unethical and for this reason I will not be going back.

Often walked past here and saw a line outside. Decided to try it when the line is very short. Ordered the suggested beef stew wonton noodle soup. It's pretty good, and at 10 it's good price. But IMHO it's about equal to Utopia Cafe or even Spicy Shrimp over at Waverly.

Yin Du is a nice restaurant for Chinese food! We tried the shrimp wonton noodles and beef noodles. The noodle’s texture was like instant noodles, but the soup and wonton were delicious!

Yummy wonton noodle soup and porridge. It is a hole in a wall kind of restaurant but the food is very yummy. This is the place where wonton noodle soup is below $10. Other stuff is also below $10. It is cash only. If you are around Chinatown you must give it a try.

Cash only place that has amazing pork liver stir fry. Perfect texture and taste. The wontons are good, and so are the noodles, but the broth is bland. Does not have any of the taste of the iconic fish umaminess. I’d go for a mix between the beef brisket and an order of pig liver.

Still a solid go-to in SF Chinatown (648 Pacific Ave) when craving no-frills Cantonese noodle soup. Tiny spot, cash-only, communal tables (you might share with strangers, but that's the old-school charm), quick turnover with fast hustling behind the counter. Wonton noodle soup is the main draw: plump wontons with good pork/shrimp filling, thin egg noodles with nice bite, and broth that's clear and flavorful (some say it's on the lighter side, but it hits that comforting spot). Beef brisket noodle soup or pork belly versions get strong mentions too—tender meat, generous portions, and everything under $15-ish including tax/tip. Other hits: beef stew, curry fish balls, or steamed pork liver and kidneys if you're mixing it up. Parking in Chinatown is always a gamble—Portsmouth Square garage or street hunt. Authentic, cheap, and satisfying for what it is—real-deal wonton house energy that's held strong. Worth the wait if you're in the neighborhood.

It has all the bad things with traditional Chinese restaurants. Small space inside; cash only. I need to go out and withdraw some money from the bank. It’s very inconvenient. The taste of food is just at normal level of a Cantonese restaurant, not make me surprised.

Honk Kong style Chinese food. Casual and small operation. A simple menu of congee, soup, rice and noodles. Everything was inexpensive. We stopped by for a quick wonton noodle soup. It was good. Service was efficient.

Maybe my expectations of this place was too high. The place is too cramp. And the beef brisket is nothing to shout about, not flavourful at all, no "zhu-hou" sauce taste if you really want to know the specifics. The beef pieces are chopped up into really small pieces and that is not the way it should be for beef-brisket noodles. The wantons are small and just ok. No prawns inside. The soup is rather bland. And they do not have any chilli oil. They use the Lee Kum Kee type of chilli sauce, probably straight from the bottle. So this is not exactly the hong-kong style, Cantonese type of beef brisket noodles, that you will expect to find in Hong Kong. (You can find it in NYC though). Menu stated 8 bucks but charged me 9. All in all, will not come back.

R

It’s not too bad but Not as good as the people said in XHS , there are so many better wonton and beef brisket around .

Cash only! We entered at 2pm on a Monday afternoon. After browsing the greasy laminated menu with prices blacked out (wish I had gloves), we ordered a beef brisket wonton noodle and wonton noodle to eat inside. Food was delivered quickly and piping hot! Wontons are plump and the noodles are thin and firm. I was going to leave a tip on the table, but the cashier furiously tapped on her cash tray demanding a tip!! How crude. Food 3/5 - Meh, it’s OK. Service 1/5 - non-existent Atmosphere 1/5 - unkempt, not clean! Takeout is probably the safer option.

I ordered noodle soup, but the server brought me dry noodles. I told her it was the wrong dish, but she refused to change it and was very rude. I refused to pay tip. However, after I got home, I discovered that my receipt already included a tip without informing me. I have never had such a terrible experience.
