El Cristo is a well-regarded Cuban restaurant in Little Havana, known for its delicious and authentic food, friendly staff (especially Yenny, Andrew, and Lazaro), and reasonable prices. The Cuban sandwich, empanadas, and black beans are highly recommended.
Tip: Ask for Andrew for informative recommendations. Try the baked empanadas and be sure to sample the Cuban coffee.

We tried several other more “popular” spots for lunch along Calle Ocho, but long lines and an inflexible timeline inspired us to try this inviting spot. While El Cristo had solid ratings, we were overjoyed with the quality of the food. We ordered a Cuban sandwich, a Chicken sandwich and Ropa Vieja. The Chicken sandwich was served hot with a delicious combination of mustard and mayo that I loved. The Ropa Vieja was served in a perfect lunch portion and flavor was as complex and delicious as we’ve ever had. The Yucca was spiced well and amazing. The Cuban sandwich was also terrific, and the Tres Leches was soaked through and incredible. Don’t overlook this fun and amazing spot on a famous street.
What a wonderful experience we had at this restaurant. The food was definitely Cuban. Tasty and flavorful. My tacos just had to many onions for me and my wife needed a little sauce or mayo for her sandwich. The price was great. Service was great.
Very satisfied with the lunch we had on Calle ocho. This restaurant is very pretty, the food quite good and the service perfect. We ate outside on the terrace and felt very well. There was nice Latin music and even the restroom was clean. I highly recommend
Best Cuban sandwich i had all week. Also the best Colada. Other places came close. They also had the best service and made us feel welcome!
Food was sooooo good. Fast service, great music playing in the background. Just got off Carmival Cruise, best food I’ve had all week! I had the platter.
Stopped their on an excursion from a Carnival Cruise. Michael our Guide from Top 10 Miami List recommended it and took us there. Great choice!
i ordered the lechon new years meal and boy was it all so delicious and a perfect quantity for 10 persons, i have also tried the palomilla and the rabo encendido and never been dissapointed so far , i highly recomend if you are looking for delicious cuban food that is reasonably priced
The cuban food was awsome! The price is appropriate for the amount of food you get. However, 18% tip was added to the bill automatically without telling us.
Stopped in for lunch. Do yourself a favor and stop in! Food and ambiance and staff are great. We had a cubano coffee and mojitos. Excellent! Also had a Cuban sandwich and a lamb shank and a piece of mahi. Excellent dishes, Orlando was an excellent server.
The shrimp tacos were to die for. I also enjoyed a tasty sangria. Good Cuban music.

Our first Cuban experience. When you walk in you just want to order a bowl of whatever that smell is. Favorite was the pulled pork and moro rice; but the ropa vieja and oxtail (8 hours in the oven) were close seconds. Our server was Sebastian, and he was very patient explaining all of the choices and how Cubans View cooking.
Good food and service. We had ropa vieja and the skirt steak. Both good, though the ropa vieja wasn't as tender as I've previously had. Service was good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is outdated and could use a refresher.
What a terrific meal. Authentic Cuban menu and flavors with a nice vegan / vegetarian section. It was perfect for my family because two had traditional Cuban meat dishes of ropa vieja and pulled roast pork, one had seafood soup, and the fourth had a vegan plate of arroz y frijoles, plantains, two kinds of yuca, and more. It was clearly marked vegan. And everything was tasty. It is for tourists, but not offensively touristy
Delicious Cuban cuisine. The service is fast and very hospitable. I really enjoyed my meal there. The food was very tasty and the meats were tender. The salad complemented the dish nicely. Fresh and vibrant ingredients. The garlic bread served while we waited was also delicious! Mojitos are also fantastic!!!
Yoandra makes the best sandwiches in the world and if you want something else she hussles for it to come out fast, warm, and delicious. Everyone is as awesome as the the food at this restaurant.
The music was amazing, my family, and I were walking by and decided to stop for Mojitos and empanadas. The music drew us In, but our server Emilio was the reason we kept ordering drinks! He was super kind and attentive. We loved his vibe, the food was exactly what we needed, really good, would definitely return!
Lazaro is a fantastic waiter: humble and efficient. I fell in love with the amount of choice on the menu - I felt that one trip to the restaurant wasn’t enough. This eatery is an excellent choice for punters who prefer a calm atmosphere in contrast to the loud live music at the surrounding restaurants. The only downside was random films being shown on TVs surrounding us - they would have been more relevant with subtitles. To conclude, brilliant restaurant, definitely want to return there in the future.
This is my favorite restaurant in Little Havana, I only been to Miami twice , but each time I always come here to eat , I even recommend this place to my older brother when he vacations in Miami , this place has very nice severs and amazing authentic Cuban food , there are days I thought about moving to Miami just so I can enjoy this food , to the owner thank you for sharing your culture and food to everyone , I will be sure to come visit again when I return to Miami, unless I decide I want to move to Miami and call Miami home - Daniel Le
First time in Miami and Little Havana. Glad we stopped in here for food. We had the Tostones Rellenos to start and I think they were the most delicious things I have ever had in my life. We had the Camarones with the brown rice and salad for the main and again, just delicious. Will definitely be coming back next time we're in Miami.
First of all, I would like to thank the entire staff who helped celebrate my birthday there. It was AWESOME and really made me feel welcomed. I celebrated my 49th birthday at El Cristo with my wife. There were other places in Little Havana that we could have gone, but we chose El Cristo. The food and atmosphere did not disappoint in any way, shape, or form. The food was like me going to my Aunt's house to have her cook (my Aunt is Cuban and lives in SoFla). Our waiter was the greatest and he took care of everything we needed. Which we did not have to wait for anything. The dinner I had (LECHON ASADO) was simply amazing. The pork was cooked to absolute perfection and is something that I am going to try to mimik, but I know I will never achieve. Therefore, I will just have to come back. I had the lechon asado the day before at another good restaurant in Miami, but it does not compare to what I had at El Cristo. To start our dinner experience and it was an experience if you've never been to Little Havana was the PICADERA HABANERA. The fried green plantains were delicious, like when I go to Colombia delicious. The chicken and beef empanadas were equally as good. The picadera habanera as a whole was very tasty and plentiful. If you have that, make sure you bring your appetite because there will not be a shortage of food. If you walk away hungry, then you can really eat. Nevertheless, it was the best time I have had. Thank you again El Cristo for making my birthday that much more special. We will be back, you can count on that.
Habanero trio was delicious! Skirt steak was tender with a wonderful cilantro dressing. Shrimp was excellent! Beef empanada was REALLY tasty. We ate outside which was pleasant except the music was a little loud. Veronica was friendly and attentive, kept our water glasses full. Highly recommend.
The El Cristo plate was an amazing sample of delicious Cuban food. The limeade was refreshing and had the perfect sweetness. Our server Yenny was great and made sure we had amazing experience having delicious Cuban cuisine for the first time. Hope to be back sometime in the future 🙏 Genuinely some of the best food I have ever had.
In the spirit of transparency, I live two blocks away and I’m a local tour guide who has worked with this restaurant over the years by taking many groups to eat there. That said, I’m finally writing a heartfelt review because what’s happened over this Summer is a miraculous turnaround that locals and visitors must experience for themselves: the service!! Look, for many of us in Little Havana, we KNOW El Cristo has ALWAYS been reliably excellent Cuban cuisine. You can peruse other reviews and see for yourselves—people LOVE the Ropa Vieja, the Roast Pork (lechón), and the Rice & Beans are tough to beat (not to mention their Beef Empanadas and Cuban Sandwiches). Oh, let’s not forget about the VERY BEST LIMEADE IN THE WORLD (that’s not even a slight exaggeration, but taste is subjective)! In any case, yes, the service… It’s been known to be a touch slow in the past. Folks, RUN, don’t walk, to El Cristo NOW. Whatever the proprietor, the inimitable Jose Santana, has done to right this ship is absolutely palpable… Expertly navigated by the head waitstaff, Lazaro & Yenny, everything seems to be running seamlessly. Pair that with the consistently delicious fare in this minimalistic Little Havana eatery, and you’re guaranteed a lowkey, delightful meal away from some of the other, more chaotic, options on Calle Ocho. Hats off to El Cristo and ALL THEIR STAFF!
Food was amazing! Service was top notch! Every dish our server Sebastian suggested was so good! 10/10 would come back, well worth every penny spent :)
The food at el Cristy was authentically Cuban and very tasty. Sebastian guided us very well through the menu given we were all vegetarians and English speaking. Furthermore one of us was not having onions and Sebastian made sure the food arrived without onions.
I give the food of this restaurant a 5 stars. It was delicious and felt like home. The service not so great. The waiter was very distracted and often forgot the requests we had. I suggest they hire more waiters and assign a minimum of 3 tables each to better serve the customers. I also suggest to have more team work. Several times we saw a couple of waiters just wondering around. Great place !
The 5 stars are for such a great service. We were welcomed and treated with so much respect here. We were given great food recommendations and immediately after sitting down they brought us water, bread and someone (not sure if manager or owner) came to the table to thank us for choosing his restaurant for dinner that night. The food tasted good.. the only thing is we had to swap our food because one of us doesn’t eat pork and his steak was milanesa style with lots of ham. We were still happy with the food after we swapped plates. Price-wise: it was a little pricey
My wife and I are there. We were a part of a tour group and they immediately recognized that. They asked us what time was our stop and we told them a little over 30 mins. They had us seated and got our meal ready just in time. The area was very clean and well kept. It felt very cozy and charming. I loved the Cuban arts exposed on the walls! It contributed to its authenticity. Our driver ( I think his name was Raphael) from Miami Tour (red bus) suggested for us to try the Mojito. We tried their Mojito and it did not disappoint. The server brought us our check so we wouldn't have to wait later (Talk about convenience). I had an amazing experience albeit it was short lived. I totally recommend them.
Phenomenal food and service. Hands down the best pulled pork I've ever had. Look no further for the best Cuban food in Miami.
El Cristo in Little Havana was such a great stop on our trip—lively, welcoming, and full of flavor. The food hit all the right notes, and the drinks were delicious, but the real standout was the cortadito—hands down the best we’ve had during our visit to Miami. What really made the experience special, though, was our server, Duani. She was so warm, kind, and genuinely attentive—it felt like we were being taken care of by a friend. We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back.
I have been coming here for nearly 20 years. It had been a while since I’ve come though. The place is still great! I had a friend come in from out of town with a large group of about 30. I called a couple days ahead and they were able to arrange a fixed family style menu for our large group. Everyone in the group loved their food. The service was amazing, and the ambiance is that of a great local little Havana spot! Thank you to Jose, and the rest of the El Cristo team!

We are vegetarians and we thought we would struggle to get some food. El cristo came to our rescue with a limited but yummy vegetarian options. The vibe looks great and I am sure it would look more lively during the night times. We were greeted with garlic bread and we ordered a vegetarian platter which looked bland but tasted delicious. We also tried fresh lemonade which was not too sweet and refreshing. Caramlized plantain was our favorite.
Amazing food. The oxtails were perfect. Not for those who don’t like the fatty parts. Still it had plenty of meat on it. The rice and beans were just right. Not too savory. The plantains..best yet for ME! Thx lil Havana and the big bus tour for the transportation lol. Only two block away to a pickup/dropoff bus stop. Oh my they have $6 mojitos across the street at EL PUB. Gonna be feeling good for this night boat cruise.
Excellent drinks here, stop into the bar on your way by. Helen makes an out of this world coconut mojito. It’s not on the menu, but you can taste the fresh muddled coconut, absolutely superb. Strong drinks for a much better price than its neighbors. You won’t be disappointed.
Our waiter Emilio was great. The whole place was a vibe, the food was especially delicious. I ordered arroz con pollo to go, which wasn’t on the menu, but Emilio had went to the kitchen to see if it could be made. If you’re looking for great authentic Cuban cuisine with friendly staff and a great environment, definitely check out this place!
12/22 First visit. Wonderful food!! Food 5 Service 4 Atmosphere 5 12/23 Second time coming. Had to come back. I've enjoyed the food, drink, and vibe. Very nice. Food 5 Service 4 Atmosphere 5 12/24 Third visit. The lamb shank is soooo tender. My roasted pork full of food taste with some crispy strands . Loved it. Cuban coffee mmmmmm good. Service changed from 4 to 5.
The perfect place for authentic Cuban food in Little Havana! The food was excellent and we felt very welcomed ☺️ and were left impressed by the humble and exceptional service! A great team that focuses on extraordinary food provided by a dedicated team! Will be going back for more decadent food!!
We had a wonderful experience at El Cristo Restaurant today. Our waitress Yenny was so friendly and attentive — she explained the menu clearly and even helped us choose dishes that suited us perfectly. We ordered Ropa Vieja, Filete de Mahi-Mahi, and Tostones Rellenos, and everything was delicious! Thanks to Yenny’s great service, we truly enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back again.
Damn brace yourself for a burst of delicious flavors when you come here. From appetizer to main entree, dessert and drinks, everything on the menu is a solid 5/5. I got empanadas de pollo y carne, churrasco, tres leches, and cortado. This place came highly recommended by my Uber driver, who is a local here in Miami. The flavors were so authentic! I was very pleasantly surprised! The service is awesome, the hostesses were really nice.
Best cubano sandwich i had. I tried few other places but this one was the best. And their Cuban coffee was on point. Thank you the gentlemen who explained the indifference of each coffee and made it for us! Great experience!
Stopped here on a Miami tour where our tour guide, Michael, recommended. The food was amazing and the staff were quick and super sweet! They have a good selection of menu items, and the food we ordered was great! We had the Cuban coffee (SO GOOD) so didn't try a mojito but next time we're in town will certainly stop here again and add that to our order!

I had the red snapper in red sauce and it was the most amazing meal I think I've ever had! No additional seasonings required. The black beans were *chefs kiss* mm mm mm good!! I'd eat here everyday…

Honestly, the empanadas are baked, not fried, which makes a big difference in my book! The Cuban sandwich is perfectly prepared and pressed. The flan is very tasty.

Very tasty food, reasonable prices. Workers were not pushy and very Ask for Andrew, he's informative about their product.
Warm welcome by the staff and very good Cuban food. We enjoyed our diner at this typical restaurant in Little Havana, jusr right!
If you are looking to get away from the crowded tourism on Calle Ocho but want authentic food, go here. There was no wait on an extremely busy holiday weekend. As a Cuban American, this food was authentic and service was very good.
During a very wet day exploring Calle Ocho I decided to get out the rain and eat at El Cristo Restaurant. The Cuban sandwich was very good, prices are pretty standard for what you pay in Miami
We love the food at this place! We had different dishes and everything was very good. One thing that surprised us was the Margarita! They brought a pitcher without which was perfect because it was not melted down! Other restaurants would bring you a pitcher full of ice. The dessert was delicious! It's a nice place to eat right in the middle of Little Havana! Cons - I think that the bathroom should be updated. That's the only thing that we didn't like about the place.

Very good cuban coffee and sandwich, we enjoyed that a lot. Also, the lemonade was fresh and delicious.

Great authentic Cuban cuisine!! I got the Oxtail dinner special with yellow rice and sweet plantains. Very delicious!! Fresh squeezed limonada. Waiter was very friendly and helpful in describing what some of the food choices were. Table and restaurant area were clean...but the bathroom was disgusting. Urine all over the seat and floor all wet. I opted not to use their facilities. If bathroom was clean, u would give 5 stars.
Authentic, or so our guide 🤔 says, food. Had a Cuban sandwich. Was very tasty.
The food is delicious. Sign out front says $8 Mojito, they are actually 12.
We enjoyed the place. Food was very nice. Service was also good and fast. We set outside and went for shrimps and fish. Nice cool Mexican beer. Lunch for 2 is $100 Espresso was surprisingly good, but with sugar (they didn’t ask about it) mojito was also too sweet (US specific). After the meal you can enjoy a freshly made cigar from the local cigar shop
Tacos were good. I ordered a non-alcoholic mojito and was charged full price. I’ve never had that happen in years of ordering mocktails at restaurants, so to that was kind of ridiculous to me.
The food here was amazing, that said our Spanish is not, we waited over a half hour to place our order with a waiter who spoke English. All of our water glasses were empty, never refilled. We had to flag someone down to bring our check. If you speak Spanish, I’m sure you will not have this issue, I would definitely eat here again, as long as I had a Spanish speaking member in our party.
Great taste of Cuban food! The menu had a decent selection of delicious meals… prices a bit steep but it’s little Havana. Also an 18% tip was included in the bill by default. Nice to have the option to sit in or outside- plenty of open seats when we were there around 5:30pm. A great spot in little Havana for some authentic Cuban eats!
Great cubano sandwich in little Havana. Good menu variety, including some other cuban specialties. Drinks menu is affordable and like most of little Havana it always seems to be happy hour! We were there for lunch when there are likely a few more tourist tour buses around, so it felt a little busy, but we'd love to come back in the evening!
We visited El Cristo as part of our food tour of Little Havana and it was delightful. Their back patio is a perfect spot for a meal. We were given beef empanadas with a green sauce. The empanadas are absolutely huge here and you're really getting a great bang for buck. They were juicy, flavorful, and really good. Highly recommend.
Overpriced, a bit greasy. Drinks overly sugary. Service is nice. I would not go back. Fries were good. Service/wait staff patient. Ambiance dated decor but nice pictures. Dinner style.

Nice croquettes and empanadas. We ordered the grilled fish (mahi-mahi) and it was dry and tough. The shrimp fettuccine pasta was overcooked and bland. The highlight of our lunch was the orange juice - freshly squeezed and yum!
A great place to people watch on Calle ocho and sit and eat or drink. They add 18% tip and overcharge for food and drinks but it’s a tourist trap well located and Fabito our Cuban waiter spoke with such an amazing Cuban accent i nearly fell in love with him and didn’t mind the automatic tip on the bill too much. But i won’t be back, i prefer a less hectic location. Also in the bathroom they had this thing that hasn’t been repaired In almost a year which is especially bad cause they put the date it was patched up with duct tape and we are in 2024 not 2023. Come on guys. Get your act together and fix the thing in the toilet.
This is a place that will have your food out in less 30mins. which is good however don't except something with flavor or good quality. The steak didn't taste that great and I just ate it becaus I was extreme hungry. Mind you last day in Miami so why not give it a try but nope I left unhappy and maybe the only thing I found good was the rice and beans. And kinda of pricey.
Food was really good. I took off 2 star because I feel like we were scammed by our server. When the server took our order, after my boyfriend said he wanted the cubano el cristo, the server asked if he wants it with rice or salad. We were confused because we didn't know the meal comes with rice or salad but my boyfriend said salad anyway. Server wrote it down then turned to me and I said I would like the exact same thing. He then brought out 2 biggo plates of salad along with the sandwiches. We were so shocked of how cheap (we thought) it was. Until we discovered in our bill that it was $9 for each plate of salad we had. We paid and didnt complained, just felt little scammed. Server didn't specify when asked if we wanted the sandwich with rice or salad, he even made it sound like the meal came with it. I'll make sure to ask if any side dish comes with the meal when server ask next time, if i ever come back. Other then that, food was delicous. 18% service charge is included in the bill
I know its been a staple for this area for a long time but I was a bit disappointed in the sense of expecting some Cuban food. After talking with my server and asking a few questions about certain dishes, ended up with the pork dish - Solomillo. On its own, not a bad dish, for something I’d find at a diner, but this being an authentic Cuban restaurant, it was lacking. The pork was a bit over cooked, lacked ANY seasoning at all, which the menu said it was seasoned with Caribbean spices. The mushrooms on top were the canned version, which i love canned mushrooms but they did not add anything special to this dish. The rice and plantains were quite good. Saw the recommendations about their mango mojitos, and that too lacked flavor; in the sense that it was light in mango and also in mint. As a light refreshing drink, not bad but didn’t sway either way in a flavor profile. The service was quite good and their outside dining was neat. Will have to say that their interior decor/setting is a bit dated and could use a little more flare. I’d be apt to come by again and try another dish, but as is with a couple of other Cuban restaurants right in the neighborhood that have a bit more ambience and live music and if they match the quality of food or better then I’d be easily swayed to go to one of them. So if you’re going to rest your reputation on being an authentic Cuban restaurant then your food alone better knock it out of the park.
I like the fact that this place offers covered outdoor seating. We had Picadera Cubana for a starter, Tomahawk steak for shared entree and sangria for refreshment. All this was close to $100. Not sure if that is reasonable or expensive for Miami. The sangria was okay, nothing to brag about. There are several options on the starter plate (pic for full details). Overall, dinner was pretty tasty. I'm not a heavy meat eater so Tomahawk was a bit too heavy on the meat side for me but my friend thought it was very good. It was perfectly cooked and with good seasoning. I didn't think service was phenomenal . Server had a mask but it was hanging on one side of his ear and he didn't bother to keep good social distancing. Server kept on upselling us items, felt like there was a bit of pressure involved. What made my evening perfect was my company that evening - he made my imperfect dinner perfect. The 3 stars was for the food but I probably will give them a second try when I'm in Miami.

I visited this restaurant in Little Havana with high expectations, but the experience was underwhelming. The food was quite average and did not justify the high prices. This was especially noticeable because I had Cuban food near my hotel during the same trip that was more affordable, more flavorful, and served in much more generous portions. I was also uncomfortable seeing an 18% tip already pre-printed on the receipt without clear prior notice. Overall, the value here did not match the cost. Better food quality and clearer communication about tipping would greatly improve the experience.

We had a craving for a Cuban sandwich and boy did it disappoint. It had two slices of ham and I would say 2 oz of pork and mayo and mustard. No pickles! The side of fries was about 2 oz as well. For $18 I would expect more; I would expect more meat, more fries, pickles, and for the sandwich to come out warm through and through; the meat was still cold. We do not recommend it. Don't waste your 18 on this sandwich. We gave atmosphere two stars, because we wanted to sit at the bar and they were folding napkins. Also, even though our server was pleasant, the staff seemed very disorganized and unhinged.

We ate at El Cristo Restaurant in Miami and left disappointed. We ordered the Ropa Vieja main course, which comes with two sides. We chose black beans and sweet plantains. We also ordered plain bottled water separately. The beef had good flavor but was tough and hard to chew. The beans were overcooked and mushy. The plantains were the best part. The bill shocked us: $7 for a plastic bottle of water, an added 3% credit card fee before paying (they removed it after we questioned it), and an automatic 18% gratuity even though the food and service were not great. The single unisex bathroom smelled moldy and had dirty walls and an overall unsanitary feel. We will not be returning and do not recommend it. We are local and not visitors. We support our community and give honest reviews. Our hope is that the owner will correct the issues we ran into with this place.
What a of time. We stop there with the tour bus. At least five other tables were seated after us and 10 other people had their food. Do not waste your time! I repeat do not waste your time!
My husband and I ate here on Sunday and I'm this was our 1st eating a Cuban sandwich. All I have to say is this was the most disgusting sandwich I've ever eaten , the fries were a joke too! The service was absent and we never were asked for drink refills once ! The atmosphere seemed cheap and dirty and to top it off they automatically add 18% gratuity to your bill . Now we know why the waitress was awful, she was getting her $$ no matter what !!!!🤬🤬🤬. Don't do it guys run,run away fast!!!!!!!!!!
AVOID this place. As you'll read in multiple other reviews, this place is a scam that preys on tourists. Pretty sure that our post cruise tour guide who directed us here got a kickback on our incredibly expensive, utterly mediocre lunch. Tourists get tiny $4 bottles of water and locals get ice water, and tourists get crappy service with an automatic gratuity added. Our waiter seemed almost annoyed that we were there. Their responses to critical reviews that speak the truth tell you everything that you need to know. On top of everything else, the music was so loud you couldn't have a conversation, and the food was awful, zero seasoning and very little flavor. In a city full of great food choices, this is an easy one to skip.
Overpriced, unappealng, automatic 25$ gratuity fee charged to my card . Server brought out dirty plate and just flicked the food crumb off of the plate as if I didn't see it. Restroom was kinda gross too and who so these people think they are charging for dog food. Only reason I was there is because my friend and I stopped in our way back from cruise Miami for food. I ended up starving all day because Miami and Little Havana lost there damn minds . I'll wait till I go home and cook some real food.
A wildly overpriced tourist trap. The food and service are mediocre at best. A friend and I had lunch here. We ordered two lemonades, two entrees, and two super-tiny demi-tasses of Cuban coffee. The bill? $95.46. The menu states that an 18% tip will be added for groups of six or more diners, but they took the liberty of adding an 18% tip to a bill for two. We would have left a 15% tip, which would have been more than fair. There are much better options. Overall: I'd avoid this place.
