If you haven't been , go already. I love the honey mustard sub and the steak bomb, but they are all good. It is takeout only but they have some benches outside to sit and eat. Once you go you'll be back.

Aint NOBODY doing subs like Hungry Bear is doing subs in South Florida. Fluffy soft sub rolls piled up with mounds of quality deli meats or even grilled options like a cheese steak or teriyaki chicken, then showered with your favorite toppings and seasonings. I repeat...ain't NOBODY got it like Hungry Bear. I took my sub intake down to once a week maybe twice, just to limit myself to Hungry Bears on days that I'm off. Publix,Jimmy John's ,Jersey Mike's....none of them will do after trying the Bear. Also very friendly and helpful staff, will have you in and out in a few mins. Dont forget to get a drink, they got that "good" ice 🤤😍

Been going here since I was a student at MDC. Service has always been on point and the food is soooooo damn good ! Kinda wish they offered half subs but otherwise so amazing ! Oh and they have popcorn ice which is my favorite.

Hungry Bear Subs is a true icon in Kendall. It has been in it's current location for 40 years. All food cooked to order in front of you. The staff is polite and efficient. You can go there any time of day and there's a crowd of people ordering. The subs are flavorful and there's a ton of offers to choose from including hot and cold subs for any preference. Across from Miami Dade College South Campus, it is the epitome of a great sub shop. Be sure to visit.

I must say that today was a good day at hungry bear… Not only did I get what I ordered just right 👌🏻 but the attention before and after the meal was Perfection 🤌🏻 KUDOS TO THE STAFF AND I believe the owners Son who asked in the end of my visit “was it good ? Did you like your sandwich??” And as he asked me he said it in the most caring and optimistic manner which had me to reply “it was delicious “ 🤤 Great experience!!!!

I went to pick up my wife to go to lunch with no particular kind of food. Saw that there was a sub shop within walking distance. Boy were we surprised. On of the best non Jewish deli pastrami subs I’ve had in a while. My wife had the teriyaki chicken sub which was also delicious! If your in the area you should stop @hungrybearsubshop. Do plan to return. They had a very large menu.

One of the most iconic sub shops in Miami; the amount of meat they give you on a sub, you could make another sub with it! I try to eat here at least once a week! The salads are huge for those who don't want to indulge in the sub bread.

One of the best subs around the kendall area (size and quality).. maybe the best. Friendly staff, Food is prepared fast and tastes great. Would recommend trying the Honey Mustard Chicken. Only downside side is that the place is small and usually crowded so you have to wait in line to make your order. Still worth it though.

Great subs at reasonable prices. Awesome place to grab a bite before, during or after classes since Miami Dade College is across the street. You can basically have your lunch and dinner from how much meat and condiments they pack into your sub. They even have breakfast subs, salad options, and burgers. Staff are always friendly and help you choose if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Once you experience this, you’ll want to come here often.

I finally tried the Hungry Bear. I'm big on customer service and I happily greeted from everyone. Ordering was fast and sufficient, and food quick, fresh and sooo good. Prices are great for those who love fresh real food. And I will end on that note because this lil 🧸 is full 🤭🤩

By far and away my favorite sub place in all of South Florida!! I always get the full size honey mustard chicken on whole wheat.... Man is it good!!! I started going there back in the late '80s when I went to Miami-Dade, back then it was called the south campus!! It's a small place and it can get a little crowded at times, but no big deal!!! Everybody there works hard to get your order right and I've never had a problem!!

Been eating at this sub shop for almost a decade and it does not disappoint. Quality of the bread, protein and toppings are always good. Now that I live out of state, I make eating here a priority for at least one meal! Kudos Hungry Bear, truly no other sub shop that I've been to from Baltimore, D.C., or even here in Miami compares. If I could give this place a 10 star rating, I would! This is a miami staple and it has the most delicious subs both cold and hot! It’s a small location but they are so efficient with the space and the ordering process that it’s never an issue waiting a little for the deliciousness.

The best subs and salads! Friendly staff. Food cooked to order. Great option if you're in a hurry, food is prepared fast. Great value for your money. You'll definitely be full. I would highly recommend! Only negative thing is it's a small shop and no sitting area. There are two picnic tables outside if you don't mind the weather.

I have been going to Hungry Bear for years and still find them to be the best subs in Miami, hands down! They have all kinds of cold and hot subs and while I like their variety of sandwiches I usually end up getting a turkey sub with everything on it. This is a simple sandwich but the bread is amazing, the turkey is fresh and stuffed into the sub and the toppings are just delicious! You will love this place so if you want a great sub, go to Hungry Bear but be prepared to wait as their is often a line for a sandwich this good.

My dad has been going to here since the 80s and he LOVES it. The staff knows him by heart and when he goes in everyone is like, “sup John, the usual?” And then he took me and they all know me and my sister now. Love the food, staff is amazing, greatest sub place in south Florida.

I love Hungry Bear. They put so much meat on the subs unlike other places. For me, it’s the last great sub shop in miami. Nothing else compares to them. My favorites subs are Turkey Bacon or Honey Mustard Chicken but honestly every sub is good. Speaking of every sub I think they have like 40 different subs more or less but a lot. Awesome greT place and they make subs really quick. Years and years of experience dealing with high volume of people. I highly highly recommend. This sun shop deserves its flowers! Delicious especially when you’re craving a good ol’ Sub. I got the Corned Beef with Onions, Lettuce, and Tomato. Their own creations are great too! Highly recommend if you go to MDC, this is best spot for Lunch

We ordered a chicken steak and a Philly steak. It took about 10 minutes which is pretty reasonable. The sub was meaty, juicy and hot and huge in portion size. Each could easily feed two to three portions. Service was friendly and speedy. There's really not anywhere to sit and enjoy the meal. Some seating outside is rudimentary and not really adequate for even seeing a family of four.

A childhood staple of Kendall, Hungry Bear hasn’t changed very little in 20 years. Food is still delicious and the portion size is generous to say the least. My friends are jealous anytime I go to the Bear.

This place was overall so AMAZING! The sub was such great quality and you can tell just by walking in they make great subs by the smell and work ethic of the employees! I honestly did not know what to get when I walked in and Charles who works there was super sweet and helped me decide on what to put on my sub and recommended the steak sauce which was so yummy! I got the Philly steak and cheese, and I will definitely be going back for another yummy 10/10 sub!! 🙌🏽

Best Hot Subs in Town. I've only tried Honey Mustard Chicken (my go to), steak bomb and pastrami sandwich. Cost is around $16 out the door but it's a huge sandwich. Seating is outside and service is pretty quick. Been going to this place for years.

Been going to Hungry Bear's for over 30 years. I believe it changed ownership some years ago, but the food is the same, friendly reception. Prices are a bit high, but let's keep blaming covid. Takeout is the usual option unless you like eating in the hot South Florida sun.

Hungry Bear is a little hole in the wall in Kendall where they cook a great sub with fresh ingredients right in front of you for a decent price. Simple ingredients, simple food, incredible flavors. I did not give a 5/5 on the food bc the chicken was a bit dry, other than that? Everything is great across the board. Would recommend, would return!

They put the toppings at the bottom and then the meat on top. It's better that way. You taste the steak better. One of the best steak and cheese sub I've had. Didn't give five stars, cuz I would have loved some hot and crispy french fries. They don't have that there. Also the benches outside could use some cleaning.

My sister took me here so I can try their subs. When you enter, the place is small and tight. Go up to the counter and order your subs then step to the right to pay. Then wait to be called. We ordered the Philly cheese steak. Upon opening the wrap paper the sauce was all over. It was a mess. The meat was delicious but kind of dry in my opinion. I wouldn’t mind to try their subs again.

on the pricey side of sub shops, but incredibly tasty! i had the grilled veggie medley which included peppers, mushrooms, onions, and cauliflower- all of which were very good and fresh, not mushy like frozen vegetables. the bread was alright, but the mix of the fresh cooked vegetables with mustard and mayonnaise gave everything a killer flavour. would definitely go again to this delicious hidden spot!

If you are looking for a mom and pop sandwich shop, this is the place. Great service and quality. The only reasons I give it 4 and not 5 stars is that I've only been once. I think they should accept tips and they can be a bit friendlier. I feel like they are a little too automated with ordering on the sandwich bag.

Awesome place for subs. Service is super fast. My favorite is the Hot Pastrami on Wheat with extra Onions. Hot Steak and Hot Chicken Subs are also awesome. Wish location was bigger so I could actually sit there and eat inside. Always find myself having to fight off birds; but we'll worth the tradeoff.

I had the cheesesteak with onion and my husband had teriyaki chicken (he says a bit too salty)today. Good sub large size sub loaded with nicely chopped tender meat with all the fixings. We drove up from the Redlands and I would say it was worth the trip. Some nicer outdoor seating would be a plus but you don’t go there for the ambiance.

The quality isn't good at all. But definitely the portion is absolutely meant to be shared with someone else. Price is okay, and the service is wonderful. I’ve always enjoyed the Subs here, flavorful and great quantity. Like others have said one of the best in Miami. Staff is aggressive but not bad they’re trying to be efficient I get it. Subs Slightly pricey but reasonable. I went in today on 5/27/2021 to order and all the Prices had gone up. More expensive than before. Come on, $13 for a sub + more for your drink and chips??? That’s a bit much. I walked out without my sub, I can’t justify spending that much. This was my go-to sub place but I’ll have to find some place else. Hungry Bear you’re overdoing it with the prices and ruining it for yourself.

I ordered an Italian cold cut sub but the hoagie roll used was a bit hard or old. It should have been a bit more soft and for me the bread is key to a good tasting sub. I didn't care for it this time. I'll give them another chance.

I drove from North Lauderdale to come here based off the review of a trusted friend. I was the least impressed with this place. I’m really reconsidering my friendship with this friend. I got a cheese steak & Onion sub with mayo, simple right? Yea sub was extremely DRY and I finally saw and taste the mayo in my last bite. Customer service was great and it wasn’t nasty which is why I gave it 3 stars or and the place was clean.

Atmosphere is cool and subs looked good that I saw being made. I got a Philly cheesesteak but it's just not their thing. Other stuff looked legit tho. Might go back and try a pastrami or corned beef sandwich next time.

I've been coming here since high school in the '80s and the food is always decent but $14 for a sub. With a drink and chips it $20 in a place you can't sit down is a little over the top. Honestly most of it's bread...

I visited before this place when making deliveries(Uber eats, doordash etc). I decided to give it a try due to the reviews. The employees are really friendly and take care of you as soon as you enter the door. The amount of meat and the size of sandwiches are really good. Plus the bread tasted really good. The 3 stars it’s due to: 1. The steak was kind of dry. It had good taste but need some moist or not to overcook. 2. I asked for provolone cheese and it had NONE. I literally opened the bread and remove some meat and it was dry. Usually Philly steak have melted white American cheese and that will help for the moisture. I’ll be giving it another try soon and I’ll be updating my review. Really good potential just need some touches to make it An Awesome Place.

It was very expensive for a steak sub. There was a lot of meat, though . Was not too flavorful and could have been cooked more . It was kind of busy when I went. it almost feels like it was rush cooked . 48.00 for 2 whole subs a coke and 2 bags of chips.

I'm so disappointed with my Philly cheese steak. Lots of meat, unfortunately it was chopped up so fine that was more like dry hamburger meat. Couldn't find any cheese and only a very few pieces of onions and peppers. The only reason I gave 2 stars on food is cuz the Italian sub was good.

This used to be by far and away my favorite sandwich shop. Even after moving away from Miami, I make it a point to eat here Everytime I'm in town (which is quiet often). However, the last time I ate here I was disappointing to find about %40 less steak on my steak sandwich. I took a bite and was taken back to have a mouth mostly full of just bread. Of course, the sandwich was still full priced. If this is their new standard procedure, then this place is a joke and far from worth the money. If this was a fluke, then they have some staff changes to make.

Not the same Hungry Bear as I remember. Ordered two steak bombs. Don't believe half the ingredients were included. Everything is diced up so small, you lose all the flavor. Couldn't find any cheese in it, mushrooms were chopped so small couldn't even taste them. Asked for jalapenos, absolutely none. Very disappointed. Probably my last time going.

Now what it used to be. Sadly, like so many other Miami staples, Hungry Bear has raised it prices, made it portions smaller and don’t put the care and attention they used to into making your sandwich and providing a great experience. Hopefully Hungry Bear gets it together and goes back to the quality we expect rather than giving a half empty sandwich that’s all bread and little meat. Not sure I’ll be back anytime soon.

It’s an experience and has a long history but frankly don’t see the hype. Philly cheesesteak had virtually no cheese and the “steak” had no flavor, over cooked and seemed to be sirloin vs thinly sliced ribeye. Extremely overpriced. Footlong cheesesteak with tax was $18.78?!?!?!

This place was the best but since they changed the bread (horrible!!!) and put fewer ingredients especially meat, they are no longer best in my book. The last Three orders have gotten worse each time. I now consider them just another sub shop on par with Subway. I won't be ordering from here until they go back to the standards they used to have. I used to travel 22 miles and sit outside in the sun just to have their sub.

Haven't been here for over 10 years and was really looking forward to a yummy sub. Subs here are expensive, and my Philly cheese steak sandwich barely had any cheese on 1 half, barely. What was most disappointing was how a kind gentleman was greeted when he walked in just as clock turned 5pm. I checked my watch, it wasn't a minute past that. He politely asked if he could make a quick order and female cashier staff was very short with him and only said we're closed, no kindness at all. The way it was said made me and boyfriend feel uncomfortable and sorry for the dude. Shortly after, a customer walked in and asked for 2 waters and she was fine providing that to him. not cool at all, I'll get a yummy sub at Publix for a 3rd of the price.

They forgot how to make a perfect sub Cook all of the ingredients before adding the meat then adding meat and mixing all the ingredients together. My sub today was dry over cooked meat. I got a chicken honey mustard sub. Asked for Light mayo and this is what I got. A sloppy unseasoned sub that just tasted like honey, mustard, and mayo. I bought three subs for $65 . Never again.

Over horrible experience, non of the employees were wearing a hair net! I kindly asked to heat my bread on the grill and they replied "the owner does not allow us to the bread on the grill". So it's om not to wear hair nets but it's against the rules to heat up bread

I've been eating here since forever. It was the best. Not anymore. I asked for everything on my sub. Literally got one banana pepper, and one half inch tomato and one piece of cheese. I went back to have them fix it and they literally handed me the same sub.....8/. I don't know if management changed, but not going back.

Place seemed to be a really good sub spot until I went to place my order. If you eat out you know that a great mix when ordering a sub is the foot long steak and pastrami however there was no possible way for them to make me a sub with steak and pastrami because they had no way to charge me for it. Usually any other sub place would just charge extra meat or even the price of a second sub and mix in the meats in one sub but not this place they under no circumstance would make me a steak pastrami even if I paid 2 subs. Great job guys. You suck.

This is the second time I purchased a sub and the steak was plain with no seasoning on it no cheese just horrible I would not recommend eating here cause they don’t follow what you ask them when purchasing your food never again !!!!!!!! Dry ass sandwiches

I like some of the reviewers, used to come here for the steak and cheese sandwiches. I don't live in the area anymore but decided to stop in and get a steak and cheese and a teriyaki steak sub. The teriyaki sub tasted like a plain steak I think one bite had a taste of teriyaki. The bread is soft but no flavor. I would not recommend this store or their food. The cheese slice if it was there must of been super skinny. I asked for lettuce and onion on the side and asked the lady if she gave me that and she said yes. Well I got lettuce and tomato instead.$15 dollars for a sub and almost no onion in the steak sandwich. Disappointed. Update the cheese steak had a piece of white plastic in it about the size of a tooth now I'm at zero stars. Apparently there are no rules for cleanliness. Just unbelievable

Food was too heavy and messy. Place was dirty and taco chicken sub was disgusting. Went with my whole college group from MDC Kendall across the street and me and the whole group got food poisoning. This was 3 days ago and we are still recovering, our whole weekend just consisted of us being in the bathroom. Never going back, I would sue if I had the money. Need a health inspector there ASAP to inspect the unsanitary environment so nobody else has to go through this. Food was also overpriced

Hungry Bear Subs has gone WAY down in quality. Their "Monster sub" - I have pics, is maybe 3 thin slices of cappicola, salami, cheese, NO ham. You can see the little bit of thin slices just hanging off the side of the roll. The only thing monster about this sub is the $15 they charge. My husband is through with this sub shop. So if you like a salad on a huge sub roll, get the "monster".

My last two times here is my last time. The sub's are way smaller, they are virtually flavorless... The most flavor in my pepper steak and onion sub was the 2 pickles they kindly splurged on. I have been going to Hungry Bear since I was a kid in the 80s riding my bicycle there. I have noticed in the last couple of years the quality has gone down substantially: steak sandwiches over-cooked with bad quality meat, less and less quantities of meat in the cold cut sandwiches etc. This last sandwich was the final straw for me. As you can see in the picture, this is a bread and lettuce sandwich with a little bit of meat as a garnish. You can see from where I am grabbing it that there there is no more meat before or behind this little bit until you get all away across the sandwich where the other half of the slice is located. I later called to ask to speak to a manager to inform him/her that I asked for an Italian cold cut sub, not a bread and lettuce sandwich, but was told that they have no manager, just someone that comes in a couple of times a week. I don't know who the person is or what their title is but it sounds like the owners of this shop simply gave up on providing quality sandwiches. I was also saddened to hear how the previous manager was ridiculously overworked. He only had one day off a week and was a nice guy who always greeted people with a smile and the place hasn't been the same without him. So thanks for paying back years of loyalty with sandwiches so poorly made, they are almost acts of aggression. Bye Hungry Bear, you were great in the past but you are no better than Subway now.

There is a new girl in there that I’ve never seen before who’s very rude, I’ve been coming here for the longest but since she’s the face of the business it sucks, I got her caught I making fun of me with another worker, very non- professional move, it’s a latina girl with black hair brown skin, somehow tall, for the owners please make sure to have better face for the business, every time I come now I feel uncomfortable, being a store that’s part of my childhood. Needs better cashiers, professional, nice and kind girls, not that.

Hungry Bear: I have eaten your delicious subs for years and I don’t have a complain about them. However, today I had an unpleasant and in my humble opinion unnecessary experience. I took my six year old to your shop today for the first time after a long conversation about the nutritional advantages of eating your sub over McDonald’s chicken nuggets. My son is not a picky eater and was excited about the onion mushroom combination in our honey mustard chicken sub. However, the sub was quite saucy and the his bread got mushy. I requested to BUY a bread and explained the situation, yet I was told it was not possible to buy just the bread. I politely asked again and I got another declination. Bottom line I had to throw away most of my son’s portion which was like $11. As we were leaving the store he looked through the glass door and asked: mom why can they give us one bread, they have bags of them everywhere?? Good question son, I said.

People hype this place up so much but it is trash! Extremely greasy and unflavored meat. I ordered the steak and onions with cheese and my bread is soaked in grease! I will never go there again, their subs are so expensive, and yet it tastes so bad. Nobody greets you when you come in, the atmosphere is not friendly or welcoming at all.

Asked for my steak to be cooked in olive oil instead of the cooking oil and they say they can’t do that. They have the olive oil right there on the counter to put on the sub but somehow they can’t move 6 ft and use it to cook my steak.
