Paperfish Sushi is an absolute gem if you love fresh, beautifully made sushi with amazing flavors. The vibe is modern, cozy, and super aesthetic perfect for a date night or a cute dinner with friends. The presentation is gorgeous, and every dish tastes as good as it looks. The fish is incredibly fresh, the rolls are creative, and the menu has so many unique options that it’s hard to pick a favorite. The cocktails are just as impressive, and everything comes out with great attention to detail. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overwhelming, which makes the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Overall, Paperfish Sushi is a must-try for sushi lovers. The quality, atmosphere, and flavors make it worth every visit.
We love Pia! She was awesome. Tailored to our needs of menu and taste with great recommendations.
Interesting Peruvian/Japanese restaurant. Interesting menu and excellent service. Some of the menu items are never heard of before. Good Japanese food with Peruvian twist.
We sat outside & had Juliana has our server. We loved all of our dishes & the service was great!
Our meal was awesome, and Enzo took amazing care. We got two of the Omakasi Signature meals, and it did not disappoint.
We stopped by here for happy hour and go enjoy some sushi. Please note the location is pretty interesting. It's before the train station, behind a restaurant..it's as if you're going into a parking lot and it's tucked away. Yeah u know that's a lot but it really gives the feel of hidden gem. The service was great we had a lovely waitress who was very knowledgeable of the menu. It was a Wednesday evening so it wasn't crowded or so busy. The decor and ambiance was really lovely. Now on to the food. We were not blown away by the options on the happy hour menu. We only ordered cocktails and the edamame from the happy hour menu. The cocktail was a big size for the price BUT it tastes more like juice. We decided to order rolls from their regular menu. We had the ACEVICHADO and SALMON FURAI rolls. I can't say we would go back because we are not in that area often. However, we would recommend it to our friends in that area of Miami.
Fantastic food in a beautiful room . Highly recommend . In my top 5 for Rock shrimp tempura
I would rate it 6/6 stars if I could. Jason, our waiter, was absolutely incredible. This place is an absolute gem in Miami. Low key vibes and impeccable service. Paperfish is, without a doubt, my favorite sushi restaurant in Miami. The food is absolutely incredible - the fish is always fresh and flavorful, and the chefs are incredibly creative with their rolls. I've never had a bad dish here. The service is also top-notch - the staff is always friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is also great - the restaurant is stylish and modern, but it still feels warm and inviting. I highly recommend Paperfish to anyone looking for a great sushi experience in Miami. This place feels like a speakeasy. Hidden right next to the metro rail. Stop reading this and go!
What a find! We were casually strolling around Brickell and saw the cute entrance to Paperfish. Intrigued by it we decided to have lunch there and my I’m so glad we did. Service is top notch. Food is delicious. Everything we ordered was fantastic. My Bento box was full of flavor and plentiful. The zucchini spiral salad was fenomenal as were the sushi and truffle infused fry rice. Dessert was also decadent to close a fabulous meal. We are coming back with our friends for sure.
I had the best sushi ever! It was a beautiful place! The papertuna and acevichado was amazing! Great service thank you Vanessa!
Pia was a great server and the sushi was the best we’ve ever had. Highly recommend the ceviche sampler- so fresh & delicious!!
The food was amazing. They have a really good Happy hour. The service of the bartender Vanessa was really good !
I couldn’t imagine how amazing my experience here would be. First off, my food was great but my server was even better. I can’t say enough about how well I was taken care of and kind Joselyne was. I had a cocktail, a roll, a side of crispy rice, and the cod was to die for. The cod was the mvp(after my amazing server). Every single thing I ordered was at Joselyne’s suggestion and I was thrilled with everything. I travel here quarterly and cannot wait for my next visit. Hopefully I can bring more people to join too!
I absolutely loved this place. I visited here for dinner on a weekday. Andrej was our server and he was great. Honestly, I enjoyed everything I ordered. I would highly recommend the black miso cod bites, misuna sushi, hotruffle, and the flower blossom drink. I look forward to my next visit here.
We discovered this restaurant yesterday and we all fell in love with it. Chris, the manager, immediately accommodated us even though it was quite busy and we didn't have a reservation. We sat at a high table and were able to order from the Happy hour many, which is fantastic, you cannot beat those prices, especially for the quality of the food!! AND THE DRINKS! Jorge was our server, very nice and knowledgeable. Chris kept checking on us to make sure we were satisfied. The ambience is spectacular, we were having a conversation and at no point I felt like the noise level was bad, the food was to die for and we loved the cocktails on the menu. I will make this my favorite Japanese spot in Miami and they will be seeing a lot of me there!! Go try it and thank me later!
i love this restaurant. the wasabi martinis are 10/10. Vanessa and Maria made us drinks that were spectacular! the food is also amazing and fresh
I came here with friends and family to celebrate my 27th birthday and I loved it! I have a gluten allergy and our server was very attentive to my allergy. She provided GF soy sauce. I also had a lychee martini and it was very good. I loved the ambiance as well. Overall, I would recommend and plan to return soon!
I had an amazing dinner at Paperfish. The drinks were amazing. Then we had the crispy rice appetizer and for dinner we tried acevichado and wagyu in the rock. To finish, we opt for the cream bule which was well made and flavory. The restaurant looks pretty and well decorated. I recommend it.
This was a great discover for my and my family, we all love sushi, let me tell you this place is bananas, shot the front door wherever you want to call it. The food is absolutely delicious and amazing. The place is beautiful and super modern with Japanese touches. Our server Joseph, he was super knowledgeable about everything drinks and food. Highly recommended for any occasion.
We came here to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary and It was the best choice we made. The best sushi we ever eat!!! This places is amazing first for the food and second for the beautiful atmosphere. The drinks were also really good.. pricey but worth it 100% they have one of the best expresso martinis I’ve tried. We can’t leave behind the awesome service!! Diego was our waiter and he really took care of us! We will definitely go back and recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant has a great environment, really appreciated that it's not a big place and the atmosphere is cozy. But most importantly, food was amazing. Sushi rolls couldn't be any more fresh, however the dishes that made me fall in love with the menu were the black cod (you shouldn't leave without having it) and the tuna tataki. Cocktails menu is a great proposal as well, don't miss out on the Cucuzaki, a very refreshing cocktail I highly recommend.
Pia was our server and she was very attentive, had great recommendations, and could not have been more pleasant!
I have never written a review before, but under these circumstances, I feel that I must fulfill my civic duty and clarify my fellow citizens. Paperfish is amazing! Everything is ALWAYS FRESH and each ingredient is spectacular even the spices and condiments. Beautiful and sophisticated space, with thematic decoration and staff with a smile on their face to serve you. There is nothing on their menu that I don't like immensely. As you can see, I could go on and explain the entire menu in the same light. This place is beyond great!
The food and atmosphere was great! Our server Pia was attentive and very kind. Can’t wait to come back!
I only eat vegan sushi and paper fish actually had an amazing vegan roll. I got the tropical roll with the passion fruit sauce and it was so so good. Always thankful when I can get a good roll that's not just avocado or Cucumber. Also the service was amazing and we loved the vibes.
Amazing atmosphere, food is top tier. Our server Pia was friendly and very helpful with helping with choosing what to eat! Amazing restaurant very good vibes overall!
Overall my experience at Paperfish was amazing! The ambiance and service was truly exceptional. We received our meals so quickly!! Several must try’s include Maguro-FOIE, Acevichado and the Salmon Aburi! I really enjoyed the dragon fish cocktail!! My all time favorite was the Thai Tea Crème Brulee! Like do not leave without trying that for dessert! It’s so delicious.
Delicious delicious!! Fish/seafood was fresh, drinks were great, atmosphere was appropriate for a relaxed date as much as for an outing with friends/family… everything was good but would highly recommend the scallop nigiri (if you like truffle oil), the bao appetizer, and the acevichado maki roll. Paperfish has multiple locations which is great when looking for good sushi at a decent price. Would go back!
Very good, fresh and authentic sushi in the heart of Brickell… right beneath the last stop (Financial Centre) of the MetroMover. Nice ambiance and the staff make u feel welcome when you arrive. I went during Happy Hour (between 4 and 6 pm daily). Andre explained to me that there are particular items - food and drink - available at very good prices. I took his recommendation - 4 pieces salmon nigiri and house selection of 4 pieces of sashimi - and all was excellent. Their sushi size is smaller - more authentically Japanese - so you can eat it in one bite. The salmon was incredibly fresh and tasty as was the tuna. I ordered a second helping of the salmon nigiri as well as a unagi hand roll that was also (small) tasty. Overall, an enjoyable light meal. Very reasonably priced for the quality provided. And in a pleasant atmosphere. Andre was very helpful with his suggestions and you could tell he was proud to work there. I will be back again for one of the nigiri specials he recommended and my favorite - fresh scallops.
One of the best sushi spots I’ve been to so far and I am very picky especially with seafood since I’ve been to such amazing spots and worked at an upscale sushi restaurant all of high school. The Misuna and Hamachi Jalapeño Rolls were my favorites. The rainbow roll and shishito peppers were also very good. The wagyu steak, which comes on a hot stone to cook yourself, was rather underwhelming. Very small amount of meat for a high price, but still was good - I probably wouldn’t order this again and would rather just get more rolls. Crispy salmon rice was also okay. Finished off our meal with the mochi ice cream which came with strawberry, matcha, and caramel. All very good!! The cucazaki cocktail was so tasty and refreshing but still had a kick to it!! Our server Joanna was so sweet and attentive. Ambiance was very lively and it had a great atmosphere with cool and unique decorations!
The food was amazing. The drink were good. The espresso martinis are from another world. The service at the bar was amazing the girls give me a really good recommendation. Vanessa and Maria are amazing ! Perfect place to go to a date, with friends or alone.
INSANE food!!! Pia was amazing. We’re so impressed it’s some of the best food we’ve had out here. Tried Sexy Fish which is supposed to be the “spot” and it was absolute trash…. Influencer hell and old fish. Then we come here and it’s the real deal!! A little hard to find but oh so worth it
Wow! Would highly recommend this place. We came for the Miami spice menu and the food was just incredible. The sushi was so fresh, the fish literally just melted in your mouth. Absolutely amazing. And we had the miso cod...man that did not even taste like fish. It just tasted like a cake or something. So well cooked, felt like I was eating a dessert or something haha. Long story short, definitely try this place!
Forgive me. I forget the waitress's name. I think it was Kelly.. she was a delight. Very polite and punctual. Explained what the popular things were on the menu. Provided great service. The ambiance of the restaurant was awesome. Upbeat music. Well lit. Nice decor of the restaurant and the presentation of the food was phenomenal. As with the drinks, we ordered five sushi rolls that came with 10 pieces each, soup and had the paper mule whiskey drink it was outstanding.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ First-Class Experience at Paperfish Sushi on Española Way! Allison and Joy truly went above and beyond to deliver first-class service — prompt, friendly, and incredibly attentive from start to finish. The atmosphere on Española Way is such a vibe — lively, colorful, and full of energy — and Paperfish fits right in perfectly. The food was phenomenal — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I’m not even usually into sushi, but they offer such a variety of dishes to suit every palate that I was genuinely impressed. Everything tasted so good and was prepared with care. If you’re in Miami Beach, do yourself a favor and stop by Paperfish — and if you’re lucky enough to have Allison and Joy take care of you, you’re in for a treat! 🌸🍣✨
Lovely ambience with a cozy and modern vibe. The sushi is fresh and nicely presented. The staff were attentive and polite, making the whole experience enjoyable. A pleasant place to visit in Miami.
Probably the most fresh sushi I’ve had in a very very long time!! I had the salmon with avocado and sesame seeds and it was divine!!! My friend had the jalapeño sushi roll; also delicious. Wish I had taken a picture but I ate it so quickly that there was no time haha Also the service was spectacular and the food came out quickly. The restaurant is also very nice and decorated beautifully. 10 out of 10!
The omakase at Paperfish was absolutely incredible and well worth the money. It was the perfect amount to split with someone else and still be full! The lychee martini was also divine, one of the best I’ve ever had. Even though we were one of the last customers left at the restaurant, the staff didn’t rush us or kick us out. Incredible food and very professional team!
Had a great experience at Paperfish tonight. The restaurant is lively and I thought the decor was beautifully done. Most importantly, though, the sushi was really good and very fresh. I would definitely return and highly recommend this establishment. Paperfish is a solid sushi spot within the Brickell area.
My wife, friend, and I ate here for dinner on Sunday 10/20. The places has a very unique vibe and it is tastefully decorated. We first ordered drinks. I had the Wasabi Martini which was okay, nothing to brag about and also had the Cucuzaki which was delicious and well made. My wife and friend had the Flower Blossom drinks each, and also the Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini and Hanami Champagne which they enjoyed. For starters we ordered the Tiradito Apasionado which is ceviche with Passion Fruit flavor. While it was not bad, I think it was too sweet and took away the flavor of the Salmon. We also had the Nikkei Ceviche which was delicious, and we had the Gyoza a la Nippon which were just okay if i may say so myself. The Crispy Rice were not the greatest in our opinion, rice was too hard to chew since it was fried. For the main course we ordered the Paper Tuna roll, Misuna roll, and Acevichado roll which were all fantastic and delicious. While the server was mostly nice she seem kind of "done for the day" since we left when it was time for them to close. Overall, the food was good, drinks were good and the vibes of this place were good too. Will come back and dine here again.
Well priced for happy hour and the playlist was great! Sad I hadn’t been here sooner. Thanks Richard for your service and great hospitality!
My Flower Blossom cocktail had to be one of the best drinks I've had in a very long time! Highly recommend trying it. Also liked my sushi choices. Very tasty. The ambiance is spectacular and something out of a movie. Our server Marilda E. was absolutely fantastic too!! Hands down my favorite dining experience on my vacation to Miami.
We eat sushi at least a few times a month and I would rate this among the best 3 sushi restaurants we have ever eaten at. Ambience, great; Joy, our sever, fantastic: the food, simply amazing. Few places are really five stars. This one is.
Beautiful place, excellent atmosphere, delicious cocktail and food was amazing. Very cozy place full of flowers, totally different. I love the food, looking forward to go back. Everything we try taste so good and the cocktail OMG you want more and more. You have seating outside as well, very romantic place! Totally recommended for any ocasión.
First time at Paperfish and it did not disappoint, we had been refered to the place by a collegue and were very happy with the experience, we will definitely be back. The food was fresh, creative and deliscious. The portion sizes were perfect for sharing. Our server Joseph was extremely friendly and attentive and provided exceptional service and recommendations that we loved. Thank you for a great dinner!
Pia was the most amazing server I’ve ever had!! The food was insane! Coming from NY - honestly it was the best value and quality. At home it would be twice as expensive. This place was maki magic!
Love this place! The food never disappoints and their cocktails are so good. The atmosphere is top tier! We went here last night for my fiancee's birthday and Juliana was great, super attentive and suggested a few good drink options for us to try!
As a customer, I can honestly say that Vanessa provides an outstanding experience every time. She is friendly, attentive, and truly makes you feel welcome from the moment you sit at the bar. Her service is always professional, fast, and detail-oriented. She takes the time to understand what you like and makes excellent drink recommendations. Every cocktail is made with care and consistency. What really stands out is her positive attitude and the way she creates a great atmosphere. You can tell she genuinely enjoys what she does, and it shows in her service. I always look forward to being served by Vanessa and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for top-quality service.
I had an amazing meal here. I sat at the bar and Maria and Vanessa took amazing care of me. The service was incredible, the drinks were fantastic, and they were super friendly. The happy hour specials were also amazing. The wagyu gyoza was so tasty. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is that salmon is the only nigiri happy hour special. Really good spot. So good I brought my colleague back 3 more times that week. I travel to Miami several times a month and this is easily one of my favorite spots now thanks to Maria, Vanessa and the crazy high quality sushi.
This was our first time dining here, and it absolutely exceeded all expectations. From the moment we sat down, Pia made us feel welcome and taken care of. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, which made the entire experience even more special. Her recommendations were spot on especially the sushi and the Ishiyaki Del Mar. The sushi was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented, and the Ishiyaki Del Mar was a show-stopper both in flavor and experience. You can really tell Pia knows the menu well because everything she suggested was spectacular. The food alone would make us come back, but Pia’s outstanding service truly elevated the night. We’ll definitely be returning soon.
I absolutely love this place! The food is so good. I would personally recommend the black cod bites and the chocolate cake (to die for). The manager Danny is very friendly and does a great job checking on the tables to make sure everyone is happy. We usually have Diego as our server and he is amazing. But even the entire staff as a whole is attentive and happy to help, seems like they work as a team really well together. Would definitely recommend this spot if you enjoy sushi and a good atmosphere!
Me encantó 💘 recomiendo mucho.
Volveremos.
Came in for just drinks (loved the lychee martini? and ended up having some sushi aswell, we really enjoyed our time albeit short. Our server Sasha was very attentive and friendly and made sure we were taken care of, nice atmosphere for a good evening as there are bars within walking distance to continue the night.
The location is a bit inconspicuous. Honestly I had higher expectations for the atmosphere as we went for NYE but it was just ok. The music was okay and they had some videos playing on a projector. The food was good but nothing to rave about. I enjoyed the nigiri the most. The himachi jalapeño roll was a disappointment. Drinks were good and decently priced. I really liked the passionfruit drink on their specialty cocktails.
My friends suggested this place for a happy hour on a Friday evening. I got there a little earlier than they did and sat at the bar and was handed the menu for the Miami Spice month. It looked good, but I really wanted to try the happy hour menu my friends spoke of. So I had to ask for it. My friend arrived shortly after and we ordered drinks from it. The drinks not only were delicious, but also very appealing to the eye. The bartender was a little inattentive. She was on her phone for a long time, and genuinely I really don’t care, but I clocked it because we were one of the only group sitting there, and there was two of us, and then there was another person sitting by themselves, and we constantly were trying to have to get her attention. However, a second bartender arrived within 15-20 minutes and really turned the night around. We ordered a lot of sushi off the happy hour menu and all of it was amazing. So overall, this is a solid place for sushi and an adequate place for happy hour.
Pros: amazing atmosphere! Absolutely loved the creative and immersive decor. The food and drinks were, for the most part, delicious. And great happy hour deals! The highlights were the tropical yasai roll and chocolate ganache cake! The miso shishito peppers were also decent, but definitely was lacking in sauce. Cons: my friend thought the truffle fried rice was bland (I disagreed with her!). The restaurant was quite loud (mostly from the music, but also because it was crowded on a Friday night), making conversation difficult. The main thing detracting from our dining experience was that our waitress was extremely unfriendly and inattentive.
I would recommend this place if you would like some Japanese food. It is a bit pricey for some of the items but it is good. Their wagyu fried rice and Wagyu bao buns were really good! I don’t know this time I visited they literally wouldn’t refill our water :/ but other than that this place is really good!
Good environment, but I think maybe it was understaff, it took almost 20 min to get my order, my sushi came after my wife ate all hers, so it was pretty disappointing, also the drinks came after the entrée, was all very uncoordinated. The atmosphere is nice, the staff is nice and kind but the times were all over the place. They include a service fee 18%
Great interior. Clean. But the menu is quite limited. Still it has some good options. Truffle fried rice, aburi and great miso soup. This is my third time here and unfortunately this is the only selection I was doing all three times.the food is very average. It’s ok, but not the best Japanese cuisine What could make it better: Menu improvement
Tldr: Very good service and excellent people watching. I found the food quality to be a bit disappointing though. Came here for a Friday dinner. Everyone that we interacted with on the staff was very friendly and helpful. In fact, because the service is so good, it was very difficult for me to give a four star review. Additionally, the people watching on Española Way is excellent - I think this is the main draw for a restaurant here. So if you mainly care about service and people watching, please consider this a five star review. However, the quality of the food is definitely not worthy of five stars, particularly at these high prices. Miami Beach has much better food at many restaurants nearby at the same price point or cheaper. That being said, nothing we ate was actually bad. It's just not particularly good either (with the exception of the ishiyaki del mar, which I highly recommend). I suspect the rents on Espanol Way are sufficiently high that it's difficult to serve really high quality ingredients and still make a profit.
The food and the restaurant ambiance were great. If you are looking for good ceviche and sushi, this is your spot. I couldn’t give this restaurant five stars because they automatically add a service gratuity of 18%, and when you pay, they ask for an additional tip of 7% and above. I don't mind the auto addition of service gratuity since I typically tip 20%, but it wasn't very pleasant to be asked for a tip again after you just charged two people for tips already. As with most popular restaurants in Miami, you have to pay for parking. So keep this in mind if you like to check this restaurant out.
Overall good experience. The food was very good, the service was excellent, the drinks were excellent, and the ambiance was great. Somewhat on the high side of the price scale. If you're in the area and have a craving for Sushi and Asian food, check them out, you should enjoy the experience and leave as a happy guest.
The food and cocktails were delicious, and the service was exceptionally attentive. I wouldn’t say the sushi is the best in Miami, but it’s decent. One suggestion: the restaurant could benefit from additional wayfinding signage to guide guests to the entrance. My partner and I visited for the first time, and finding the entrance was challenging. For reference, if you’re facing Barsecco, head down SE 14th Street, turn right into the alley, and then take another right until you spot the red entrance.
Paperfish was recommended by a friend who lives locally . His words were “hidden gem”. The atmosphere is great! The food I ordered was just average. I started with a tempura shrimp appetizer then the rice bowl with beef. Maybe I should have ordered Sushi at a Sushi place. Not much flavor with the shrimp mostly oily. The rice bowl was flavorful but the beef was tough with some gristle, not good quality. I think the worst part of the experience was the service or lack of. When I arrived the podium was swarmed with APP pick ups so I assumed they didn’t notice me so I walked just inside the door. One of the wait staff kept looking over at me but kept cleaning tables. Eventually someone came over and said “ 1 person come to the bar”. Guess there isn’t a choice but the place was virtually empty at 5:30 pm on a Monday. The person next to me ordered sushi and edamame. The sushi arrived fairly quickly but the edamame seemed like it would never arrive. She finished her sushi and kept asking for the edamame. The biggest surprise was after the lack luster service they automatically add 18% gratuity to the bill. This may explain the poor service. Hopefully this was just a one off
🌟Outstanding Experience at Paperfish Miami – Brickell🌟 I had the pleasure of dining at Paperfish Miami Brickell to celebrate a Birthday and it was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere is chic and vibrant, perfect for a special occasion or just a great night out. The food was absolutely exceptional, with every dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time. They surprised us with a chocolate cake that truly made the evening even more special—it was rich and the perfect way to end the meal. Thank you to the team at Paperfish Miami for such a memorable experience. We will definitely be back!! And when you go, tell them Flavia sent you, it’s a recommendation you won’t regret!
I'm happy that I found this spot near my hotel for a lovely sushi dinner. The tuna roll was good, and the nigiri tuna with Truffle and something else was divine! Edemame was too salty--like we are obsessed with salt, and sometimes I think restaurants go a little too heavy, which I don't need when there's lots of soy sauce on the table. Service was excellent and food came out very fast... like maybe too fast because I got my cocktail after the sushi was on the table. But overall, great spot with lots of space for large groups.
As part of my birthday celebration week, we decided to have dinner there. My cousin visited the location at Miami Beach and she had a Wasabi Martini there. It was a hook for me. I said "let's have dinner there BUT I want my Wasabi Martini". We got the Hamachi Jalapeño (Japanese Yellowtail Tartare / Avocado / Wasabi Jalapeño Aioli / Sesame Seeds), the Japanese Dumplings / Gyoza (Wagyu / Pork & Shrimp Served with Ponzu) & the Black Cod Bites (Miso Black Cod / Butter Lettuce / Crispy Phyllo Strips). All three good but the star was the Black Cod Bites, DELICIOUS! Of course, all washed down with the Wasabi Martini. However, the first one we got was not spicy enough and it was more lemony than wasabyish so we asked our server Jason. He told us that several patrons wanted to tone down the spicyness to which we replied "Are they nuts? Go and have a Margarita!" Our second Wasabi was spicy as it should be and it was FANTASTIC! The presentation of it is a work of art. See the photos. This will be a repeat.
This place is pretty good. The sushi is high quality and the drinks are actually strong and great quality. The drink prices in happy hour are excellent. The food prices in happy hour are good, but the portions are tiny except for the nigiri. I wouldn’t come to this restaurant outside of happy hour because the plates are very over priced, but it’s a great place to get a little sushi and a drink for happy hour.
We came here for Valentine’s Day and overall had a great experience. The food was excellent — the flavor in every dish was amazing. From the sushi roll to the dessert, everything tasted incredible and was beautifully prepared. The truffle fried rice was absolutely delicious and definitely a standout. The only thing I didn’t love was the timing of the dishes. The fried rice came out much earlier than our main entrées, and we had planned to enjoy it together with the Wagyu and scallops. It ended up sitting on the table while we waited for the rest of the food to arrive. Aside from that, everything was flavorful and well executed. We would definitely come back for the quality and taste of the food.
Hey guys, I recently visited “Paperfish” and had a mixed experience. The food itself was quite nice, with well-prepared dishes that were flavorful and enjoyable. However, the service fell short—there was a noticeable lack of attention from the staff, making it hard to get timely assistance. Additionally, the restaurant was extremely noisy, which made it difficult to have a conversation and took away from the overall dining experience. While the food was good, the noise level and inattentive service left me feeling underwhelmed.
We had a great time here - food was decent, not the best sushi but good. Our main complaint was actually because when order dessert the waitress really pushed the cake, and asked if we wanted a scoop of ice cream on it - it was in fact a normal, small sized scoop - and when we got the bill it was $9 for a little thing of vanilla ice cream next to the cake... we hate feeling like we're tourists that get taken advantage of. Just was unnecessary, so much money for that little thing of ice cream but what's annoying was just being manipulated like that after we were great guests on a date, who would've tipped on top of the auto gratuity. I don't recommend places that do this to my friends and family.
I am sad to give what was once one of my favorite restaurants a three or four star rating. over the last couple of years it really feels like the quality in service and food has gone down. The hot stone Wagyu used to be one of my favorites and now the meat quality isn't very good. The tuna foie gras and hot truffle nigiri are always great. The black cod bites and bao buns used to be great and recently seem a bit over powered by the sauce. The meat in the bao buns was a bit dry. Great menu, just the execution and quality seems to have declined. The service was also not great.. the bathroom was a mess and we kept having to flag down the waiter.
Had high expectations for their New Year’s special menu at $120 per person, but unfortunately it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Courses were not paced properly: before we finished one dish, the next arrived, and by the second course we had both the second and main course on the table at the same time. It felt very rushed and overcrowded. When the main course was served, utensils were missing and only arrived after a delay of about 10 minutes so we had our food there and waiting for knives to arrive. Definitely need more training to their staff. The food overall was quite ordinary. The tuna tartare in particular lacked flavor and tasted very bland. There were also no vegetables included in the courses, other than two small garnish leaves, which ended up being the only greens I had.
Update 10/9. Paperfish replied "Paperfish applies a standard service charge that is fully disclosed on our menus and receipts, and it’s distributed among our entire service and support staff to ensure fair and consistent compensation across the team." To this I respond. It is not the Publics responsibility to pay your staff. Compensation-That's your responsibility. And if audited I'm sure more than half of these restaurants would not pass the sniff test. Food was great — but the forced service charge was shady. The food at Paperfish was excellent and the server did a great job. But I left feeling frustrated and misled. A mandatory service charge was added to the bill without any clear explanation or signage. When I asked, the server said it gets split among staff and she only sees a small portion — but if I tipped extra, that part goes to her. Which I felt obligated to do. This feels like a manipulative tactic targeting tourists. I’ve eaten at several restaurants in Miami this week, and this was the only one to quietly add a charge like this. If you’re going to force guests to pay extra, be upfront about it — don’t make your staff explain it awkwardly after the fact. Tips should go to the server providing the service, not get pooled by ownership. Be transparent — no one likes surprise fees on their bill. Legislation should be written to force restaurant owners to pay staff properly and not tack it onto their patrons.
Average japanese food; nothing outstanding in particular Service is ok; fast but not offering a lot of assistance or suggestions. Basic mistakes as forgetting drink orders, and offering shoyu and wasabi. Beware of pricing scheme: the menu prices does not include taxes, 20% service charge and 7% tip charge; so whatever you see in the menu, add 36% Atmosphere feels crowded and lowed; not what you would expect in a traditional Japanese restaurant There are definitely better options to dine in Lincoln street
I should have read the reviews of the takeout service before trying it, as it turned out to be very disappointing. I've eaten there before since it's close to our office, but my recent experience was frustrating. I placed a pick-up order for the lunch special advertised as BOGO on their website not on a third-party site. However, when I went to pick it up, I was charged full price for both meals. When I brought this discrepancy to the server’s attention, he informed me that he couldn't honor the offer because I hadn't stated it when placing the order. This was unacceptable, especially since the receipt on my bag clearly showed that the offer had applied. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that felt dishonest and lacked transparency.
Extremely disappointed. Female staff at bar rude, unhelpful, bored, unprofessional. Standing around looking at their phones, not nice to me at all. No customer service available. 18 % included in the bill!!! Ordered spicey margarita & it was not spicey at all & only ok for a whopping 17 dollars. Sushi only ok, not bad, but service terrible so I'd not even consider returning. 100 dollars🫥
So disappointed from this dinner.. we arrived at 9pm and it took for them to bring the last sushi 1 hour and a half. So inefficient! The enviornment and decoration are very nice, Japanese style. I was hoping for a nice meal to enjoy... The only dish that was worth it is the black cod. Well cooked and tasty miso paste sauce. The flamed wagyu and salmon were not good quality and also were served cold. If in the menu you include the word “torched” I would expect a hot or at least a warm nigiri. Ours were served cold. Also the wagyu didn’t tasted like wagyu beef.. too lean and without the particular fatty taste for a wagyu. Service awful. We told the manager about the cold torched nigiris and he was not polite nor comprehensive. Same for our server. I know this place is new.. I suggest an intense customer service course for all employees. 18% tip is already included.. perhaps that’s why they treat you so careless?
Honestly, we like your food but every time we come here we have to wait 20 minutes and make three calls to get into that accessible entrance, which is also inconvenient going through Barsecco today we spoke to three people, and none of them knew how to access or open the door and we kept waiting for 20 minutes and left. I wish you could improve your service and Train your staff on how to operate the accessible entry for the future.!
Josefina C gave terrible service. Forgot our appetizer, left our table unattended the entire time being there, never came to check in. We wanted specific sauces, never bothered to come back after our food was served. Our entrees came in before our appetizer. And never once apologized for the service, and the best part was that the tip was included... very disappointed.
The atmosphere was great but the service was terrible which made our meal not enjoyable. We sat down right away but had to wait around 10 minutes before someone came to our table to take our drink order, and this was on a Monday night in which the restaurant was slow. After placing our order the waiter pretty much disappeared. He would come near our table to go to another table but never asked if we needed anything, how was everything, etc and we had to flag him down every time to ask for something. When we would ask for something he said "right away" and right away was at least 5 minutes plus. At one point we saw him sitting at the bar conversing with other employees. We were all set to order another sushi roll and would have but by the time he came back to our table we lost our appetite. When the bill came we realized why the waiter was so bad, an automatic 18 percent tip is added to the bill so he was getting a tip no matter what. The tip was not earned. With excellent service I normally tip 25 percent but this experience was terrible and 18 percent was way too much for the terrible service experience.
