Easily one of the best restaurant burgers I’ve had in a long time. The patty was a decent size, flavorful and cooked perfectly rare as requested. The bun wasn’t overpowering, the cheese and bacon were excellent. The Parmesan coated fries were really good, and I have to say the service was great. I will definitely be having a burger here again!
Our experience at Fire at the Ridge in Middlefield, CT was simply fantastic! We rented a fire pit and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere while indulging in some amazing food. Let me tell you, the burrata bruschetta was out of this world - it's easily one of the best things I've ever eaten! Pairing it with a pumpkin beer in the fall was pure heaven, especially with good friends by my side. If you're looking for a place to unwind, enjoy delicious food, and soak in the autumn vibes, Fire at the Ridge is the place to be. -Marisa Balletti-Lavoie
Best food I’ve had! Great service! Great food quality! Me and my husband love coming here to eat! We hate wasting money on food we don’t finish and we finished everything at this restaurant, from appetizer to our dinner. We would’ve gotten dessert but we were full! Complements to the chef!!
Had a late lunch on the patio. Very relaxing watching mountain bikers and zip line. Lots of families. Menu had variety for both young and old. Ruebien was delicious with nicely toasted bread. Avocado BLT had delicious thick cut bacon with tomato aioli. Attentive service for our needs. Eclectic customer base, many visitors from New England and Canada with families and high end gear.
Great meal at Fire at the Ridge. Enjoyed my steak, my wife enjoyed her gnocchi. Reasonable wine by the bottle. Will definitely go back.
I came with a friend and yes the service, at the start, was a little slow BUT the food, drinks and bartender (Ana!) were great! Started with the GF margarita pizza 10/10! Then split the Ridge burger and Caesar salad with blackened chicken! The burger was great, I did ask for a little extra garlic aioli and the Caesar salad was also very good. I would say the portion of chicken that came with the salad was on the smaller side but again, delicious non the less and I left full and happy! Ana, thank you, great to meet you! You’re awesome! Thank you fire on the ridge for an overall wonderful first experience! Will for sure be back and looking to bringing more friends!
Food was excellent. Beef on weck, the mushroom ravioli is hand made with fresh mush, and the fish on chips was excellent even though I don’t typically go for it. Pretty impressed.
Beautiful venue with a lot of good architectural design to the restaurant which brought in a lot of natural lighting. Only needs some minor ceiling leak repairs and painting. Service could have been more attentive yet it was Mother's Day, a very busy day. The food was very delicious and diverse, well prepared with the best large sized fresh shrimp that I have ever had in a restaurant in 50 years. Very nice sized slices of tender prime rib and vegetarian friendly. One thing missing were rolls/bread and the dessert bar was a bit limited. Great many chocolate desserts but not much variety of other desserts.
Went to Fire at the Ridge for M-Day Brunch. Service was attentive and friendly. Buffet spread was delicious! We felt so welcome and left with a food coma. Can’t wait to come back for another event.
First time here and visiting Middlefield. The atmosphere is very family oriented and the staff is welcoming. Our bartender Shawn was exceptional. The wings had great taste and didn’t take too long to order considering how busy it was!
The food was very good. The menu is not big, but they have definitely put quality first with their food. The servers were very kind and friendly, and kept a very clean restaurant. The atmosphere is nice with views of the slopes, a nice outdoor patio, as well as space for events. It's a little out of the way, but worth it.
Was pleasantly surprised by the fabulous foods and excellent service tonight at the game dinner. Menu was over the top and very generous portions. My compliments to the chef
We are locals with a young kiddo and haven’t been since winter (lunch). We visited from 5-6:30 on a Friday night for dinner. We had a memorable experience and were happy we chose FOTR. Our server was helpful, the atmosphere was great, and the meal was higher quality than expected. It made us question why we hadn’t been in a while, and why the mid rating. Husband had the ravioli - we all shared and we will definitely get again next time: homemade, fresh mushrooms, balanced & yummy sauce. The Fish & chips with Parm fries were good, and the Short rib grilled cheese was very tasty. The drinks were just OK - lots of ice, nothing special, but the HH (til 6pm) price tag was just right. Looking forward to our next visit.
This place is located on the ski resort. So it’s so convenient if you’re going skiing / snowboarding and had a long day and just want to unwind . I Came here after a long day of skiing on the mountain. Staff got us right in with no reservations. Not to mention it was Valentine’s Day. So We ordered 2 Cocktails to start. Lovebird Martini which included Vodka, peach tree, cranberry juice and pineapple juice for $12 Midnight Kiss Vodka, blackberry purée and champagne for $10 They were both good . For food we enjoyed the clam chowder for and Chicken Cutlet Sandwich - Fried chicken cutlet, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, hot cherry pepper mayo, American cheese, sourdough bread for $16. Restaurant was clean and staff was friendly.
My friend and I were looking for a spot to meet halfway between Glastonbury and Naugatuck, so we ended up at Fire at the Ridge. We sat upstairs, and for most of the night we were the only table up there. The restaurant was beautiful inside with its festive decorations. I saw they had an indoor fire pit, which I’m sure is so cozy when it’s on. Our waitress was attentive, and the food came out very quickly. The truffle Mac was delicious, but definitely more on the simple side, and we enjoyed the garlic parm wings and short rib with polenta. I appreciated their well-rounded menu. I was a little disappointed when the waitress brought over our check without asking if we wanted dessert because there were some interesting choices, but I guess we didn’t really need it anyway. This restaurant is so tucked back, I think it’s a well-kept secret! I couldn’t believe the restaurant wasn’t more busy on a Friday night, but I’m sure at Powder Ridge’s peak season this place is packed. My friend and I will be keeping this spot in mind to meet up at again!
Nice atmosphere. We were going to have dinner in the igloo bit it was too cold and the heater was too small to warm it up quickly. I wish they woukd have turned the heater on before we got there . I did make a reservation for the igloo.
A couple and I ate here early on a Saturday night. There was live acoustic guitar and vocals. The entertainment was quite good (and not too loud or intrusive) but didn't he didn't have much vocal range so it became a bit monotonous after a while for my tastes, since some songs just needed more range. The restaurant is nice with almost a home-like feel. The upstairs was rather warm so we chose to be downstairs. The bar is large and separated so that noise is somewhat contained. The service was a bit slow at times but overall, OK. They were a bit stingy with the bread, but (almost begrudgingly) after a wait, brought us more. The serving of unsalted butter with the bread was generous. There was no salt or pepper on any tables... A sure sign of fine dining and the chef's confidence? I felt the roasted peach appetizer was undercooked but tasty. The crab cakes were perhaps the best I have ever experienced, with very little filler. My salmon was cooked rare, to perfection. I tried a friend's steak and felt it a bit chewy but perhaps normal for grass-fed beef. It was a generous steak. They took away my silverware when clearing the appetizer plates and did not recognize that they needed to bring more nor did they stop by the table early on to see if our entrees were to our liking or if anything was required. Pepper... Small things, but not quite marrying well with the level of the food being served and prices. The ice cream sandwich dessert was very good and quite creative with only the slightest issue of a few slivers of almond in the cookies being overly chewy and tough. We agreed it was a very good experience and even plan to return in a week with more friends...
Fabulous fun during Covid - outdoor dining perfect for large family gatherings. Decent burgers, tacos, fries, reasonable prices.
Pretty good wings! No food on the happy hour menu but discounts on drinks.
I will start off with the food which was great. Vegetables with the chicken were fantastic and everything was cooked perfectly. Very nice setting inside, the did a great job remodeling the place. Service was slow and they were obviously understaffed but the manager was very helpful and apologetic. I will definitely give it another try. We were told there is also live music on Saturday nights.
The atmosphere was great, cozy environment very warm and welcoming. The food was very tasty, I had the salmon and really enjoyed it. Only downfall was the service. Our waitress had forgot about us and I wouldn't have been that upset had I didn't see her squatting on the floor texting in hiding. I finally waived her down as a reminder and was able to get my check. Fix the service and it'll be a five star for sure.
Ordered an appetizer (calamari) and the burger. Burger came out first for whatever reason. The calamari came about 15 minutes later?! Clearly an issue with timing. The burger was very good, but the calamari was soggy like it has been cooked in the microwave. I didn't order dessert and I'm glad I didn't. I saw the desserts... They didn't look appealing for the price. The atmosphere is a solid 10/10. Very nice restaurant inside. Live music was entertaining. EDIT: Gave them a second chance... Service is just poor, half in part as they admit, they're short staffed. However, the staff that is there fails at attention to detail. You can get a hamburger almost anywhere. For $18 plus tip, it's not really worth it. UPDATE 11/5/23 - Was there this evening with a group of friends. I'm bumping the service up to 3 stars as an average, though tonight was more like 4.75 stars. Appetizer brought out the same time as the rest of the food, but our server, Ana, was fantastic. Regularly checked on us and made the whole experience pleasant. Food is still average and a just a little higher than average price, but I'll take it. Not having to hunt somebody down to refill water is an instant better than average tip! Atmosphere is still great!
Had our office party here. Food was good and so were the drinks and server. It was a buffet so had a little bit of everything. Love that we had our own private area next to the bar and ample parking.
This is a beautiful restaurant but the food needs some work. Our waitress was very good and attentive. There was a seating snafu that management wasn't willing to correct even though there were lots of empty tables before and after our meals. I cant speak for the other dishes on our table, but I went the safe route and got chicken parm. The chicken portion was big, but did taste that it was likely pre-made (in-house) and frozen. The pasta portion was about half of what most places give, which doesn't make sense...pasta is the least expensive component of this dish. The live music was fantastic
Some of the worst service ever experienced. Encounter at host stand set bad tone. Server then Brought incorrect cocktail order, length of wait for entrees extreme, attempts to get servers attention comical. Food itself fine, just too much hassle to actually obtain it!
Good day to anyone who stumbles upon this review(: This place was a nice cozy vibe, a bit too warm for my liking but ok. I feel like they can work on a few things but the potential is there. If you’re going to have guess waiting almost an hr the least you can do is serve some bread and butter and make sure all the food is hot. I get it, it was probably busy all day but I watched everyone around me get their food and utensils first and was seated after me. I thought 🤔 maybe their food was easy to prepare. I did notice there’s a lot of young people working there so they are probably just learning. The food that was cold and I complained about was taken off the bill and our server try to make it right but at that point I was over it. But I still left a little tip for effort<3
Had a bowl of clam chowder for $10. Very small portion for the price. Chowder shouldn't be tangy and urine smelling. My wife's fries were day old and recooked. She did like here ridge burger.
An expensive mistake! Twenty minutes to order. Served 40 minutes later; Oysters with shell splinters, dry burnt Brussels with goat cheese and flavorless aioli, chop house salad “leftovers”, or so it seemed and “school meat” center cut tenderloin as my son referred to his meal. Chicken Mac n cheese and chowder to go, a cup of chowder with a cup of salt. A side of cheddar biscuit with your chowder, 1” square biscuits? $156 for 2 pints of great Two Roads from tap. What a mistake!! Visit for some brews and s’mores by the fire... maybe?
Thanksgiving buffet 2024 some of the food was OK. The turkey and prime rib was good but the service and the organizational skills of this restaurant was ridiculous. They ran out of forks. They ran out of plates. The women’s room didn’t work when they did replenish plates. They were completely disgusting and filthy and, they would think they would know how to supply extra forks plates and utensils by ordering or renting them or something. They were dirty plates on the tables and all over the place old chafing dishes with beat up lids. Some didn’t even have lids. I guess they didn’t have enough help but unacceptable to look at dirty plates while eating The desert tray was a joke. Save your money go somewhere else.
I have been many time, and each with a different experience. Unfortunately never an exceptional one. Today's visit was quick to be seated, howevr sat for 15 minutes without a server stopping by. Excellent location, but mismanaged.
Sat at a table for 20 minutes completely ignored. A group of 5 came in after me and were quickly taken care of. People on that patio were given great service. Inside not so much. I decided to move to the bar to better my chances of possibly getting better service. Waited another 10 minutes there. The bartender was not very welcoming. Let's call it service without the smile. The server staff is completely disorganized. If any place needs a good manager its for sure here. The food is nothing to write home about. Standard bar quality. Overall I'll say 2 stars.
The reviews about the poor service are spot on. My party and I only stayed for a drink because it took 10 minutes to order from our server and another 10 minutes just for beer. The atmosphere is really nice but thats about it.
Please do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else. One of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to in my life. Poor customer service, terrible food and overall a bad experience. I’d suggest cleaning the tables before seating customers. Also, better training of staff is needed. I could see this place being on Kitchen Nightmares. I’ve never tasted food so bad. I was going to take the beef on weck for my dog but did not want to put him through that. I’m sure his dog food taste better than what they serve here. Fire at the Ridge is a nightmare. Avoid at all cost !!
Awful. Our food was served to us cold and tasted like it was sitting out in the trays that they served for the wedding that had been hours before. They were out of half of the food on the menu however there were only three tables sat. And seemed to be slow all night since we got there at 6:30 and didn’t get our fold till 8:30. I ordered chicken forentine and got scraps for chicken compared to others that got the same. Broccoli seemed to just be steamed with no seasoning whatsoever and potatoes as well. Don’t recommend at all. Way too overpriced for the meal that was presented to me.
My first experience will be my last. I actually never ate any food. We waited 15 minutes for a table. The waitress we flagged down was very rude and condescending. There were three other families waiting for a table along with us, one of which had a reservation. All of the parties left as anyone working there couldn't be bothered. We went the Blackbird Tavern which was friendly, inviting and delicious. I gladly gave the my money.
Awful service and food. The Lobster bisque was way too salty and made my blood pressure skyrocket. Staff left several empty chafing dishes. My mojito tasted like club soda with literally no alcohol in it. We figured wed give this place a shot. The dessert table was an abomination. It looked like a toddler cut the carrot cake and the only other option was lemon bars. We won’t be coming back!
Immediately got a table but took 20 minutes to even get a menu...service was lacking but the food tasted okay once we got it. Then the stomach aches happened. You might as well door dash bubba gump.
I was looking forward to trying this place for brunch and was excited to to learn they make their own corned beef hash. Sadly, it's the worst I've ever eaten. They just take the normal large cut home fries and toss in severly overcooked cubes of corned beef. It also tasted old and left over. I asked for poached eggs on top and I had to send them back because the whites were very undercooked. I can understand poor execution if overwhelmed but the place was largely empty. Also, we were the first group seated but many others food came out before ours. Don't bother.
Had reservations but was completely ignored and had to walk through the restaurant to find someone to help us. Waited another 15 minutes for a waitress to come over. Ordered a burger that must have gone through the deflavorizer, I didn’t think you could screw up a burger but I was wrong. The waitress never came back to see if we needed anything or to ask how the food was, so i had to flag her down for the check. If you want to wait forever to eat sawdust with rude service, this is the place to go!
It’s been a few months since the last time I ate here. Food was usually good but both my meal and my partners meal was very dry, under seasoned, and at the least usually the fries are always good but even that was awful. Waiter looked angry the whole time and we waited forever for the bill. I explained our issue calmly and she said nothing. She probably couldn’t care less in all reality probably hates her job. Too expensive to have that kind of experience. Wasn’t all that busy and there looked like there was plenty of staff.
As I sat at the bar, the bartender took my Arizona license and handed it to anyone woman. The woman proceeded to tell me that my license was fake. I am 28 years old and Arizona licenses expire when the person turns 65 years old. She refused to serve me. Then when we talked to the manager, he said it is not a federal ID because it wasn’t a travel ID. Everyone was extremely disrespectful and not understanding or willing to listen when trying to explain that I just moved to Connecticut. Keep in mind, my friend has Maine license and they said hers was fine, however when my friend asked for a cider. She said apple juice? Overall, it hey we’re so unwilling to try to truly understand that my license WAS REAL. A 0/10 experience. Will not be coming back here ever.
Place was garbage, we came on a Friday night. It was dead, there were a total of two tables occupied, us and another family. It took us an hour 1/2 to get our food. When the food came out most of it was room temperature meaning it sat out for a while. The options on the menu are slim, linguine was lacking the Italian, the wings were dry, the burger I had was mediocre. I would of been better off putting a suit on and going to McDonald’s for a nicer fine dining experience. This place is absolutely garbage and I wouldn’t let death row inmates eat here. Food is overpriced and not worth the while. The only good to say was that our waitress was sweet. Either way a sweet waitress and a garbage restaurant is not a good mix. Stay away from this place at all costs… it’s garbage!
I want to like the place but can’t. We come here weekly because our kids do ski lessons and need to kill the hour. We have tried nearly everything on the Tavern menu and everything is overly fancy and expensive for what it is. It is also not executed well. For example Nashville hot is not hot, fries are cold with parmigiana cheese on them for some reason. There is a regular menu but the atmosphere doesn’t warrant ordering it at the bar and the bar service is so slow I don’t dear try sit down. It is crowded with poor acoustics and they also kids to come in and out in ski boots. The beer selection is good but never cold enough. The kegs are kept behind the bar and tapped room temperature so ask if it’s freshly tapped or it is served room temp.
Service was horrible waited an hour before drinks came (our waitress, not the bartender,) had to ask about our waitress multiple times, served ourselves water. Debated ordering takeout while sitting at our table, would have been faster…. Go with the food trucks if you’re at the ridge for winter fest.
My food personally was delicious, but the rest of my family ordered burgers and said they were flavorless. On top of this, the service was terrible. We had been there for about an hour and a half, and we got checked on a single time. We waited on our food for 50 minutes, and it wasn’t even busy. Regardless of how busy it was, 2 medium burgers, a kids pasta order, and a sandwich shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to cook, and I myself work in the kitchen. Would order the sandwich again, but only to-go if my food were to not take an hour to make, and to be treated like I was invisible. Terrible way to run a business.
If you want mediocre food at a massive price and absolutely ridiculously horrible service this is the place for you. No fault maybe to our first time ever server, but the service was delayed and awful. She (the server) failed to check in, we had to seek her out when needed, and waiting forever for drinks and food. Did I fail to mention as a restaurant you'll have no problem waiting in line for the bathroom as you apparently have to share it with the people skiing/snowboarding. They can't even separate those folks with their paying restaurant patrons. Oh and when you ask, it's slow and crummy because the kitchen and the bar are full. But yet open seats in the dining room! If you want a joke... I promise you, you'll get it!
Staff is extremely under trained, there is high school kids claiming to be managers, the restaurant is complete chaos on the weekends. My family gave them another try and ended up leaving to go somewhere else. The food is just OK but it would be a great place for some drinks and apps if it was ran correctly
The food took forever to come out and when it finally did, only half our party was served and we had to wait another 10 minutes before the rest came out. Our server barely checked on us the whole time. She also forgot to get us several things like drinks, condiments and our desert order. The best part of the experience was the drive through Middlefield looking at all of the foliage. Not a great place to eat. Better off spending your money elsewhere.
Made a reservation online for 8:30 pm on a Saturday night, just to get there and the kitchen is closed. Why have a reservation system if you can make reservations when kitchen is closed and what kind of restaurant is closed at 8pm on a Saturday? Plus had to find out from a random server who didn't really care to help just looked at us confused and running out the door.
Ate Easter brunch with family for first time here. We wanted to try something different. No one was there to greet us at the door. Once we went to get food, it was either dried out or completely empty and people standing around waiting for them to restock food. The chicken tenders and fries for the children were extremely dried out and so was the chicken and salmon, Prime rib line made no sense why would the sauce be first then the meat and so people had to get back in line just to get sauce. The shrimp was obviously seasoned with whatever the prime rib was seasoned with and it was a not so good seasoning especially on seafood. The lobster bisque was SUPER SALTY, and waited forever for them to restock it and only put it out barely half full. Waitress rarely came to table to check on us and the person pouring water spilled some on my child. The dessert was a nasty mess the cake looked horrible and the lemon tart was different colors. Why choose carrot cake? It looked mushed and cut so thinly it would break just from trying to pick it up. The waffles had a weird undesirable crunch to them and no syrup refilled. For the price expected way better especially since the place we usually go to on holidays is cheaper and better food and service for a buffet. Everyone should just go to woodwinds and forget about this place on special events. Wanted to give the benefit of the doubt after seeing the reviews after booking but thought for the price it might be a little better. Boy was I wrong. Trust the reviews on this place.
