I've only been here once so maybe I'm reviewing it in haste but I'll update my review if we ever go back and anything changes. We had a good time. The food was good and the restaurant seemed very atmospheric. I mean kind of a vintage sort of style that reminds me actually of my grandpa's house. I'm not even kidding like the carpet in there and the dark lighting with the vintage chandelier fixtures. Kind of did remind me of my grandpa's house but we sat outside and I ordered a burger. The burger was pretty good and most importantly it had those french fries that you whenever you see them, you just instantly know they're going to just make the meal more delicious and just carry it through. I'd also like to say that the food is reasonably priced.
Very neat little place. I liked the menu and the Docs “prescriptions” steaks were ok nothing amazing but not bad nonetheless. Vibe is very vintage.
We came here from Chicago, and our server Melissa J. was absolutely wonderful! So sweet, kind, and made great suggestions. The burgers, chicken, fish, and salads were amazing. The onion rings were incredible! Some of my favorites. Love the buttery croutons on the salad. Melissa was so friendly and easy to chat with! Such a great and relaxing dinner. Will come again :)
Great experience! Wife and I cruisin and getting hungry. Looked at the time, oh crap 6:10 pm on Saturday. Every place we drove by was packed. Pulled over and started researching places, picked Doc Pierce's and said we'll just wait in line. Drove to where it was and the area is beautiful, parked up front, walked in and was seated instantly with a very cozy spot. Waitress was incredible and on it. Drinks, ordered, received, chowed an incredible steak dinner and boogied extremely happy. Great time, definitely will be back! Rock On 😎
We stopped hear as we were through town for a birthday weekend in Michigan. This place has a really cool vibe. It is a bit more dimmed down than your average restaurant. The eclectic atmosphere makes it feel like home. We started by getting drinks at the bar before being seated. The food was really good. We shared a few meals. Will definitely come back in the future.
Great experience from start to finish. The outdoor seating was nice, and the building was beautifully built/decorated both inside & out with a real historic charm and gorgeous stained glass throughout. The food & service were absolutely fantastic, with decent portions, and very reasonably priced for the quality of food (especially these days). I tried their 12oz Ribeye with sautéed mushrooms & onions, steamed veggies, & Caesar salad. My steak was both seasoned and cooked perfectly, one of the best steaks I've had at a restaurant in a while, especially for the price. All of our food & drinks were fantastic. The only 2 small frustrations were that it took a while to get our check, and some of the wooden chairs at the larger tables have no cushion, which was rather uncomfortable after sitting a while, especially for my grandmother. But all in all, it was still a great experience & a beautiful restaurant.
My family loves Doc Pierces! They have been around a long time and their food is really good! We like going and the outdoor patio is so nice! A real staple for Downtown Mishawaka!
Old time steak house, has alot of nice display of stained glass throughout the place. I got the Steak and Chicken dinner, with side salad and cheddar bacon mashed potatoes with a Chocolate martini. Presentation was great, so was food, and to top it off I paid under $40 before tip for all this. If you are not hungry this is also a good place to grab a drink in Mishawaka.
Holy Smokes!!! The place was Hopping! Every time someone left satisfied, somone else would take their place for their own enjoyable experience. The waitress was on point, taking care of every patrons whim and nuance of the meal. All of this, while taking care of a handful of other customers, like a performer spinning plates on poles with the greatest of ease. As for the meal, the steak was grilled to perfection. The chicken tenders were huge with a fantastic tasting batter on moist white meat. The gulf shrimp were so big that they were their own best example of an oxymoron. The only thing that we were disappointed with at Doc Pierce's, was that we had to leave to go home. The good thing is that it gives us a reason to come back.
Absolutely delicious local spot, a "must visit" in the region. Friendly and welcoming, warm and inviting yet intimate and enjoyable. The food was delicious and came in good time. Strongly recommend reservations Friday and Saturday evening after 6 pm.
I was pleasantly surprised with my meal!! I will say that last time I was there, it wasn't the case. Something has definitely changed here, so I'm very happy to say for the better. If you've not been in a while, try it! It was fabulous!
Cozy Steakhouse in downtown Mishawaka. Great food at great prices. The interior is all wood paneled with stained glass insets. There’s a good sized patio on the side.
Been wanting to go here. Got the Ribeye, it was delicious. Food was great, service was great, loved the atmosphere.
Ehh lets go full order of onion rings, its only a dollar more...steak AND chicken with a salad AND potato...bread loaf? Sure! Needless to say we had a take home box x2! Such good food and the loft was a nice cozy place to eat on our rare date night. We will be back for sure.
Every year my daughter and I go on a 'Daddy Daughter Date Day Dinner', and this year we chose Doc Pierce's. I am SO glad we did. She had the steak and shrimp and it was just perfect. Her salad was a good size, had plenty of good things in it (we hate salads with little more than lettuce in them), the steak was cooked perfectly, and the shrimp were of a very good size and cooked to perfection. I had the steak and salmon (pictured), and it was likewise perfect. Fantastic flavor on both and seasoned just right. Even the potatoes were baked just right. I had the vegetables (broccoli and cauliflower) and again, just right. Just that hint of firmness without being crunchy, and great flavor. I had coffee, and not only got a cup right away, but the waitress brought a small metal carafe with more so I could refill as desired. Not to gush, but it even had just the right amount in it so none was wasted and I didn't feel the need to drink more so as not to waste it. One of the best dining experiences we have had in quite a long time, and you can be assured we will return. Likely several times before next year. Doc's is slightly more than other places, but in my humble opinion it's worth it. They were busy, but we got all the attention we needed from the staff and the fine people in the kitchen were just on their A game. I have no problem listing things that weren't as they should be, but there just was nothing to complain about tonight. Well done!
We have been regulars at Doc Pierces, several times a month, for over 20 years. Love the food, atmosphere and even purchased one of the Tiffany style lamps for our house! Went 2X this week and Lori Ann K took such extra TLC care of us! It’s definitely our favorite of all times! Feel like family there !!
Amazing food! Love the atmosphere in there. My aunt remembers going over 30 years ago and just talked about the stained glass that is everywhere. The coat/ purse or bag hangers at the booths are old door knobs and are just beautiful. Everything was made fresh, shareable portions and a definite place to take your out of town friends and family.
Great place to eat with a really nice ambiance.
This food is amazing. Every bite makes wanna cry with tear of joy happiness and just epicness. 1000/10
Old school vibe with a great French onion soup and Ribeye. Friendly staff, will definitely be back again.
This is one of the best places that I have ever been to. My husband and I frequent this place. The staff is always amazing the food is fantastic. There are a lot of different options to choose from and the croutons are amazing! Not to mention the fresh bread you get when you order main entrees. Their bar drinks are also really amazing and never disappoint, plus they are usually on the strong size :)
Great place to dine. Low lit casual atmosphere and service is fantastic. My husband and i are regulars for a good reason. We really enjoy the menu options and high quality food. And bonus....the onion rings here are the size of donuts! Clever mixed drinks and a decent wine list.
Wonderful drinks. Potato skins are you doe for!! 🤩 The home made croutons are also fabulous.
Great place to eat and have a bite with your pups. Onion rings were awesome as well as the Reuben while washing it down with a few beers.
Great cozy atmosphere that’s a total 70s cheers vibe. Lots of stained glass, dark, and woody. Great outdoor dining area and good service
Great food, excited to go back already!
phenomenal food I really liked our waitress she's super nice chicken tenders amazing if it were fighting a dragon it'd be slaying
We had a Christmas dinner here for our organization, and the private area at the top was nice.
I had the grilled halibut. I know, at a steak place but, it was melt in my mouth delicious!
Great food. Building is old with nice history. Nice staff. Affordable
Its like a time machine coming in here. I used to come here as a kid with my parents and it has not changed one bit. Its exactly what you expect. I am glad when it sold they didn't change a thing. Although the carpet could use replacing lol.
I must say it was probably one of the best Ribeyes I have ever had!! My server was amazing
Came here for a date night. Girlfriend got the regular Doc burger, was good, very much enjoyed it. I got the Bacon Jam burger, cooked medium, and was one of the best burgers I’ve had. Staff was attentive and friendly, atmosphere was great, really felt comfortable. 100% will be coming back.
Place is definitely unique. Food was great and more on the "upscale" side. Decor is dark and dated and not in a bad way. Thats probably what I liked most. We will definitely be back.
An old time favorite that I had not been to in quite a while. Our food was most excellent, my order was a steak with fried shrimp and those jumbo shrimp were memorable. I used to live in Florida many years and am an avid shrimp connoisseur, so to speak. Croutons in the salad, really made my Caesar salad far above the norm. My partner had a Mushroom burger and it was a very thick juicy pub burger sincerely. Our waitress, cheerful and provided fantastic service for our lovely winter date night out, stained glass images and low lighting surrounding us made for a sweet cozy warm experience leaving fulfilled yet wishing we lived closer to visit more often~! We will be back again and again. TY Doc Pierces and Merry Christmas
We had a good experience there, our very first visit. Loved all the stained glass and quaint decor. The food was good and pricing reasonable. We will visit there again!!
It's an older establishment, historical building, dark and cozy atmosphere. Food is traditional, like hand dipped battered onion rings. Wedge salad is great, French onion soup stellar and bacon jam burger delicious as well. Service is quick and accurate; good food like this takes time, and that's ok. It's a relaxing atmosphere.
The food in Doc Pierce was really good we had our standard bread that came in with the butter and then I ordered an appetizer of cheese curds with their honey Dijon sauce and they were good as well My doc's burger with pepper jack cheese and lettuce onion and mustard was the star of the show the baked potato wasn't far behind though and I upgraded to the loaded baked potato It was a really good experience for the food and the service was okay but could use just a little bit of tweaking here and there. Very nice atmosphere 😁
Our steaks were cooked perfectly and obviously they were great cuts of meat. They are small steaks. I had the teriyaki salmon and it was good but very very salty. The sides? Eh... The bread? Eh... The atmosphere is cool like a downtown Chicago steakhouse. This place needs some updating. The bathrooms? Oh my.... Go and decide for yourself. It won't be a place we'll go to again but we don't live close by either... All the stained glass is AWESOME
An old favorite of my Mothers. I love the low lighting and the stain glass lamps give off such ambiance. The service here is Solid and the food her is still as good as I remembered as a child. Looking for vintage feel this is the place.
Older restaurant serving really good food. The seafood chowder is quite tasty. I had the pork chops, very tender, tasted like ham. My wife had the pork tenderloin, she really liked it. The onion rings were also very good. Would highly recommend this restaurant if your in the area.
Great ambience, attentive and friendly staff, and good food! I was interested in trying their batter dipped chicken. It didn't disappoint! And those onion rings were massive!
Our first experience here. The food was yummy but I had to wait on my vegetables.
I enjoy a perfect martini from time to time but probably wouldn't order another one here..way too much sweet vermouth..
Dingy and dark. Resturant is in need of a make over. Ate supper here at 6 on a Friday. . Resturant was 25 percent full. Should have realized something was off. I would not recommend eating at this establishment the food is not good. Even the onion rings tasted bad. All grease.
Too dark in the restaurant..I ordered an 8 oz stake and got a filet mignon instead that was not worth the money. I would have been happier at Texas Roadhouse..
This place used to be great, has went downhill in the last couple years.. Not very good service and the food was just ok and that's being generous! Will not return
My wife and I had hoped that we'd love this place, and we were excited to visit, but ultimately we were so disappointed. The biggest problem is that the restaurant is absolutely filthy. The first thing you notice when you walk in is an off smell that is strong and very unpleasant. We were seated in the 'loft' and everywhere you looked, especially up high, was coated in a thick layer of dust and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The service was fine, and as for the food, we had hopes for something classic. We knew it might not be the best food ever, but for the relatively low prices we had hoped for an old school steakhouse experience to make up for it. The service was fine, but the food was pretty mediocre, even for the price. We brought family from out of town here, hoping to love it, but what a disappointment. Clean this restaurant!
Definitely not what it used to be! Stopped for a quick lunch, half a sandwich and a cup of chili. The chili tasted like it was made from spaghetti sauce with too much garlic and sugar. It was awful! The italien beef was tasteless and was made with old meet that tasted freezer burnt and the Ruben was made on toasted chesp white bread with something that looked like corned beef but definitely did not taste like it! Service was good as always. The smell of sewer seems to have gotten worse over the years. Not a great place to eat anymore. Definitely needs some upgrades.
Food was great, waitress was terrible! We first arrived & asked if we would be able to get our food quickly, as we were on a time crunch for lunch? We were told absolutely no problem. We ordered cold half sandwiches and a cup of soup. It took 40 minutes and the host had to ask the waitress to bring our food out and apologized. Brook was very rude & next time I will be asking for a different waitress. Other than that it’s a cute place on the inside & the food was pretty good.
