Food was delicious 😋...wings were amazingly crunchy and flavory...orange chicken was cooked to perfection...noodles..spicy salsa... rice... Asian beer...family friendly place...very inviting we tried a variety of plates....so yummy 😋 😊🥦🍳🥢🍜❤️🥰 great service 💞💕 thank you❤️
I ordered the fried wings with garlic. They were so scrumptious. I also tried the fried rice with shrimp 🍤 wow so delicious with added soy sauce. The portions are enough for four people. The price for the meal is fair, large potions and made fresh. You can't go wrong here the service was excellent as always. Highly recommend this family restaurant, it's so worth the drive from North County.
We went here on a friend's recommendation, and they were absolutely right—everything was delicious! We ordered the orange chicken, Peking pork chops, and salt n pepper wings. The food was perfectly cooked; the pork chops especially were incredibly crunchy on the outside. The sauces were nice and thick and sweet, and underneath that wonderful crunch, the meat was juicy and delicious. The service was also very friendly, and we received our food really quick. A great restaurant overall!
So there are tons of Chinese spots in SD. My favorite is Golden Chopsticks!! They are In my top five places to get salt and pepper chicken wings in the U.S. and I stand by that 100% The wings are crispy on the outside but tender and juicy in the middle. They are seasoned to perfection. Everything else is great but you come for the salt and pepper chicken wings!!
My all time favorite Chinese restaurant in Southbay. My daughter decided to treat me out for lunch and as always, has to order an army full of dishes. That’s her! Golden Chopstix has never disappointed, even 30 plus years later. And, what better way in honoring my parents and their spirit, we continue to dine in at Chopstix. It was their favorite Chinese restaurant too. In past decades, our family had celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries and just because. Even when relatives from out of state or out of country would visit, Golden Chopstix was usually our go-to. The food is always served hot, fresh, and delicious. Side note, the salted pepper chicken wings were not so tasty, it was missing the seasoning(s)we’re use to. The crunch and crispiness was still there. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with cooks having an “off” day, right. We didn’t bring this up to the server, as we felt it was minor issue. The rest of the dishes were on point and delicious, as always. The staff are more friendlier and accommodating than other local Chinese restaurants in Southbay. Servers are usually attentive and good about clearing dirty dishes and making sure kids are taken care of (hi chairs, baby cups, etc). The restaurant’s decor is set in traditional Chinese style and color. The place is spacious and kept clean. Before closing, I do want to highlight the fried crispy green beans. They were extra delicious, generously portioned, and cooked to perfection. Im not a fan of green beans, but I am now. It’s a must-try dish at Golden Chopstix. If you haven’t tried Golden Chopstix, it’s time to make it over and enjoy the variety of dishes. There has to be one to several delectable dishes you will end up liking 👍🏼
Update 2.1.25 A staple place for Chinese food. But this time they had an amazing Dragon dance performance. I hope you enjoy it. ***** Friends, the family went to Golden Chopsticks because the kids like it, and secondly they are always FAST!!! So I give 4 stars only because I'm generally not a Chinese food eater (though later I'll do reviews at other Chinese restaurants that I enjoy), I had a headache, and because I had to base some reviews off the family. So I will say the family enjoyed the Sweet and Sour Fish (fish is always a winner with me), Walnut Shrimp, Mongolian Beef (my favorite because it was flavorful and the meat was soft), and the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings (super crunchy!). I love Jasmine Tea, and took the remainder home in a cup. This place is always full of people even during the week, so you know it's a good thing!! Came again 5/18/22 changed rating to a 5. We ordered the Fried vegetable rice, orange chicken, and salt and pepper chicken. Lots of leftover, the food was delicious! The important part was that the restaurant was open for late night eaters. We came before 8pm and when we left some time after 9, they were still serving food. Prices a little higher likely due to inflation.
My SD vote for best Salt & Pepper wings as I've enjoyed Golden Chopsticks in National City for years!!! Large portions, and items arrive as the menu picture suggests for the most part. What I like most is that you can arrive hungry and upon seating know that your entrées will arrive FRESHLY FAST due to the efficient Kitchen set-up. Each station is equipped to do what they do best. The staff is friendly...busy indeed, so if your server is missing just grab the attention of another and you'll get what you need. Note that it's 8 of 10 times busy, but worth the wait...EXCELLENT for groups. My entrées on this visit include salt & pepper squid, fish fillet with brown sauce, salt & pepper chicken, house fried rice (you pay for rice no matter the type), yummy yum yum boba Thai tea, and I always get extra garlic/onion/red pepper seasoning in a bowl.
This place is epic. Do not ever sleep on Golden Chopsticks. This is a staple in the San Diego / National City area. Service: I don't know what y'all are doing, or how you're managing your employees, but the management is doing a great job. I've been here multiple times and everyone is super friendly, attentive and accommodating. Huge, huge fan - and I'm not even sugar coating this. Food: Okay, so potential controversial statement: the Salt & Peppered wings are good, but not great. And no, they are not to die of. They're pretty average in flavor, to be honest, but you get a generous serving for what you pay and it's definitely worth it. And most importantly, they're delivered fresh, hot and juicy. The green onions and garlic toppings though - mhm. Absolutely divine. I couldn't help, but eat spoonful after spoonful of it. A good bang for one's buck. Definitely order this dish, if you're looking to add some protein to your lunch and/or dinner. We also ordered the Beef Chow Fun and Orange Chicken, which were excellent. The Chow Fun was generous in portions, charred and cooked well and the beef was super tender. Overall, my table and I were huge fans. Overall, if you're looking for some comfort Chinese food in the San Diego / National City area, please check out Golden Chopsticks. There's a reason why you'll see a ton of locals and foodies frequent this restaurant at all hours of the day - it's worth it.
Really impressive Cantonese restaurant in Mira Mesa! I’ve never really heard of this place before, and my friend told me this place was recommended by one of her friends. And we loved here! We came here at Tuesday lunch time and the restaurant was pretty full already. We had a seafood&tofu pot, a Kung pao chicken and a stir fry rice noodles with beef. All of them are nice, I highly recommend the seafood & tofu pot, it feels pretty authentic. The owner also gave us a plate of fried wonton skin and soups for free. I definitely will come back to try other things.
We were told this place had excellent dishes and they were not wrong! It wasn't too busy, barely a minute wait. They have a lot of options on the menu, vegetarians wouldn't be disappointed either. The food tasted so good. I got the cream cheese wotons and the vegetarian egg Foo Yong with a side of rice. It was so good and so much that I had to get a to-go box. My friend got the shrimp soft noodles as well as the salted pepper chicken wings. He loved both but the wings especially. This place serves huge portions; you wouldn't be disappointed. Now the service. The place was buzzing with servers all round. Filled up glasses with water every so often, asking if the meal was good. They were so nice and helpful. I understand that this is part of their job, but they excelled at it that it must be praised. The only gripe we had was that they did not offer us a drinks/tea menu neither did they ask what we would have liked to drink. We probably wouldn't have ordered any drinks so it's not a major issue. Overall, this place is top notch if you're in the mood for some Chinese food. Despite it being a Chinese restaurant, don't hesitate to try out the lemon pepper chicken!

We arrived at 9:05pm and there was 1 other family there. We were seated promptly. We ordered 3 appetizers to start, Vegetable Egg Rolls, Pan fried Dumplings and Wonton cream cheese. The appetizers arrived quickly, and they were good. For entrees, we ordered 2-Salt and Pepper Wings, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow mein, and Salt and Pepper Fish. We loved everything except for the Salt and Pepper Wings. The wings didn’t really have that salt and pepper taste, it tasted like dry fried chicken. The service was good, the server was very attentive with us. We didn’t have to ask for a water refill. Overall it was a good experience and the food was great.
We had the garlic chicken, beef and veggies, and house fried rice. Everything smelled great... garlic chicken nice and crispy, but all the flavor is on the outside. Beef and veggies was pretty good but too many mushrooms for me. No complaints about the fried rice, it was good. For the low sodium crowd, no low sodium soy sauce, doesn't matter if the top is green.
Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings! Yup, it’s what makes Golden Chopsticks Restaurant and its rival Royal Mandarin so popular. Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings are a staple at family gatherings in San Diego but this is the first time I dined inside the restaurant. Golden Chopsticks Restaurant is a mid-to-large sized, casual, sit-down Chinese restaurant located on Plaza Blvd and Palm Ave in National City, near IHOP and Jo-Ann’s Fabrics. Getting here via Google Maps is easy but the parking is a bit crazy. It has a shared lot between businesses - plenty of parking spaces but most are unavailable during the weekend. Consider your vehicle choice before coming here because the parking spaces are tight for large trucks and SUV’s. The ambiance inside the “private” room to the right was beautiful - open and brightly lit with natural light. I say private room because our large party took up the entire space minus 2 tables. I loved the large artwork in the back wall. Noise level is loud here. The staff were able to service our party and get all the dishes and drinks out. The tableware was neatly organized and the condiments were plentiful and easily accessible at every table. We had a preselected, family-style menu across all the tables, which included their famous Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings. It was better eating it dined-in than served in party trays at the family parties I’ve had in the past. I did, however, like the Salt & Pepper Squid (Calamari) more than the chicken. The Beef Broccoli was my favorite of all the dishes. We also ate had noodles and fried rice. While I enjoyed the dishes, the post-meal inflammation did not. Overall, it’s a decent spot for a step-above-casual-dining Chinese food. The salt and pepper dishes are addicting but I’ll probably stick to the Beef Broccoli.
If you love shrimp fried rice, theirs is the best I have had in California!!! Their Salt Pepper Fried chicken and spicy pork chops are also can't miss. The other dishes were good but not great, including orange chicken and Mongolian beef. Food comes real fast and is always fresh. The service is very friendly. The prices are good for the amount of food and quality of food. The only negative thing is the location, in a strip mall, is very basic. But parking is never a problem!
Food was really good and very fast service. Maybe a bit too fast our appetizers came out with the main dishes making the dishes lukewarm by the time we finished appetizers and soup. It’s a very popular restaurant so expect to wait about 20 minutes. It can be a bit loud and crowded my chair had zero space from the person behind me. I did notice one main dish was a little bland but maybe it’s not the house favorite but overall and most importantly it good food and great service.

Food was good but was expensive. just for two was 50 dollars. All we got was basic fried rice, an order of wings, and a fried dumpling appetizer.
Great restaurant with very good food and good service. We be coming here for years but today there were two very disturbing issues when it comes to sanitation. Attaching two pictures. First one shows a little hair on the bottom of the dish.... Revealed after consuming almost all of it... Second, it looks like one of the chef was in the bathroom which is fine except that they hung up the apron in a way where the strings are touching the floor. Unfortunately this means even if they wash their hands cleanly afterwards they will be touching the string that was touching the bathroom floor when they tie up their apron.... Seems like they just need some refresher course on food handler course...
I went here for the salt & pepper wings since a lot of people have recommended them. I was not impressed, there are other places that make them better in Chula Vista. I could taste the re-used oil in which they were fried, its taste was too strong. The fried rice with shrimp was not very tasty, ordinary at best. The orange chicken was alright, but too much filler and very little chicken. Portions were generous. Service was ok. For 3 dishes, it was around $65 before tips, a little too expensive for the quality of the food, in my opinion. Might come back and try other dishes, but not soon. Also, it was a busy Sunday night so things were a little rushed, which could have been a factor in the low quality of the food.

March 13th: UPDATE REVIEW: Wanted to give it another try for take out. This place is a scam when it comes to salted pepper wings take out. Now there are 15 pieces. With that said, last week, they took out 3 pieces when I ordered an additional item, after I paid first and no tip! Good thing I didn't again today! Won't see one ever again. March 6th: I've been coming here for many years, but my recent takeout experience left me disappointed. I ordered the salted pepper wings and received about 1.5 cups of green onions with them. For $20, I got only 12 pieces, whereas dining in, my wife and I usually get AT LEAST 15 pieces. I don't think I'll be ordering takeout again—it's better to dine in for more food. I also called to order one item, and when I called back a few minutes later to add another item, the lady said they couldn't do that. However, when I picked up my order, I was able to add the additional item, and the guy said it wasn't a problem. Maybe the lady couldn't understand English that well! Additionally, when the female manager isn't around, the employees can be quite loud when picking up dirty utensils, slamming the plates into each other. It's noisy enough to be heard across the restaurant.
