Gem of restaurant in Nevada City! From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely fantastic – friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food was excellent, with every dish full of flavor and beautifully presented! The bar area had a hip, energetic, vibe, complete with great music that added to the overall atmosphere. This place truly exceeds expectations and we can’t wait to visit Nevada city again just to eat at this wonderful restaurant. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!

Wonderful restaurant in Nevada City. The food is amazing, the service is incredible and the location is right in downtown. The place is very nice in the inside, it feels like a old school fancy restaurant. The nice thing about it is that you can leave the Yuba River and go in flip flops and whatever dry clothes you got after spending the day at the river, and eat the best meal ever, and feel at home. I love this place and it’s my family’s favorite restaurant in Nevada City. The owners always say hi. It’s a family business and they take very good care of it!

Soon as we got there, it was almost full, but They managed to get us in. It was our first time there, the atmosphere was phenomenal. The staff was absolutely amazing. The food was incredible top-notch it’s a perfect place to go on a first date or to celebrate anything it’s just a perfect place to have dinner or any occasions! I will be going there again.

I haven't had anything here that wasn't phenomenal. This last time, I went on a Sunday evening with my mom. There was a live band playing. We ordered the baked brie for an appetizer, and each ordered filet mignon with lobster. Our meals also come with perfectly mashed potatoes and garlic green beans. The atmosphere was lovely. Our server provided the best service. I look forward to next time.

It’s my husband’s birthday so we decided to visit Nevada City to spend a night there. This restaurant has the good vibe. They were super friendly and very kind to take care of us including a paw boy. The food menu is so good. We had the good cheese pastry to share and each one had the main courses. They serve the food very fast and the quality is very good. Everyone came to check very often and nice. Just purely nice to be there. We definitely will go there again if visit Nevada city.

Fun ambiance, delicious food! We had a wonderful, romantic date night there. I wish they dressed up tho, we love theme places. Very Irish. Amazing Whiskey. I highly recommend the Smugglers, it's a hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps. Also, the French onion soup with a side of Garlic bread.

First off I love the ambiance and decor, they've made their outdoor dining very charming and live music has been wonderful. Our apps were very yummy, calamari, baked brie and mushrooms. The main courses were more so-so. The tomatoes on my caprese were flavorless and the burger was very raw on the inside. The duck was good and cooked well. The server didn't seem to be very available and not very happy to he there.

The staff was friendly but not real attentive. Not many people in the restaurant. The fondue was nothing to write home about. The meatballs were dry. My tablemates loved their filet. Big portions.

Sadly disappointed with our experience here the other night. It was busy. We had a reservation and were seated right away but it took an hour for our orders to come out while those around us ate and left in the same amount of time. My friends enjoyed the chowder but the steak was quite flavorless and not well seared, I could have done a better job at home. The sides were also disappointing, boiled flavorless (and slightly undercooked) brussel sprouts and cooked carrots with no attempt to make them worth the price. What's most disappointing is the service. No apology for the hour long wait for our food, or comping of our side fries to make up for it. And when trying to sort out change to pay for the meal, the bus boy got audibly annoyed at us for asking for another minute before trying to clear the table. They might be good on another night, but they weren't this night.

Our first time here. Visiting the Nevada City Victorian Christmas. We ordered Tuck Burger and Chicken Marsala. Overall food was bland. Service took longer. The plus side, the front desk ladies were pleasant and welcoming.

Ate here today for Victorian Christmas. They opened early, 1:00 for event. We ordered Chicken marsala, was good. Burger and pulled pork. Also a Peach special drink which was sour and no peach flavor, a lot of booze at least. Chicken was good, burger sucked as did pulled pork. Dessert we had Tiramisu, definitely not Tiramisu but it was best thing we ordered. Atmosphere is outstanding, too bad prices don’t coincide with quality of food. Service was also lacking.

Friar Tuck's is one of our favorite local restaurants when we want to have a "fancy" dinner out. For years the food has been as exceptional as the service and atmosphere. Sadly, this past experience was not the same. The menu has been re-done, I'm guessing with the intent to be even "fancier." The bad: My husband ordered the rib eye and I ordered the steak frites. My husband's plate had a steak, with no sauce or anything and some fried potatoes that looked like they were just thrown on the plate. I could've made that at home for a fraction of the cost. He said the meal was very basic. My steak had a pat of compound butter on top and came with fries. It lacked in flavor and really didn't feel like there was anything special about it. My daughter ordered a Caesar salad, which came highly recommended by our server, it was drowning in dressing and also felt very sub-par. The good: the appetizer chicken wing special was fantastic. The wings were super crispy and the sauce was very yummy. We also got the Brie appetizer and I loved the sweet plum (?) sauce served with it. The EXCELLENT: the service was amazing! We had at least 3 people making sure our waters were filled, our drinks were refreshed, and that we were comfortable. Our server was especially attentive. Please, please, please, work on getting the food back to where it use to be!! We'll definitely try again with the hopes that the new menu is fine-tuned and improved.

I used to love this place. Unfortunately the last times I went I didn't like it. Im so disappointed. As for the attention, we felt that the girl was rushing us to ask for more and more to send us. As for the food, we found the quantities to be disrespectful. They didn't even bother to assemble the dishes neatly. The roasted beet and goat cheese didn't have even a bit of goat cheese. The cheese platter literally was a joke, it has 3 little pieces of cheese for 22 usd. It makes me very sad to have to go through this since I repeat, it was one of my favorite places! So sad 😭
