Avis sur 456 New Shanghai New York
456 Shanghai serves popular Chinese dishes that appeal to most people, though the flavors are fairly ordinary. Their lunch special is a very cost-effective option for a quick and filling meal. For only $9.25, you get rice, an entrée, and hot and sour soup. Overall, the food quality matches the price.
If you are in NYC and would like some chinafood THIS IS THE PLACE! Very tasty and good food! Splended service. I am so happy that I visited this place
$8 for 8 dumplings, and they are great!! Soup dumplings and pan fried dumplings were awesome. We also got the chicken pan fried noodle and that was very good. This place is a STEAL for NY priced food. After tax and tip, we payed $15 a person. I had no expectations, and I was pleased. The soup dumplings were yummy. I can’t speak to Price because I didn’t pay, but I don’t think it was too expensive. I’d probably come back again. They had a card register, but they were cash only. So maybe that was because we came when they were about to close, but look out
The place is fantastic, food really terrific and tasty, and I have to say, enormous portions. My wife and I happened to be in New York, all the way from Northern Ireland, and while here hopped on a bus, hopped off at China town, and did a bit of shopping, and decided to have something to eat. I asked, very politely, a passer by were would be nice to get something to eat. A restaurant she replied, I said yes, and around the corner is a really good one, meaning New Shanghai. Not disappointed, as we were seated and offered menus, large selection, drinks, and water. I happened to ask if the portions were large, and thankfully I did, as we ordered one meal, of which was sweet and sour chicken, and it was more than enough for the two of us, and we unfortunately couldn't finish it, and not for the want for trying, as it was delicious. Top tip, if you're not sure, ask a local.
I’ve been to 456 New Shanghai many times, and it’s one of my favorite places to eat in Chinatown. The food is always tasty and authentic — it really reminds me of the flavors from China. I especially love the xiao long bao; the hot soup inside is so satisfying. My favorite dish is the crispy pork chops with salt and pepper — crispy, flavorful, and always fresh. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous. It’s a great spot for delicious Chinese food without spending too much.
Went here with a couple of friends and it was delicious. Amazing late night dinner find. Pan fried noodles were delicious although a lot of oil pooled at the bottom. Still give it a try though! Soup dumplings are always a classic here - hot, flavorful and super tasty! Stop here to get some great authentic eats!
The food was absolutely delicious! We had chicken lo mein, soup dumplings, and sweet and sour chicken (with sauce on the side - our preference.) They have plenty of seating, good service, and the food came out in good timing and was very fresh and hot. We also received hot tea when we were seated. 10/10 recommend!
Great Chinatown spot with cozy, authentic vibes and amazing food. The pork soup dumplings were perfectly juicy and the Shanghai lo mein noodles and sautéed chicken with garlic sauce were flavorful and satisfying. Portions were large, and the service was super quick. Definitely worth a visit! Their card machine was apparently broken so it was cash only tonight.
Crispy shredded beef is my dish. I have only been able to find two instances since my first intro over 30 years ago. It was my mission on this trip to NYC to find reliable crispy beef. 456... Mission accomplished. So good. Portions are really too large but still worth it. Also recommend the sesame chicken and sweet sour chicken as well as garlic green beans.
I’ve been there twice. Iam super excited for this restaurant. Everything is so so perfect and delicious. We ordered rice and noodles with chicken, beef and pork. Also we ordered chicken with broccoli and chicken with soya. The dumplings were so so tasty!! You have to try it if you been there.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable meal in Chinatown, 456 Shanghai on Mott Street is the place to go! We visited with our family of five, and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. The steamed soup dumplings—both the shrimp and pork and the pork—were the best we’ve ever had, easily the top dumplings on Mott Street. The fried soup dumplings were also great, but the steamed ones really stole the show. The General Tso’s chicken was phenomenal—crispy, flavorful, and not overly sweet, the best we’ve ever tasted. We also tried the orange chicken and the Shanghai rice cakes, both of which were delicious. If you’re in Chinatown, don’t miss out on the best dumplings in town. The food, service, and atmosphere at 456 Shanghai make it a must-visit!
The food was ok we tried here 1. Vegetarian Dimsum 2. Dai-Lu Noodle In Soup 3. Earl gray shrimp 4. Earl gray chicken If you are a Chinese food lover you should try here.
I got the peanut butter noodles and was honestly disappointed to say the least. Maybe I just wasn't expecting them to be served cold, or for the flavor to be better. They tasted like normal, cold noodles with a ton of peanut butter and soy sauce. The whole place was packed though, so I'm sure they have great food! I'd love to come back and order something else. The staff was great at getting me a table quickly, even thought there wasn't a lot of open space. Very fun vibe!
I came here twice when visiting NYC. Great food, fast service. The only thing that left sour taste in mouth - added obligatory “service charge” second time. We were family 2 adults 3 kids. First time they didnt charge extra and I happily left about 20% tip. Second time - they suddenly added 18% service charge. Not that I wouldnt leave a tip… but I would appreciate for parties of 5 it would be my choice. Never had experience like that with parties of 5.
I come to this restaurant for the 3rd time. I like how they cook and cook dishes quickly. The waiters are friendly and overall the atmosphere is pleasant. The downsides are the dirty floors, the stairs have never been washed. And it's a bit strange that the toilet is next to the kitchen. You stand waiting for your turn, I'm the toilet, and two steps away they make you dumplings
Last night, we had food at a restaurant in Shanghai, and the food was delicious—we enjoyed it, and the atmosphere was nice. But the biggest problem was that they really overcharged us. We didn’t feel good about it. For example, they had added a value-added tax, then an extra 18%, we were just 3. Then an additional tax of about 10%, and then at the very end, when we gave them the card to charge, they added another 2 or 3 dollars saying it was for the device they use to swipe the card, because the device isn’t free. That was the first thing I noticed. Adding up all the charges, they overcharged way too much. This doesn’t create a good feeling for the customer; it makes you feel like they see you as money. Also, their English wasn’t great—but that was okay, since it was a Chinese area, and maybe that was part of the charm!! May be! But when they charged us so much, it just didn’t feel good at all!
