Avis sur Alachi Masala New York
We happened to stumble across this place after looking around in the Museums and not even knowing what to eat, and we're so glad we came across this place! The portions and flavor of food were perfect and the hot chai was such a delightful drink to heat up in a cold day out in the city. The Poori and Naan were flavorful and fresh and the taste of the meat dishes were excellent! If we're in the area again we'll definitely be coming back!!!
I had the vegetarian special and a mango lassi. Everything was absolutely delicious!! The service was impeccable and we never felt rushed. I will definitely return!
I ordered a thali and it came piping hot. The food was amazing, and it was my first time here and they made me feel very comfortable. Would definitely come again!!
Very unanticipated from this modest place, but amazing food quality and amazing waitstaff. Very accommodating to my friends’ spice preferences and every dish we ordered (and shared) was splendid. Would recommend very highly!
I had a great meal here today. Everything from the veggie samosas, the chicken vindaloo, and garlic naan was delectable. I was stuffed but I needed coffee and kheer, which I haven’t had in a while. Friendly service too.
Just the right size and cozy neighborhood place with delicious fresh food. Lovely hospitable people. And nice soft Indian music. Not loud, so we could talk! Everyone should support these kinds of independently family run spots, they are really precious.
Very tasty food at this small Indian restaurant in the UWS. We’ve eaten here a bunch of times and always had good food. Both vegetarian and meat dishes are excellent. It’s very convenient to have what’s vegan noted on the menu instead of having to ask. Service was excellent and the restaurant had a decent crowd, but not loud.
Deepto and staff are the best! Great food and service all around. They are extremely accommodating in all ways, such as with allergies or sensitivities and service. Also, it’s BYOB, and they will provide glasses and bottle openers. Cannot recommend Alachi enough!
It just seemed like everything I had was the best I’d ever had. Best tomato soup ( which in an Indian restaurant is really saying something), best introductory dips, even best rice pudding. The main dish was one id never had before, so it was of course the best I’d ever had. Hyderabadi Baigan, a beautifully spiced eggplant-based concoction. The place was comfortable, not too fancy, and the service was impeccable. A wonderful discovery.
Absolutely wonderful service and delicious food. Great atmosphere and wonderful staff. All around one of the better restaurateurs experiences I’ve had in a while. A perfect place for a comfort meal, dinner date, or catchup either friends. Could not recommend more highly!
Service is friendly and fantastic. Food is fresh, well spiced, delicious. They overheard I am gluten free and offered to specially make a gluten free cheese naan which was delicious! Also, BYO! Overall great experience. Will definitely be back.
Phenomenal food!! We got the bread basket with garlic naan, keema naan and onion naan - it was very soft and tasty! We came from Toronto and love this more than what we have. They waiters were very kind and on top of their game. The starter was tasty as well. We got chicken malai kabob as appetizer, it was very tasty and soft. We also got the butter chicken, chicken salamar and the lentil soup. You can pick your spice levels which was very helpful! Everything was so tasty and we had so much left over, we would definitely recommend everything we got!!!
This was such a lovely spot! I went for a big birthday dinner, they were super accommodating. And I have a gluten allergy and the waiters were super knowledgeable, making it clear what I could and couldn’t eat. And there was a gluten free naan replacement (not naan exactly but like a thin rice bread). Food was perfectly spiced. 10/10
Finally, delicious 'real' food with lovely spices! Taste wonderful. I order their meat delicacy Kadai Gosht. It's so good. Papadams with spices, great side. Finish off with creamy Alachi special Kheer rice pudding. The flavors of rose water and cardamon are heavenly.
The food was delicious. The eggplant was the best I’ve ever had! The garlic naan also exceptional. We were given a rice pudding on the house that topped off our meal perfectly. Would recommend highly! The tunes rounded out the vibe.
We had a wonderful meal at Alachi Masala today. The food was fresh and flavorful, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. We loved the cozy feel of the restaurant and really appreciated their intentional focus on healthy dishes that cater to a wide range of dietary needs. Highly recommend!
If you’re looking for one of the most underrated gems in the Upper West Side, honestly in all of Manhattan, Alachi Masala is it. This place is everything you want when you’re trying to have a genuinely fun, cozy, delicious night out with friends. One of the biggest perks is that it is BYOB, and not the restrictive kind. You can bring your favorite bottles of wine, yes as many as you want, crack them open with your crew, and settle into what might be the most comforting and welcoming atmosphere anywhere uptown. It is the perfect Friday night spot, warm, intimate, lively, and completely unpretentious. The hospitality alone deserves its own paragraph. The host, the owner, and the staff made us feel like honored guests in their home. I mentioned loving spice and without hesitation they brought over fresh green peppers, onions, and everything I needed to dial things up just right. Their kindness and attentiveness transformed the whole experience into something genuinely memorable. And the food is absolutely incredible. The naan was truly phenomenal, soft, fresh, and addictive. The paneer and masala dishes were rich and deeply flavorful. The vindaloo had that perfect punch. And the biryani was fragrant, layered, and top notch. Alachi Masala is not just a restaurant. It is the kind of place where you lose track of time because you are laughing with friends, sipping wine you brought yourself, and savoring dish after dish that hits perfectly. If you are on the Upper West Side, or anywhere in NYC, gather your friends, bring a few bottles, and go. Friday night at Alachi Masala might become your new favorite ritual.
All of the food was delicious. We ordered the appetizer sample plate and I liked almost everything except the fried cauliflower (but that’s just my taste) and I really liked the sauce it was served with. Almost all of the appetizers were fried which I didn’t have a problem with but if you have dietary restrictions take note of that. The tikka masala was also delicious and the rice it was served with had a nice aroma to it. 10/10 would go back.
A small intimate Indian restaurant with a few indoor and 1 outdoor table. Food was good though the restaurant needs to add more server since service was very slow with only 1 server for full restaurant during peak brunch time. We waited almost half an hour for tea in the beginning and there were times where we grabbed our own menu so we can save some time. Overall, we know the server try his best though it did dent the experience.
Alachi Masala is an Indian restaurant on the Upper West Side. The atmosphere is intimate and family-friendly, though the decor and space are a bit lacking. The food is tasty, well-seasoned, and spicy. The service is good, but not exceptional. The prices are reasonable.
