I shared an experience here with my friend that is hard to find in NYC. Our server was very accommodating and made us feel welcomed. The food was delicious and price was affordable. They have a lunch deal for only $30 that includes appetizer and main course. The portions do not disappoint. Thank you
Altesi is an exceptional Italian restaurant in New York City. The food is outstanding, offering authentic Italian flavors with an exquisite touch. Each dish, from the appetizers to the desserts, is a culinary delight. The service is impeccable and professional, making the dining experience truly enjoyable. If you're looking for a top-notch Italian restaurant with great food and exceptional service, Altesi is the place to go. Highly recommended!
For more footage, please check out my IG @lawyer.traveler.dreamer! We had dinner on our last day of the trip to New York City taken there by a local. We loved all the dishes that we tried. I went to Altesi for lunch and it was delicious! I ordered the beef carpaccio for an appetizer which came out almost instantly. For my entre, I ordered the veal which was amazing. It was served with these mashed potatoes that were cooked with onion, string beans, and other ingredients that made them delicious. The melted mozzarella flavor complemented the veal perfectly. The service was excellent. The waiters came and checked on us throughout our dining experience and made us feel welcome.
Our reviews had over 36 million views last year. We do not get paid we just love to eat and have fun. We really loved Altesi Upper East Side (on 64th 2 doors off of Madison towards 5th Ave). Down just 6 steps to a lovely room that has been here serving some of the best Italian meals for over 25 years. The wait staff averages 15 years of service the reason is the great food makes all the diners so happy. We started with the Butternut Squash soup which had a slight sweet flavor from the squash. It was fantastic. We also had the calamari (flash fried to perfection with a great sauce) and the sauteed artichoke hearts "Jewish Style". They were really good and buttery. I had spaghetti and meatballs which was awesome. Some of the best meatballs I have ever had (sorry Mom!!!). Maria had the chicken which only had one bone. We were amazed at how juicy it was and this is a must have if you do not want pasta. All the desserts were great. There is no dessert menu, they just tell because it changes nightly. We got 3 and I suggest you do the same. We will come back here again soon. It is really great. Check out all of our reviews. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 36 million views so far this year and we thank you for that. We randomly found this resturant around Central Park and let me just say, 10/10. The service, food, wine, and atmosphere was AMAZING. Please do yourself a favor and order the fettuccine with scallops and a bottle of the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Oh and don’t forget the raspberry ice cream dessert.
Great place right next to Central Park. Great atmosphere and extremely friendly staff. I had the Gnocchi and my fiancé had the smokey buffalo pasta (I forgot the name but it was very tasty). Got the raspberry cheesecake for desert. Surprisingly on a Saturday evening we were able to be seated immediately. Very good place to eat if you're near 5th Ave!
Food was great. Staffs were also very efficient and attentive. They have nice outdoor sittings as well.
Excellent! The ambiance, food and service were outstanding. My friend had the Spaghetti Carbonara , I had the sausage omelette. The Atom 16 Cabernet was smooth as silk. Great place. Would definitely come back!
Absolutely delicious. A bit pricey but that’s to be expected at that location
My second time here. First was lunch, this time dinner. Doesn’t get crowded. They don’t really advertise on Yelp. I only knew of this place because someone brought me to them. Fantastic food and moderately priced for the city. Unique location for a spot on the UES. Normal potion size and for a table of 7 we all started with a cocktail and polished off two bottles of wine and the bill was under $100 per person including tip. Below thay have a lobster and white truffle appetizer. Yum.
A sophisticated neighborhood gem that brings the elegance of Tuscany to the city, the atmosphere is perfectly polished and the authentic Italian flavors never miss.
Excellent service and delicious food. We both wanted something they wasn’t on the menu and they accommodated our requests and did it perfectly. I would go again when I’m in the city again.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, which was on par with what we’re used to in Europe. The service was excellent throughout—attentive, friendly, and professional. We unintentionally forgot to leave a tip, but even after that, the service remained just as outstanding. That just goes to show the genuine hospitality and dedication of the staff. Highly recommended!
Everything was amazing, they are super accommodating especially with newborn, toddlers etc. parties. We went here with our newborn and the atmosphere was perfect. Saw a lot of kids at the restaurant too! They were very accommodating in terms of having a stroller inside the restaurant. Only one thing to note if you plan on going to the restaurant with baby and if you plan on sitting longer (which is not a complete deal breaker) they don’t have baby diaper changing station in the bathroom which made it difficult for us to change our baby’s diaper.
Really good food. Excellent service. The wait staff were so attentive. Gluten free menu. Great pizza!
What a gem of a place to find. Walked in as I was waiting for my wife to finish a spa appointment nearby. Was craving some Italian, and was ready to eat. Walked in to find a quaint spot that was larger on the snide than it appeared. Ordered a simple spaghetti with tomato sauce and a diavoletto pizza. The music was setting the mood with a little bit of light jazz mixed with edm at low bpm. Food came and was probably the most simple pasta al dente I’ve tasted since I visited Italy. Pizza came with a bottle spicy hot oil which he warned was quite spicy. I sprinkled it on and man he was right but not for the ones with. Light taste buds. Amazing vibe and amazing food. I’m halfway between my second dark and stormy so I’m writing this right after I finished both. Happy eating will be back!
The service staff were amazing and attentive. The pear salad, spaghetti and steak were all delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly and sauce was very nice too. Cocktails were very well done. Only improvement would be the free starter bread basket, would love it with oil or butter instead of a dip.
I went to Altesi Downtown on a Friday night. Surprisingly it was not packed, a few people were there. There was plenty of seating remaining so you won't have an issue getting a table, it's very spacious. They served complimentary bread which was warm, I love that detail. It was served with a bean dip with olive oil. I started with the baked oysters with melted pepper jack cheese and spinach, it tasted great. Then I had Spaghetti Neri, the pasta was delicious and I loved the spicy sauce. For dessert I had the passion fruit panna cotta, which was heavenly and refreshing.
They had a restaurant week menu that comes with an appetizer and entree. We chose the fried mozzarella & pesto pizza. They were both great! It is easy for pesto to be overpowering on a pizza but it wasn’t at all with this one; very subtle and cohesively integrated. I’m particularly a big fan of thin crust pizza so this really hit the spot. Waiters were professional.
Tasty!!! This is becoming one of our favorite spots. Awesome pizza served oblong, not too crispy, but not too soft. I had the Diavoletto which was great but not too spicy, the waiter said add the "Pepper Oil" that comes with all pizzas. I did and WOW was it hot but full of flavor. We highly recommend the Pepper Oil but try just a little first so you can moderate to your correct heat threshold. She had the Margherita pizza and loved it. She said it was perfect "fold over" pizza. She had the Prosciutto and Burrata special app which was huge and really tasty. I had the Spaghetti with Cherry Tomatoes which was some of the best I have ever had and I have had a lot!!! Really a must have. We passed on dessert because we were too full, but 2 other tables told us the tiramisu was really good and really different than others they have had. Great room and great service. Lots of fun to sit near the door and watch the world walk bye through the gigantic french walls of glass that they leave open in the summer. We will go back again soon. Loved this place. I have visited this restaurant several times and it has consistently been a great place with a pleasant atmosphere. They offer a wonderful selection of quality wines to suit every taste and budget. I really enjoyed fried mozzarella and mussels. For pasta, Orecchiette and Carbonara are my favourites. The Tartufo is also delicious.
I recently went to the Italian restaurant Altesi in Soho and it was a real treat. The place has a really cool interior with warm colors and a soft light that creates a great atmosphere. The service was top-notch too. We had an antipasto and then an amazing pizza on a thin crust. My favorite dish was the polpo and altesi antipasto with lobster! My husband had lasagna and loved it. The desserts were delicious too, with a nice tiramisu at the end.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Altesi Downtown after winning a giveaway, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The ambiance of the restaurant was charming, and the staff was incredibly welcoming. As for the food, every dish we tried was a culinary masterpiece. The pulpo and calamari appetizers were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. For our entrees, we indulged in the lasagna and linguini, both of which were incredibly satisfying and expertly prepared. However, the highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the creamy tiramisu dessert - it was so delicious that I'm already craving it again. Overall, Altesi Downtown exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in the city.
We absolutely love every time we visit Altesi. We were here just last month for Saturday lunch and we decided to go for dinner last night. Love the outdoor seating, service was phenomenal, food was fantastic and the owner is extremely down to earth and literally works just as hard as the staff does! The octopus entrée was so good that we ordered the same dish the second time. The fusilli with clams and freshly made pesto was delicious too. Friday night was packed and the entire restaurant had a really good vibe. Lots of groups and a really good Italian place for dates too. Will definitely be coming back here soon!:)
Came here before and came back this time with my husband. The food was amazing as last time, but the service was a little bit odd. They introduced the special menu to all the tables, except us. When I asked the server to tell us the special menu, he didn’t tell us the full list.
Absolutely amazing service and hospitality, especially at the later hour of the night that we went. Could not have asked for better from the staff. Not everything I ate was for me (not at all a commentary on quality of the food, but rather personal preference), but our waiter was very accommodating and provided great suggestions to make our experience better. Great wine and dessert selection as well!
Very nice spot for a bite near Central Park. Not bursting with flavor, but very tasty and perfect for many pallettes. Very tasty glass of crisp white wine. Worth a visit if in the area.
We went there for restaurant week last year and enjoyed our meal there so we returned again this summer for the same. Upon arrival I was warm from walking to the restaurant so I headed towards the inside. The server was very accommodating and proceeded to closing a couple of windows and upped the a/c for me. The chianti was nice and not expensive at all. Every dish was delicious except maybe the fish, which wasn't bad but tasted a bit fisher than I like it to. The service was good and we enjoyed our meal there again. We'll be returning there again in the future. PS I forgot to take a picture of the tiramisu when it was first served to us so that's not the original size of it.
I had a company holiday dinner here and my team was very excited to come here after hearing great things about it. Location: the location is great and right on Spring street off the E train. If you get out on the Spring street exit the restaurant is across the street. Atmosphere: we had our holiday dinner on Tuesday and aside from 2-3 other customers we were the only ones there. Our table seated about 12 people. Food and drinks: We ordered a few drinks and they had virgin drinks/alcoholic drinks but plenty to choose from. They were pretty good. For appetizers we ordered Polpo which was the grilled octopus with potatoes, capers, olives and red onions. This was delicious and the olives and capers added so much flavor to the dish. We also ordered Carciofi alla Giudia which is artichoke hearts with parsley sauce and this is a MUST have. All of my coworkers really liked this. For mains I ordered the Branzino and the serving was pretty small. I’m not a big eater but even for me this on the smaller size. It was also on the sweeter size and I thought it lacked a little flavor. My husband also came and he ordered the dry aged angus steak. He asked medium rare and they brought it out well done so he wasn’t too thrilled with it. We order dessert and I got three chocolate mousse which was incredible. My coworkers thought their food was just ok. Since it was a holiday dinner we did have fun and enjoyed our time there but if I came here on a date and the food wasn’t as expected I wouldn’t be too happy.
Most restaurants are packed on Saturday nights in Manhattan. Without a reservation anywhere, we had to visit a number of a restaurants to see if we could get a table for dinner. We then came across Altesi, which looked fairly empty. With no other immediate option, we decided to pop in. The food there was surprisingly tasty and filling! Highly recommend. (By the way, half way through our meal, the restaurant was packed)
Service was fine he did mention the specials, he got the order right. Paid 30$ for calamari. I understand it’s NYC. I don’t care put it 50$ but please don’t give us 10 piece calamari like we kids. You can do better!
The food was average for the cost. The service was attentive and they are super nice but it’s not fine dining. The decor is average. The bread was like a crouton and tasted dry and is accompanied by a peculiar bean spread. The spaghetti was ok and the truffle ravioli was good, Caesar salad average.
We came here for my friends birthday. The food was not horrible, it wasn't the best, the fact that we all were charged $140 with tips and tax, for one person was nuts. We could of went to Peter Lugers and spent less. Or even an omakase spot... At first the owner told my friend there is an $80 option with no drinks and $120 option with drinks. But everyone has to pick the same option since it would be impossible to keep track. I guess it makes sense. But some people really don't drink for religious issues or because they just dont like it. All of them did include an appetizer, main, and dessert. They made over $2660 off one table that night. We were not the only large party there. The restaurant was packed, the whole area is packed with people drinking eating etc. They even blocked off the block where Altesi is located. It was crowded. When we first walked in, they didn't have enough tables and seats. We had to wait for our server to find us extra tables and chairs. I wouldn't mind but they were notified ahead of time. Paying that much money for the service, we kind of expected them to prepare better for us. I got a shirley temple because I personally don't drink, it was good, but theres too much ice. Im a slow drinker so my drink would water down half way. My friends margaritas were watered down and they didnt think it was anything. They finished the drinks in a couple sips. We were also given bread baskets, but we had no butter. It was cold and dry. We asked for butter and I think our server gave us hummus? It was fine, but the bread was just really stale and cold. Maybe its a person preference, i like warm soft breads. The menu had the cheapest items, it was customized prefixe menu. The options weren't that appealing either. The mozerella was bland, the tomatoes were also bland, they sprinkled like three-four shreds of basil for garnish. Gamberi was okay, I mean the shrimp was not the freshest, it isss an Italian spot and not a seafood spot so that is expected. Underneath was some eggplants, it was fine. I personally would not order it again if i went back. My friend order the gnocchi, he is half Italian and didnt even finish it. He said it did not taste good. The ravioli with truffle and mushroom was delicious, anything with truffle is yummy, but it honestly seemed like it was only cooked with truffle infused oil and stuffed with finely chopped mushrooms. It was good but you will be hungry for the rest of the night. I ordered the Branzino as my main, it was fine. I mean again, not a seafood spot so I should stick with pasta next time. The branzino was not flavorful, i wish there was more sauce so I could hide that bland white fish taste. Or maybe even a lemon on the side would have helped. I didnt get to try the espresso creme brûlée but I think my boyfriend really liked it. He didn't complain about that, I thought my tiramisu was super light and fluffy too, it melted in your mouth instantly. The only thing I'd go back there for would be the tiramisu! I have never experienced such an expensive dinner with such quality people. You usually get what you pay for, but dont expect that at Altesi. Maybe the cost is better if you go on your own and not with a party with a pre fixe menu. Everyone there thought they could of had a better time with better food elsewhere. Couldn't agree more with them.
The food here was very disappointing. We read the reviews and researched this place. On paper it looked like a place in line with what we really enjoy. The restaurant is beautiful. The staff was amazing. The food, quite honestly, was just not that good at all. We ordered two appetizers: tuna tartare and meatballs. The presentation of both dishes was beautiful, but the taste did not match the look. The tuna tartare was flat, and tasteless, overwhelmed by the over-sized portion of avocado. The meatballs tasted like an old dish rag. The marinara sauce was almost flavorless. Even the breadbasket with small scraps of bread and a tasteless spread was underwhelming. We decided not to stay for the main course. I can't remember the last time we've done that. Bottom line - the place is very nice. The service was great, but you go to a restaurant for good food. This place just doesn't have it. Go somewhere else.
Unfortunately I ignored an obvious clue. The place was empty on a Saturday at lunchtime. Empty. Worst food ever. I’ve never been to prison but I would assume their food would receive a 5 Star Michelin rating compared to this. Avoid this place. Chicken Parmesan was cold with some type of sauce on it topped with processed cheese.
