Avis sur Argo Tea New York
This is the best Georgian restaurant I have been to in New York City. The Ostri (lamb stew) and the Chakhokhbili (chicken stew) were incredibly flavorful and rich. The starting bread came out warm and extremely fresh and the service was great. We ended with the Napoleon dessert, which was so flaky and perfect amount of cream. Walking in felt like a quick trip to Europe and I plan on going back as much as I can. Thanks Argo!
Good tasty food. Nice place for friendly dinner. The waiters are fast and professional
We love Georgian food and have eaten in many Georgian restaurants in NYC. New Yorkers all have strong opinions about food, and Georgian is no exception. I'd say Argo has the best food. While this is not the most atmospheric restaurant, the food quality and the flavors are outstanding. This is not a hip restaurant, tuned to the Manhattan or Williamsburg palate and price levels. You find a lot of locals here. Everything we eat here is great! While khinkali and khachapuri is what we come for here, I have recently tried muzhuzhi -- a dish that most people will avoid. We were pleasantly surprised how much better it was than in other restaurants where I tried it. Really enjoyed it -- everything got eaten! Also, lamb shashlik was awesome. Even the salad is great. The place seems to be manned by one main server, at least outside of Saturday nights. I don't know how he manages all this but he does. He is attentive and friendly. We did not have to wait for anything or work hard to flag him down.
We love Georgian food so decided to try this spot while in the neighborhood yesterday and it was excellent, easily among the best Georgian restaurants I’ve tried in NYC. Nice and laid back, it’s byob but there’s a deli on the corner selling a good selection of cheap Eastern European beers. Their khatchapuri is amazing and I really liked the fact they whipped it up for you table side. So delicious. As a starter the dolma were also outstanding - nice sized grape leaves stuffed with meat. We also had the Georgian fried chicken with garlic sauce. This was a new dish for me but wow! The chicken was so tender and went so well with the garlic cream sauce! And their napoleon cake which they make in house was the perfect fonish. Just an awesome Georgian food experience that I’ll be returning for more of.
Really good Georgian food! This is my second time here and the service is always really good. Our server, Kaxa went above and beyond and gave us good recommendations. Everything I've tried here has been really good - the khachapuri, khinkali, chakhokhbili. They also have a really good Tarragon lemonade and compote. I recommend coming before the dinner rush, as it tends to get busy later in the evening.
It was brunch time 2 days after Christmas, 2022 so the restaurant was not busy. The food was great. We had delicious soup harcho, an amazing simple closed hachapuri (pizza like with cheese but inclosed in dough), very soft lamb shanks and desert -multilayered dough "Napileon" plus traditional Georgian soft drink Tarhun (mineral water with tarragon). If you want you can bring any alcohol with you, no cork fee. Overall we really like it.
We had a department holiday party with food from Argo. OMG! The food was delicious and was cooked to perfection. We had the Khachapury -was amazing, Kebab, liver cubes and Lulya Kebab. We also ordered an eggplant dish and fresh salads. We were all very satisfied and would highly recommend their food. You don’t need to go far to Georgia to enjoy Georgian food, go to Argo!
Outstanding Georgian restaurant 👌 Super delicious food, big variety of georgian cuisine dishes and absolutely affordable prices. Portions are big enough to share. Great choice for the banquets to celebrate your important events. The only thing they do not have a liquor license on a premises, so they do not sell an alcohol beverages. However, you can bring yours 👍 Recommend this place for an amazing dinner experience.
GEORGIA 🇬🇪 Eat the World NYC review: A little past the midway point of Coney Island Avenue headed south, just before Midwood turns into Sheepshead Bay, quite a few options emerge for eating the cuisines of countries that made up the former Soviet Union. Even in Soviet times, the food of Georgia was one of the most beloved in the entire republic and much different than any other in the region. This year old restaurant is doing the full range of Georgian classics very well, our group of nine found hardly anything wanting after a big feast. Families and parties seem to be the main patrons on weekends, as massive trays of khinkali dumplings and cheesy baked breads showed up to greet them.
Visited recently with family. The atmosphere seemed nice, but the service was very disappointing. We had to wait a long time before anyone paid attention to us at the entrance, the order was taken in parts, and the dishes came out with very long delays (hot food arrived more than an hour later). The waiter was trying, but he was alone for the entire dining room and clearly couldn’t handle it. The food itself was okay, but the overall experience was spoiled by the long wait. The restaurant should really improve staff organization. Prices are above average, but the level of service felt below average.
I waited almost two hours for my shashlik. The only waiter was torn between our table of 5 and another table of 10. The waiter took our order in batches; we ordered one at a time because after each one, the waiter ran to the kitchen, and we had to wait 5-7 minutes for him to come back so we could confirm our order. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but the service was terrible. And when we directly told the waiter after an hour that we wanted to cancel the order, he kept saying, "They're bringing it now," and ran away, even though we just wanted to pay and leave. And when it was time to tip, we felt like we'd received very poor service and would leave a minimum tip, although I personally wouldn't have left anything at all. After that, the office didn't respond and said, "You didn't even leave 20%." To avoid conflict, we left this tip, but the restaurant left a bad taste in our mouth. I don't recommend it.
Nothing as promised, food is either overcooked or burned or super spiced to cover the freshness of the meet. And I can go on. But see yourself. Even the butter in plastic cups are melted down.........no salt, no respect, no care. After my wife called to explain what happened they didnt even apologized.......so stay away please.
