I love the food here. The cake is special. The rice is yummy. And the price here is more than fair.
We ordered beef, and seafood congee which came in large bowls. Try the duck dumplings. There is a good amount of duck filing and tasty sauce wrapped in a semitransparent dough. The beef and shrimp rice noodle is silky smooth. It goes great with the congee. Price is reasonable. Locals came in and out while we ate here. Good indication it’s authentic and good value. Space is surprisingly HUGE and clean because staff is consistently cleaning tables, floors and facilities. Enjoyed traditional Chinese congee breakfast on this windy cold January day and would recommend a visit.
Outstanding. Consistently great, authentic Chinatown-style Hong Kong BBQ right by Times Square. Very solid value portions of perfectly prepared, delivered with speed. Ordering done via electronic booth or in person, served on a tray to eat in back room or takeaway. Back room a little Spartan, but clean and bright, with sauces and chopsticks on wall. Fantastic option for the area.
This is a no frills pretty good Cantonese style cafeteria restaurant. The food is pretty legit for its location. Go to Flushing if you want better. If you're staying in Times Square it is a better than good option if youre hankering for some specific dim sum, honestly, basic over rice or noodle soup offerings.
Great Dim Sum restaurant to eat at. It was nearby my hotel for the morning brunch time. Excellent food & drink choices. Very friendly staff. Clean & comfortable seating. Plenty of seats & tables. Waited about 5-8 minutes to have food ready. Plenty of options to choose from the menu. I ordered ; ~ Seafood Congee ~ Pork & Thousand Year Egg Congee ~ House special Boneless Chicken Big bowl of Congee! Very delicious! Would visit again!
tried the crispy pork belly and crispy roasted duck combo, and wow — the food practically melts in your mouth. The flavors are elegant and clean, with very little spice, which I really appreciated. Unlike many Asian dishes that lean heavily on heat, this place focuses on balance and refinement. The rice combo comes with a side of greens that rounds out the meal perfectly for $16.28. Overall, a truly satisfying experience. If you enjoy well-crafted, crispy pork or duck dishes with delicate flavor, this place is absolutely worth a visit!!
Man, this is one of the best wonton noodle dishes I have had just about anywhere. I live in CA but we make it a point to go here when we are in NYC.

I got the seafood rice noodle roll and the wonton soup. The wontons had big shrimp in it and was tasty.

Outstanding option for Times Square area. Authentic Chinatown-style HK BBQ duck and pork. Super-fast, clean, wholesome, and delicious.

The food was great. The customer service was great. The restrooms were clean. The milk tea was on the bitter side, and it needed a little more sugar.

Great dim sum and very good value. We have been to Hong Kong and the dim sum here was as good as HK. The seating is a bit messy but its a cheap eat and is nice quality so it can be forgiven.

I had such a fantastic experience at Dim Sum Sam! Our food arrived in no time, piping hot and freshly prepared, which made the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The portions were absolutely huge — much more generous than we expected! Every dish was packed with flavor and made to perfection. Whether it was the dumplings, buns, or rice rolls, everything tasted authentic and satisfying. You definitely won’t leave hungry here. What impressed me even more was how reasonable the prices were considering the portion sizes and quality. It’s amazing value for money, especially given how fast and well-organized the service is. If you’re looking for delicious dim sum, lightning-fast service, generous portions, and great prices, Dim Sum Sam is the place to go. I’ll definitely be coming back for more! 🥟✨this is a self service restaurant.
The duck soup tasted like greasy water. There were excessive bones in the duck that was served. The noodles tasted like uncooked Ramen noodles. The truffle shrimp and crab had no crab meat in them.…

Authentic Cantonese fast-food styled restaurant in a surprisingly clean and efficient setting opposite the entrance to Port Authority.

It's great that Dim Sum Sam brought Chinatown to Midtown. prices are calibrated based on the location, but the venue itself is clean and spacious. This restaurant offers a little bit of everything,…
Atmosphere is casual. It’s sit down but you order at the counter in front and pick it up when your number is called. The food is very average but the Shanghai juice dumplings are good. Not any better than other dim sum places though. The soy milk is pretty good. That’s about it. And we got a lot of food.
They will offer you a free drink for a review. They’ll have you show them your review to get the drink. I did not bother. The staff behind counter was not a friendly one, but maybe that is the part that is authentic lol. HK restaurants are known for unfriendly staff. 😂 The food was decent . We got the congee and pork chasu noodles. It was quite decent.
Quick bite before leaving NYC and just came across Dim Sum Sam! No wait for a table, and only a short wait for food to come out after ordering. The team member at the front was really friendly! They had the heat on because it was cold outside, but it got really hot having to sit under it while eating. My food actually kind of came out cold/not warm, but tasted good + the iced tea was also good. The beef stew was also cold and wasn’t that good unfortunately. My boyfriend’s ramen and dumplings were hot and he liked them! Overall worth it for a quick/okay priced meal!

Skip this. I rarely leave a bad review anywhere even if it’s bad but I needed to leave one this time. Edible if VERY hungry, but VERY underwhelming. Meat was gross. Fatty gristle. Sauces were watery. Rice was just yuck. How is rice yuck? And the combo meal comes with one type of drink (Lemon Iced tea) And they won’t let you switch it for anything else not even water! I gave mine away to some random person. Oh and the tables were disgusting and there was nowhere to even set my purse down except for the bench which was slightly cleaner from people sitting on it and wiping it with their rear ends. You also have to eat in a room with zero windows. The room is big and they have like a fake window of a park with some trees but it doesn’t Make-up for the lack of service and the lack of taste in the food. do not be deceived by the photo. Ick. we ate the Combo with barbecue pork over rice and “spicy” mushroom dumplings (not spicy at all Or any other flavor really) and some pork soup dumplings and some barbecue pork steamed buns. All very underwhelming with very little flavor. The only thing that tasted good was the greens in the bowl and the egg. Whatever that white vegetable in the bowl was tasted ok. The Portuguese custard tart was also practically flavorless. Might as well eat air.
I was surprised by how high the rating is for this place. Unfortunately, the food didn’t meet my expectations. Everything tasted quite bland, and the pork was very dry. The flavors were hard to distinguish, and I honestly wished I had ordered the egg tart instead. The service could also use improvement. The staff didn’t seem very attentive, avoided eye contact, and at one point was eating while helping customers, which didn’t feel very professional.

Really rude and unkind woman working at the counter. I accidentally picked up the wrong order tray and she rolled her eyes and gave me a complete attitude. I now understand why they have high reviews bc they are incentivizing customers to leave 5 star reviews in order to get free drink. I find the model highly problematic bc the reviews are not reflective of actual service and food. My noodle soup was also lukewarm when it came out.
Do not get fooled by the fake 5 star reviews. The 4.8-star rating at the time of our visit is incredibly misleading. When you scan a QR code at the counter and leave a review, they give you a free drink—so take those glowing reviews with a grain of salt. We came here based on those ratings, but it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. We ordered the Combo over rice with roasted duck and soy chicken, beef stew noodles, chicken dumplings, and shrimp dumplings. The portions were disappointing—mostly rice with very little meat and even the small portion of meat is full of bones, laterally more than half of the meat portion was bone. The chicken dumplings were honestly horrible, and while the shrimp dumplings were okay, they couldn’t redeem the meal. Roasted duck was inedible, smelled and looked like it’s been sitting there for three days. The beef stew noodles were completely inedible as well. They had a raw, unpleasant smell, and we tried to convince ourselves it was fine, but we just couldn’t eat them. We approached the front counter respectfully—not asking for a refund, just to exchange the beef dish for dumplings to justify the $60 we had just spent after a long walk around New York. The staff was rude, dismissive, and made no effort to help. No manager was there to talk to and explain, they didn’t not even look at the food. We left most of the food and ended up going to another restaurant. This isn’t about being picky, i eat out in different places from food trucks to fine dining places and i know I am not picky at all—it’s about basic food quality and customer care. Save your money and your time. Avoid this place
