Let's get a Bento at Benton! This is a cute little place to get your lunch. Concentrating on home made style Japanese dishes, this take out joint puts it all together in a neat colorful package. If you think that's all they have then you are mistaken. They also have bread, ramen, curry, rice bowls, onigiri, soba, just to name a few. And on top of that, they have a menu that changes everyday. Pricing is average for a take out place like this.
This place is amazing. They publish different menu everyday and when you go there you can choose between 3-4 options on daily basis. The food is perfection. Just be careful on time though. They are usually out of food by 2, so try going around noon.
The absolute best way to get a homemade, balanced lunch in the city - every bento box is carefully packed with high quality, delicious food with excellent attention to detail. Love the fact that the daily bento changes each week because I can try a lot of things and never get tired of it. I have been going here for years and have never been disappointed.
BentOn has become one of our go-to lunch spots. The variety in the menu each week is great. We usually try one new bento and stick to one of our favorites (We love the karaage and teriyaki salmon!). The free delivery is an amazing plus
Amazing and very authentic Japanese bento place, which took me immediately back to Kyoto the first time I tried it. Bento boxes and other Japanese snacks are ready to pick up at the store, there is no need to pre-order or wait for them to prepare the food, which is much appreciated in midtown. You must definitely try their onigiri, together with your bento box.
This place is a 10 out of 10. Great food at surprisingly affordable prices (being in Manhattan & all) can't go wrong here. Also their menu changes from week to week.
Just had a karaage chicken bento for lunch. Quick, simple, and reasonably priced for Manhattan. Happy to have another good quality Japanese food joint around.
Friendly staff, good matcha.

The food here reminds me of home in Japan, where we can get Bento anywhere in town. It's always a well-balanced meal and healthy. I got lots of veggie in different flavor and cooking in one meal. Love it!!! Highly recommended.
My go-to lunch near the office! Well balanced meals and very filling. They rotate bento offerings every day so there’s something new everytime you go. If you’re not as hungry, they have a good selection of onigiri (rice balls) as well. There’s also a ramen station I haven’t tried yet but smells delicious. Customer service is excellent and welcoming. I highly recommend Benton, there’s something there for everyone!
Delicious homey comfort food, perfect for a quick yet healthy lunch. It tastes like an authentic bento you would get in Japan. I like the variety in each bento while also being well balanced and filling, and pretty good value as well.
Excellent and authentic, feels like being in Japan! I used to eat regularly at their downtown location near Wall St,, which is unfortunately closed, and which used to allow full customization of the bento box (i.e. build-your-own). The Midtown location doesn't have this setup, but they offer multiple pre-prepared options to choose from. They also have a very interesting Ramen option, and the quality of the bento is exceptional. I strongly recommend BentOn!

great lunch spot if you want to grab sth quick to eat in the office!! they change up the menu everyday and theres quite a decent amount of food.
I love bento, especially if it is authentic Japanese bento. This spot call their offering “Japanese Healthy Fast Food” and offer bento box, sushi, donburi, and some pastries and other little snacks. I finally got to visit the store in Midtown on one weekend for lunch. The staff (lovely Japanese female) told me that shortly before we arrived, a large group of people came and bought out most of their bento boxes!!! So, there was not much selections left… And, it seems like their donburi items are offered during weekdays, not on weekends. Double punch there… We looked through their limited options, and picked up a few things that still looked really great. Since there is no seating in this location, we decided to take them home. The first item was their Pork Cutlet Curry, which comes with a small drink of your choice. We also bought a couple of rice balls and a Chocolate Mochi Doughnut. They were all rather simple yet comforting and pretty good flavor. I was super happy I finally got to visit BentOn. I would definitely go back again when I want something quick, comforting, tasty, and Japanese. They are super affordable, and if you get there before they ran out of their offerings, it is pretty enticing and exciting. I wish if this store was close to my office, then I could go there more often… Read my full review of this spot and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.
Food was decent and a little cheaper than other places. However, you need to get there at noon to get the best selection because they sell out quick. Got there at 12:30 and there was limited dishes left. Would try again.
Ordered their crispy chicken over rice and it was delicious! It taste best when hot - keep in mind you can always ask them to microwave it. Their rice texture is nice, like any other sushi rice you eat. This place also has bento boxes and bread / sandwich options! Nice place for lunch pick up if you're near by!
Cute authentic Japanese bento shop! The bentos are pre-made daily and reasonably priced. The only downside is that the hours are now shorter and they're not serving ramen or their dons anymore. Other that that, it's worth a trip to grab a quick lunch! Tip: come early to grab a bento box since it's limited and freshly made!

I wouldn’t recommend the vegetarian bento but I would say it was more traditional than many other Asian bento boxes so I would try others with fish if I’m in the mood for more of a traditional bento. I would not recommend this for people who only like sushi and teriyaki tofu

Hair in my meal kit. I have ordered this bento service several times in the past through their meal kits, and the experience has consistently been poor. Every time, the ice packs arrived completely melted, and the rice was unpleasant and low quality. Despite these repeated issues, I ordered their osechi again this year because I was recovering from illness and needed a convenient option. This was a mistake. The osechi was extremely disappointing. There was no datemaki at all, and the rice was once again tasteless. Most of the essential and traditional osechi items were missing, making it feel incomplete and careless. The price was also unreasonably high. I chose this service only because it was about $50 cheaper than ordering osechi shipped directly from Japan, but the quality was far below acceptable and not worth the cost. Ozoni is a celebratory New Year’s dish, and traditionally it uses round mochi to symbolize harmony, good fortune, and the absence of sharp edges. Instead, this service provided square mochi, showing a lack of understanding or respect for basic Japanese New Year traditions. Even worse, although this was advertised as a two-person serving, there was only one piece of mochi per person, which was clearly insufficient. Kamaboko is traditionally red and white, yet only red kamaboko was included. These details matter, and their absence reflects a broader disregard for authenticity and quality. Overall, this service was disappointing on every level. I will not be ordering again next year, and I do not recommend this osechi to anyone who values proper Japanese cuisine or New Year traditions.
The onigiri is not even packed well. I opened the wrap, and it's not made very well. The salmon onigiri needs more flavor and tastes so plain.
