Avis sur Deli El Chapincito New York
This place is amazing, food tasted just like my mom’s cooking. It is pricey and that’s only thing that upsets me because this homestyle food should not be more than $20 However, everything outside of great is authentic. The ladies working there are sweet but they clearly do this for the love of food and for the Guatemalan will to serve. But they are NOT service industry workers meaning, don’t come in here expecting restaurant hospitality. The hospitality here is for their own people, in that way, this could seem unattractive to tourists, non Spanish speaking people, this spot is definitely a ‘If You Know You Know.’ But if you do know, then you’re in for a really great meal that tastes like home. There’s a reason all the food delivery messengers come here for their lunch. It’s Guatemala in New York. I got: Bistec De Pollo w/ Rice and Beans + Tortillas + Water + Pastry for $24.50
Amazing Guatemalan food, as if it is made in someone's home. From outside it looks like a random deli but inside the food is anything but ordinary. Strongly recommend. You will need to use Spanish and if you're dine inside, you might end up be sitting with our brothers who deliver food. It is a counter serve so it is quick and efficient. The portions are generous and there are usually about 10 options. I got the carne with pepian stew which was exceptional, which had great flavor, tons of meat and good portion, all for just $12. They have tons of bakery items and has a Guatemalan/Mexican convenience store too.
Last week I was in Antigua on a work trip. I had some amazing Guatemalan food. This week I stumble upon this place and I stepped inside. All the snacks that I saw at La Bodegona are also found here. Tortrix. Tiky. Guatemalan Chocolate. My inner Bourdain would like to make a commentary about how the tables filled with Mesoamerican food delivery men and the clerk who had to use Google Translate to communicate with me shows how many different Americas there truly are, but alas Tony is no longer with us. Instead, I'll just appreciate how timely this place came to be in my neighborhood The best part was the small comida in the back, offering delicious pork chops, subanik, fried chicken, and other stews. Each meal comes with beans and rice or chao mein (spelling intentional). I miss Guatemala dearly; this place brings back fond memories of the place Pro tip - the chocolate in the brown and white packaging is the best version, according to experts
Pros 1. Sopa de Costillas (Beef Rib Soup) is Good. 2. Bistec de Pollo (Pepper Chicken Stew) is Good. 3. Veggie White Rice is Good. 4. Housemade Green Hot Sauce is Deliciously Spicy! 5. Friendly Service.
Amazing Guatemalan food. Kind people. Many snacks are imported from Guatemala
Felt just like my friends mothers cooking. Delicious. For the price I paid and the amount of food that was given for the plater is great. I'll be coming here more when im at work.
Handmade tortillas, amazing rice and beans. Meat options also available.

This some good stuff. You really can't go wrong with the rice + beans + chicken combo. Also heads up that as of the end of Sept 2025, they currently don't have the sign with their business name out in the front.
Deli E Chapincito is a newish Guatemalan deli / eatery. the interior is really clean, well organized, and has seating in the back if you want to stay and eat. front of the store is filled with snacks and quick-bites like baked items. the back has a small kitchen area and a dining area. most of the prepared foods are displayed on heating trays. stopped by here and grabbed ordered a pork chop and tortillas for some quick protein and carbs post-workout. the pork shop was well-seasoned and meaty. the tortillas were served hot and had that warmed corn flavor. definitely would stop by here again to grab a meal or get some snacks. staff are friendly. English is limited, so brush up on your Spanish 101

Ordered online and was told they didn’t have my food and didn’t recognize my order despite showing my receipt and order payment. Did not offer any alternative for food either.
