Avis sur Frenchette Bakery New York
Moist financier and crispy on the outside with the almonds adding an extra crunch. I found it a tad sweet but still loved it. Seating is along the corridor and facing the traffic giving it a French feel of watching the crowds walk by.
Egg savory Danish with market greens: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ favorite pastry from Frenchette, wish I could try a fresh one Pistachio croissant: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ love the pistachio on top, but found the whole thing on the sweeter/oily side Viennoise: ⭐️⭐️ very dry, should’ve gone to tgtg
The bread is quite possibly the best in downtown. It’s warm & fresh at 8A… and yes I wake up early just for the breads lol
I really enjoyed my visit to Frenchette Bakery — it’s a beautifully done French-style bakery in Tribeca with some of the best pastries I’ve had in NYC. Their croissants (especially the pistachio and chocolate) are flaky and buttery, and the fresh breads have great flavor and texture that remind me of a Parisian boulangerie. The vibe inside is relaxed but stylish, perfect for a casual breakfast or coffee break with friends. The coffee is rich and pairs well with the sweets, and there are plenty of savory options too if you want a light lunch or sandwich. It can get a bit busy, especially in the mornings, but the quality of the pastries and the chilled café vibe make it well worth dropping by. Overall, a must-try stop for anyone who loves artisan baked goods in NYC.
Frenchette Bakery delivers beautifully made pastries with a perfect balance of buttery richness and lightness. Everything feels thoughtfully crafted, from the flaky croissants to the subtly sweet baked goods. It’s refined without being fussy, and every visit feels like a small luxury worth savoring. 🥐
Frenchette Bakery is a super cool spot located in a very non-obvious building, making it feel like a true find. It has a really unique vibe - while there are no conventional seats, the layout is designed so you can still sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The absolute standout here is the hot chocolate. It is amazing and probably the most interesting one I have had in a long time! We also tried the drip coffee, but the hot chocolate was definitely superior. I seriously recommend it to everyone who visits. A helpful tip: this place is clearly very popular, as there was a steady stream of people coming in for takeaways throughout our visit. Because the seating isn't traditional, it’s a great spot for a quick, high-quality treat or a grab-and-go experience. Overall, if you're looking for a cool aesthetic and top-tier hot chocolate, this is a must-visit.
Easily the best croissant I’ve ever had in my life. I’m a former baker and I’ve made and eaten a lot of croissants, so that may not be advice for the perfect croissant, but it’s pretty close in my opinion. Definitely go there and grab a few things you’re not familiar with and a coffee.
Best French Bread I've ever had! The Hot Cocoa is amazing if you like yours really thick and not as sweet. The melted marshmallow does add much needed sweetness! Only thing that's sucks is that most of their baked goods start to sell out around lunch time. Early morning is the best if you want warm French Bread. Freshly made!
This place is a wonderful coffee shop! ☕ Frenchette Bakery serves a nice selection of caffeinated drinks 🍵, delicious 🤤 pastries 🥐, cookies 🍪, sandwiches 🥪, and more! Definitely get the Hot 🔥 Chocolate 🍫 with Marshmello and try the Croustillant. Staff 👨🍳 is super friendly and the service is quick. ⏲️ Place has a wonderful ambience 🎶 and they have indoor seating.🪑 I wish I came here sooner!
Amazing café in a cozy setting. Best hot chocolate I’ve ever had - I accidentally spilled it midway through, but the manager was so kind to help clean it and even offered a replacement! The pistachio croissant was absolutely divine and a must-order. Will definitely be back to try the other pastries!
I recently visited this bakery and ordered a cappuccino and an Americano. The drinks were absolutely delightful, with a rich and satisfying flavor. The pistachio croissant was good but since I’m not a big fan of twice baked croissants, it wasn’t my favorite and a bit heavy. But it can be an absolute delight, which is filled with a generous amount of pistachio goodness. The ambiance of the bakery is fantastic – it's a great place to work, relax, and enjoy your time. The great atmosphere and friendly staff make it an ideal spot for a coffee break or a leisurely afternoon. I would highly recommend this bakery to anyone looking for a tasty treat and a welcoming atmosphere.
A Delightfully Unique French Cafe I recently had the pleasure of visting a charming and unique French cafe tucked away in the heart of the city. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported as well as being enveloped in the delightful aroma of freshly baked pastries and the warm ambiance of the crop The pastries are simply divine. Each bite was a revelation of flavors and textures, a testament to the expertise and passion of the bakers. The savory pastry with egg and greens was a particular standout, combining delicate, flaky pastry with a rich and creamy filling. The freshness of the greens added a delightful contrast, making it a perfect choice for a light yet satisfying breakfast or brunch. And let's not forget the coffee!. The baristas skillfully craft each cup, resulting in a smooth and robust brew that is a true delight for coffee aficionados. Whether you prefer a classic espresso or an iced oat latte, you can trust that your caffeine fix will be expertly prepared and served with a smile. One aspect that sets them apart from others is their open bakery. It's a unique and captivating feature that allows customers to witness the magic of pastry-making firsthand. Watching the skilled bakers work their craft is a treat in itself and adds an extra layer of appreciation to the already exceptional pastries. Beyond the culinary delights, the staff deserve special mention. From the moment I walked in, their warm and welcoming demeanor made me feel like a cherished guest. They were attentive and always ready to offer suggestions or answer any questions I had. Their genuine enthusiasm for their work and dedication to ensuring a memorable experience made my visit all the more enjoyable. Thankyou
10/10 for cuteness alone. My first time here! I had the jamón burre baguette. It was lovely. The bread had been brushed with olive oil which was a nice addition. The hot cross buns looked amazing. They also serve pizettes which will be my next lunch order! I’ll have to come back for one. I sat in one of the eating nooks. Such a cool New York spot in the entry of an office building.
High quality and tasty bakery with yummy variety of viennoiseries. We arrived at around 12:45 on a Sunday so no more pistachio croissant. I had the plain croissant, egg savory with greens, pear feuilleté (flavored with ginger, tumeric and honey) for breakfast (kinda felt guilty to have so much but it's much higher quality and less sweet than most bakery). The croissant is one of the best I've had in NYC; it has rich butter and flakey pastry tastes without tasting like sugar which happens to many bakeries that just make sweet croissant. My husband had the ham baguette sandwich and he liked the texture of the baguette. We bought the winter harvest loaf to have with our soup for dinner and it's great! The oat milk latte was nice too since they use oatly. Highly recommend.
It was hard to find at first because it's inside the Merchants Square Building - 220 Church St. So, not a bakery that's facing the street. Once I found my way, I was happy with the results: cute and friendly staff, good coffee and quality croissant! Price of croissant $4.50 and a large coffee $4 something. Oh, one more thing: get in there early, as the line queues up pretty fast!
Arcade has gone, but Gural’s legacy has been exquisitely carried forward. The Sicilian pistachio croissant is full of the aroma of butter and toasted nuts. The filling isn’t very dense, which made the croissant not overly rich or greasy. The egg savory danish is another heavenly good creature. I tried the one with mortadella and black truffle - what a joyful winter retreat after running all the way from Brooklyn to TriBeCa! Plus, their customized mint-ish espresso machine is super cute!
[2024 UPDATE] Frenchette's Galette des Rois is LEGIT. Combining pistachio and Bergamot orange frangipane, Frenchette gave this festive golden pie a new life. The caramelized top completed the buttery deliciousness. It would have been perfect if they reheated the slice for me. But never mind the puff pastry was surprisingly still very flaky with crackling crunchy sound. Compared to their Twice Baked Pistachio Croissant, this Pistachio Galette des Rois was less oily and less sweet. I've tried pistachio rasberry galette des rois in Japan this year but it was way too sweet. Glad that I have found a real winner at Frenchette. ——— A french boulangerie tucked inside a grand and classy building. Aggressive pricing. The opening hours are quite short (until 4pm on weekdays, 2pm on weekends), and the pastries sell out quickly. I was lucky to grab the last egg savory in the shelf at 1pm. Tables are spread along the hallway. Perfect spot for some quick bites. * Twice Baked Sicilian Pistachio Croissant Unlike other bakeries, they don't skimp on pistachio frangipane and crumbs in their croissants. Sadly their croissant pastry was overwhelmingly buttery, like indulging in spoons of oil. I felt guilty after eating it lol. The pistachio filling was dense and nutty but lacked the depth of flavors comparing to Librae's rose pistachio croissant (Yes, I'm a sucker for librae). The quality of their pistachio croissants is quite inconsistent tho - i heard mixed reviews from frds and found that we all had diff pastry texture and filling portion. * Market Greens Egg Savory The orange egg yolk was supposed to be runny according to pictures online, but mine was fully cooked. Once again, the danish layers were very flaky, however quite greasy. Undoubtedly overpriced ($9 each). * Cappuccino w/ Oat Milk Very mid but it was an essential to boost my gloomy midday mood. My Recommendation: Twiced Baked Pistachio Croissant Worth Returning ? Yes I'm looking forward to galette des rois season!
I wish pastries here tasted as good as they looked. The croissant could be fluffier, and I couldn’t really taste the butter (which is basically 90% a croissant’s value). It was also slightly overbaked (but still, not as bad as “bien cuit”). I tried the twice-baked pistachio croissant as well, which are usually a good way to recycle old croissants. Not here though, since you’ll find pistachio inside the dough. Again, despite a great color, the taste was also disappointing, with a mild pistachio flavor, and a strong egg (?) aftertaste. Lastly, I have to say the baguette was quite good. The crust had the right texture, and the mie was soft and airy without being too chewy. With a bit more salt, it would have been perfect.
Great baked goods. My favorite was the hazelnut pastry. So good. Pistachio one was a bit sweet. Chocolate croissant was really good. Finally a dark chocolate croissant. Egg savory with mortadella was good too. Croissant was OK. Kouign Amann was very good and not too sweet. Black Forest bread was fine. Canale was very good. Gougeres were good. Ham sandwich was great.
2026 UPDATE: overall it’s a bit overpriced and the taste is just alright. Some are too sweet and some are too hard to chew. 2022: Really nice bakery store. I really like the table which is opened from the wall. The croissant is crunchy and latte is good.
They don’t even have oregano or olive oil to put on their pizza! Kind of lame for a $17 small piece of pizza! Kind of untasty. Not to mention, they don’t even have any salt or pepper, anything! And also it’s called “Frenchette” but there is nothing French about this place. (Nice place through)
