Grata Restaurant and Wine Bar

"This part of Manhattan has been a ""restaurant desert"" for quite a while now, so the arrival of Grata is especially welcome. The environment is warm and cozy. The food is Italian but the flavors are influenced by the star Israeli chef. The hospitality is perfect. I have returned many times since it has opened."

An amazing selection of music, that matches the tone of the room, which gives the calm and soothing feeling. The sublime food that melts in your mouth with exquiste taste and the great fluent service that is served from this wonderful Italian and Mediterrainian restaraunt is one to look forward to with a group or a personal date.

Excellent Spagetti a la Bolognese. Have to try the meatballs as well!

This huge italian restaurant has the charm of a cozy place. It convenes and elegant deco with a great selection of wines and italian delicatessens, plus some chef specials like the squash ravioli. The service is more than outstanding, they really take care of you and make your night special. this place is great for a date and a nice talk. they also have live jazz some nights.

Decided to stop in last night and try Grata. We asked for a cool table, but were given a spot in a corner with little ventilation. The food was exceptional, My wife had salmon, I had mussels in white wine and garlic;a wonderful icy ceasar salad (no croutons as requested). The wine was tasty, the water was difficult to come by and getting a second dish to hold the mussel shells never happened. Our waiter Charles was solicitous and helpful with his suggestions, but he was working many tables and his support was not very good (water, shell bowl, interest in the table). We will be back to give them another chance, mostly because Charles and the food were way beyond the rest of the experience.

Where to start...the food was good, the service very attentive and quick, although this could have been because it wasn't very busy. The prices though were a bit on the high end. I just didn't feel like the meal experience was worth what I was paying for it. Like eating an expensive steak with plastic ware, it felt like something was clearly missing. Highlights for me were their mini meatballs and grilled octopus appetizer.
