When Irish people are eating at the pub, you know it’s going to be good. Got the fish and chips and the chips were actually chips. Very tasty and authentic to true Irish food. Plus on top of the bread pudding was real custard. Chefs kiss. 😘
Great seafood and live music on Friday nights. An exceptional place!
Stopped in here for a pint on a Friday night then back in the next day for lunch. Very good pint pours from both Seamus and Benny, our lovely Irish bartenders on each visit. I told Seamus that I wanted to come back for a shepherd's pie and if he recommended it. Seamus said after 22 years in New York City, it's the best he's had. It lived up to the hype. The best shepherd's pie I can remember having in a long time. Not overly seasoned, just cozy. My wife got the fish and chips and was delighted. We couldn't more highly recommend.
Great bar, Great and nice staff. Only the door opened every 1min with cold air comes inside. Fresh and good food, important choice of beers. Quality and price top
This spot creates total happiness. The staff displayed exceptional friendliness and willingly responded to any question. This place offers fresh, high-quality meals without breaking the bank. The flavor of each item stands out and the place feels homey. Regardless of minor issues, I'll visit again, perhaps often.
In a sea of restaurants in the middle of NYC, choose this one. We came in out of the chilly rain and were seated immediately. Our kids ate their best meal of our trip. The beef stew and fish and chips were great. Guinnesses as good as you can get this side is the Atlantic. But most importantly the service was wonderful. I believe our server was Benny. I forgot my purse there, and he tried to chase us down once he found it. I was able to come back the next morning before they opened to get it. Really really thankful he was so kind, hospitable and accommodating. And the music was great. We’ll be back whenever we’re in town.
I love Irish Bar and Pubs for their welcoming and happy vibe. So when I was disappointed by Gravy’s Irish Pub and went hunting for another one and to my surprise discovered O’Donoghue’s and instantly loved it. The service is spot on with interactive and polite servicer’s. They were happy to help and gave good suggestions. Angel was very helpful is offering me choices to as to what to eat as I’m a new vegetarian. Even Jonathan was great to talk to, he seated me on the best table possible. Everything is was a good experience for sure. Clean and neat washrooms. Would surely revisit. Cheers.
We were exhausted after a busy day of touring & shopping in Times Square, not to mention famished after wasting an hour trying to find a place to eat. After experiencing massive disappointment at 2 major American chains, we were so grateful to have stumbled across O’Donoghue’s, and with some time left to enjoy happy hour! I can not say enough good things about this place. The pub is beautifully designed and meticulously clean. The entire staff was so cheerful, attentive, and helpful – even during a super-busy dinner rush. We enjoyed some fabulous drinks and entrees. I have to mention that the salmon on my Caesar salad was cooked perfectly – which is a rare find – so huge kudos to the chef. We would absolutely love to visit again on our next trip. Thanks so much to everyone for such an enjoyable evening!
O’Donoghue’s Times Square is a lively Irish pub nestled in the heart of New York City’s Theater District. With its warm ambiance and friendly staff, it offers a welcoming spot for both locals and visitors. Food & Drink: The menu features a variety of traditional Irish and American dishes. Patrons often recommend the Shepherd’s Pie and Fish and Chips for their hearty portions and authentic flavors. The bar boasts 24 beers on tap, including a selection of Irish brews, ensuring a refreshing choice for every guest. That said, food and drinks are a little pricey compared to other spots in the area. Service: Service is generally attentive, with many guests praising the staff’s friendliness and efficiency. However, during peak hours, some have noted slight delays, which is common in bustling city centers. Atmosphere: The pub exudes an authentic Irish charm, featuring cozy interiors and a vibrant atmosphere. It’s an ideal spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing or before catching a Broadway show. Overall: O’Donoghue’s Times Square offers a delightful blend of good food, refreshing drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Just be prepared for slightly higher prices. Still worth a visit whether you’re in the city for a short stay or a local looking for a casual dining spot.
The beer was good. I'm a pale ale kinda gal and enjoyed one of their specials. The flatbreads were fantastic! I tried both. Enjoyed the non-vegetarian option better. Only minus- our server disappeared forever and was not the best. I'd come here definitely with different server. Prices reasonable and open late.
Great pub off Time Square, which truly reminded me of our visits to the pubs in Ireland. The front desk seated us promptly with our reservations, and our server came by right away. Typical pub food, but with a nice variety, which we had Crab Mushrooms, Salad with grilled chicken, and Fish and Chips. The crab mushrooms were excellent with lots of real crab, and the Fish and Chips were very well made with crisp texture and very little oil. And of course, Guinness on tap… Overall a great getaway to a friendly pub away from the crowds of Time Square. Tips for your visit: Make a reservation to ensure you have a table
Close but not quite, let down by volume. A decent Irish bar just off Times Square, some reasonably good Guinness and some very good music. The problem is that the Guinness isn’t in pints and the music isn’t loud enough. You hardly get into the Guinness and it’s gone and the music is loud enough to recognise that it’s good (Fountaines D.C. and The Smiths for example) but not loud enough that you can hear it. Slightly increase the volume of both the Guinness and the music and you’re sorted.
Today 14th December 2025 the last daytime bartender Tanya from Ireland was very polite who's service was wonderful. Very busy and follow customers seemed to enjoy their time here that is a great sign for a bar restaurant. Only downside is a pint of beer is $11 for a IPA so expensive even for Times Square. Think there was a bar that gave specials on weekends during the day in Times Square but is not this bar so only three stars overall even though their food and service and atmosphere is great. Once back in 2024 had their weekend Irish breakfast that was good. Very recommended. Close to Times Square.
This place is good but our waitress sucked so bad. She was very rude. As a server myself, I know that sometimes I have lots of rough days but this woman didn’t even smile, and she basically did nothing for us. I was trying to get back to my table when I said excuse me, and she didn’t move so I had to walk around to get back. Very rude! As for the food, there is nothing spectacular about it but it was pretty decent. Also, It is pretty crowded and cramped but common for a small pub. Overall, I would say the service sucks and the food is mediocre. Not my favorite restaurant. Prices were pretty expensive but typical for New York City.
Small place, waitress wasn't attentive. Ordered a Shepard pie, which tasted like canned soup. Potatoes were delicious. We ordered coors lights which was flat and warm. Waitress said "thats how their served"
