Avis sur Okinii New York
10/10, no exaggeration. Onikii’s katsu was insane massive portion, perfectly crispy on the outside, and somehow still tender and juicy inside. Truly elite katsu. The service was attentive and efficient without being overbearing, which made the whole experience even better. Everything hit exactly how it should. Absolutely worth it and definitely going back. I’d recommend their edamame and katsu. SO GOOD!! Only downside, there was no heat or hot water in the bathroom/restaurant.
Walked into Okinii like a calm, hungry man… walked out warmer, fuller, and slightly in love. Started with shrimp tempura—crispy, clean, no nonsense. Miso soup did its job like a professional. Then came the pork katsu. Not the usual curry situation—this one’s dressed in a sweet BBQ sauce and swinging for the fences. Big portion. No regrets. Final boss move: hot yuzu sake on a freezing NYC night. That’s not a drink, that’s a hug in a cup. 🍶🔥
I ordered a party platter here last minute for my birthday, and they exceeded my expectations. It was a bit pricey, or maybe that’s just my opinion since I don’t usually do big orders-but it was worth it for a special occasion.
I had lunch here with my godmom who visited from Kentucky with her husband girlfriend and her husband. It was six of us It was delicious we had got three chicken fried rice My god mom got hers with noodles All the men got beers 🍻 I even had my miso soup It was good I love tofu and seaweed The food was really good service was really good our waiter didn't even mind taking pictures for us definitely will be back with my hubby I'm just glad my god mom got to see something nice The bill was $200 and they got decent tip.
Everything was perfect. My son and I stopped in randomly and were pleasantly surprised. Serving sizes were perfect for us to share. Every dish had a unique flavor. The food was healthy and filling. I had the steak teriyaki with fried rice. The best fried rice I ever had. The miso soup was perfect. My son had a ramen bowl and we had tuna and salmon shashimi. Sorry we forgot to take pictures……
I enjoyed their hibachi chicken. It was massive portion wise so definitely enjoy with a friend and get two sides of rice. Their california roll was also chefs kiss. Service? Top tier. So happy to have stumbled upon this gem! 10/10 would go again — solo or with friends, its welcoming to both.
The best sushi i’ve ever had! I got the “Tropical” roll with kani salad and sat at the bar where the sushi chef gave me a sashimi/seaweed salad on the house! The waitress was also very kind and attentive! Definitely worth a try, I’m from Florida but my boyfriend said this is a MUST TRY spot while i’m here and i'm glad i did! Definitely will again!
We were looking at the menu in the window and the manager came out to greet us. Staff is very friendly, everyone said hello on our way in and goodbye on our way out. Spicy kani salad and the short-rib appetizers were awesome. The rolls were incredible! They are very well priced and use the perfect amount of rice to emphasize the flavor of the fish & other ingredients. Our new favorite spot in NYC. Will certainly be back…often!
I was in Tokyo for 2 weeks recently and was craving some quality sushi with an authentic vibe. I was so pleasantly surprised to find this establishment hit all the marks for me. Our server was so kind and funny. We had a great time chatting with him about food and travels through Asia. We ordered the crispy tuna, Spicy Lady, Godzilla Roll (not fried) and everything was so delicious!! The fish was fresh, the drizzled sauce was just right and the crispy tuna was amazing!! The rice was fried giving it almost the same crunch as a chicharron. For dessert, I had the melon popsicle which is so creamy and taste like fresh melon, and my friend got the green tea mochi. Speaking of green tea, their tastes like the real deal. Everything we tried was wonderful and the atmosphere made me so happy. It’s beautifully decorated with Japanese red lanterns and feels like Tokyo. I highly recommend coming for lunch with friends or for a date night. The price point for the quality was also very fair. I’ll be back soon and I’m bringing more people!
A place serving both simple bites and full meals. For food, I’ll say average tbh, good but nothing special. However, price is good, staff is friendly, and the vibe is chill. Fine place to go when you don’t know what to eat. My friend and I were not that hungry so we only ordered an appetizer and a sushi roll. Beef ribs were really salty but the texture was good. Tropical roll was ok. Mango basically dominated the whole taste.
My new favorite sushi place. We ordered the American Dream and it was amazing— especially is you like rolls without rice. The atmosphere is cute and intimate. The service is amazing!!! I love the attention to detail, they brought us clean sharing plates with everything we ordered. Love it!!
I had a great time at Okinii! We stopped by for the hibachi grill and each got the steak and shrimp combination. Both were cooked perfectly– Steve (our chef) clearly knew what he was doing. He and the rest of the staff were really friendly and attentive. Also, the miso soup that came with the meal was a nice way to warm up on a rainy day! Will definitely be back (particularly with some friends)!
The staff is very attentive. They have outside seating available. The sushi is fresh. I love their gyoza and spring rolls. This was the first time I tried their hibachi, and it was pretty good. They make it in the kitchen not in front of you. The prices are decent for the area, and the hot sake is my go to. Have been here numerous times and will continue to come back.
Came here for dinner with friends and family. Everyone ordered their own dishes. Over all review is decent I would say 3.5 for the current price point and the quality. The sashimi is fresh, and the udons and steak teriyaki are great! But let me warn you first, the seafood teriyaki stated it has salmon, shrimps and scallops. Salmon was decent portion and 4 shrimps and half slice of the scallops, which was 1 thin piece of scallop. That was the reason for 3.5 stars. Or else it would have been a decent 4, for the quality, services and food portion.
Food was a little pricey for the amount. Went in with a party of 10, and we got 2 party platters. Those party platters were probably good enough for a group of 5 or 4. We only got sushi, and it wasn't bad! It was pretty good, and no one got sick, so I guess I would call it pretty good. The atmosphere was warm and the staff were so friendly and helped with a cake as well! Overall, it was a good experience and I'd go again.
The service was great but the grill had burn stains on it. We tried to eat from new grill but it wouldn’t heat up quick enough. The fried rice had a weird taste to it; maybe from the grill residue, utensils or food quality. The meat lacked salt and flavor without the sauces being added to them. I recommend adding yum yum sauce to the fried rice and ginger sauce to the meat. The saki and soju were great and the chef was generous with his portions. The playlist was fun to sing along to. I recommend this place for a playful, drunken night with friends!
RATS — Do Not Eat Here For context: my girlfriend and I have been regulars at this restaurant for quite some time. We live in the neighborhood, love ramen and sushi, and visited often enough that the servers remembered our orders. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, so this review is not directed at them. On 1/23/26, we came in for lunch and were seated at a table with a clear view of the kitchen. After ordering and beginning to eat our appetizers, I saw a rat run out of the kitchen and behind my girlfriend. I immediately told her, and she understandably panicked. The rat then ran back into the kitchen. I got a server’s attention to explain what had just happened—and while I was speaking to them, the rat ran out again, this time toward the back of the restaurant. At this point, both the server and my girlfriend saw it. I even suggested they review the security cameras if needed. We asked for our order to be canceled, which the server did immediately. The staff member was visibly shaken and clearly upset—he was almost speechless. We made it clear that we understood this was not his fault, but that the situation needed to be taken seriously. The real issue: At no point was the kitchen closed. Despite staff being informed and personally witnessing the rat, the restaurant continued operating as normal and remains open daily. Customers are still being served food in a space where a rat was actively running in and out of the kitchen. That is completely unacceptable from a health and safety standpoint. As much as we liked this place and the staff, this experience alone ensures we will never return.
The restaurant appeared cozy and were able to easily be seated until we were asked to move tables. The reason we were given was that other customers had called in for a table and that particular table was needed. Keep in mind that there were at least 10 tables open. Then the waiter came in to table out plate because they had run out plates. No one really checked on us. We were given water but the service was definitely different than the one given to other non minority customers. I would stay away from this place as unfair treatment is given if you are not the “right color”.
