Tasty food and awesome service! Chicken shawarma pita is my go to at Omar’s. Their take out options are great with a friendly and efficient service even when it’s busy. A solid choice if you are looking for lunch options around Bryant Park
Great service! We both got chix shawerma platters which comes with 2 sides. Heads up, they come with side salad, and we chose tabbouleh as one of the sides. Had we known about the side salad it came with already, we would have chosen a different side. We mentioned this to the gentleman at the register and he offered us another side. We got tzatziki and baba ghanoush! Both were delicious!! Kudos to staff for offering, this is true hospitality. Thank you Omars restaurant for an amazing meal and experience!!
Omer’s Mediterranean Cuisine is a great spot for lunch with friends or colleagues—perfect for good conversation over a delicious meal. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it easy to enjoy both the food and the company. On my first visit, I tried the Spicy Lamb Adana. It was cooked perfectly—juicy, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat. You could really taste the quality of the lamb in every bite. Definitely planning to come back to explore more of the menu. A solid choice for a satisfying Mediterranean lunch!
Food was honestly amazing, me and my family got the Omars specials which was 25 each person, we got baklava and some ayran drink(yogurt drink). I love the food, and the worker was really kind and patient! The food may be pricey but i believe its a good spot to go ones in a while! Honestly thank you to the staff for having a caring nice atmosphere and for the amazing food!
Title: A Midtown Gem for Halal Food Lovers! Review: While holiday shopping in Midtown Manhattan, I stumbled upon Omar's Mediterranean Cuisine near Grand Central, and what a find it was! The restaurant boasts a clean, spacious seating area, perfect for a cozy yet bustling Midtown experience. I was lucky to snag a table by the store window, where I could enjoy the sights of passersby while savoring some truly delightful dishes. The meal was a feast for the senses. I started with a comforting chicken noodle soup, followed by Omar's Signature dish—an impressive medley of mixed grilled meats, including chicken shawarma, chicken kebob, and lamb kofta, served with fragrant rice and a refreshing Eggplant Turkish Salad. Everything was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. I also picked up a chicken kebab sandwich for my wife, and she couldn't stop raving about it. As a thoughtful touch, the staff added a Mediterranean pastry to the order, which was a delightful surprise for us both. Good food, excellent service, and a prime location—Omar's is a true Midtown gem. I'll be returning soon!
We stumbled upon this place last year when we wanted to grab a quick bite since we had to rush to another place. It took us by surprise how amazing this was! You can tell that they are an old establishment. The food here is by far the best middle eastern I have had considering I am vegetarian. We always get the falafel platter to go but decided to dine in this time! They serve pita at the start, which was super soft & warm. I love everything about this place. It's food, & their hospitality. It's definitely special!
My wife and I stopped in for an early lunch just after the place opened at 11. The first thing that hit me was the wonderful aromas even before we made it through the door. Although there is an option for takeout we decided to sit inside and dine. The waiter greeted us promptly and got us some drinks. The menu is extensive and picking just one item is really hard we decided to get the special and some baba ganoush to enjoy while we waited. The food arrived quickly, it was hot and delicious. So many wonderful flavors all mixed together made for a delicious meal. The wait staff was very attentive and kept our drinks full and made sure we had everything we needed. We even got a nice surprise at the end of the meal when they brought us a couple of pieces of baklava which were absolutely delicious and tasted like they were dipped in butter. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and will definitely recommend it to anybody who asks and we should visit again.
3-Star Review for Omar’s Mediterranean Cuisine – 369 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY I recently dined at Omar’s Mediterranean Cuisine on Lexington Avenue and found it to be a decent experience, warranting three stars. The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and efficient, even during a busy time. The staff’s warmth made the visit pleasant. The restaurant was clean, which added to the overall positive impression. The food was flavorful with a great variety of side dish options. I ordered the spicy lamb platter with salad and beans, accompanied by a warm pita wrapped in foil and a complimentary piece of baklava for dessert. The lamb had a nice spicy kick, complemented well by the fresh salad and hearty beans. The pita was soft and warm, and the baklava was a sweet, flaky treat, though not particularly standout. Portions were medium but satisfying. On the downside, the seating was limited—there’s some, but not much, so finding a spot could be tricky during peak hours. The sauces were underwhelming, lacking the wow factor I’ve tasted at other Mediterranean spots. Overall, Omar’s offers a solid meal with excellent service and a clean environment, but the limited seating and average sauces keep it from being exceptional. I’d return for a quick bite if nearby, but it’s not a destination spot.
Food was average. Nothing that special. More hype than quality. The restaurant was spacious especially for NYC and not loud or busy (at least when we went). Service was bad like many others have said. Waiter (a bald guy) seemed like he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Rude, never a smile and very curt. He said there were no fries available for the 5 year old in our group yet when we were leaving, we saw another waiter bring fries for another table. Honestly don’t think this place will stay open very long or if they do, perhaps they have some other business on the side that’s funding it.
I usually enjoy my food from Omar's, but not today, unfortunately. i ordered a Falafel pita sandwich and it was disgusting. The falafel balls were cold, hard and thick. Perhaps undercooked? It was really AWFUL. I threw it away after trying to force myself to eat it. The texture in my mouth was terrible. Also the baklava was partially burnt. $11 plus down the drain. They guys behind the counter were nice as can be but the food today? TRASH. I hate to say it but it's true. Omar's I expect better from you. You're one of my favorite lunch spots in the neighborhood. This was VERY DISAPPOINTING.
I strongly advise against dining in at this location; takeout is the only safe option. My family and I had a deeply disappointing experience due to unexpected, outrageous pricing policies and extremely poor dining conditions. First, when my kids went inside to get sandwiches, they were told to sit and order inside. The price for eating inside was a shocking 50% higher than the takeout price—a massive, undisclosed surcharge that we were not made aware of until after ordering. Second, the restaurant applies a hefty 20% mandatory surcharge for groups larger than five. Since we were a party of six, we were hit with this extra fee, adding to the already inflated dine-in prices. These hidden costs essentially make the "dine-in" option a total scam. To make matters worse, the sitting area itself was very unpleasant. The space was smelly, making it genuinely difficult and uncomfortable to sit and eat. In summary, this establishment employs deceptive pricing practices by dramatically increasing prices for dining in and adding large, mandatory group fees. Combined with the hard-to-tolerate seating environment, this was a terrible experience. Only use this restaurant for takeout.
I recently visited a Shawarma restaurant and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. Despite the scorching heat outside, there was no air conditioner or fan available inside, making the environment even more unbearable due to the ongoing cooking activities. The food quality was decent, but the prices were exorbitant considering the overall experience. To add to the disappointment, the lack of variety was evident as I was craving lamb shawarma, only to be told it was unavailable. What struck me as odd was the fact that the cooking crew consisted of Mexicans preparing Arabic cuisine, which seemed to compromise the authenticity of the dishes. Overall, the absence of comfort, limited choices, and the absence of authentic flavors left me quite dissatisfied with my visit to the Shawarma restaurant.
