Avis sur Tea Magic New York
amazing boba. literally one of the best i've ever had and fair/reasonable prices for new york. the staff were super nice too and the service was amazingly quick!
I stop by sometimes for their frozen yogurt, which is always tart, high quality, and pretty healthy. Staff is friendly, a table is usually available.
The buns are huge for the price and are great. The Thai milk tea with bubbles was a great way to wake up. 5 stars
The mango green tea , delicious
Amazing kindness and amazing size! The large is massive and definitely worth it!
Great place for bubble tea went here consistently on my trip to NY and never had a bad experience.
Roast pork bun is fantastic, soup is huge, waffles are done just right, boba tea is really tasty, tea eggs are lovely, super friendly staff
This was by far the best bubble-tea experience I have ever had. Go here and give them all your money. I don't even work there. Promise.
Cute little bubble tea place. Good drinks, a few things to eat, and some small tables to sit at. There's a ramp to get in, not sure that the grade is necessarily ADA compliant, but makes getting my stroller in much easier than when they just had a large step to get up.
Awesome to have a good bubble tea place uptown. Service to be expected and a wide variety of delicious flavors to choose from. The hours are great especially if you work late and have a sweet tooth to satisfy.
I like it. They give out stamps every time you guy a drink (3 dollars off if you get 10 stamps). It's quick and better quality than the boba shop on campus.
Tea Magic is my go to place for bubble tea. Although situated in an unassuming corner of Morningside Heights(across the tourist trap of Seinfeld's Tom's Restaurant), it is easily one of the greatest boba joints in the tri-state region. They have a wide variety of flavors with quality tastes(I'd recommend trying honeydew, taro, and rose) and have a host of awesome toppings as well. They have a menu that goes beyond bubble tea to include delicious crepes and ice cream. If you're in the Columbia area, don't miss it.
Their large is gigantic. I've done other places and the large is about 12 oz. This place was more like 20oz. The coconut milk was delish. Will visit again!
Great bubble tea! I recommend the ginger milk tea with lychee - something that I don't see as an option on too many menus. The plastic on the cups is a little thin, but that doesn't bother me - less waste!!
Tea was good! I liked there are multiple options for both drinks and toppings but personally I don’t recommend “mango popping” tasted very weird.
Great Tea! Awesome Flavors! What an oasis during the period of the PAUSE!!! BUT be aware of the scam artists of one African American male and one Caucasian female in 30-40s nearby though!! They'll try to bump into you by intentionally not keeping social distances WITHOUT MASKS and drop their food on the sidewalk to mug you!!! DESPICABLE stains for the neighborhood!
Got expensive over time. Of course inflation but to put it in perspective, just few years ago around when they opened, it was $3 for small bubble tea with boba and now it’s $6.75
One of my favorite tea shop hangouts in the city. The ambience is good and it's a nice place for bringing back little treats for others to share. There are a number of different flavor options and combinations available. so it's fun to mix and match them, and the staff is very good at getting the orders just right. Some of my favorites include the chicken onion steam bun and any of the fruit milk teas with boba, especially the honeydew.
First time I've been here and I can promise you it won't be my last. I had the Jasmine Green milk tea and it was pretty good. A little bitter, could've been a touch more sweet to match the bitter taste but it was good and a great menu of items to select from. I was most impressed with the steamed buns. I've only had them once before and they weren't that good. They were average at best but the ones at Tea magic put those to shame. I tried the roast pork steamed bun and the red bean steamed bun which were both really good especially the red bean bun. I wasn't expecting that kind of sweetness but it wasn't over powering and the buns were soft and perfectly cooked. I was pleasantly surprised with the steamed buns and I look forward to trying the other flavors.
I've been going to this location for 2 years and each time I go in there I have not had a bad experience. my favorite flavor to get is the Thai milk tea with bobbas. the bubbles are super soft and sweet and the price definitely worth it. they also serve the most amazing steamed buns I have ever had. next time you go in try their red bean bun. you'll love it!
I've been coming to this bubble tea shop for five years, the staff is always amazing - knows me by sight and enters my order before I walk up! They are always so kind and sweet. I've brought so so so many friends here over the years and I've never - not once - had a friend dislike what they got. They have a wide selection and very delicious teas. My go to order is a large plain jasmine tea, half sweet, extra boba, light ice. Picks up my mood on any day. I supported them through the beginning of the pandemic - I may have been one of the first customers back in store - and I will always be a die hard fan. I wanna stress that making boba can be tricky sometimes. There are times I've gone here or other boba places and the pearls have been quite firm, or there's a residual taste of another flavor I didn't order in the tea. I always communicate that to this staff kindly (emphasis on kind) and they are always so gracious to make things right. If you have a bad experience, communicate it and let them try to fix it. This is a small business and they're trying to survive!
I go here for the bubble tea, which I absolutely love. I regularly get the coconut flavor in their largest sized cup with the bubbles since I'm not often on the Upper West Side. Honestly, bubble tea may not be for you for whatever reason, because some friends of mine actually really dislike it, but I think it's great. If you've always wanted to try some, come here, because it's one of the best in my opinion. Bubble tea is essentially flavored milk mixed with tea, and you have to ask for the "bubbles" as well. The bubbles are marble-sized tapioca balls that are also added to the mixture. They taste somewhat bitter (they're a plant root) on their own, but I find them to be a good complement to the sweet milk/tea mixture you're already drinking. They have the consistency of a gummy bear and other than that you'll probably hardly notice they're there, though some people just don't like bubble tea. Still, I say give it a try.
The drinks are pretty good and the boba is soft and chewy. They can adjust the sugar levels of drinks and have many milk supplements such as almond and oat. Great customer service!!!
TeaMagic is definitely a hit or miss place. Some of their flavors are the best I've ever had, while others are quite literally their worst. Here's an overview of the flavors I've had: 1. Hazelnut: Amazing, literally my favorite flavor ever. This is my usual order. 2. Taro: Also amazing, one of the best taros I've ever had. Definitely more on the sugary side (which I like). 3. Coconut: Very good -- more on the coconut side than the milk (which i like). 4. French Vanilla: Solid, definitely up there, but I've had better french vanilla. 5. Almond: Absolutely not -- Horrendous. Please do not get! 6. Black Milk tea: also incredibly mediocre! regretted trying it.
Obsessed. Best bubble tea in the area. A good variety of boba tea to choose from, milk and fruit based teas; hot and cold options of beverages also available. Prices are great. Service is quick and the workers are kind and pleasant. Food options: dumplings, tea eggs, buns, waffles, and some custard desserts, of which all are DELICIOUS. Space is clean and seating area despite small is good a good size.
Delicious Strawberry Milk Tea. Comfortable seating. Looking forward to future visits.
My friend wanted Thai Milk Tea but didn't like it at our usual go to. Glad we stumbled upon this place, she said it was so much better. The only thing I would recommend is getting an even lower percentage of sugar. I asked for 50% and it tasted like 100%. I appreciate the very fresh tapioca and the many available seats.
The jasmine green tea was stellar - highly recommend. I'm giving it only four stars because I wish it was more zero waste.
Cute tea store with good boba milk tea in the upper west side. They also have snacks and desserts to go with your drinks. With a $6 minimum for a credit card, it's best to bring cash or order a medium or large drink! My drink was a large almond milk tea with boba at 100% sugar. I'd lower the sugar amount next time since it was much sweeter than I anticipated. The sugar definitely overtakes the taste of the drink. Will be back because of the huge cups that are great for sharing!
Not sure why this place is marked with '$' ; for what it serves, it definitely makes it up to '$$'. Its prices are on par with Kung Fu Tea (read: very expensive), and quality comes close. I appreciate the customizable sweetness and ice options, but even my usual order of 'half sweetness and less ice' wound up very, very sweet. The bubbles are smaller than what I'm used to, but have a nice texture. My friend liked her sesame milk tea, and overall I enjoyed my regular black milk tea.
After walking by this place a dozen times, I decided to try it, and I'm impressed. On a hot day, there are few better options than the bubble tea, and even if you're not a tea person, come here. There are plenty of other options. Tea Magic I'd refreshing enough to help you forget all the stress in your life, at least for a while. I certainly recommend it.
I usually like coming here. But now I find it to be annoying now that the cups are paper cups. I feel I have to speed up enjoying my beverage instead of taking my time and enjoying it like I used to. Please go back to plastic cups. Staff is always amazing. l
Tea Magic has very good taro milk tea with boba. Weird credit/debit card minimum, which forces you to add to your order. I‘d recommend it to others.
Teamagic is probably the only bubble spot in upper west side of manhattan. They have the usually options. Their largest option like a buckets it so huge, when i got it i couldn't finish, i ended up giving to my friend to finish. All in all really good bubble tea
I love all of their drinks and crepes. The only thing they could improve on is the cakes and macarons which are usually stale and dry but quite a high price point. The drinks are always perfect and this is my go-to for bubble tea in the neighborhood.
Tea eggs are interesting and very different. Savory and spicy I would recommend giving them a try. The bubble teas are great. Good for a to-go tea.
Used to be good. Now it’s kind of hit or miss. The boba has no flavor. There are better places.
I been here a few times, but it's not my favorite. While they do have a wide selection, they all seem to have the same base flavor that I'm not crazy about. Also, it tastes like there's no dairy at all, so it's very thin to drink. I go because my daughter's a fan and they have late hours.
Not horrible. The drinks are hit or miss, sometimes they can be great other times horrible. The prices are also higher than other places in the neighborhood like whale tea and gong cha. They do have seating which is nice and not available at other boba shops in the city. Would NOT recommend the chai milk tea. The strawberry milk tea tastes artificial and not fresh. Jasmine milk tea is decent and so is the brown sugar boba.
Very inconsistent. One day the tea is flavorful and delicious, the next day its not. Sometimes their bubbles are sweet, and sometimes not. There seems to be no winning on the sugar either; one tea maker's 50% is another 75%. Disappointed, because when made right, their rose milk tea is super delicious!
I love the tea but so overpriced for bubble tea. Everywhere I go bubble tea is $4 for a large while here a small is $7 and the booba is additional price. Would love it so much more if it was more affordable or if they offered some student discount
The bubble tea used to be better for the price. The service is super fast but the quality of tapioca is low. Watery, as other reviews have said. Also you have to stir your own drinks..
To keep it succinct, Boba was very thin (watery) as mentioned in other reviews and very expensive (S 6.75 M $8.50 and L $10~) compared to other places like Gongcha. It was also very sweet for “regular sugar” and overall, it was just mediocre. I did like the matcha/brown sugar flavoring though and how they didn’t overload the drink with ice. Clean atmosphere and good staff! Probably would not return though. From a honest viewpoint from a local, gongcha or any other major boba chains are a lot better and cheaper than this.
Ordered a Thai tea, and it tasted like weird soap. Quite possibly the worst thai tea I've ever tasted in my life. This place is usually good, maybe just a bad day
This is a really cute place to sit and chat, but the bubble tea is very expensive and my taro boba was almost undrinkable because it had a strange, unpleasant taste.
Service was fine, but food and drinks were overpriced. The jasmine milk tea with bubbles was not good at all. It mostly just tasted like milk.
Tea was good, but the drinks are 1.5-2x more expensive than every other shop in the area with no real difference in quality. $8 for a plain milk tea with boba? I’ll pass. Skip this place and go to one of the others within 5min walk.
I ordered Greentea/Matcha & Azuki beans crepe, and fish ball soup. I did not see any green tea/ matcha on this crape nor tasted it. It was super sweet to the point that you get a sugar rush. I don’t expect Asian sweets to be this level of sweetness. It was the worst crape I have ever had. Fish ball soup was fine. I have not tasted their bubble tea, I would imagine it is super sweet if you don’t ask to reduce the sweetener.
I liked my drink, an almond flavored milk tea with tapioca, except I forgot to add tapioca when I initially ordered and the cashier didn’t ask (never been to a boba spot in New York where they don’t ask). So when I realized my drink wasn’t made with boba, I asked one of the two people working if I could add tapioca to my drink still. They could not have been more annoyed to accommodate this request, even though I paid for the topping afterwards, it took them under a minute to do, and there was no line. Then when the other person working handed me the drink again, they had daggers in their eyes. Such a wild reaction that I was cracking up when I left the store.
Went yesterday around 9pm and ummm the guy at the register, gave me the wrong amount of change and I noticed him putting the two bucks in the tips without asking me. That was extremely rude of him for doing that and I didn’t say anything about it because I thought “maybe he needs it more than me” but to charge me incorrectly and take it as tips without asking or waiting to see if I’d tip was extremely horrible service. I still love the tea, it’s amazing but I will be taking my money elsewhere
Sugary water. No tea, no milk, no quality. Only a mimicry of real milk tea. You can tell by the density, texture, and taste of the drink. Save your money.
Got taro milk tea. Way way wayyyyyy too sweet. Like disgustingly. When I asked if there was a way for it to be less sweet they said no and didn’t offer any alternatives. A lot of places I’ve been too let you pick a sweetness level
Very disappointed in the service. When I started to drink my slushee, the cup cracked and the liquid begin to leak out. They switched out the cup but returned 1/3 of the amount I handed over to them. When I mentioned to them it was not even close to the amount I handed them, the man replied that it was my fault that the cup broke. Thanks, I won't be returning.
I did not like the tea. The customer service was also really bad. The girl on duty today needs to be sent to training! Better tea places around!
This is a really bad bubble drink place, zero stars. The drinks were severely lacking flavors and the bubbles hardened after only a few sips. The worse bubble drink place I have ever been to.
I had ordered a medium drink and they charged me with a large drink price. Drink was good but service was bad. Come here if you want to be scammed.
If I could give 0 start I would. The young lady in the front was very rude! The owner of this place should train the employees to represent better the business.
I ordered coconut milk tea and it had no taste of tea. It was sweet hot milk. Don’t suggest this place. But I hope it gets better.
No Bubbles in a bubble tea store…how is that possible. Ordered a matcha milk tea and watched him fill it up to the brim with water. Tasted horrible and gave me an attitude when I asked for a remake
$8 for not good boba. Much disappointment. It tasted like watery ice and milk with barely any black tea.
They overpriced everything and charging for everything🤨. The milk tea series is way to sweet, the Magic crape is super small... like a palm size...lol🥲. There are lots of better tea place to go, don't go and waste your money @Tea Magic😶.
Horrible service. I asked for decaffeinated Jasmine tea. Jasmine tea is not always green tea. Maybe the staff should know what teas are decaffeinated. I was given green tea and could not exchange a size small. Pathetic service. I purchased 2 drinks and just wanted to exchange one. The bubbles are not fresh either. Go to Kung Fu tea. They’re always reliable and would gladly serve. Sure have a policy. The first policy should be your employee listening and knowing what a customer wants.
Worst matcha tea ever. Very watery, almost no milk. Didnt even shake well.
This has got to set a new low for the quality of bubble tea on UWS. There aren't fantastic options in the neighborhood, but Tea Magic is far worse than Gong Cha (which is OK and dependable). Sadly Kung Fu tea nearby closed. I ordered a Roasted Oolong Tea with bubbles and grass jelly. It literally tasted like water with hard little bubbles and tasteless jelly. My partner's drink was also too sweet (at lowest amount of sugar - 25% I think) and the flavor was bitter (over-brewed). At approximately $10 a drink (for a large - should have looked at their sizes and pricing a bit closer, they are very different from other locations! Large is HUGE). The drinks itself took less than a minute to create, which really speaks to the quality. Save yourself money and get your fix at Shiny Tea instead! For all it's quirks, they make satisfying drinks.
Drinks are fine but the employees try to overcharge you and are rude. I ordered a medium, got a small, and they charged me for the medium. When I asked them to fix the price they refused too saying the tax is very high which is complete B.S. Do not go here.
The price is so high and the quality doesn’t match. I tried Taro milk tea and it’s too sweet. Just think about machi machi cost about the same money but at least their milk tea tastes good.
The boba is far too sugary and watered down, even for less sugar. The cashier was extremely rude, glaring the whole time.
Terrible service. I asked for bubble tea cold. Got it warm as if it was kept room temperature. I asked for ice then they opened the lid didn’t reseal it or give me a new cup and I left with a bucket of tea with no lid or seal spilling everywhere. They wouldn’t reseal or give me a lid or pour into a new cup despite requesting it. She said t was impossible
no flavor whatsoever, tastes like 70% tap water 30% milk tea. absolutely worst boba i've ever had.
It's mentioned that the shop closes at 11pm, but they closed 15 minutes before the time stated on their sign. We spoke to them about it, noting the discrepancy, and jokingly suggested they update their closing time to 10:45pm. However, they just said okay and closed the shop, even though it was still before 11pm
Guys. Please do NOT order from here. I had their boba and it gave me INSANE food poisoning. I had to go to the hospital because of them. They thought my appendix burst but NO. IT WAS THE BOBA. DO NOT GET ANYTNING FROM HERE
Beware. Drinks are average at best, but more importantly the staff is very careless making them and makes errors that they won’t make right. And unfortunately, even the ownership doesn’t stand by her products and literally refuses to speak to the customers. There are better tea shops in the area and I advise frequenting those instead.
The drinks were once great but the service is horrible. We’d been coming here for over a year multiple times a week, but lately they have new staff and apparently have no customer service. I ordered multiple drinks and the kid refused to accept my modifications (dairy allergy) which had never been a problem. Then I asked for a tray, instead the young cashier handed me a plastic bag. Refused to give me a tray and told me the plastic bag is what they have (a lie since I’m a regular). All in all, there’s other tea places within a 5 block radius which I’d recommend a lot quicker.
How can a boba tea place make their CLASSIC MILK TEA Terrible? Absolutely no milk content, as if it’s just water with heavy tea caffeine. Little amount of boba. Artificial taste of flavored milk tea. Not worth the price.
I really had big hopes for the place. However the moment I walked in the place, it had garbage all over the floor. Also, the cashier was not friendly at all, and from what I saw the entire staff is lacking some customer service skills. I had a craving for crepes so I order the banana Nutella and they served it in a foil takeout platter and that was not the experience I was expecting, since they have cute pictures of desserts served on actual plate in their displays. In terms of flavor, it was alright. I have gone to several bubble tea places and this place doesn’t standout in any way.
This is the worst tea place I have ever visited. I will not recommend. They put A LOT of sugar and when I asked to adjust it the girl told me no next time say it when you are ordering. I have the milk tea many times before from many different tea places and this was beyond sweet it was undrinkable to the point I have to throw it in the trash can and the girl just laugh. Clearly they do NOT care about customer service.
I went to this boba place with my family thinking it was going to be good since we had someone who was seeing New York for the first time and there was about 11 of us.We ordered our drinks and one of my younger family members dropped his drink on accident because he didn't know the table was spinnable. We politely asked the staff if they could make another one because it was an accident and they got all rude and started cursing and giving us attitude since they had to make many drinks and they were closing soon.At first we said it was an accident and that we payed 90$ for the drinks plus a 5$ tip and they were trying to make us pay for another one since there was so many drinks and it was a lot for them to make but there was was three of them in the store working at the time. they said that we were giving them extra work and making their job harder when there was other customers in the store. We got our drinks and we noticed that after the argument it seemed like they didn't care at all and all the drinks tasted like water and as if they didn't add the flavor at all into the drink.
