Cam Ahn is my favorite hole-in-the-wall bánh mì spot in Oakland Chinatown, hands down. It’s one of those places you almost want to keep a secret… but it’s too good not to share. The real reason this is my go-to? I eat plant-based, and they make the freshest, most delicious shredded tofu spring rolls and bánh mì. Not an afterthought, not a sad substitute—this is legit, flavorful, crave-worthy food you honestly can’t find everywhere. And then there’s the Chinese donut. Absolutely evil. Crispy, airy, dangerously good—the kind you think about later and suddenly need again. The service seals the deal. Ahn, the owner, and her staff genuinely make you feel at home every single time. Warm, kind, and welcoming in that way that keeps you coming back even when you weren’t planning to. If you’re in the area and want amazing food with heart behind it, Cam Ahn is it. 🌱🥖🔥
Came back to Oakland visiting from Texas. Had to stop by Anh’s and get myself a banh mi. As soon as I walked in Anh greeted me with a huge smile and prepared me a fire #7 banh mi from her menu. 10/10
I had an amazing experience at Cam Anh Deli! The food is absolutely delicious, with a diverse range of authentic Vietnamese dishes that are both healthy and flavorful. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the service was exceptional—super friendly staff who made me feel right at home. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for tasty, healthy Vietnamese food. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Love the sandwiches! I got the tofu. Cam Ahn is so friendly :)
Food was so delicious & fast service, I would truly recommend this place if your looking for a super delicious meal 🤤 👍
My go-to Banh Mi restaurant. The sandwiches are packed with flavor and the bread is crispy but not too crunchy, which I like. Highly recommended.
Omg! The place is more delicious than before. I love that there's more vegetarian options. I got #10 banh mi, lemongrass tofu. It's braised tofu! So good! It taste fresh and clean. I'm so happy!
I'm not sure if the name change, I actually didn't pay attention to it, I'd always remember it being a Chinese restaurant growing up, but that didn't make sense as this is where I discovered Thai ice tea. On my way home, I would stop and get a bite to eat, Photo is old.

Delicious food and incredibly friendly atmosphere! Will definitely be back :)
Very good banh mi! I would recommend the pork option!
Incredible banh mis and the aunties are so sweet!
Walked in for lunch and was greeted right away. Got helped and was told about the different options so I went for a tray of fried rice, a grilled pork sandwich and some shrimp spring rolls. I will definitely come back here again. Everything was rich in taste.
Quaint place with very friendly and courteous staff. The pork belly rice dish was delicious and had a home cooking quality. Spent less than $25 on two entrees! Looking forward to trying Banh Mo on my next visit.
Friendly place for a quick bite, the staff were very friendly and good service. Learned this place has been open for 48 years! My friend and I had their bahn mi, I liked how they served them in toasted buns

Delicious bánh mì for an awesome field trip!! The owner is a huge advocate for supporting small businesses in Oakland Chinatown
Food delicious, people very kind. Highly recommend if you are looking for something flavorful

The owner is super friendly and accommodating. We had the lemongrass tofu banh mi, spring rolls, and egg rolls. All were vegan. The owner is vegan and was very happy to serve fellow vegans. The kids loved it as well. Great prices and great food!!
This place has really good Banh Mi and has multiple vegetarian and vegan options. The owner is super friendly and accommodating. I love hitting this place up for lunch. Street parking nearby can be a pain, but it's worth it!
Just got their chicken ban Minh sandwich. It’s yummy. Nice that it close to work. They have Apple Pay! Other places it cash only. The owner is super friendly. I will be back.

Best place in china town that I've found for Banh Mi. Solid sandwich and they always have some Vietnamese dessert options too. It is about $8 for a sandwich at time of writing which is quite a bit more than what you'd pay down in San Jose but seems pretty standard for this area.
Don't come here. I ordered the special combo banh mi + extra pate for $12. The sandwich had only 1 slices of each meat, the bread was very old and hard and they never have me extra pate. Do not eat here the food is sub quality.
I came here on Saturday afternoon at 12pm. There was no line which is a clear giveaway that it is not popular with the locals. The bread was stale and hard. The fillings were ok; I was expecting a little more spice. For a banh mi that is priced $9+ I was definitely expecting more but I was disappointed The ice Vietnamese coffee ( cà phê đá) was bitter and harsh. Also in my cup, there was more ice than actual coffee. All in all, I would pass and look for other options. It’s too bad because the former sandwich shop in this location was fantastic. I believe it was called Cam Huang

Got a small mien/noodles and BBQ pork banh mi for $9. Maybe I've got Corona and have lost my sense of taste and smell or maybe their food has no taste or smell. Plus very bad cuts of meat were used in the Banh Mi, I had to pull out large chunks of fat and cartiledge. The noodles were okay but very little protein, like thinner then lunch meat shavings of some kind, and lots of cilantro stems and carrots. Not the worst but not good by any means. Not sure if the Cam Hoang in Union City is related to this place but that location is amazing they get 5*, hopefully they can get more consistent across locations.
So I have no complaints about the food. I usually just get a chicken sandwich and there's really no way to mess that up. Their service is just REALLY slow. Considering I went at the beginning of lunch, so the line was fairly short, you'd expect to in and out in 2-3 minutes tops. It was about 7 minutes. The cashier was just talking a lot with one of the customers while a few of us were just waiting to pay, with our orders done and waiting on their counter. I've been spoiled by the previous owner.
Vietnamese coffee is terrible, tiny cup full of ice and then only filled 2/3 with coffee. Ridiculously overpriced at $7…..
Its funny how all the high reviews are from white people who didnt grew up eating at this place. I havent been to this spot in over a decade and a lot has changed. The fried rice, eggroll, and banh mis were just so so bad smfh. Compared to 15 years ago this place is a shell of itself. Rice texture and taste felt like a couple of days old rice. The banh mi bread was definitely stale. The egg rolls were also old from what i can tell as it was super dry. Theres no way it came out of a fryer that morning. This place sucks which is why theres no more big lines for it anymore. Ive heard the rumors of the new owners destroying it but didnt realize it was this bad! Prices are also outrageous for bad food. White people love to inflate these reviews and trick people😂😂😂 Edit: At least its cleaner now for the white people
This was a great place in it's previous incarnation as Cam Huong. But a new person took it over, changed the name, kept the same menu, and raised the prices significantly. Since the name change we have tried it occasionally. Nothing is as good as before, and the prices are too high, but I kept hoping they would work out the kinks, because they are convenient. This is the most expensive banh mi around, the most expensive spring rolls, and the quality has gone downhill. We gave it one last try this weekend. The banh mi was ok, but nothing compared to Cam Huong on international, which is the same as the original. Egg rolls were recommended. They were cold, and might have been good hot, but the texture was off. Spring rolls were oddly fishy, and over priced. Fried rice was clumped and hard, and tasted like it had turned. I spit it out. I'm disappointed, because this location is convenient, but we will never go back.
