It gets busy here but the way to order food and alcohol makes it easy to never be ignored by the staff. Have had burritos here before but definitely believe the drinks are the highlight! Guac and chips are a very healthy serving! Spicy mango margaritas
Where do I even start. I LVOE DOÑA. I DoorDash from them at least 5x a week. Also love their sister restaurant Tacubaya, wear their merch and rave about them to all my friends. The ingredients taste so fresh, the seasonal agua frescas make my week and when I dine in, I love the upbeat atmosphere. Great place to stop for a drink after work, or a night out with the girls! So much love for this establishment!!!❤️❤️🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Love this place! Delicious food (order at counter). Lots of indoor and outdoor seating (heated). Agua frescas we're perfect!
It's a perfect spot to meet up with people at since it has a parking lot and a lot of large tables, can easily seat big parties, and has a large bar. I eat here about once a week and it's pretty good, solid 4 stars for food. Not really into their burritos, but everything else is pretty good and the key lime pie is outstanding. It's a solid 4.5 overall but upon writing this they're at 4.4 so it's my turn to put in for 5 stars to average it out
This spacious casual dinning was just what I needed. The enchiladas with mole sauce was delicious. My husband enjoyed his burrito. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Everything is sort of like a la carte. Which means my enchiladas didn't come with rice and beans. Which was fine, just wanted to let you all know.
You haven’t lived until you’ve Doña’d. Just say Doña to anyone in the area and everyone just goes, “oh my gosh, I love that place!!” Genuinely come to this place all the time and am never disappointed. The nachos are in my dreams at night and so are the passionfruit margaritas. The sopa is also a standby fav for me. Service is almost so quick it’s suspect but I’m a fan because there is never a long wait. My entire extended family does “Satur-Doña” at least twice a month and it’s become a fun tradition. Family friendly, always good, an Oakland Establishment and must try.
Beautifully decorated. Love the self service/bussing aspect. Love the open air upstairs area. Margaritas are SO good! Parking lot is small but it worth looking for parking on the street to come here.
Dona is my go to spot for quick delicious Mexican-ish food. They have a great menu that blends CA cuisine and traditional Mexican pretty well. Everything I’ve ever had here has been really good and they have lots of vegetarian options. The vegetarian bowl is a favorite of mine, the squash is always perfect and even though it’s got kale which I don’t typically prefer, it’s not overpowering and make a lovely accent to the other flavors and textures. Try the nachos if you’re really hungry, they’re packed with beans and cheese and delicious guac on top, but the portion is VERY generous, so share with a friend or come really hungry!
Doña is a bright, welcoming restaurant on Piedmont Avenue with high-quality Mexican-inspired food and a spacious indoor and outdoor setting. The cozy interior and heated patio make it perfect for any occasion—whether you’re with friends, family, or even your dog. Favorites like the Pollo Asado Bowl, Sopa de Lima, and Cauliflower Tostada stand out for their fresh, bold flavors. The chips & queso are a must! Vegetarian and vegan options are available, and everything is made with care. Service is fast and easy with counter ordering, and the vibe is casual and friendly. Whether you’re grabbing brunch, dinner, or happy hour drinks, Doña offers a relaxing, tasty experience in a beautiful space.
Doña is a great place to experience quality Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere was pleasant, but getting used to the cafeteria-style service is not something I've seen much of. Nevertheless, once I had observed the customs, we eagerly dove into the food, which looked so pleasing. The flavors delivered a top-tier experience. A very nice touch was the vegetarian option for the bowl. Overall, I feel great about the location and service.
I love that this restaurant has clearly labeled vegan items on the menu. The cauliflower tostada was amazing! I'm vegan and my husband isn't, so we ordered both vegan and non-vegan dishes. The cashier double-checked that cheese was okay on the non-vegan item, which gave me confidence that they understand vegan preferences. I really appreciated their attention to detail and thoughtfulness!
Lovely little restaurant at the end of Piedmont avenue. Lots of space. Indoor and outdoor. Food is very nice and they serve you quick. You have to order up at the front. There's no table service. Can get crowded and the inside may be a little bit noisy but overall a lovely place to visit on Piedmont avenue.
$100 including tax + tip for everything pictured. This is a self-serve restaurant, order at the counter, get your own water, etc. My friend literally had a bird shit on her while we sat under their patio so we moved inside lol. I liked my chicken tacos and churros
I love the butternut squash kale tacos with pepitas and their margaritas. I was given dairy here once, though. I'm allergic and definitely specified that I'm vegan.
Doña is beautiful and has a great summer patio, but service and food is somewhat mid. Quality: 4 Value: 4 Service: 3 Ambience: 5 The patio and outside is absolutely gorgeous - it is one of the best outdoor dining spots in good weather. They have some heaters in winter, plus gorgeous lights. Inside is also beautiful! The food is fine. It's not the best carnitas or enchiladas ever. Their fish tacos are excellent. Servings are small for the price, but get, it's the Bay Area I guess? The service and upstairs only bathroom and self serve utensils etc is a little clunky.
y review isnt about the food. Honestly the dishes are well made and worth the price. Service is fair and typically runs smooth. My only complaint is with the parking and somewhat organozed crime going on. You MUST pay for parking at all times. The parking lot is private and does not belong to Doña. The parking lot is poorly lit and signs are not very visible. Doña posts signs with all kinds of info but nowhere is there information about the parking. I think as customers and them knowing whats going on, they could help patrons out by informing them at the very least when paying.
Food was super good. I got the nachos with barbacoa. It was very flavourful. Also got a couple margarita "pitchers" for the table to split. That was good as well, but the size of the "pitcher" is not worth the price. The "pitcher" is really just a Mason jar. I was expecting a real pitcher, like you get at a sports bar. As far as service, food came out fairly quickly. What I was not a fan of was that almost everything was self serve. They only bring you your food. You order/pay at the register (and our cashier wasn't the friendliest). They hand you your drinks. And find your own seat. They bring you your food. And that's the end of their service lol. You have to get your own silverware, your own napkins, your own straws, your own salsa, and when your ready to go, you have to get your own to-go boxes. There's no waitress seeing if you need a refill or anything. We were first time visitors and was expecting a restaurant style of service so it threw us off lol. Overall though, I would go back and order the nachos again. And the margaritas, just not a "pitcher".
Doña is like the Picante of Oakland. A lot of young parents with little kids eating Mexican food. The menu isn’t super expansive but the food is decent. Rather similar to her other restaurant Tacubaya in Berkeley, but with less options. Ambience is decent and I’m sure it’s nice to sit outside in the summer or when the weather is warm but in the winter not much of an option. Due to being robbed too many times (yay, Oakland!) they no longer accept cash.
Faaaaaast service. We ordered and walked up the steps to grab a seat. The waiter was already out with the food. The best flavor was the guacamole of what we had. The soup was pretty good lots of tortillas. The chicken enchiladas with mole were good as well. The atmosphere was great pleasant and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the weather . The strawberry horchata was yummy
I wanted to like this place because the outdoor patio and terrace seemed pretty cute but now after going there, that was the only part I liked. After walking in, there was not anyone to greet us or tell us how the ordering worked - ran into a waitress on her phone. They had run out of menus by the door and people waiting behind in line had to wait to use ours, but it wasn’t crazy packed with people and lots of space to sit inside or out. The food was decent but nothing crazy - also they were out of ceviche. The pre-batched Paloma tasted like it had been made a long time ago and the beer is poured in 1/2 pint, not a full pint. Service is non-existent and you can get better food elsewhere
My boyfriend and I decided to try this place after seeing the great reviews and walking by the restaurant a few times. We split a pollo asada burrito and both of us left still hungry. The food came quickly, but the burrito was very middle of the line, not to mention small for the price. There was only beans, meat, and rice in it and there was really no outstanding flavors. We also got the strawberry horchata which had the flavor and consistency of a thin strawberry smoothie. We wanted some chips and salsa but didn't want to pay an additional $8 for them. We won't be back, even though the atmosphere and interior of the restaurant was very cool. Also, it is all self serve. You walk up to the cashier who takes your order and they deliver it, but you have to get your own silverware and bus the table yourself. Not necessarily a downside, but just an fyi as we didn't realize this and were a bit confused when we walked in.
