Hadn't been in a long while. I felt like having a pambazo and a quesadilla de huitlacoche. Both were tasty, especially the pambazo with the perfect toasted bread. To drink I ordered the orange with papaya água fresca, that I highly recommend. We also tried the chilaquiles. They use different thicker chips. They were a bit over fried, but the salsa was good. We'll be back to try some more.
Great place!! Always looking for authentic Mexican food!! Went back in time with every bite! Micheladas flavor was perfect
Came across El Huarache Azteca and was BEYOND happy with my surprise. The service was kind and quick. The food options will make your mouth water. I enjoyed the Alambre. The portion came with a load of mixed meats, veggies and cheese, alongside 4 handmade tortillas. I washed this all down with an agua de fresa/leche. (Strawberry milk water). This restaurant will not disappoint.
Highlights of the meal - the alambre and the chips. The alambre was delicious and well executed. The tortillas and the chips were also very tasty. I didn’t even need salsa because I was enjoying the taste so much. Don’t worry, I did end up using salsa as well. The huarache wasn’t my favorite, but my fiancé liked it, and just take a look at the giant steak on top! Hard to beat that.
Amazing authentic Mexican food with vegetarian options. I loved their vegetarian huaraches and veggie stuffed quesadillas. The fresh drinks were authentic and tastes home made. I recommend to any vegetarians who love home made Mexican food
100% Recommend this place The food was delicious Totally worth it 😋
Excellent service. Beautiful people. Tasty comida! First time here, now long time patron in the future. Outside dining they couldn't have done it better. Very clean and elegant
Food is just AWESOME! Good service Huitlacoche and flor de calabaza quesadillas, huaraches, beer.... Check out the menu you'll be surprsed.

I’ve ordered from here several times. I’ve had the chile relleno, flautas, pollo en mole, guisado de carne and most recently a taco de barbacoa. Together with the rice and beans, each dish has been delicious with a definite homemade charm. The prices are fair, and they take Apple Pay. Definitely my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Oakland area. Food is delicious, the staff is attentive yet gives you space, and the atmosphere gives “hidden gem away from the commercial restaurant” vibes.
After about 5 years we finally came back to this whole in the wall for their delicious food. My boyfriend had the sample platter and i had the barbacoa platter, let me tell you!! 10 out of 10 🤌🔥🔥🔥 I am committed to taking the drive from Los Angeles to this place when ever I can.
Wanted chilaquilles. Came here on a friend's recommendation, didn't disappoint. The food was tasty, the staff is so attentive and nice. The atmosphere is great. Parking is scarce, so try the side streets. Va ver una segunda vuelta, de seguro
I've only been here twice, but was thoroughly satisfied both times. The last time I went, they had a special dish, chile en nogada. I've only seen this dish at one other location in the Bay Area, and it's quite labor intensive from what I gather. It's a beautiful dish, so visually attractive that you might not want to eat it! But do because it's delicious. Oh, and to top things off, they gave me a free calendar last time I was there.
A very wonderful experience of ACTUAL AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD not that wishy washy places they call authentic, but this place makes you feel like grandmas place real Mexican food. To the owners Thank You .

Had lunch here the day before Mexican Independence Day. We came looking for Chiles en Nogada which they serve around that date and it was delicious, I highly recommend it. We also ordered Pozole with pork which was good, and it was enough to serve as a full meal for one. They also have desserts, we had pastel de tres leches and cafe de olla. The staff is attentive and friendly.
Lo ve t his place for their sheep babaracoa and consome I recomended, serve only on weekends. My favorite is their aguas frescas; cactus with pineapple is the best! Dishes defiantly are authentic like; red sauce, green source on dishes. We ordered chilaquiles, torta and huazontle.
The food is really good, the place makes you feel like home.

We got to go for dinner. The Cubano was good (it was HUGE) and the steak taco was good too. The Alambre veggie was good, but not worth the price. The service was very good. She was super nice.
I love this place. It's the small family atmosphere there that really keeps me coming back. The food is great it's always well prepared and tastes delicious. There is one thing that I do not like and it's the rice. it's never very flavorful for me and a bit bland. But everything else is spot on. All the different types of meats are always very tender and delicious. Their sauces are full of flavor. Definitely a place to give a try too if you're ever in the neighborhood.
The sit-down vibes are right on. Lots of great plates and vibes. The old-school birria is good I mean it's GOOD. Lots of saucy dishes with flavor. When we came in there was a singer really just belting, my wife was feeling that especially. Will hang again
This was my first time here. I had the pollo en mole. It was very good, although I prefer my mole less sweet and a little more spicy. I'm just glad I found a place I can get good mole. The service was friendly but inattentive. I did not have anything to drink through most of my meal. They overcharged me, but I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize it until i got home. I will be back, but I'll pay more attention when I'm paying.

I stopped by this establishment for lunch, a decision I now regret almost as much as the bill that followed. What began with the modest expectation of a quesadilla and a tlacoyo devolved into a dreary exercise in patience and disappointment. The kitchen apparently regards time as a negotiable concept—20 minutes for undercooked tortillas, another 15 for their grudging correction. The quesadilla, when it finally appeared, was passable, though hardly worthy of note. The tlacoyo, however, was a culinary cipher: flavorless, joyless, and inexplicably priced at eleven dollars. To this insult was added the quiet larceny of the beverage list—a Coke in a bottle at six dollars, as though it were some rare vintage—and the audacity of charging four dollars for the perfunctory chips placed on the table without warning. By the end, I was thirty dollars lighter, having received in exchange a quesadilla, a dismal tlacoyo, and the bitter taste of being taken for a fool. The sole redemption was the waitress, attentive and gracious in spite of the chaos behind her. One might say she deserved a better stage on which to perform. Alas, service cannot redeem food that is both indifferent and overpriced. To call it “sneaky” would be charitable. I shall not be returning.
