Let’s get one thing straight, Squaw / Palisades Village isn’t where you go to find grit. It’s where dogs wear shoes and everyone’s name sounds like a skincare line. So when someone tells you there’s a place here with soul, you assume it’s just a well-branded kombucha pop-up. But then you find PlumpJack. A diamond in the organic, overpriced rough. A place that somehow escaped the Pinterestification of everything. The first thing you notice? Metal décor that wraps around the place like a hug from a cold but well dressed robot. There’s this suspended fireplace, just hovering there, Jetsons-style. It doesn’t warm you with flames as much as with hope. Hope that someone, somewhere, still cares about ambiance and the future at the same time. I sat at the bar, which felt less like a restaurant and more like a friend’s living room, if your friend was a retired rockstar who now only drinks mezcal and reads Murakami. I was handed a complimentary shot, not for any occasion, but just because the staff clearly looked at me and said, “Yeah, this guy’s been through something.” I had. Traffic mostly. But still. Then came the charcuterie board, which wasn’t just good, it was religious. Meats, cheeses, and accoutrements laid out like a spread at a Roman emperor’s hangover brunch. It whispered, “Forget your past. This is your life now.” And then that homemade sourdough. My god. It had trauma. The kind of chew that tells a story. You bite it and suddenly you're seven years old again, standing in a kitchen you’ve never been in, but somehow remember. Bread like that should be illegal in three states. The main dish? Some kind of sea bass, I think. But at this point, names didn’t matter. It was buttery, flaky, perfectly crisped on the outside, and spiritual on the inside. Like it had once been to therapy and came back better for it. It sat on a pile of couscous so buttery, I considered calling my ex just to say I’ve moved on. And then the Banan Moretto Sour. I don’t know who invented this drink, but I owe them money. I took one sip and my mouth went on vacation. It was like sipping dessert in a tropical country where shoes are optional and regrets are taxed. The outdoor patio? Gorgeous. Shaded, serene, and suspiciously free of leaf blowers. Inside looked like a Nordic design showroom decided to retire in wine country. Tasteful, soft light, and not a single Edison bulb in sight. Miracles happen. The staff? Angels. Not the fake-smile kind. The kind that genuinely care if you’re having a good time, but would also know how to hide a body if it came to that. PlumpJack doesn’t belong in Palisades and that’s why it’s perfect. It’s not just a restaurant. It’s a reminder that you can still be surprised. That somewhere in the algorithmic, influencer choked chaos of L.A., someone is still quietly making art.

This restaurant was truthfully really good. When I initially entered, I wasn’t sure if it’d be above my price range but I decided to venture on and try it nevertheless. I thoroughly enjoyed my squash dish, dessert and my specialty drink. I had the luxury of meeting some fellow patrons who were congenial and pleasantly conversational. Definitely give this place a try if you’re searching for a place to eat after your ski adventures.

We dropped in for lunch not knowing what to expect, and they were able to seat us outdoors to accommodate our dog. The place has a unique & creative menu, and even the kids meals were not the typical fare. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was authentic and served with a very unique slaw containing lightly fried cucumbers. Our kids had the sirloin steak kids meal which was served with fries and broccolli. We also enjoyed the soup of the day which was a vegan red pepper soup.

The food is amazing and the wine is excellent. The prices are steep ($35 for a plate of duck and quinoa) but it tastes wonderful. The service is top notch and the setting is more than out of this world. Taking a walk around Squaw Valley Resort before or after dinner is very much recommended.

Definitely the best restaurant that I've ever been to that is physically located within a ski resort. It's a bit loud (okay it can be deafening) but they have creative cocktails and food and substantial portions for hungry skiers. Just don't wear your ski pants--it's classier than that. I will definitely be back if I am ever in Squaw Valley again.

This review is to address specifically plumpjack during covid times, when the dining room was not open. PlumpJack has recently updated their pizza menu and I ordered multiple pizzas to see how they fare. Let me tell you, PlumpJack is now the number one pizza place in all of North Lake Tahoe. I am not exaggerating. The crust is crispy with just enough chewiness. I love the cornmeal on the bottom. The sauce is top-notch. The ingredients are really great obviously quality. Pizzas come in 12 or 16 in and you can make your own pizza. The Hawaiian pizza was out of this world. The pizza here is better than any pizza-specific restaurant in all of northlake. I highly recommend it!!

We love this restaurant ! The decor is beautiful, and the food is very good. The dessert was offered to me that day. It was late when we came, it was my birthday, but they served us anyway. The waitress was great!

we had a great experience at plumpjack restaurant. we didnt try the cafe. food sucks at squawe and plumpjack is far above everything else. good service, food (my lamb shamk was delicious, as well as the deserts, and they were super nice with my son), and wines. really a pleasant experience after eating junk in the resort.

Jason rocks (our sommelier, who even helped serve us). Kena our server provided excellent service, allowing us to taste our beer before ordering to ensure that we liked it. Food was delicious.

If you like gourmet food this is the place! We’ve been here a couple times and everything is beyond delicious. Every single item is prepared to perfection, honestly can’t say enough good things about this place! Expect to engorge yourself because it’s hard to stop at the entree.

This place has the most amazing wings I have ever tried i my life. They have the perfect combination of crispiness and flavor that just melts in your mouth. I love this place and will continue coming here for eternity just for the amazing wings.

We arrived in the middle of a storm and I have to say the service the staff and the food were all very very good. Surprised at some of the other reviews that I'm reading here, Our experience was really good.

Make RSVP early. But grab any open spot in the bar. Menu is the same dining room to bar. Very relaxed versus all the other places.

Delicious food, a great wine list and outstanding service.. After decades, Plumpjack still remains one of the finest high end North Tahoe restaurants.

Charming location and view from our table of the lovely garden! Excellent service by Garett who was professional and so friendly. The food was so fresh and tasty! We enjoyed so much the Branzino and the board with gorgeous cheeses, fig jam, honey and crackers. The hand made ice cream for the dessert was a must! The wines list is phenomenal with wines around the world and we appreciate also the selection of Plumpjack wines ( Cade, Odette etc…) We tried many restaurants in this area .. thus one is far away the best for the location, the food and the service. A diner to remember …A GEM🙏❤️

Blair, what a guy! Saturday, packed house, yet he made me feel like I was the only one at the bar. His quick whit and banter are second to none! My steak came out perfect and paired nicely with Blairs wine recommendation . 10/10 would recommend

Good food and good service after coming down from the mountain. What else do you want? Had the squash bisque and the Lamb chops. Both well done and yummy. With 12 people at our table, service was good and prompt. Food came out at the right times. When we needed to add a wine, the service was swift.

PlumpJack Cafe is one of the fancier restaurants in the Palisades Tahoe village. However, they are currently offering a very limited menu due to Covid 19 shortages and staffing issues. They features lovely mixed drinks along with a full wine selection. For the entree, they offer various meat dishes, which are decent, but nothing to write home about, and notably did not offer the dishes that my family had a craving for from a previous visit. It is noticeable that many restaurants in the village are understaffed, and this restaurant is no exception. Unfortunately, it seems like the choices and quality of dishes are also affected as a result.

I went to the resturant during summer of 2012. The drive up was not that bad the weather and the road condition was great with no traffic. The food and the service here was also great. As you can see in the picture, I was enjoying my sadwich out side with a drink.

Stopped in to PlumpJack for a drink at the bar after doing some shopping and taking a trip to the top. The atmosphere was nice, cozy and the service was good. I'll definitely be back to try some food next time!

Higher-end dining experience for the Squaw village. Also one of the only places serving food after 9 p.m. on a Sunday. We had great service and the food arrived promptly. Prices match the atmosphere.

Looked up online where to eat lunch at squaw valley with a view. Went to plump jacks and had to eat lunch in bar only. NO VIEW! Disappointed. View only for dinner seating.

Burger from what I know used to be amazing. Not sure if due to COVID but the burger is now completely different and not half as good...

I only went in for breakfast because it was within walking distance from Squaw Valley Lodge. I wasn't disappointed. They had a wedding party staying there, but was open to walk-ins. They offered a breakfast bar that was very good, but only one price. They wouldn't accommodate my friend who only wanted a bagel and a hot drink, although they gave other food service places she could walk to and she joined me. It was okay.

Probably the third time we've had dinner at PlumpJack - we eat in the bar all the time. Dinner is always expensive, but the food is generally pretty good, as it was this time (Cod Fritters were great, so was the Elk Rack). Surprisingly, the service was a mess on this visit. They attempted to serve our "main course" before we got our appetizers. They never cleared our pre-dinner drinks until after the meal. And they messed up the dessert order. They had a perfect opportunity to make some accommodations (e.g., comp the corkage fee or "appetizers on us tonight"), but no dice. Understood - its a business, and not a lot of competition in Squaw Village. Update on the day after: I noticed a separate charge on my credit card for 2X the cost of my meal from PlumpJack Cafe. Apparently, it is being reversed, so no need to dispute. Another data point for really sub-par service on this visit.

Médiocre and overpriced

Upscale greasy spoon eatery offers few healthy options, and has at least once deviously rounded up certain menu items on the final bill ($28 became $30, $32 became $34, 3 drinks x $7 came out to be greater than $21, etc). Our server was surprised told us that we were the first people to catch that mistake since re-opening. While the ambience is great and the service is genial, the cheese and butter are ubiquitous throughout the menu, even on seemingly dairy-free fare. Salads, sometimes consisting of a meager three leaves of romaine with a dusting of Parmesan, are too small to be entrees, despite being priced similarly. The morning breakfast spread, while beautifully presented, offers few healthy options. Sadly, the homemade granola is baked in butter. This historical site owes its customers honesty, when it comes to prices and offering healthier choices.

The burger looks good on paper until it arrives. It is rubbery, the "garlic fries" are obviously fried frozen...they come out lukewarm and have no flavor. I asked for the bacon well done and it was almost raw. Our waitress was as cold as the fries! If you can go somewhere else, ANYWHERE else, do so!

Michelle Warren Lesondak

Overpriced & small portions. The food is good, equivalent to good food that you’re able to get at most restaurants. With 6 orders and several appetizers selected, nothing was impressive or stand out. The $30 meat & cheese appetizer had equivalent meats to spam & packaged deli meat. Had to ask for more soup as the woman who had served the bisque at the table has just covered the bottom of a bowl, leaving the rim of the spoon uncovered. We all laughed because we though it was a joke. Service was fine - the food is incredibly over priced for the amount, and many choices are lacking in impressiveness.

So-so food at premium prices. Good service except that no one did anything about the dog that was yapping nearby non-stop. I'm a dog lover, but really... Nice setting, but hard to enjoy with Yappy Dog. If you want to spend this kind money on food, there are much better places in the area.

Bummer that they are not on top of updating their hours or website. We love the food, but hard to make the trip several times and be let down. Third time this fall attempting to visit...closed now until Dec 4th supposedly.

I was at Plumpjack on Saturday night around 7:30 and the restaurant was fairly full. Having been to Plumbjack many times over the years, I was generally a happy customer. However, I have now had these experience the last two times I have visited the restaurant and will not go back. The food was good as usual, however, the problem arose in that it took over an hour from ordering the food to it getting to our table from the kitchen and we were in the bar. Like most restaurants, one needs to stagger the seating if you don't the floor or kitchen staff to deliver a good experience. The floor manager apologized to the best of his ability and did all he could but helping out a bit on the bill but frankly this is the not the experience one would expect from this restaurant or any restaurant for that matter. Having been open for many years at this location and knowing the occupancy of the hotel and the events at Squaw Valley, the restaurant should have been better prepared. As a consumer just be prepared to be very patient if going to Plumbjack at a busy time for the restaurant.

This place honestly doesn’t deserve any stars the staff were rude and couldn’t tell us what happened to our food nor what the managers name was, our waitress just sat there and peeked at us around the corner without saying a word. We waited over 2 hrs for our food then once we went to leave they finally told us they were sorry that our food was ready, but there were people around us with even bigger groups that got there way later than us and got there food before we did and not just one group but over five . It’s just the disrespect of not telling us why our food wasn’t out yet and not even checking on us. I can not speak for the food but it was expensive and service was horrible.

quality fell off big time, prices still top tier. ate there last night, thoroughly disappointed. If traveling to Tahoe and excited to come here because you remember how great it was, don’t bother.

I’m an indian. I was served after a lapse of 1.5 hours. Then they told me that I could have the childten’s Menu for the pasta was not available anymore. The other waiter told me that it was. I called the police on them. The place has very bad service and equally bad food.
