We visited the restaurant on Christmas Eve. The atmosphere was wonderful as well as the food. The waiter was welcoming and friendly. Spoke good English and was patient to explain and answer all our questions. One of us is vegetarian and found enough choices. We were positively surprised with the bill total. If you are visiting Lago d'orta it's warmly recommended. BTW, if you're dessert lovers ask if Tiramisu is available though it might not be in the menu. It's worth every bite and calorie.
Fantastic View, service as well - Ross was nice and funny. Our group felt welcomed and with long lasting impression. The ribs, Cob and Spaghetti were delicious.

Ca dal Rat has been our favourite restaurant for years on Lago di Orta. Regular visitors from Switzerland, this is the place not to miss if you stay in the area. Delicious fresh plates, starters, spaghetti vongole, pasta, fish, deserts are all to die for. The friendly accomodating staff that has been there for years is always ther to give you the best experience. Grazzie Mile.

Beautiful place, attended for a wedding. Right on the lake we arrived by boat but wlthere is a small carpark area direct to the road. Great atmosphere here and truly stunning views.

Really nice place next to the lake, and it's really good if there's place outside..inside nothing special.. But they charge you anyway 4€ for the "seat"..We were two people and had to wait a little bit too long for every meal. cousine is good and with a little bit of research. Overall cost anyway higher than expected..not best quality /price ratio. Give it a shot, if there is place out ;)
Very nice location but not very refined (perhaps there has been a change of chef recently?): • view: very nice, alone by the lake • starters: really basic, not premium ingredients • first course: basic pasta and gnocchi. Heavy dishes • wine: not refined • service : friendly team • prices : (very) expensive for what we eat There are much better options in the area
The most disappointing meal I’ve had in Italy. It’s mediocre food for an extraordinary price. The pasta had no sauce — it was just a pile of dry squid ink noodles with a few shrimp, for €18. I noticed my wine glass (as a tourist) was filled half as much as the locals’ were. It gets two stars for the view. Save your money and go elsewhere!
We had booked a table for dinner the evening of our arrival in Orta and received a confirmation email. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed. We never received an apology.
We arrived for lunch because the maps said they were open. But the maps proved to be inaccurate. Please update your maps and stop wasting people’s time.
