Avis sur Oscar's Cafe & Bar Palm Springs
Oscars is a must! Mario was our server and he took such good care of us. We actually forgot my bag and he hurried out to hand it to us before our uber arrived. Will definitely be coming back! Great show! Michael Silas was 10/10
Very happy with the Ambiance and consideration. But still think VIP passes should be allowed in/out or no-waiting cocktail lines.
Honestly, the food was alright but I'd totally go again for their drag brunch. Amazing talent and friendly staff!
Oscar's on Sunday Funday is an absolute treasure. People on the street hear the joy and come in to enjoy. If your life is not hopping at the moment, stop in to kick it up. You will not be sorry!
We've gone a couple times to The Bitchiest Brunch, which we just adore! The first time we went we were seated furthest from the stage which is in an outdoor plaza. (which was perfect for our first time since we were just coming off of COVID) We assumed these were the bad seats, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the drag queens made it around to every person during every song! The ladies went all out to dazzle us with their hair, makeup, costumes and dance moves. We clapped and sang along - so much fun! We've gone back for brunch with family and friends visiting out of town, and it really is a hoot. The crowd is always eclectic, with bachelorette parties, locals, families, straight and gay couples - you're all friends by the end of the show. We made sure to get lots of $1 bills and tipped each performer twice during their songs. Now that the heat of summer is upon us, we will be going to a night time drag show to avoid the heat.
I had the BEST TIME EVER. The bitchy brunch was inclusive, hilarious and enjoyable, the performers were top notch, the food was fantastic, the MC/performer was an equal opportunity jokester, the performers were just beautiful, talented and I’m certain quality human beings. I went up after the show to thank them for making the past few hours so enjoyable I forgot about the horrible things going on in our world even if it was for just a short time. Side note, I’m a 62 year old white woman and registered Republican, who was smart enough not to make the same mistake twice. I don’t care who you love as long as you’re happy and yes! There is no LGB without the “T”. I would go again, everyone there seemed to be having a great time.
Really fun place. Drinks and drink service was great during a drag show. Somehow we got upgraded from balcony to seats downstairs which presented a great view of the stage. We greatly appreciate that. We will definitely go back there. The Oscar's stage during Pride was great too. Thanks to the small business owner and his personal greeting and humor.
Oscar's brings great gay entertainment to Palm Springs. Unfortunately, they don't offer much in the way of dining options.
I went for Sunday 11am brunch. It was dead, only 4 people inside. So the lady on the street said no charge. But when I got my ticket, $10 charge added. Show was good. Food was avg. I did not like my banana fosters. Queens were great and do a great show! The room is also really dark. Open a window or something.
This was, without question, the worst drag brunch I’ve ever experienced. The food was horrific—guac with a sticker from the avocado, soggy French toast, and pancakes burnt to a crisp. Service was slow and indifferent; management clearly doesn’t care about food quality or customer experience. They just shrugged when told about the food issues. Very expensive given all of the above. As for the show? Completely uninspired and disorganized, with none of the charisma or energy you’d expect from a drag performance. Save your money and go somewhere that values both their guests and their craft—this place is a disaster. Update: We have spoken with the owner and he was extremely professional; we were able to come to a resolution. This is ‘good business,’ and we are willing to give it another go upon our return to Palm Springs.
What a disappointing and horribly expensive experience; tickets for 4 people to the Sunday drag brunch were $259!!! This included NOTHING, but admission to the premises; the food was cafeteria food at best. the food/drink bill for 4 people was over $250, and this was alcohol for only 3 of 4 guests! So the experience was over $500 for less than a 2 hour event. The drag queens were competent, and the Prince lookalike was talented, but definitely not worth the price!
Short version: They sat us and several others at tables in the full sun, it was 95 degrees out and did not provide shade. After waiting about 30 minutes for umbrellas they said they’d bring out but never did, we left. I saw one other table also walk out because they were treated the same. Oscar’s was totally unprepared to host their event on Sunday May 25. It was like their first day hosting and half the staff and umbrellas didn’t show up. Total mess. What happened: We planned to attend the 1 PM drag brunch. Their tickets said get there early, like an hour before the show. We got there about 30 minutes early and there was a long line that moved very slowly. It’s like they were re-inventing the wheel to find seats for everyone. They sat us at a table fully out in the sun, not shade, no umbrella. The hostess said something like “they’d work on getting an umbrella” out there. We waited like 5 minutes in the blazing sun, it’s 95 degrees, we are burning up, so we went to stand by the shade of the building. Several other tables who they sat in the sun are also moved to stand around in random shaded spots near the building. The waiters were running around frantically (they seemed understaffed) and were basically ignoring us. The hostess was super busy trying to seat the remaining people. The show had started and not an extra umbrella in sight. Being hot, hungry, and totally ignored, we decided to cut our losses and walk out. We looked for a manager who was not running around but we decided not to try and stop the staff in the middle of their running and make a scene while the show was going on. Final thoughts: I really don’t understand how they were so unprepared on that Sunday. Every other restaurant in Palm Springs has lots of shade and misters on their patios but not Oscar’s. They were really unprepared and unable to host that day’s brunch. We’ve emailed for a refund but have not received a response. I think they oversold their show. I really wish they would have just stopped selling tickets when they ran out of capacity rather than try to seat many people in the direct sun. At least me and my boyfriend could walk out. There were a few bachelorette parties where like 2 or 3 people in a large group had to sit in the blazing sun while the rest were under shade. It’s hard to enjoy a mimosa when you’re sweating your butt off and getting a sunburn.
The good: the Saturday hostess was FABULOUS, endearing, vulnerable, and so funny! The bad (the rest of this review): we made a drag brunch reservation for 11am many weeks in advance. Days before, we were told we had to move to the 1pm seating because it had been overbooked. This should have been a clue to us about how poorly-run this place is, but we were offered a free round of (well) drinks to make up for it. We showed up at 1pm for our new reservation and no one was let in until 1:35. When one employee opened the gate to let another employee in, we had to ask what on earth was going on… Not an apology. Not an explanation. You expect late drag queens (the queens themselves started the 2pm show promptly, actually), but the establishment should have it together. Our waitress was very nice, but it took an hour for the table to get water, and one half of the table got their drinks 20 minutes before the other half. That free round of drinks? We had to ask about it to make it happen. The food was not very good. I’ve included a photo of the egg that came with the bagel and lox. Green eggs should only be a thing in Dr. Seuss books. Nevermind the 3 sad, soggy pieces of bacon for which they charge 5 dollars. Another person got a side of sausage that looked like some shriveled animal droppings we saw on a hike earlier in the day. The worst part is that you pay 49 bucks a person just to get in the door. The queens deserve better than this place as it currently is. It’s sad, because this could have been good. For now, sashay away.
