Went on Sunday to try their Prime Rib Dinner menu. Service was outstanding and just being at Alexander's feels elegant. Ordered the Prime Rib special served only on Sunday with a half bottle of Pride Mountain Cabernet. The prime rib melted in my mouth. It was so tender. Dipped in horseradish and au jus was the perfect accent. The brocolinni was a bit salty and some were tough, but charred perfectly. The Caesars salad was very good. Alexander's is a perfect place to bring your loved one.
I’ve been recommending this place for years, and honestly, it’s still my top pick for a steak dinner. The atmosphere, service, and quality never disappoint. We tried the BONE-IN RIBEYE (28oz) and it was perfectly cooked!juicy, tender, and the F1 Wagyu fat was super smooth without being greasy. The Miyazaki Wagyu is insanely soft and flavorful, even if you’re not usually into Wagyu. The bone marrow on toast,Absolutely delicious. The Popcorn Crab was fresh and meaty, slightly spicy, and the Black Cod was rich but still light. Even the bread with the three kinds of butter was a little highlight. Overall, classic spot, can’t go wrong here!
This was my first time actually spending this much on a meal on myself, EVER! AND I WOULDN'T HAVE CHOSEN ANY OTHER HIGH-END LUXURY RESTAURANT TO HAVE EXPERIENCED. I APPRECIATE THE SERVICE, THE AMAZING STEAK AND THE ENVIRONMENT THEY HAVE FOR THE CUSTOMERS. I WILL AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO EXPERIENCE THIS STRAK HOUSE.
Among the many steakhouses in Los Angeles, Alexander’s Steakhouse has always stood out with its distinct identity—and it’s my personal favorite. From the ambiance to the service to the dishes themselves, everything is impeccable. It’s exactly how I imagine an old-school romantic date night would feel. Nestled right next to Pasadena City Hall, the atmosphere is elegant and refined, with a dining experience that feels like a ceremony. I truly felt like I had stepped into a classic film as the leading lady. While it’s a traditional upscale American steakhouse, the menu pleasantly surprises with refined Japanese influences. Here are a few unforgettable dishes from that evening: Uni Toast This was so good I’m seriously considering coming back just to take two orders to-go for lunch. Easily one of the top uni toasts I’ve ever had. Uni + wagyu is a winning combo, but the real star was the toast—layered, rich, and full of umami. Beef Tartare A literal work of art. Stunning presentation, and the taste? A solid 10/10. Kobe Wagyu The highlight of the night. No words needed for the satisfaction that comes from perfectly marbled Kobe beef. The six types of finishing salts were such a thoughtful touch. Maine Lobster Tender Boston lobster paired with a yuzu butter sauce—perfectly balanced and refreshing. Beyond the food, the cocktails we ordered—Make You Look and Blood & Flowers—were absolutely gorgeous (almost too pretty to drink). Even the complimentary bread was served with three kinds of butter, and we were surprised with handmade marshmallows at the end. Every single detail met the high standards of fine dining. Whether it’s a first date, anniversary, or birthday dinner, this place never disappoints.
I don't usually write reviews, but Alexander's Steakhouse inspired me! French accent server was so kind and not pushy at all. Everything we ordered he supported us without pressure to order more. We were there for my husband's bday and they made it special with a bday card, cheesecake dessert, and champagne! Our bone in ribeye was perfect! Everything was delicious. Service was perfect! It was our first time there and so glad we tried it! How can you go wrong with cotton candy! Yes please! We will be thinking of more occasions to come again!
Fine dining at its best. Great steaks, sides & and expansive drinks menu.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the greatest dining experience I have ever had. Everything was absolutely perfect. Immaculate service and gorgeous interior. The food was out of this world too, stunning and delicious. The A5 miyazaki wagyu steak was the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. I got the omakase, and it was super worth it. This one dining experience makes up for a year’s worth of eating out. If you have the privilege of dining here you will not be disappointed, and will remember it for the rest of your life.
What a phenomenal experience! Across the board everything was excellent. The best service you will ever come across. Extremely professional, kind, and knowledgeable. The food was out of this world. We were first brought complimentary fresh bread and butter, an amuse-bouche, and champagne. We ordered the Mac and cheese along with the ribeye. While we did order the Australian Wagyu ribeye, we were brought the normal ribeye. We didn’t know until we received the bill. The normal ribeye was so amazing I have nothing to complain about! Incredibly juicy with every bite, perfectly cooked to medium rare, and had a great crust and flavor. We finished with the crème brûlée which was a bit too coffee flavored for us. They also bring everyone chocolate and strawberry gummy drops and cotton candy which was a strange but welcomed twist! All around, this restaurant has THE BEST steak I’ve ever had. We will be back!
Came here for our 5 year anniversary a day after valentines day. They still celebrated the valentines holiday which was nice. I booked reservations a month advance and only early dinners reservations were available before 6pm or after 8pm. Just goes to show you how good and popular this place is. Ive always heard good things from the one in the bayarea so wanted to take the wife here Everything from the hostess, the service, the waiter, food runners and such were magnificent. Fabian our waiter, sorry if i mispelled his name, was fantastic. Alexanders were giving out roses to each customer + they gave us a congratulations card for our anniversary Now on to the food, We ordered cavier, never had it, but wifey wanted to try. It was very delicious with options to add what you want on the blinis Chef have us 2 samplings of a cucumber pickle with gochuhang and black garlic emulsion. Was good but not my cup of tea The 3 types of bread and the 3 butters were delicious I forgot the names of it all but it was sort of a bone marrow honey, sea salt european butter and a semi cheese one. The honey butter was delicious and so was all 3 breads Wife got filet mignon and ingot the australian wagyu filet mignon. Both had chive butter ontop and i ordered a side of peppercorn sauce. Wife rarely likes peppercorn but she loved this one. I agree. The steaks were very tasty and cooked to perfection. I got mines medium rare n wife got medium. We had a side of the mash potatoes Which was pretty standard but still delicious We ordered soufle apple and creme brulee Both were sweet but not overly sugary They gave us complimentary strawberry cotton candy, cheesecake with blueberry compote and bon bons fark chocolate with side of fruit tarts Wifey loved the dining experience and the flavor of the food. Nothing felt similar in terms of flavor profile and the staff definetly made the wife feel special. Would come back even if its not a special ocassion
By far one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. The food was to die for but the service was beyond impeccable. We didn’t want for a thing! From the amuse bouche to the dessert and after dinner drinks, this far exceeded our last minute reservation expectations.
Have a dinner to celebrate my parents in law anniversary and birthday. They prepared some special treatments for them. 🥳 Service staffs are well-knowledgeable and friendly. Food is great for sure. 讚岐 wagyu is tasty. Overall, it’s a nice restaurant. :D
Definitely enjoyed my experience at Alexander’s. Steaks were juicy and flavorful alongside with their delicious sides. Service was exceptional, our server made sure our glasses were never empty and our plates were cleared in a timely manner and his recommendations were all spot on.
Ryan Goldfarb, thank you so much for the impeccable service, great food, drinks, and the complimentary cotton candies. It was a great wonderful surprise. Your attention to little details of the party such as: personalized food and drinks menu is greatly appreciated. The staff is super attentive and accommodating. Hats off to you and your team at Alexander’s Steakhouse. You have made our event more meaningful and enjoyable. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the event immensely. Again, thank you so much. It could not have been more perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My insurance wholesale broker was flying in from TX and wanted to take a handful of our producers and staff to dinner. I choose Alexander's Steakhouse. My brokers were impressed, happy, and we had a great time and experience. Venue: Their restaurant can host private parties, of 10 or more, in multiple rooms. Perfect for a business meeting or special event. Wine: A sommelier is always available to make wine recommendations. Funny thing, when my coworker asked for a white wine to start and some red later with her dinner, the sommelier snubbed something like, "well, if thats what you wish." Haha. For me, I'll stick with a medium bodied cab throughout the evening. Food: I appreciate that there were lots of on-the-house little h'ordouvres before, during, after atarts, entrees and desserts. The steak was perfectly cooked.
FANTASTIC food, SUPERLATIVE service, and alluring atmosphere! My smoking hot wife and I LOVED the beet salad, black cod, and the chocolate souffle. The amusement bousch and the caramel apple were also terrific! The surprise cotton candy was a nice touch as well! :) Service was timely, friendly, and 100% on-point! We went on a Tuesday night around 5:15 and had the place to ourselves until almost 6pm, when EVERYONE rolled in! :) We WILL eat here again! :)
What a great place. I was in town for a wedding and the dinner was at Alexander’s. Incredible food but the service Frederic and his team gave was next level. So attentive, kind and made sure everyone was taken care of. If I lived within 200 miles of this place I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to have a special dinner here. Thank you for all the servers and employees that made this wedding dinner a special experience.
Impeccable service and a highly refined dining experience. From a warm welcome and thoughtful seating to wine tasting guidance and attentive handling of personal details, every interaction felt precise and intentional. The cuisine matched the service level — beautifully presented fish, outstanding mushrooms, and an exceptionally prepared duck. A restaurant that clearly understands true luxury.
Celebrating my wife's birthday party with about 13 guests. Sean was absolutely perfect in his roll of walking me through the set up and helping me with any last minute changes. I felt like I was able to be present during the party. Tim was our lead server and the attention given to our guests, by both he and his assisting staff was flawless. The unique dishes and drinks had an amazing presentation. It became a grand cuisine tasting experience from start to finish. I left Alexander's in a state of amazed fulfillment of food and friends. Thank you to everyone at Alexander's that helped make this such a memorable night for all of us.

One of the most popular fine dinning in Southern California! I had their tasting menu last time but tried almost everything in their menu this time… besides their steaks & rib eyes.. they also have Wagyu beef from Japan to Australia… also some interesting Asian dishes like lobster ramen and Mediterranean dishes like octopus… excellent selection of fine wine & cocktails…

Although I've heard great things about this place, we ended up having a mixed experience here. I also graded this 4 stars although it's closer to 3.5 because of the prices. We started off with a bread Service and a selection of butter. Wow was it good. Each bread and better has a unique flavor and texture, it was great to try them all in different combinations. Also a tip, you CAN ask for more if you like. Next was the Wedge Salad. It had a really great herby and fresh flavor to it that I've never had before. At first I didn't like it but I found myself loving it more and more as I fished the plate. Mains are next we had two different steaks, a New York strip and Australian Rib Eye, plus a lobster tail. The New York Strip was really good. Cooked very nicely and had good flavor. The Australian Ribeye, which is a 28oz F1 Wagyu steak, was a bit over and came to me lower then room temp. Now, have to say the flavor and texture of the steak was AMAZING. You could really tell the quality of the meat through the taste and texture. It was actually fun to go back and forth between the New York and Wagyu because both were really good, but the level of taste and quality from the Wagyu was very noticeable. It really was a shame that it came out the way it did and I'll chalk it up to just staying out to long in the kitchen. Finally the Lobster Tail was ok too. Nothing to point out here, just a standard Lobster Tail. For sides, first we had Mashed Potatoes. They were SO smooth and creamy with a nice flavor. Second we had the Mac-N-Cheese, which we did not like at all. Idk if it's supposed to taste like this, but it was as if someone dumped 3 packs of Velvita cheese mix into it. It was too thick, and too cheddary... To the point that I could not eat it. It really just tasted like I was biting into a melted block of cheese. And normally that's not a bad thing... But the cheese itself really didn't have a nice or interesting flavor other than just CHEDDAR. Finally for dessert, we had the Apple of my eye Creme Brulee. It tasted like a thick creme brulee with some apples on top. It was fine. The miso ice cream it came with though was awesome. Overall, I had ups and downs here. I'd be willing to come back to give it another chance since I've always heard people having great experience. Maybe it was just an off night, but at this price point, it's hard to expect anything other than perfection.
Probably the best steak selection in the LA area at shockingly high prices. There are multiple cuts of steak available from three regions: Japanese Waygu, Australian grass fed beef, and American beef. The Waygu cuts start at $135... for 3 ounces. One of the Waygu steaks for two was priced at nearly $600. My wife and I chose an Australian 6 ounce filet ($103 with Peppercorn sauce). And it was delicious. If you're ordering steak, expect to pay at least $200 per person for the entire meal. Parking underground is validated.

Despite the glowing reviews Alexandra Steakhouse has received from many, including top critics, my experience felt more lukewarm. I initially tried to book a table online without success but managed to reserve one for seven over the phone. A word of caution for outdoor diners: there was an off-putting smell outside, perhaps due to some nearby misfortune. Located in old Pasadena, near the city hall, it's a picturesque spot. The sight of couples in wedding attire added charm. Parking in the basement was convenient, although the validation process later had its flaws. Our private room had a unique, almost square table - an odd choice. Service was commendable, albeit with a few hiccups. The Hamachi Shots stood out, even though they oddly lacked the actual yellowtail fish. The octopus, potentially sous-vide, was an experiment gone too salty. The prawns had flavor, but their size possibly contributed to their toughness. The oysters were unremarkable. The Dungeness Crab Tempura was a misnomer, feeling more fusion than tempura. The crab, notably, didn't taste fresh, overshadowing the dish. The Bone Marrow was a pleasant surprise with its creamy texture and crispy crostini. The Fried Rice, unusual for a steakhouse, was surprisingly good. The flying fish roe was an inventive touch. The main attraction, the steaks, however, were a significant disappointment. They were not just overly salted, but more critically, they lacked tenderness, a fundamental expectation for a steakhouse. The steaks didn't seem to be cooked to our specifications and disappointingly, they also lacked the aromatic allure of aged beef. An unusual addition of green onion on the steaks hinted at Taiwanese influence. Our wine experience was a redeeming factor. Priced fairly and with the waiter showing expertise, especially with an older bottle. On departure, despite our parking ticket being handed for validation, we were still charged - an unfortunate end to the evening. In summary: Alexandra Steakhouse has its moments but lacked consistency in our experience. It's a 3 out of 5 for me, hoping for more refined experiences in future visits.
Very disappointed with the steak and that's what we went there for. We paid almost $400 for just the 3 of us and only two ordered meat. The other dishes were ok but the steaks... oh and the bone marrow, you won't even be able to taste the actual marrow because of the amount of toppings it has. It's like chimchuri served on a bone. Would rather go to Malbec, Ruth's, Royce or Arroyo Chop house for steak in Pasadena.
