Before we even entered the door there were amazing smells wafting down the street. The atmosphere is warm and the music they play is very soothing. Aesthetic inside is a cool, jazzy, and calming spot (joint). Also the owner is super friendly and works right along side his employees; you can just tell he is a people person. The food itself is a can't miss and explains why there are double digits worth of people here even during an off-hour. We'll be back for sure!
A co-worker recommended Perry's and I'll just say I was not at all attract it was smoke tonight before you see the barbecue sauce that I got inside so I can do my own control dip the meat was the French roll with soft customer service excellence and the atmosphere great is even outdoor the smell when you walk in that's when you know it's good when you see him up before you get in sour definitely definitely definitely recommend Perris
Went to lunch with my family. Three different sandwiches all top notch. Staff was friendly and made us immediately feel welcome. Indoor seating is limited and on street parking is hit or miss. Wall decor is classic jazz heroes. I will surely be going back but probably for takeout.
The first time coming here, and I have to say it is phenomenal. Called to place an order for pick up and they were extremely kind on the phone. They had the food ready to go and was exactly how we ordered it. I ordered the Hey Joe! Which was a perfect blend of the pastrami and roast beef and spicy hot link. It was juicy, and delicious. The prices are good too. A huge sandwich and not a huge bill. First time going, and I will definitely keep coming back.
Visiting from Grand Rapids Michigan, THIS PLACE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! First off, the staff was so friendly, always smiling, so down to earth and engaging with enthusiasm, with each patron. I've never witnessed that in any establishment, EVER. When I travel, I love Visiting food establishments and taking photos and write a review. This place just blew my mind. The portions are over abundant, the flavors are impeccable, you can choose any food item and be overly satisfied. The moment you enter Perry's it's a positive game changer. It felt like home. Thank you Perry's staff for setting the bar so high for other food establishments, I will never forget this amazing experience.
"Some say that angels come down from heaven to eat here because it surpasses heaven's cafeteria." -Matthew Jackson 2025 Any food guide saying this spot is anywhere outside of the top 3 is getting paid heavily to say so cuz their consistency, balance, flavor, and swag is hands down the best! You will have a heavy feeling of guilt for life if you say this spot is not even top 10 in California.
Fire fire fire!!!🔥🔥🔥 It's the Bestest, freshest sandwich I've ever had in all my 56 years on this planet! Excellent prices for their quality food. The customer service is exceptional, and the jazz music with a cool cup of ice water while you wait for your order is top-notch!🤩 Very clean establishment with a melow chill vibe.😊 Lastly, thanks to the young man who took my order, you broke it down, and I am a customer 4Life!💥💥💥 Shot out to Around the Cycle Bike Store for the recommendation!
The food was fresh and hot. Customer service was A1 Mr Perry himself took our order. He was very pleasant would definitely go back.
These sandwiches are the best I’ve ever had from a restaurant! 10 out of 10
I'm a sandwich -a -holic and loved the Hip Bird on DARK SWEET WHEAT! Nice environment.Missed the sign though and drove past to McDonald's and had to turn around.
Highly recommend! Used to go to their SF location way back in the day, so thrilled to learn Perry’s Joint is in LA. Food is delicious, great vibe puts you in a relaxed mood, and the team are super kind. Perfect spot for a casual, delicious bite and easy street parking.
You can get a Chicago dog here, but optionally swap in a turkey dog for a healthy option, or with a hot link to create a wild hybrid. They have malts too, so you can get the ultimate nostalgic lunch.
This place was amazing the sandwiches are incredible. The Jazz atmosphere is very cool. Will definitely be back there again.
This is my go-to place whenever I'm able to work from home. Excellent sandwiches, incredible hot dogs, and friendly community focused owners. I highly recommend the Chicken Mingus on the dark sweet wheat. So good!
An absolute gem of a deli! We knew this place was special immediately when we opened the front door. The aroma of the room is filled with grill char, seasoning and a warmth you find in a kitchen. Our eyes grew as we gazed at the menu, with a robust assortment of deli sandwiches, hotdogs and other offerings. There's a jazz and music theme to the menu for those of you that are fans. We ordered a tuna sandwich, the tri tip sandwich, pastrami sandwich and the Hey Joe. The Hey Joe was filled with roast beef, pastrami and hot link, with cheese, roasted onions, pepperoncini, mustard & mayo. I ordered the Hey Joe on sourdough bread and it was awesome. It's a lot, messy, but it leaves you anxious for the next bite as you're enjoying the sandwich. Incredible experience. We happened to be visiting the area and stumbled on Perry's Joint from a Google search for best lunch in Alta Dena. Google was right! I might make the drive up here again, just to try a different a sandwich. Highly recommend.
Most EPIC pastrami sandwiches we’ve had. The wife & I ordered the Guru and Hey Joe. Mind blowing first bite. Super juicy and savory bites all the way through. Didn’t want to stop eating. Can’t wait to come back and try all the other sandwiches. Super friendly staff were real helpful with advice & guidance with the menu options. Some gorgeous classic jazz playing in the background. Loving everything about Perry’s Joint. An instant classic.
Love love love this place. Everything I've ever gotten has been amazing. The chicken salad sandwich is always my go-to. It's definitely a must if you're in Pasadena.
Warm and welcoming staff, De-Lish-Us food!!! Their Guru sandwich is one of my top favorites with Turkey, & Pastrami - But when they have their Tri Tip Special it is irresistible! Always great Jazz playing, happy people & amazing food! Patio seating or inside tables with great art & music. You will love this joint!
I recommend the 'hey joe'... filled with hot roast beef, pastrami, and spicy hot links, along with peppers, onion, cheese, mayo, and mustard on a French roll. Take a bite, relax, and enjoy the non-conformist musical stylings of Miles Davis, thelonious monk, rollins, and Coltrane while you savor the symphony of flavors this joint is capable of delivering. The staff welcomed me the moment I walked through the door. Very friendly and attentive. Jazz music was playing in the background. I ordered the Hip Max on sweet wheat, and man, was it GOOD! I'll definitely go back and try some of the other sandwiches, VERY soon!
This is my favorite restaurant in Pasadena thus far. I have been here twice in the past week and I’ve ordered two different hot dogs- all outstanding. Everything you order tastes and looks like quality cooking and fresh ingredients. My favorite thus far has been the Chicago dog. My boss eats here with me and likes the “Hey Joe!”. He has had it twice thus far and we’ll probably be eating here again real soon. Hope to become regulars.
Great sandwiches and hot dog. Great value for the price! My uncle enjoyed his chili dog a lot. My sandwich was good- I'm not a pickle guy, but their sandwich pickles are fresh and crispy.
One of the best sandwich places with a friendly service and tasty sandwiches! Tried the “Hey Joe” pastrami, roast beef n other goodies there that was so yummy! I highly recommend this place n will be back for more!!!
Wifey and I were traveling from Pismo to Riverside when we got hungry. We googled best pastrami sandwich "near me " We're VERY happy that Perry's Joint popped up. We both had the guru. My wife had it on a croissant, I had it on sourdough. I don't use the delicious very often. But, very accurate here! We also shared a scoop of cherry vanilla ice cream. Everyone here is courteous, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our lunch. Highly recommend, and will be back next time we're traveling thru
We googled best pastrami in Pasadena and this place popped up. We weren't disappointed. It's a bit hidden if you don't know the area. They are located on Lincoln Street and Montana is the nearest cross street. Montana street has good parking spots. The staff greeted us as we entered and were helpful with the menu. He reccomend the Guru, hot pastrami and turkey with all the fixings. Deliciousness. We also ordered nachos with jalapeños. It paired well with the Guru. We finished with a black cherry 🍒 🤪 ice cream scoop.
What a great sandwich shop. I got the Hey Joe and loved it. Highly recommend!
I’ve been living in Pasadena since 2011 and somehow never knew about Perry’s Joint… literally a few blocks away from me. That’s one thing that truly surprised me. The fact that it’s so hidden it’s not wonder it remained a total mystery for so long. I’m glad I finally found out, feel like a true local now. 99% of the sandwich places I’ve been I ask “hey do you have gluten free? Can you do a lettuce wrap?” And they go “uhhhh no sorry” …at Perry’s they said absolutely and made me the best lettuce wrap I’ve ever had. EVER. And that was just one sandwich on the menu, there are so many amazing things I can’t wait to try!
Holy moly this was an incredible find! The Guru sandwich was so tasty! It was hard to believe! Every piece of it tasted exceptional. The lemonade was also great. They were friendly, quick, and have lots of great options. Can’t wait to come back!
Love this place! If you are craving a good sandwich this is the place! The menu is small but delicious. The staff is always very courteous. A good place to visit and support local business.
OMG!!! This place IS incredible! Perry hits ALL notes! Cleanliness! Friendliness! Efficiency! Pleasant open atmosphere! And MOST of ALL the food was INCREDIBLE! Adorable jazz artists names etc but, looked mouthwatering, smelled mouthwatering, and then tasted was more of the same!!! ABSOLUTE sensory overload! I have been trying to get here since i read a blog on a site. Boy was this worth the drive from chino hills! I'll be BACK! And BACK! And BACK!
Food + service are always phenomenal and so consistent. Really great sandwiches, exceptionally friendly service! I’ve never walked out of Perry’s without a smile on my face after interacting with their employees.
Unbelievable value. Each sandwich ranges from $6-9. Quality ingredients. I'm particularly impressed with the chicken salad. There are many ways it can be made, one of which is rarely seen. This is the one, where the chicken is shredded such that the salad is consistent across the board and stays together like a hamburger patty. Slices of apple on top rather than in the salad is really ingenious.

That’s a proper sandwich! The roast beef itself is soft, juicy, beefy. The lettuce tastes fresh and crunchy. Just the right amount of raw purple onion. It’s prefect.

Best hot dogs ever. I have to say that I typically only eat one hot dog a year. I walked into Perry’s and decided that day was the day for a hot dog. Queue up the American hot dog, beef frankfurter with all the fixings. Top it off with a Root Beer Float! I never eat an entire hot dog but I definitely did at Perry’s. It was plump and juicy with just the right amount of onions, relish mustard and ketchup. It was so good I am probably going to go back next weekend for another one. They are that good. I’m getting another Root Beer Float too!! 😍
These sandwiches are straight GAS, high quality meats, fresh breads and awesome customer service. I will definitely be coming back. And if you want a recommendation, try the HEY JOE, it wont disappoint.
I'm glad I finally was able to stop by for lunch with my mom & neice. Delicious sandwiches made to our perfection. Hats off to Perry's Joint Deli. I give them a big 5 STARS 🌟 ON everything. 👌🏾🤘🏾😋
I had the Hip Bird on wheat. It was so fresh it practically metled in my mouth. Very delicous and generously sized. I definately recommend it and will return. The staff/owners welcome you. I enjoyed smooth jazz and relaxed.
My favorite sandwich joint in all of LA. They always have friendly and respectful staff, delicious and fresh tasting ingredients, and a menu that is inspired. The jazz they play daily is nice too.
Jazz music and great sandwiches go hand and hand. Man I love Dena. Will always be a loyal customer. BIG BAND ALL DAY

I really wanted to give them 5 stars because their food is amazing!!! But sadly, my order of 5 items was not met correctly when I specified leaving out certain toppings and the person on the phone even repeated it. I arrived to struggle with parking (not allowed to park in the lot right behind or you will be towed. So gotta find street parking! There is a beautiful mural right across from the building. There are lots of outdoor seating and other areas inside to sit and dine. Loved the jazz music playing. There was a long line (which validated even more how good this place is) and lots of hard working employees! The guy who helped me was not the same who took my order so I wonder if that contributed to specifics being left out. I had also requested a Perry’s Punch and Jalapeno chips and he would have forgotten that if I didn’t speak up (the owner remembered the chips). My friend tipped me off that Thursdays and Fridays they have a tri tip sandwich special *cue drooling* I ordered the Hey Joe and it was amazing. It was also my first time trying Squaw bread and I am super impressed with how sweet and delicious and soft it is!!!! Would definitely come back! I also want to try their ice cream. And sit inside to listen to jazz :0)

I drove all the way here and arrived at 11:30am and was told they’re closed until 12:30pm because they’re catering. They usually open at 11am. Was pretty frustrating. Why do they have to close the whole restaurant to cater? Couldn’t they handle their catering stuff before they opened or while they took care of regular customers? Just very confused and frustrated. The atmosphere looked nice. Not sure about the food because I didn’t get a chance to try it.
I just drove from the very far side of South Pasadena, almost in Alhambra all the way over to the location on Lincoln to get there when they opened. Hotter than you can imagine. Money on gas, time, traffic and everything else you can imagine only to get to the front door and find it locked. A handwritten sign on the front door that one could barely read saying that they’re going to open an hour and a half late, with people inside doing whatever it was that they were doing. What an absolute waste of time and everything else. I will never ever be back. Thanks for letting everybody know ahead of time. And… I was not the only one to be greatly disappointed.
I’ve called orders in. They say 15 minutes. I’ve even waited 35 just because I know they move really slow there even at that leaving 45 minutes later my food wasn’t even started let alone what happened to my drinks. The place gets full at certain times and everybody feels the same, just staring at each other. They don’t wanna be disrespectful to young people as we want to encourage young people, but there’s no pep in the step one Customer start to accumulate in this business. They should show that they’re working hard and put some pep in their step. One of the guys there that I come across seems to have an attitude when I’m explaining what I’m needing, he always cuts me off and says I got you. I’m thinking to myself. No you don’t got me a 59 years old. Let me speak for what I want because I am here because I like the place I go to the Pasadena place, which is impeccable point on never keeps you waiting the drinks already right away in fact, I’m enjoying them and looking at more things to purchase while waiting for my sandwiches. The Sierra Madre Pl. is too damn slow. It’s making my choices here at work when people say let’s go get sandwiches. We had to Subway because they have pep in their stuff you know when they got customers they work hard and you could see it that they’re trying to satisfy the Overwhelming people walking through the door But not here at Perry’s I feel like I’m waiting for them to have conversations while waiting for them to make my sandwich and there’s tons of people behind me and maybe two or three in front of me I know I’m gonna be there a good hour before I get my sandwich. It’s very upsetting. Then my drinks are never ready every time I’ve been in there. They don’t make the drinks. I’m waiting even longer for my drinks. That’s so frustrating. What they have to offer is a great product if they can just improve the service immediately get more people in there and someone in there that can oversee things less talking of the staff to each other and ignoring customers they’re just on a different timestamp. It’s so damn slow. It’s heartbreaking when you got great food but the worst service there’s no interaction with customers And I feel the girl that works. The cashier tries to do her job and come over and talk to them when they should be doing what they’re supposed to be doing to let them know and remind them of things the orders we’ve gotten there three times in a row have been wrong, but the guy keeps saying I got you before you’re finished telling him, that’s not great Customer Service at all how can we get this business to improve on that? They’re lucky there could be so many other things wrong but there’s not it’s just that is the hard truth. Great product horrible service. But we want to encourage our young and not discourage them if they could just be an adult to Direct to keep them focus unless talking to each other and more pep in the speed of the sandwiches as customers are coming in because of a great product making them wait forever for a sandwich makes the person behind them just so irritated and then people behind them know it’s gonna be almost an hour or more to get your sandwich Why is It so slow .. So we’ve been hitting Subway sandwich over off Rosemead and Foothill not as great as Perry’s, but you’ll be in and out of there in less than 10 minutes if not sooner
