Avis sur Ruben's Mexican Café Peekskill
Very friendly folks and delicious food, served up beautifully. The chicken quesadilla was declared "best ever" by my daughter and I agree. A special parrillada skillet was also excellent. Give it a try!
I have been going to Ruben’s for 20 years since it was across the street from its current WAY NICER location. I am now like “part of the family” with the staff that has been there. Ruben strives to please his customers and have live entertainment as often as possible. Last night I ordered jambalaya-never had it there (I’m a picky “safe” eater, don’t vary my menu much) and I loved it! A Margarita is my “go to” drink, never disappoints. If you like a fun, Latin vibe, dancing (weekend nights) and Mexican food this is the place.
Thank you Rubens for your hospitality as we listened to the lieutenant governor of New York State thank you for having it right in the heart of Peekskill. My compliments goes to the chef. There was an open buffet with amazing vegan food that I tried for the first time. A variety as well of delicious appetizers. I look forward to eating more healthier like this LOL great hospitality as well and their chicken wingettes was crisp and delicious❤️thank you❤️💯 Special Thanks goes to #TashaYoung #kwame leaders of New York Community for Change. The work she is doing behind the scenes is absolutely amazing! We truly value and appreciate the love she has for the people in the community. God bless you. She tuned me in about the meeting at Ruben's in Peekskill New York to meet the lieutenant governor and hear what he had to say.. I truly am happy I came. MY REVIEW✅ Lieutenant Governor Delgado comes through as a breath of fresh air for anyone tired of the usual political mumbo jumbo. He’s not just another suit behind a podium—this guy’s got roots in hip hop and law, plus a real family man vibe that’s relatable. What stood out in his hour-long talk was how he called out the nonsense of locking up citizens for non-criminal acts, calling it a form of kidnapping. That’s heavy because it’s about standing up for the people, not playing the political game. He’s all about making New York a place that stands for its people, especially the younger generation. Delgado’s take on the school system hits hard—he gets that it’s broken and wants to fix it for our kids, not just toss around empty promises. You can feel he’s speaking from a place of love for the community and a desire to uplift the honest folks. It’s not about color or politics; it’s about principles, unity, and fighting together for real change. If you’re looking for someone who makes sense with a street-smart, urban soul, he’s worth checking out more. In a world that often feels divided, his message is clear: Together we rise, divided we fall. That’s something everyone can vibe with and stand behind. ITSAMOVEMENTTV WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT 🙏🏾
Sat at the bar, had guacamole for an appetizer, and Birria Tacos for dinner everytthing was delicious. Alejandra was super nice and can make a mean skinny mezcal margarita. Only thing that wasn't good was that the heinekens were warm but we ask to them to put a few on ice and they did.
This is a best restaurant to go to in Peekskill every time I go to this restaurant I am treated with so much love ❤️ they give you the attention like it’s you alone in the restaurant. It is my favorite restaurant in Peekskill. ❤️, Mario is so friendly and professional. The Menu is worth a visit.
In the town for a show at the Paramount Hudson Valley and did dinner here afterward. There were nine of us so we had a wide selection of food and drink. They specialize in Mexican food but I had the jambalaya. It was excellent. A good destination for dinner after a show or dining on its own. If you are into Cajun, try their jambalaya. If not, plenty of food to choose from.
The food was tasty, fresh and everything came out quick. Chips and salsa tasted homemade. The beef and pork tacos and the chicken enchiladas were great, however I had a few pieces of bone from the chicken that I had to pick out We all got margaritas but noticed a bug in one of them and asked for our money back 🐜. The staff were quick to throw in 3 shots in return. I guess that’s even…
Are you looking for delicious authentic Mexican food and warm hospitality? Then stop in for a meal or drinks at Ruben's in Peekskill. Lovely spot, open to theatergoers too. The food is ample and flavorful. The staff is so pleasant and attentive. Four of us dined and all enjoyed their meals. The star entree was the Ribeye steak. Mouthwatering and a large steak for the hearty eater. Enjoy and bring your appetite!
Great atmosphere! The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. I felt like a guest at someone’s home rather than eating at a restaurant. Drinks were great and the food, dessert were incredible. There is a municipal parking lot around the corner street parking is tough to find.
Ruben’s is the best Mexican restaurant in the Peekskill / Cortlandt Manor area. The food is delicious. The portions are large. The drinks are excellent. And the service is great. They also sing happy birthday to you if you come to dine and celebrate! My favorite dish is the Al Pastor Burrito but everything on the menu is great.
Went out to eat for family night. The inside was awkward. Very dark. Uncomfortable sitting area. Wasn’t that busy. The server was nice. The food was very good but the person who made my drink I think put way too much alcohol or didn’t taste good at all. Had to stop drinking immediately and drink water after to feel better. I would go back but possibly go a different day, or sit outside.
Really nice spot. Stopped by one Friday afternoon around 3:30 for a quick bite. Service was prompt and the staff were lovely. They opened up the front shutters to let the light in and some fresh air. It was a nice afternoon in March, the weather was cool and the sun was out. The margarita was yummy and strong. The portions were huge. I would definitely return, perhaps for dinner.
I think the restaurant is going for an upscale, boujee cantina vibe. Not a fan, but that's irrelevant. This is a Mexican restaurant, I don't even think they used salt. The food was bland, not bad, just bland and close to tasteless. I had the (beef) chimichanga, as I said bland & tasteless. A small ice cream scoop of barely warm rice, another scoop of very loose (?), liquidy (?) refried beans also barely warm. You get salsa & chips, my husband said it was "sorta salsa, I got a piece of onion", I said it was taco sauce, very thin. But OK, maybe not all salsa is chunky. We ordered dessert! The menu said Cafe Con Leche. I have a question, were you just saying (American) coffee with milk or did you actually mean Cafe con Leche? Because it was regular coffee with milk, it was assuredly not Cafe con Leche. We ordered a slice of Tres Leches cake. Not my first piece of this. It should have been sitting in all its tasty juices, it wasn't. The cake should have been moist and soft, not firm and dry. It was ice cold, right out of the fridge and the center was still a tiny, bit frozen! Not nearly enough staff as the restaurant filled up. I was beginning to think that the only way we were going to order dessert to begin with was by tripping a waiter, any. One last thought, invest in some chairs. The rickety, loose, wobbly chairs were uncomfortable. We tried swapping them out, but all the chairs were like that.
