First time here and was pleasantly surprised. Food and service were great. I came with my husband and 2 young daughters. Food was reasonably priced. We ordered crab cakes, sushi, and catfish. Kids meals were reasonably priced although the kids pizza was $10 and I’m not sure why. Hubby loved the gumbo. I lived the “real” California roll. Our server was nice and food came out quickly. Nice environment. We definitely plan to return.
We stopped in for lunch and sat outside since it was a beautiful day. We were seated at a table by the water, we enjoyed the great view of the marina and bay. Our server Laura was excellent! My husband enjoyed a couple cold draft beers from local breweries. We both chose their famous “World Famous” Grits A Ya Ya and it did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and the shrimp was grilled perfectly! Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is now my favorite local restaurant for a nice meal. The food is high quality and cooked perfectly. The fried food tasted more like it was air-fried because there was no grease. All 3 dishes we chose were excellent and I will return as soon as I can. I had no heart burn nor was I thirsty after the meal. The view is great, too. The only negative at all was the volume can be a little loud for those that have trouble hearing in crowds. Ask for a table in the back room if that is you.
The elaborate seafood house sells a lot of oysters. They put on beautiful event. The fish in the tank movingly, sweetly charm. They provide a clean, peaceful atmosphere. The chef well prepares a very detailed seafood inside a flavorful dish even through the nice presentation. 🦞 🍤 🏠 🦪 🐟 🐠 🌽 🥖 🫕 🍽️
This was our first time at the restaurant, and we had a truly wonderful experience. We started with appetizers: Fried grouper bites, Fried green tomatoes, Soul rolls, and Smokey Alabama wings—all delicious, but the Alabama wings were a standout and the group favorite! For our entrees, we had the Gumbo, Shrimp and Grits a Ya Ya, Pecan-crusted catfish meunière, Sundried tomato alfredo, Barracks street burger, and Grilled salmon. Everything was amazing, but the Shrimp and Grits a Ya Ya was my absolutely favorite! I'm so glad I went with the waiter's recommendation. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was attentive and friendly for our group of six. This is definitely a place we'll be returning to in the future. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in Pensacola!
I have to say, Not only was the food absolutely delicious, the service was Top Notch. My son has a gluten allergy and a dairy allergy and when I called the restaurant earlier, the hostess answered the phone and assured me that although they did not have a gluten-free menu, they do serve many gluten-free items. I took my my son there for dinner, and our waitress Rane was very knowledgeable about what items were glued and dairy-free. She assured us that they deal with this all the time and that they are very careful in the kitchen, and she will personally tell the chef. After our order was placed, Deen, the manager of the restaurant came to our table and reassured us that they take allergies very seriously and that the chef uses new pans to cook the meals and switches the gloves often to avoid cross-contamination. That made us feel very comfortable, and we will definitely be back often. Thank you for the wonderful meal and the comforting experience.
Restaurant Review: The Fish House – Pensacola, FL Nestled along the waterfront in Pensacola, The Fish House offers a dining experience that perfectly blends fresh seafood with Southern charm. With its prime location overlooking the bay, the views alone make it a must-visit spot, especially at sunset. I opted for the Catfish and Grits, and it did not disappoint. The catfish was expertly fried—crispy on the outside while remaining tender and flaky inside. The grits were smooth, buttery, and packed with flavor, complementing the catfish beautifully. This dish was a standout, delivering a perfect balance of texture and taste. The Soul Rolls, however, were a bit underwhelming. While the concept was intriguing, the execution fell flat compared to the rest of the meal. The filling lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting, making them feel more like an afterthought rather than a signature appetizer. What truly elevated the experience was the service—attentive, friendly, and efficient, making sure every guest felt welcomed and well taken care of. Overall, The Fish House is a fantastic spot for a meal with a view, and while not every dish hit the mark, the highlights—like the Catfish and Grits—make it well worth a visit. If you’re in Pensacola and craving fresh seafood with Southern flair, this is a place you won’t want to miss.
I went for dinner tonight with my boyfriend to celebrate Valentine’s Day (very, very late). I’m from out of town, and it was my first time at Fish House. We made it just in time to catch happy hour! We are normally jack and coke people, but for happy hour they had $4 well whiskey (which was Kentucky Gentleman). I was pleasantly surprised at how good the drink was, the bar tender was so kind while we were waiting for our table. When we sat at our table, Kyler (glass and long hair) was so kind and patient in helping me choose the perfect dish! We got the tiger roll for an appetizer and it was the perfect amount of food right before dinner. We settled on the parm grouper. AND IT WAS AMAZING!! My boyfriend got the Mahi Mahi special and he really enjoyed it. We ended with the special strawberry shortcake. Everything was delicious, the view was amazing, and the service was incredible! I can’t wait to go back!!
If it’s good enough for Elton John, Mariah Carey and Gronk, it’s good enough for you! They seemed to have a lot of large parties and we hardly had to wait! We had an incredible dinner at The Fish House in Pensacola with a party of 8 and a baby, and I can confidently say their “world-famous grits” was the best meal I’ve had in my life—no exaggeration! Our server, Amelia C., was truly the best thing since sliced bread. She was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable about the menu, and made everyone feel right at home. She was also amazing with our one-year-old granddaughter, who adored her. Other dishes at the table included the salmon Oscar, red snapper, fried grouper bites, and a filet—everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. We joked about eating there for every meal for the rest of our trip because it was that good. Some of us tried the Fruit House Punch (served in a fun souvenir glass)—it was fruity and sweet, but not overly strong, which made it a great dinner drink. The white sangria was just okay by comparison. A few bonus highlights: • The women’s restroom was spotless, with private stalls—a thoughtful touch. • There’s a saltwater fish tank near the front, which kept our little one entertained. • The restaurant is set on the water with a dock out back—perfect for photos. • One minor thing: there are quite a few steps and uneven flooring, so maybe not ideal for a tired, tipsy sailor or anyone with mobility issues. Overall, we loved everything about our visit and will absolutely be back!
What a great find in Pensacola. On the water, excellent food, great service and cold drinks. I highly recommend their tequila old fashioned. A very unique mix and very tasty. We had the shrimp and grits and stuffed flounder. Both were outstanding and highly recommended. This is a definite restaurant to visit when you're in the area
What a great place. Right on the water, good atmosphere, good food and great service. Everything we ordered was delicious. Started with wings and fried green tomatoes.. WOW! For lunch we had was really good. We had the fried shrimp, fried oysters, and blackened tacos. All amazing. Topped things off with some Key Lime pie. Anthony was super helpful.
Beautiful view from our table! We started with the fried green tomatoes that came with so much crawfish. The black Cadillac margarita was delicious and fruity. For our mains, we got the shrimp and grits and crab cake sandwich. I know why they’ve sold a million of their grits! So cheesy! Personally, I found the sandwich okay but my partner loved it. The only let down was the key lime pie. It was ice cold and dense. With the naked lime and the neon green artificial syrup, it was off putting. I understand the need to prep ahead but it just seemed old and flat. We came for lunch and didn’t have any problems with parking. We’d love to come back but will be skipping the key lime pie.
It is one of the nicest restaurants to go in Pensacola. When we are in town, we always try to go. They daily specials that they have are great and at a fantastic prices. The atmosphere is beautiful with all the boats there. It is big, has a nice bar and the service is beyond good. I absolutely recommend it!
This evening, we had a delightful experience at The Pensacola Fish House. Our meal consisted of Ma's Hot Collard Green Dip, The Southern Pimento Cheese Board, Fish House Punch, and the Peach Tea cocktail. The collard dip was creamy, funky, well balanced and served with fresh pork rinds. The pimento cheese board was a little sweet due to the honey, but we enjoyed it. The service provided by Nick was outstanding, as he was both attentive and fun. We were seated at a waterfront table, which afforded us beautiful views of the bay, boats, and bridge. We will definitely be back.
Worth coming here for the Mahi Fish Tacos! Full of flavor, generous pieces of juicy blackened fish with slaw, grilled corn and pico. Topped with a jalapeño aioli with just the right heat. Friendly wait staff, lovely marina view. The side of marinaded cucumber salad did not have much flavor. My friend’s strawberry salad with grilled chicken was large and fresh.
My family and I came here for lunch today on 7/5. It was our first time here and to simply put it, it was an absolutely great experience. The food was delicious and we loved the atmosphere. I am a big fan of fish tacos and these were some of the best I've had and for being only 2 tacos it was enormous. The rest of my family really enjoyed their food too. The collard green dip which seems like a dip you really can't find anywhere else was really impressive. Paul was our server, he made excellent suggestions and made sure our drinks were full. We most certainly will be back.
Stayed till close the week of my birthday. Every meal we ordered was delicious. Stuffed flounder and Pecan crusted catfish were our favorites. The service was great. Enjoyed the oysters and the drinks! Had no room for the complimentary birthday dessert. I chose the Key Lime Pie. I ate it a few days later, and it was still yummy. I look forward to my next visit here.
We ventured here to sample some mighty fine vittles. Luckily we were seated in Nick’s section and were hooked up with some banging drink recommendations we may have otherwise missed. The collard green dip paired with hot crisp pork rinds was a revelation that we as mere patrons were luckily able to behold. Afterwards I pushed the table a bit away to fit my newfound girth and ordered the pimento cheese board. The cheese board was sticky sweet mess in the most grandiose of ways. Honey encompasses a thoughtfully prepared board with delightful and playful textures and flavors. Absolutely will rereturn here again and again.
When the Panhandle calls, The Fish House in Downtown Pensacola is always on our dinner list. The views alone feel like a postcard: a shimmering bay, sailboats docked in the marina and that golden hour light wrapping the whole scene in coastal magic. We opened with Oysters Rockefeller. Rich, perfectly baked and gone in seconds! A playful bonus? Adding the Fish House’s own house made hot sauce. Yes, you’ll want to take some home. For mains, I went with the Salmon Oscar; delicate, buttery, crowned with crab, mashed potatoes and asparagus. My husband opted for the weekly special: Swordfish Au Poivre; topped upon mashed potatoes, mushrooms and asparagus. Both dishes were the kind of memorable you talk about long after the last bite. Service was exceptional! Warm, attentive and just the right pace. And the weather? Perfect timing for an al fresco evening without the extreme humidity in the air. Seafood and sushi lovers, add this place to your must do list. The Fish House is an experience you’ll crave again and again.
The grits a ya ya were amazing: cheesy, creamy, a little blackening on the shrimp. So good. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, so flavorful. The key lime pie was top tier: smooth, thick, with a graham cracker crust and a toasted meringue. Service was great. Sitting outside by the bay with the sailboats was peaceful. 10/10 would recommend!
The service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere awesome, we along with another party were celebrating birthdays, the entire area of customers joined in singing happy birthday. The food was perfect. I had a ribeye steak, it was flavored and cooked perfectly. My other party members each enjoyed their choices. We actually returned the following day for a Togo order and received awesome service and food once more. We definitely added it to our top restaurant when we are in town again.
We have been Vacationing in Pensacola Beach 🏖️ area. We visited the huge restaurants on the Island-Founders & 🦀 Crabs. They were good. We needed another restaurant for our last night. We searched online for ideas. The Fish House stood out in our research. We decided to go visit The Fish House!! It was later dinner & they were busy. There’s a large porch though with plenty of waiting space. They have tons of outdoor seating. Huge patio spaces with cover & open air spaces. The marina is there. You are overlooking the Bay when seating outside. We were seated inside in one of their huge dining rooms. But our table was on a step area so it felt more private. There are huge Aquariums in the dining room with lots of colorful fish. 🐟 fun to watch all those fish 🐠! Service was amazing! Our Server did a great job take care of us all evening. We ordered 2 entrees. Fried oysters 🦪 -a dozen along with cole slaw, Gouda grits, & about a dozen hush puppies too! By the way, some of the best Hush Puppies ever! My husband loved his dinner. He said the Oysters 🦪 were perfect. Grits were delicious! I ordered Catfish lightly breaded in pecan meal. The big fillet came over Gouda Grits & fresh thin Green Beans. It was delicious! I would definitely order this again! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Several other items were on the menu I would try too. We will be visiting The Fish House on our next trip to the area! Can’t wait! Yum!
Stopped by The Fish House in Pensacola while scouting sites for the upcoming #qctflalgancexperience tour by #queencitytours and was immediately drawn in by its lively atmosphere and waterfront location near the bay. Despite a packed parking lot, there was ample space and great views. The restaurant had a cozy, fish-camp vibe with friendly staff and hardwood décor. Service at the bar was quick and personable. Ordered grouper bites, Alabama wings, and a Guinness — food was tasty, especially the grouper and homemade tartar sauce, though prices were a bit high for the portion. Restrooms were fairly clean. Overall, a busy but enjoyable spot with quality seafood and great service — worth a return visit when back in Pensacola.
We went to The Fish House mid-day for an early dinner. We had a party of six with my two elderly grandparents. They had ramps outside the restaurant, so it made it easier for them to get in. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was cozy and inviting. The food was great! We got an assortment of different foods including the famous Grits À Ya Ya. Everything was delicious! Definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the Pensacola area!
Fantastic seafood at an affordable price. Service has always been good but Abbey C did a great job. So many choices like the Grits Ya Ya, but we the spicy sandwiches. Large grilled fillet of grouper with a side of curly fries, delicious! You can substitute the fries from several side items. My wife ordered the cheese grits. Affordable price.
Dropped by with friends while on vacation and loved it. Great food , attentive server and fun atmosphere. The seafood basket was outstanding! The fried shrimp excellent. My wife and her mother were going to split an entree and the server had the kitchen do it and presented two plates with the food already split! A very thoughtful gesture. The fried green tomatoes had a delightful flavor with just the right amount of spiciness. Definitely will return when back in thr area.
This place is wonderful. The service is top notch. The food came out timed well, and the servers were attentive without being annoying. The atmosphere is great. Casual enough to be comfortable. Large aquariums everywhere. It's quiet enough to have a conversation. I had the Shrimp and Grits, my mom had the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo. Both dishes were wonderful.
The service was impeccable. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Food was to die for. Had gumbo to start off the lunch. Great flavor. But the real treat was the stuffed salmon patty with zucchini, broccoli, and yellow squash smothered in a portobello cream sauce over a bed of jasmine rice. Still licking my pallet. Their lunch special was very special.
Destination food right here. Beautiful restaurant on the water. The grilled grouper was some of the best I've had! Great service and we got to meet the owner as well. Highly recommend it to everyone! Gluten free options available.
First time at The Fish House for my brother in law’s bday! I was truly impressed! I LOVE fresh seafood! The crab cake appetizer was DELECTABLE! The mussels were the best we’ve ever had! The grouper was decent… the volcano sushi roll was not great!
Such a cool place! We really enjoyed our visit to the fish house. The atmosphere is super laid back but nice, it’s got a good touch of classic charm. The food was delicious! We enjoyed the grilled grouper and it was one of the best we’ve ate. There is no doubt you will go wrong with the Gouda grits, absolutely amazing! The drinks were great too and the bartender, Brandy, was awesome! We loved the view and outdoor vibe. Can’t say enough good things, it’s definitely a place we will be back to!
Great food, great service, awesome prices, nice ambience, and clean establishment. We visited this restaurant on vacation, and our waiter, Dylan, took great care of us. He was friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and very knowledgeable of the menu. The restaurant was quite crowded when we arrived, but he made us feel welcome and checked in often to ensure we enjoyed our experience. I highly recommend the Pecan-Crusted Catfish Meunière. The first order was in-house and we fell in love with it. It was different yet absolutely mouthwatering - the pecan crust and sauce took the dish to another level for my taste buds. I ordered another plate to go for dinner, and if I must be honest - the reheated dish was even more heavenly, and I had a greater appreciation for the smoked gouda cheese grits that surprisingly presented a nice flavor that I didn't notice prior. Next up on my list of recommendations is the Key Lime Pie - apparently, it's a Florida thing - but I must say, you bleeeesssssssed me with this recipe - it was a smooth and delicious party in my mouth. We tried a few others in Pensacola, but this was definitely our favorite. Great job team!. We also ordered a cup of gumbo - which was a bit too salty for me so I didn't finish the dish. I order crab cakes whenever and wherever I can - the Creole Crab Cake was different in that it had a strong pecan flavor - I'm still not sure how I felt about it other than it was interesting, but I finished the portion lol. The Fish and Chips was specially prepared for my mother to accommodate her health concerns, and even though the recipe may have been slightly adjusted, she was still able to enjoy the dish.
Our family booked a private room as a re-pass for my mom’s funeral. We were a party of 14 family members and our server, Maya, handled it beautifully. She was polite, attentive and full of grace dealing with us. I appreciate everything she did. The food was delicious. We had a lot of appetizers, cheese boards, spring rolls, fried green tomatoes and very, very scrumptious mussels. The sauce on the mussels was outstanding. Everyone ordered off the menu, and everyone truly enjoyed their meals. We left having enjoyed family time with relatives not seen in years and everyone had a full, satisfied belly. I’m glad we had the private room. It gave us some much needed time together without having to worry about being disruptive to surrounding patrons. Thank you so much for hosting our family.
Hope went above and beyond to get us the dinner oyster special and when there was a delay on them she communicated that to us with honesty and apologies. We appreciated the kitchen accommodating our desire and hopes support. It was a great experience, as always, and reaffirmed that we visit every time we are in town. Thanks for a yummy visit!

We had a party of four and nobody complained! We started off with the Soul rolls (collard greens and chicken with a peach chutney) and white barbecue sauce chicken wings. They were both super tasty! For dinner 2 of us had Parmesan crusted grouper and 2 had crab stuffed flounder. We couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. The four of us ate for a little over 200.00. Our dinners were about 50 a piece. We had nothing but good things to say about the Fish House!
The food was delicious. It came out fresh and hot. Sauces paired with the fish delicious. Maihi maihi dish so tasty and I’d eat it again. Stuffed flounder cooked to perfection. The facilities seem like it’s in need of repair. Trees need to be trimmed. Boards we walk on, had holes in them. Outside tables need painting. Just a few repairs and the place would be more upscale like expected… The view of the water was glorious! We enjoyed it so much. They even had big fans to blow air to take care of the bugs and give a breeze.
Ordered the Grits ya ya as everyone seemed to be hyping about it but to me it was a bit too salty. It was good at first bite but eventually it’s not something you enjoy till the end. Perhaps the mashed potato was too creamy and the shrimp a bit dry. The appetizer, fried with fish was good though.
I enjoyed my time at the Fish House. We went on Christmas Eve and the restaurant was very busy and the outdoor seating was closed. We had about a 15 minute wait to be seated (they didn't take a reservation before hand) and we were seated at a few smaller tables pushed together for our 9 person group. The long table seating was unfortunate because it makes it hard for everyone to talk and hear each other. The restaurant was slightly loud due to the amount of people talking, but I appreciated the fun atmosphere, without it being too boisterous. The restaurant has two large fish tanks with many different sized and colored fish. These tanks really add to the aesthetic and nod to the name. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive to our large group. The crab cake appetizer was absolutely delicious with so many complimentary flavors. The wedge salad had a lot of great components typical for the dish, however, the combination of the bacon and specific dressing made it a bit too salty for my taste. Overall we had a great time celebrating a family member's birthday. I would suggest visiting on a slower day or when the outdoor seating is open for a more cohesive time together.
We came on a Friday after 7. Busy with no wait to be seated. It's quite loud here. Our server was Amelia and she was attentive and engaging. We ordered the fried shrimp and stuffed fish with grits instead of rice. The grouper app was pretty good as was the salad. Drink prices were surprisingly budget friendly. The key lime pie had meringue on it, which was different but good. The menu is big enough to go a few times for different things. They had a nice aquarium too.
The ambiance was good and so was the food. We at first were seated outside and it had an odor (my guess was that the water had collected under the patches of grass and it caused a slight odor), but when we asked to be moved to the inside, the staff was very hospitable and understanding. As to our meals, I had the vegetarian option, curried sweet potato, carrots and chick peas with bismati rice. It had a good flavor though it was lacking salt. The two friends I was with both thoroughly enjoyed their meals, a hamburger with fries and shrimp and grits. All in all a good experience.
Every year I come to this place to eat. Two consecutive years eating the Sun dried tomato Alfredo. I go for the third year. WHERE DID THE SUN DRIED TOMATO ALFREDO GO? BRING IT BACK NOWWWW!!! The food, atmosphere, and view is great though 😄. But please for my sake bring it back!
We had the grits a ya ya and were a little disappointed. As a signature dish we expected much more. The shrimp were grilled too long and were tough. Been coming here for 20+ years and the food is good.
Excelente.
We’ve lived here for quite some time and have never been to The Fish House. We decided to try it for dinner before the rush. Ordered the fried green tomatoes, dozen assorted oysters, their “world famous” grits, and the grouper. The fried green tomato’s had really great taste but 3 tiny slices for $15 were ridiculous. Way over priced for the portion. The oysters were….eh. They were struggling with flavor. They just seemed extremely bland. The grouper was amazing. For $45, it should be. It tasted really good. Wasn’t dry and had plenty of flavor. The “world famous” grits fell extremely short. I’ve had far better grits from places around Pensacola. The environment was great and the waitress was ok. All and all, I wouldn’t come back.
We recently visited Fish house, Pensacola during our vacation. We had an overall good experience. The restaurant itself is in a great location for a perfect casual dining experience. The food was good. There had high hopes after reading all positive reviews but it didn’t quite standout compared to other places I’ve been to. Our server seemed a little distant and had a bit of an attitude. There was definitely a lack of warmth and attentiveness that you usually hope for when dining out. Overall, it is a nice spot with good food but I’d suggest they work on improving customer service to really make it stand out.
Beautifully plated! You eat with your eyes first!! Unfortunately this dish was a big swing and a miss. What was supposed to be a glorious étouffée sauce ladled over the entree turned out to be an unflavored water like substance only. The fish was cooked properly but the overall dish was bland. The grits were bland….just meh! I know this place has the potential to do better but whoever plated this knew better .. the server and manager went to the back and checked the sauce and threw it out. Made new and brought me a sample of what should’ve been on the dish. It was excellent in appearance and taste which tells me the cooks knew in the back they shouldn’t have sent this plate out. management should’ve comped the entree entirely but chose not to .. flip a coin and decide for yourself.
