We had a very nice lunch here at Hotel Petersburg. The dining room is beautiful and has old world charm. This would be a great place to go for a special occasion.

The service was amazing! The Atmosphere was the best! The food was very good! The Chicken with mushrooms sauce and potatoes with Mac&Cheese was good! My wife had the Lamb Chops with Mac&Cheese. Everything was hot and fresh. Lamb Chops was very tender! Chicken was falling off the bone!

My wife and I went there for Valentines Dinner. It was recommended by our daughter. Well she has good taste. The staff was very friendly. Kirk our server was fantastic. He made some excellent suggestions and was on point with everything. The food was amazing. Everything was prepared perfectly. Definitely give them a try. It's a hidden gem.

Wonderful atmosphere for date night. Patio area is comfortable and inviting. Service was spectacular. We told our waitress about horrible peach cobbler from another place we had so she said they had a great one on the menu and she was right. It was exactly what we wanted. I could have made a small meal or snack out of their mac and cheese. It was a good size portion for me.

the cocktails and the meals were outstanding in presentation, flavor, quality of cooking, and quantity. This is true for the appetizers and main courses. Shirley’s is located in the old section of Petersburg, where our family lived for decades, so it is with pride and pleasure that we strongly recommend Shirley’s as an outstanding restaurant, anywhere. Beverages, appetizers, main courses, and enjoying the ambiance of an era gone by in this restored hotel and restaurant - definitely worth the drive to Olde Towne Petersburg for an outstanding meal. See photos for appetizers and entrees we enjoyed. The overall price per person includes cocktails and service tip.

Booked the thanksgiving dinner and was very pleased. Service was top notch, enjoyed the food and drink, and the hotel has a nice vibe. I think folks expecting real gold accents and a parking lot need a reality check about where they are. We enjoyed the holiday and appreciated the hustle of the crew from bar to kitchen.

With a party of 6. All agreed food was outstanding. Between us we got shrimp, salmon, tuna, ribs and smashed burger. Our waiter Kirk, took very good care of us and we were pleased with the service. Coconut cake for our dessert was delicious. We all agreed that we would come back again.

110% would recommend to anyone in the Petersburg area. Our server was respectful, responsive, and attentive. I would like to thank our server for being the best server of the year. He earned that $50 tip, we will be coming back again!

We went to the bar for drinks 2 nights during our stay and both our bartenders were absolutely amazing. Sol was very knowledgeable of the alcohol she was serving and Jason had some amazing drink recipes he created, I recommend that white lady, definitely should be added to the menu. They had a great selection of local beers and a really good cocktail list. Great way to unwind after a long day.

The Hotel Petersburg is simply stunning, bringing back the nostalgia of fond memories. The rooms are perfectly decorated with attention to detail in every way. Shirley's Restaurant was a 10/10. The food, staff, ambience and price point were all met with perfection. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Beautiful dining room, graciously appointed with delicious food and attentive service. Very reasonably priced, valet parking. If this establishment were in Manhattan, it would be a gold mine. Three of us had a wonderful lunch. I highly recommend the Vermont Short Rib Melt. Worth the drive from Richmond for a fun outing.

Beautiful restoration of a classic building and our lunch was delicious. Must try Dirty Shirley cocktail and the Smashed Burger. Cooked to perfection. Key Lime Pie was good too. We will be back and look forward to the rooftop deck in summer!

Wow! What a great find! We chose Shirley’s for our date night and were not disappointed. The hotel and restaurant have such a classic charm and feel, and it was better than the pictures. There is so much history in the area, from Tabb Street Presbyterian Church across the street to the courthouse just a few blocks away. We felt welcome and comfortable, and so did everyone else. In fact, a great part of the night was getting to know the older couples who sat near us. We loved the friendly vibe. The service was top notch. Everyone was kind, considerate, and attentive. Our drinks were always full, and our waitress checked in regularly. Kudos to everyone there. Super job. The food was just as expected for the quality of experience and for the price paid. Everything was delicious and flavors were balanced. Portions were filling but not excessive, and dessert was delicious. I think there was a valet parking lot nearby if you want to kick it up a notch. We met the attendant on the way in, and he was very kind. However, know that there is street parking everywhere. We parked and walked several minutes to and from dinner without a problem. We hope everyone has the same experience we had at Shirley’s. We are looking forward to visiting again sometime in the future!

Had the lamb chops and macaroni. Nice adult atmosphere, staff were great. You can expect to spend some money in here. Great spot for a nice dinner.

Apparently they are open for breakfast but not taking reservations for that time. Menu for lunch doesn’t have much so we tried an appetizer and it wasn’t fresh. It was so cold you can tell it was made ahead of time and stored in the fridge. This was the shrimp martini ceviche. Not too much spice and the chips are homemade with some seasoning on them. While eating lunch there was a maintenance guy outside with a blower and I couldn’t even have a good conversation.

Decided to try out Dec.26 …. Early dine. Beautiful venue, polite attentive staff. I will say there are quite a few quirks to be worked out but feel overall the management is aware of staffing issues and attempting to address them. Courtney - management in bar and possibly the restaurant manager too?? is FABULOUS… Spot on knows what needs to be done and is there filling in for every position. Split the shrimp and sausage grits and the vegetarian dinner dish with a friend. My Suggestion would be a bread/ dip basket or some other signature basket while waiting for entrees…. Definitely will be back as venue is beautiful - especially once rooftop bar is open and weather favorable. Entrees were all in all okay ,though still a bit on the hotel restaurant expectation of dining. Really want this whole endeavor to be a plus for Old Towne Petersburg. Once again, Thank you Courtney for doing such a stand out job. Sharon Spain

We decided to try Shirley’s for our 36th anniversary this past Tuesday night. I noted on our reservation that we were celebrating this event. First, the venue is really beautiful. We were greeted promptly, but the server didn’t ask if we were celebrating anything. Finer establishments should always ask. Second, we ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer, which was delicious. The server did not come back for nearly 15 minutes because he was only 1 of 2. Two larger groups came in, so our service experience went downhill from there. Our entrees came and were delicious (smash burger, fried green tomato and the composed little salad). But no one ever came back to check on our drinks or the meal. We were there for about 90 minutes. Not sure we will go again. Waitstaff needs training and there need to be more of them. If you don’t have enough waitstaff, the manager needs to be out there helping and checking on patrons. This could be a really nice dining experience, but it needs work. Food 4.5. Service 1.0.

Yelp The boutique Hotel Petersburg Tapestry was a bit disappointing. The lobby looks nice at first, the nice wide marble steps, but the crown moldings are just painted with metal gold. Shirley’s The restaurant was quite full so we went to the adjacent bar. We sat at a small table near the bar and ordered cocktails. The atmosphere was nice and the vintage architecture of the old hotel was visually appealing, except for the metallic gold paint on the molding. I asked for the mocktail ginger mule, but with whiskey. My wife asked for a taste of a draft, but it was flat and so she asked for an old fashioned, it was terrible. We ordered from a brief selection of the basic southern fried dishes, ugh. I got the blackened salmon, and it was a bit too blackened and dry….the salmon was too large portion, filling the plate, with completely blackened and greasy ‘compote’ that was so charred and greasy I couldn’t tell what is was, buried under the fish.I believe a few Brussel sprouts and chunks of apple. My wife got a ‘salad’ that was a cut in half romaine with a few shrimp balanced on top and a spicy aioli sauce, sadly not much effort here. The menu is in need of more healthy options! A real mixed greens salad with darker greens would be a good start! A vegetarian dish please! The salmon option portion could be cut in half and still be generous, then broiled to retain the natural juices.A side of lightly steamed vegetables perhaps a few sweet potatoes slices air fried to complete a balanced meal.

I got avocado toast with scrambled egg. Halfway through eating, I was grinding something between my teeth. I thought it might be eggshells. I called the waitress and asked what that could be? She said it was coarse salt. I told her to tell the chef, "Bad idea! Eggs and avocado aren't supposed to grind between your teeth!" She offered me another one, but I declined. My husband and friend got the fritatta with goat cheese. What was served was a flat, thin, round omelette. It had no filling, just something green on top (spinach or lettuce?) And chunks of goat cheese. A fritatta is usually a crustless quiche with filling. Oh well.

Christmas Eve. First timers. Made reservations on Open Table. Only a several course menu at $75 a person. The hostess said it was on both the website and Open Table. We did not stay. Checked both sites again, I could not find anything about only a price fixed menu tonight. Driving to Richmond. Disappointed and slightly annoyed.

I’ll start with the good: Our server, Kirk, was awesome and the drinks were yummy. The good ends there. We called ahead and were told no reservation was needed, yet the hostess acted annoyed we didn’t have one — in an empty restaurant. Our server Kirk was excellent, but staff gave conflicting info about the rooftop bar and were condescending about bringing a child. We were simply trying to enjoy a post-dinner drink and check out the view, but quickly left when the hostess was rude. The food was overpriced and mediocre at best. For a new place in town, they’re coming off more pretentious than welcoming.

Beautiful restaurant inside the hotel. Street parking was annoying. The waitress forgot our apps and we waited over 20 mins. The food was just ok. It was expensive.

Thought this old hotel might be an interesting place to visit on a business trip. Service was good. Interesting decor with bygone high ceilings with marble and wood accents. Fun! Food was most disappointing. Bottom of Cuban sandwich was burned. Salmon was overcooked and especially the vegetables. Charred Brussel sprouts were mushy, same for the chutney. Thought about sending the food back but felt sorry for the server. I don't like to post negative reviews, but the food preparation deserved one.

This is a review of the bar only. On a Saturday afternoon around 3pm (May 10) the bartender appears to be held against her will. Moved slow as molasses, did not know how to make the so called signature cocktails. She was more engaged with her phone then the customers at the bar. We noticed 2 people just walk out. Kamesha was the barender name. Really sad how 1 person can distroy a guest experience.

On feb 16 the bartender (blk female) was doing fine until I (also blk) went to the restroom leaving my hoodie and drink at the bar. She had the host at the hotel front desk bang on the door while I was in the bathroom to make sure I didn't "make a run for it". I confronted the bartender who admitted that's what she did. "It happens all the the time" she stated when confronted. After all that I still left a 1$ tip.

DO NOT EAT AT THE RESTAURANT!! I had a dinner reservation at Shirley's at The Hotel Petersburg last Friday 12/12/2025 for 15 people. We arrived for our reservations, and 2 members of our party were unable to attend due to personal reasons (sick child & car issues). We spent well over $2000 on food and beverages and I just noticed on my credit card statement that I was charged an additional $45. When I called to inquire, I was told that I had to pay $15 for each person that did not show up for my dinner reservation. Not only was this not communicated to me in advance but they wrongly charged me for 3 missing people when on 2 people did not attend. I have been trying to contact the food and beverage manager Melissa all day today. I was told she would call me when she got in, and then when I called back hours later I was told she would contact me after the lunch rush. Since I still have not heard from her I tried to contact her at again at 3:00pm and was told she was too busy to take my call. I find it extremely frustrating to be charged for missing guests at a dinner. I would understand if we didn't show up for our reservation at all and then was charge for the no show but that is not the case in this situation. I will never eat, stay or recommend this hotel to anyone.

Can't say if the food is good here or not. Tried to dine here twice. First time we waited for 15 mins for a waiter to approach us and left. Last Sunday we tried again. Walked in at 5PM and bartender was obviously not glad to see us. Then the strangest thing - she let us walk to the hostess podium and stand there about 2 minutes. Then she said are you all here to eat? We said yes. She said the dining room is not open on Sunday. I replied that your website states it is open from 2PM to 9PM on Sunday. She said yeah, well we had no business on Sunday so we discontinued those hours. We left. Hilton, do better. The service attitude is rude. Also, how hard is it to change your website info? Ridiculous. Poorly managed. The hotel was empty. Maybe Petersburg can turn the building into another drug rehab facility. This will be another Oyster Society which I predicted would close after dining there. Look Hilton folks, I've traveled the world and stayed at your properties. This one is sad. Take the advice of a former large grocery chain exec who has years in business - cut your losses and close this place or bring in out of town people to run it because it will ruin your reputation. Yocals are impressed by decor and food placed in the middle of large plates. You've got to impress people that have the means to dine there regularly. Not just people going for a special occasion.

The pork chop didn’t taste like a 26 dollar pork chop. The bar tender was super rude, I didn’t get everything I ordered and Ididn’t catch her name because she never offered it. The food and beverage manager Mellisa was extremely nice, had the chance to meet her before the bar tender. The last visit, I had a random old woman throw up on me well entering the elevator and all I got was a laugh, I tried to give this place a second chance. Won’t ever return! Off my company’s list of approved hotels! Please take caution of others fake reviews!
