Me gustó mucho desayunar aquí ya que tienen un montón de cosas que desde que llegas y ves a los demás comer se ve super rico, la comida es económica, nada más no me gustó que no tengan pago con tarjeta 👎🏻 fuera de eso todo estuvo super rico y recomendable.

Empezando por la decoración del lugar: es una obra de arte elaborada con amor, y se siente desde que entras. Desde la primera vez que vine probé los chilaquiles rojos con huevo y pollo, y cada que tengo oportunidad regreso por lo mismo. El café de olla es una delicia, también me enamoró. El ambiente relajado y acogedor te invita a permanecer disfrutando del espacio y admirando cada detalle… por donde sea que mires hay algo que te sorprenderá positivamente. Es una muy grata experiencia. Definitivamente recomendado.

El lugar tiene una vibra súper chida, mucha vegetación, los detalles psicodélicos, la música y la decoración sin duda para comer ahí es bastante agradable, uno sale de buenas. Nada es caro, todo es a buen precio. No hay muchas opciones de bebidas, solo lo básico. Igual de platillos no hay nada único, pero todo se ve rico. Yo pedí unas tortitas de papa y la famosa limonada con menta , y estaban muy ricas. El personal muy buena onda y amable, si regresaría a desayunar otra vez y probar más cosas. Recomendado.

A lot of people will talk about the food, and they should… the mole will change your life and the ‘green drink’ will soothe your soul. The recipes have been handed down from the grandmother, and her love of food and travel comes across the generations with each bite. But I want to add what a wonderful cause El Hongo is in helping neighborhood children have creative and expressive outlets, giving young minds a chance to run free rather than be enslaved to terrible circumstances. Ask your server what it was like during COVID, for example. All throughout the restaurant and the neighborhood are signs of these wonderfully creative young minds, all made possible from the restaurant. Of my entire trip, El Hongo hit my heart the hardest. Thank you.

Traditional little open-air restaurant with an eclectic layout. Regular live music! Simple menu with breakfast and local recipes. Mole is very tasty and the fried rice is a fun and flavorful dish! No alcohol and NOT a taco spot! Totally worth stopping by for a change of pace from the typical resort restaurant.

Ohhh man, this place was beyond delicious!! We came here twice during our visit to playa del carmen. The "hot cakes for real" are to die for!! We also had the pita bread, the enchilas, the a veggie omlete. Everything was amazing!! We tried their smoothies as well as their melon aqua frescas - YUM!!! The vibe in this place is amazing, live music, fun decore and friendly service. We will definitely come back next time we visit!!!

The entrance to El Hongo is a little different when you walk up to the restaurant. There is no visible sign out front, but the sound of great music playing within lets you know you've arrived. The vibe is very chilled as well as the clientele, mostly local and Spanish. The menu is well laid out and everything we ate and drank was fresh and delicious. The unpretentious aura isn't for everyone, but it instantly became one of our favorites! Although it's a bit far for us to get to, we are excited to return. If you enjoy mole, this one is worth having!

Very hip. Didn't chat a lot with the owners, but it shows they are passionate about this place. Food is great, but the highlight is that they have the mole dish. So if you want to try this traditional dish, this could be your spot. Smoothies are huge, served in real jars and other repuqrposed items e.g. A bottle cut and sanded off, not those fake fancy mugs. Deserts, crunchy pancakes or rice with ice cream, can't go wrong with both. Interior seems to be updating all the time, but some interesting 80s-90s touches like tapes in the toilet make for the super throwback fun moments. Everything looks clean.

Cute restaurant that we didn’t expect to be our favorite. We met the owner, he was super nice. Best horchata I’ve ever had. The restaurant itself was so cute and trippy, very colorful and fun. The food was AMAZING! My salmon was soo fresh. The guacamole was amazing! They gave us free soups and they were great. We also got a plate of plantain to share and it was great. My friends really enjoyed their chilaquiles. And they said the coffee was some of the best that they have ever had. My other friend also really enjoyed their tamarind juice. Next time I’m in Mexico, I will definitely be making the drive back here!

Comida bueno servicio bueno pero algo lento. Considera la espera. Es un lugar pequeño por eso se entienden los tiempos. La comida está muy bien sazonada, la bebida de limón menta muy Fresca.

Definitivamente no recomiendo este lugar, la comida mala, mal servida y cara para lo q es. Me trajeron salsas y yo topos ya q había terminado el desayuno. El lugar muy de onda en decoración pero sucio, había servilletas sucias en la Mesa asignada, arañas, y polvo por todos lados . El servicio grosero por un chico que no tiene el don de servir pero ahí tiene q estar. Me recomendaron el pipián q era un caldo sin sabor con tres pedazos de pollo y verduras y una cucharada de arroz. Saliendo de ahí me fui a los tacos porq me quede con hambre. Creo q cobran como si fuera un restaurante de la 5a avenida y nada que ver. Sobrevalorado totalmente no lo recomiendo hay muchas mejores opciones.
