Love the options for fried or grilled shrimp and fish. Love the egg rolls! Busy at lunchtime but still easy to get in and out fast.
Haven't visited Bayside in awhile, (5 years +) but I stopped by earlier because I had a hankerin' for some chicken fried rice, and it's just as good as it always was. The host, Quoc, was awesome and friendly, and nice lady who checked us out was very pleasant and professional, as well. Lots of selection on the menu, excellent fried rice, and it was pretty busy, as well, and they got our to-go order out much quicker than I expected. Didn't even have time to finish a beer! 😅
Great food, large portions, ok service, prices are pretty steep…still recommend.
Shrimp was fresh and lightly breaded served with salad and french fries. The ribeye was seasoned perfectly, served with a baked potato that came fully loaded. The broccoli and squash mix was flavorful and the coleslaw was light. Server was attentive and we were never for want. The cashier was a delight and even offered my husband her reading glasses when he was traversing the bill. It definitely warrants another visit next time in town. Bravo to a job well-done.
We drove into Port Lavaca looking for good, fresh seafood and Bayside did not disappoint. We had the jumbo fried shrimp with baked potatoes and calamari for our appetizer. The calamari was fresh cut and hand breaded. The shrimp with jumbo and freshly cooked. The breading wasn’t heavy, and it was very flavorful. The size was perfect. You had the choice of 6 shrimp all the way up to 20. We are so glad we stopped in, this was some of the best shrimp we’ve had in a long time and it was worth the drive over from Bay City.
Saw in the reviews waitress was rude and was worried about that, but at the same time we wanted some seafood so we decided to go. Waitress since the start was really NICE, food and drinks came in fast. She even offered and brought our son food first. She check up on us frequently. Food was delicious too. Definitely 10/10.
Very enjoyable dinner. I ordered the fried catfish and it came in a very light batter so did not cover the taste of the fish itself. I ordered gumbo to go for a later meal and it was just as tasty as I expected from eating the catfish. Service was great and friendly. I was able to park my truck towing a small camper in their lot.
The family stopped here on our way to Houston and we really enjoyed the service and food. Our server was very kind and friendly but I didn’t get his name. He made our visit so much better. He is definitely an asset to this restaurant and I highly recommend this restaurant for their delicious seafood as well. I am including photos of their menu to see all the food they serve. By the way, they are OPEN for Dine In.
Great food and don't take you to the bank. Friendly atmosphere service was great I have no complaints highly recommend I usually fill up on the shrimp
We ate here on a recommendation from someone who grew up in Port Lavaca. They were right. Really good seafood. The place looked closed when we got there, but we walked in and were promptly seated. Our server was very friendly and informative about the menu. We really enjoyed our food, and the price was on par with other seafood restaurants. If we're ever in the area again we will definitely eat here again.
Very disappointing that this restaurant has the word "seafood" in the title. The food was subpar, much like school cafeteria quality. I had the fried seafood special and was looking forward to it, but the stuffed crab was dry and tasted like Stove Top Dressing. The scallops were overcooked and rubbery, and the fried oysters tasted like fried mushrooms (maybe they were). The catfish was super soggy. Yuck! A coastal town should be pro at seafood! This place is far from it.
My experience at this restaurant started with high expectations but quickly diminished with the attitudes of the staff members and the perceived owner. Apparently there are not substitutions allowed. And don't even try to get the grilled oysters as an add-on. I ended up ordering a plate of them simply to try them and for the sake of this review. I would have been much better with a side or add on as they were underwhelming. They were quite bland. Each plate came with dirty rice and a seasonal vegetable. The dirty rice may have been a little dry but had a nice flavor. Most of the vegetable was broccoli. I will say the redfish was cooked perfectly as were the shrimp that came along with it. Moving on to the actual pricing of meal. I feel the pricing was quite expensive for the area compared to other restaurants of similar quality and cuisine. Especially since despite the name it is not on the water nor is there a view thereof. All of that said I don't think I personally will return. However to be fair my score is reflective of all conditions.
I was encouraged by the number of cars in the parking lot at almost 2 p.m. The waitress was not very welcoming and seemed to have very little English. Her service was perfunctory and not attentive at all. My wife and I were interested in the grilled fish offerings and she had sea bass and shrimp. I had the seafood plate with grilled catfish, shrimp, scallops, and oysters. The food arrived hot and appeared generous. Went downhill from there. While my catfish was some of the best I have ever had, my wife's sea bass was dry. The dirty fried rice was bland. The grilled vegetables (zucchini, broccoli and onion) was not very well seasoned. The shrimp was okay but on the tough side. The scallops had a bitter edge and the oysters were probably the worst I have ever had. Very fishy! All in all a disappointing meal. I doubt we return.
We ate lunch here today and ordered the grilled chicken, and 2 combo. Chicken was very tuff and dry but the fried shrimp was good. Catfish was not so good, very mushy texture. Best part was when the waitress brought out our food she gave us someone else's plate BUT did not notice until the other table pointed it out. At this point I had started eating the fries and touched the catfish. Waitress came back to the table stated to wait, wait, wait (her words)and grabbed the plate, when doing so I told her I touched the food and starting eating off of the plate. She took the food to the other table and swapped the dishes. Very gross. This is the first time we have every experienced this and we felt bad the other party was eating it, cause I would not have. Needless to say, this was our first and last time we will be dining at this restaurant.
Not the best place for seafood. Shrimp was overcooked. I was trying to eat but had to keep swatting flies away from our food and drink.
I’ve frequented coming to Bayside Seafood for quite some time. However, my most recent trip provided some of the worst service I’ve had ever. Not only did we not get served until 30+ after we had arrived, but other people who came long after us had been given their food before we got ours (and we were a smaller group!) I felt the staff were not friendly and seemed annoyed at our request for an update. The food was not too bad, but I probably will never go back to Bayside after that experience!
