Chicken Express restaurants around Corpus all seem to be clean and well managed. All local locations are new within the last few years. The service here was great.

The customer service was awesome during the evening. I went during my lunch break for work with my family and the food was fresh and delicious. I tried one of my husband's fried gizzard and it was delicious. That's coming from someone who doesn't eat gizzards. If I could give 10 stars I would.

I went to Chicken Express to meet my wife for lunch and ordered our lunch. The order came out super fast, so i had to wait about 10 minutes for my wife to arrive. when my wife finally arrived, The manager came to our table and told my wife he was going to replace her chicken, because "Here at Chicken Express your order needs to be hot and fresh" WOW! you guys are awesome! We’ve never tried chicken express before and decided to give it a try and we’re just so glad we did!! Very friendly customer service we ordered the special and chicken was hot and fresh everything was delicious we loved the rolls and biscuits too.

I drive 30 miles just to eat chicken here. It's that good. The rolls are awesome with honey. Haven't tried the fish yet. Will try it next visit. But the chicken is the best. Better than Popeyes, KFC, Church's, or even Chesters, or Pete's Chicken N More. The marinade they use on the chicken must be the secret to their success. If you haven't had Chicken Express you're missing out. Who else makes fresh dinner rolls everyday? Sure you could go to Good N Crisp, but this place puts them to shame. Sprinkle a little Serendipity Seasoning on your meat and it takes it to the next level. Forget about biscuits leave those for breakfast. Try the rolls. Enjoy your visit. ***Ate here again today 9-6-2021. Ordered the 2 piece catfish meal. It comes with your choice of side, hush puppies, and a drink for 8 bucks and change. The catfish fillets are huge. You get 2 so basically you get a whole fish. They're battered in cornmeal. I'll post some pics. It also comes with Ken's Steak House tartar sauce. It's really awesome. Although this is a place for chicken we go for the fish. They have the best fried fish fillets and it's a generous portion. We come here often for the fish and the service is always great as well. Staff is always friendly and courteous and they always have everything ready quickly.

This is my first Google review. I had to have a friend help me. I wanted the company to know that today I got the best customer service. The staff was was very nice. The young lady that took my order was so polite and patient. I received my food fast and fresh. Love the fried fish! Something that made today's visit different was the manager came by and asked how my food was. Something you don't get to often in a fastfood place. So thank you Christie for the little something extra. You earned a loyal customer today. Kudos!

Just like the name suggest, you can get your food quickly. The foods taste is consistent and everyone I’ve interacted with has been polite and friendly. Just splendid.🙂 The only draw-back to this local fast food chain is that because it’s so popular you may have to wait up to ten minutes to get your food during the after work rush hour, and that’s after you’ve placed your order and have had a seat. To offer up another complement, they cook the fish once it’s ordered. So you get hot fish, but again, it takes about seven minutes for the fish to cook. So prepare to exercise your patience. Here is a hint. If you want an experience likened to the newly opened Amazon Go convenience store in Seattle, Washington, call and place your order ten minutes before you arrive. That way all you have left to do is pay at the register, Grab and Go. Lastly, Shout out to Olga!  She’s one of the managers. Every time I call-in, I ask for her. She places my order, and it’s always perfect. In conclusion, there’s my Google review address to Chicken Express.

I picked up 3 Fresh fried fish. The roll that came with it. Chicken Gizzards. 1 large soda. Fish was VERY Good. The Gizzard were a hit dry ( it was 20 minutes to closing time ) So I won't hit them hard. I will return,

Crispy, and juicy chicken! Huge pieces of fried fish! Hush puppies and country gravy! All the food was amazing and ready very fast. The cashier was super friendly and even carried our food to a table while we got our toddler into a high chair. Very clean and new facility. no baby changing stations in bathrooms so I can't give 5 stars, I would say 4.5 stars if I could.

I eat here regularly. It's usually a hit or miss when it comes to quality of the food. One day the fries are bad, next day they're super delicious. Chicken would be fully cooked, dry, or not at all. Mashed potatoes would be the best you've ever had or old and moldy. The tea though, can always count on the tea being sweet like liquid Diabetes. Very delicious. Even with the misses, I still come here.

Visited the Portland store for the first time 04/13/2016. It was Our first time to eat at Chicken Express. We were greeted by a cold staring and non-responsive cashier, register# 2, 3:45 P.M. with soiled clothes and NO positive attitude, or should I say NO attitude at all. I asked her if I could see one of the wings. She refused and told me she was a cashier. Veronica, a lady working on the line came out and greeted us with a pleasant personality and HUGE smile. She explained the menu to us, showed me a wing, and help us with our order. Vanessa, the manager was very nice and helpful too. The cashier was very unfriendly, non-responsive, and needed to clean herself and her clothes up. The food was GREAT! Veronica and Vanessa were wonderful. The COLD staring and unhelpful cashier should be cleaned up, trained to be helpful and engaging to the customers. In other words, needs a positive personality and a smile wouldn't hurt for us that buy the food and pay her salary. If it weren't for the terrible cashier I would have rated this restaurant a 5 star experience! Thank you, Veronica and Vanessa for saving the Chicken Express day!!

Ok, I have been here a few times while working out here during the week recently. I actually just came out of chicken express. I have to give them some thumbs up. Every time I go I am treated well, given extra condiments and/or food, the combo options are awesome, the tenders and chicken is good. So thanks Chicken Express, I F with y'all!!

Decent fried chicken and chicke tenders. Also, fried fish filets are also good. The sides are also good, including the mashed potatoes and corn poppers. Service is usually quick and courteous.

Had to adjust my order due to not having all the pieces of chicken ready during dinner time. The food was good, but i was disappointed in the selection. I'm not sure how you're supposed to feed a family when the cost of a 7 piece tenders costs almost $17. Going to price yourself out of business.

This place used to have great fried chicken and prompt service. They are not keeping up though. Hopefully it will change to the better.

Went by around 7, another customers order came to me and I only noticed because he had ordered before me.My food took a while to come out and they were out of mac and cheese.....then when I got home they had forgotten my order of okra. Everything was over salted as well. I live in Ingleside or I would of gone back. I was expecting better since I've had nothing but good experiences with the one in corpus.

I asked for unsweetened tea I got sweet tea. Why do you have to put 10 lbs of sugar to your tea it is too sweet you don't think of people with diabetes My food was correct and the service was great. But got the wrong tea.

The food and chicken here are very good . They also serve fried fish. Never really stopped before but was craving chicken and glad I stopped. Will be returning to this place. It was very clean inside although arriving almost to closing time, the staff was very friendly and still greeting with a smile and still made me feel welcomed to come dine in. Thank you.

Just a drive thru trip. Wait time was average. Got home and the order was 💯 correct. Food was still warm after the drive from Portland to AP. It's a win-win.

My family and I went for dinner at this location about 8:00 pm on 7/16/22. We had a family of 12 and ordered two family tender bundles totaling about 50 tenders. We got 3 family sides of fries and one of mashed potatoes. We were not able to get macaroni as a side due to them being out. All of the food we ordered was good. The service was not so much. When we asked for ketchup for the fries, we were told they were out as well. We asked if they could give us Buffalo or ranch as a dipping sauce since they were out of ketchup and were told no. She said she would “get in trouble.” I simply asked her to make it right since we order 3 family sides of fries and spent about $120 for dinner. The manager told us we could use gravy for our fries. We were told we would have to pay 50 cents per dipping sauce. The manager was not very accommodating for them being out on product.

Every time I order chicken livers I write in comments, "Please don't over cook livers so they will stay tender." Every time I receive livers they are over cooked and hard!!! Why can't they cook them correctly???

First time eating at chicken express in Portland, I asked the cashier for fresh fish and still got old fish cold french fries cold chicken strips and I wanted all dark meat on my chicken and got it mixed.

Food was great!! But.... customer service was HORRIBLE!! Rude as well. From the drive thru speaker, at the window, til when we got our food from the girl who brought it out.

I ordered a 2 pc with biscuit, okra and tea....the okra was cold....biscuit was hard.....tea too sweet and watered down.....chicken was good and warm.....I have been to one in North TX and it was always good there.....I will give them another chance later on....not looking to get anything free....I just wanted you to know what is going on and maybe it is just getting the kinks worked out since it is new

Rude girl at drive thru. Fries soggy not fully cooked. Biscuits rock hard. Otherwise chicken there were decent.

I stood there five maybe six minutes while the manager and staff socialized rather than prepare my meal. Kitchen staff saw me standing there and looked at the screen and realized I'd been waiting and fixed my meal to go.

The chicken was good, but the Mac and cheese tasted old and sickeningly sweet. It was so gross. For $30 I would expect more.

Order a 2 piece with 2 breasts and they tell us it will be about 4 min. After sitting in the drive through line for almost 15 min they tell us it will be another 16 min during peak hours.... We used to love this place but will take our business elsewhere. Would have got our food faster in a regular restaurant.... Terrible management....

Food is normally good. Today my wife got coleslaw that had gone bad. Cashier apologized and got her another. While my wife was walking back to our table, I watched cashier put the cup of bad slaw back into the fridge with the rest of the cups of slaw.

Idk if it's gone way down since they opened but whoever I happened upon working the drive-through was not very kind. Was extremely aggravated I had questions. Then at the window they hardly paid attention. That's ok, I'm more unimpressed with the food. Four piece tender with gravey. Pretty small but they gave me more than four. Almost 8.00 take that for what you will. The roll not biscuit was good though. Gravey was watery and sub par. I'll try again in the future maybe. Just not what I was hoping for on the tender front. No hate just being honest

The only thing that kinda helped was the food taste for us. The drinks came out of the dispenser hot, when I reach for the 6 ketchup packs they were left behind were sticky. I asked the worker for some more and he said there was some there. I told him I understand but they were sticky and there wasn’t enough. I did see him go and look and he did reach in to see how many there was and came back out with a sticky hand. His solution instead of removing them was to put more packets in there to push those back. In all my experience was lacking from my previous ones at the other location in corpus.

I had the spicy tenders with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. The tenders were pretty bland and not too tender. The sides were mid. The roll was somewhat hard, not soft like I like 'em. And they want to charge 2.55$ for a cup of tap water! Yeah no joke! What sad times we live in that they rob the customer like that. Go elsewhere. You will be disappointed if you come here. Mid food and bad service. The owners of Chicken Express must hate the people and hate money.

The heaven set with glasses, lady was very rude, we waited 45 minutes for are food, and it was 2 simple orders, I asked to speak to a manager and the same lady said he was busy, like I said very rude. When I asked what her name was she then proceeded to tell me none of my busy. She then starts gossiping with another employee and tells that employee that I’m a b•#ch and points at me and finely get are food 45 min later and I tell her I’ll be calling to speak with a manager and she proceeded to tell me what ever.

When you visit a chicken place you expect some greasiness to the food. But this chicken what will literally drip down your arm! They had a lot of employees but the dining area was filthy! Definitely will not be going back.

Don't go here if you expect food to be ready in a decent amount of time. We're at 30 minutes and counting in the drive thru. We could have gone to a restaurant and had a decent dinner by the time they get our food done...IF they ever get our food done. This location is the worst one we've been to.

You know it'd bad when you order the fish filet and it has absolutely no flavor whatsoever! I spoke to 2 employees about it and the only response was from the employee that appeared to be a manager, "I will have to investigate why it taste like that. Wow! Never again. BEWARE........THIS RESTAURANT CHARGES FOR USING CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS!!!!! I have not received a moist piece of chicken from this place in years, but their fish platter has always been decent. 2-3 times a year is all I can stand to go for below average food, but no more. I figured I would go in today to give them a try, but seen the enormous price hike they have done since last time I was in, then when leaving, I seen that they CHARGE you to pay there now. Most Americans at this point use plastic (credit or debit card) to pay for everything, but this place seems to think it is ok to extort customers.

Came here tonight and once again they handed me just tiny crust pieces instead of tenders. When I go back the manager with the braided ponytail gives attitude and I told her I'm paying good money I should get what I pay for. Not worth the money or the trip.

We visit this location at least once a week. People are always super friendly and food is usually good. Today I was greeted through the drive thru by a rude employee. Big fella with a diva attitude. He acted like he couldn't hear me so I drive around to the window just to have him slam it shut on my face then walked by another employee while making a joke that they both started laughing at. I did go inside to speak with the manager that was very understanding while he was talking smack to me while standing behind her. She had to redirect him several times. Obviously he has issues that do not belong in the work place. Or maybe he's just angry that he's in his 40's and working fast food.

We've come to this location several times in the past few years and have never had any issues, until last night. We have a large family and ordered about $100 worth of chicken and sides to feed everyone, drove home (which is right around the corner) served our kids food as soon as we got there and immediately realized our entire order was cold! I called and was told that they would replace my entire order but only if I could bring back the entirety of the order. I explained to the woman on the phone that that would not be possible due to the fact that we had already served our children's plates and they had tried eating at least a few bites off of them. I was then told to go ahead and come in right then and they'd replace the whole order, by then it was already close to 10 p.m. and my kids were going to bed so I asked if they could just replace it another time, I was told with extreme attitude that I either came in and got the replacement order right then or I was just out of an entire $100. I asked for a manager and was told at first the same thing by the manager, at this point I was tired of being nice and polite and started to get angry and raised my voice a bit explaining how that was terrible customer service and that I'd be contacting somebody higher than there store in regards to the matter. Once I said that I was told I would need to bring my receipt from the order whenever I came back and I could get a whole new order made and then was hung up on. I don't know if it's different people working here now or what is going on but I am very unhappy and will not be going back any time soon unless I get this issue addressed with proper attitude and better customer service !

Chicken was great. But yiou can hear the whole staff joking about my order after I made it. After I placed my order the man said " you don't need anything else" under his breath AFTER he asked if I wanted anything else. Obviously hinting sarcasm. So it is not just joking around. It shows total lack of respect for the customer. When I pulled up to the drive thru window they were all just laughing not expressing any apology at all. Just go somewhere else for chicken they cannot seem to hire or maintain a decent staff.

Waited 10minuted at the window and then ask me for more money because they didn’t remember my order. Then then excuse was wait 3 minutes on Spivey chicken ordered. Never coming back.

There were plastic shards in the fried okra and the jalapeno popper could not figure out what it was but very scary I almost swallowed it. On top of that the chicken was old and cold, don't waste your money.

Sad to say but this location has lost my business. Stopped in to have lunch and was very disappointed with the quality of the food and drinks, the chicken looked and tasted like it had sat there all night long, the mashed potatoes were cold gravy was lukewarm and ordered 3 chicken strips but received 3 small pieces of chicken that looked like nuggets. The tea was clear as water, light tan with no taste whatsoever, more water than tea actually. Was not worth the $25 we spent for this meal. Will not be returning to this place.

Went inside to order lunch for my family. Ordered the #1 combo for my son to eat before work and #4 combo for myself. The #1 tenders were way too salty and my #4 2 pc leg and thigh combo had no salt. My thing is that when I went back to let them know that the tenders were too salty the Mgr Laura was litterly taking count of what my son had eaten and he did drink the soda. My problem is that I paid for him to eat a complete good meal not bits and pieces before going to work. They should have given a good meal at the time I ordered and not offer bits and pieces as a replacement. This is not good customer service in my opinion.

Chicken express used to be my daughter's favorite but lately the portland location has been terrible. The food is not fresh, items missing, order not accurate, and the chicken is tiny. 2 legs used to fill her up but now the legs look like wing drumettes instead of actual legs. Thats a leg in my 9 year old's hand! A 2 piece meal with those 2 tiny legs was around $12. Ridiculous.

Upon arriving I noticed the lady in the back on her phone as she was making my food. The man manager was walking around eating gum, and did not proceed to wash his hands before touching my fries. This is absolutely disgusting, I couldn’t even dare to eat my food after watching so much contamination going on of the hands. This store needs corporate or somebody important to come in to instill proper sanitation and cleanliness. I vist chicken express a lot and have never had this happen. I will be filing a formal complaint with the city - no way this place should be open with that much contamination - this place is a walking health hazard - I will be calling the health department tomorrow. Please issue me a refund thank you!

Ordered a 7 piece tender mix through door dash...received only 3 spicy...the store would not correct the order even though the driver had returned to the store...it seemed like an easy solution they were unwilling to fix...they have lost a customer

Staff is lacking on customer service and sent out fries that were white and raw...gizzards half raw...and to top it off found hair in my food not once, but twice. Mentioned it to staff and it was as if they did not care. At least they made it over. But no apologies for the error on their part. I think I will go to a different location. This store in Portland, TX did not wow me at all.

Third time 9pm out of fish.. sounds like the staff can't be bothered to fry anything after 9... Word of advice, finish is the best thing on your menu. It might behove the management to hire people that like to do their job..other than that, you are displaying the coastal I really don't care attitude. Lady at drive threw didn’t even greet nor say thank you handed me my food with box all torn apart remind you I have to drive 10 minutes to get to this place … she hands me my drink and change and I drive off I get home sit down fixing to enjoy my food lol nope open the box and all my food was old and dried up didn’t touch it was so mad drove another 10 minutes back to return my food when I got there. I forgot my drink at home. Told the lady if I could have a refund, she said in order to get a refund I needed my drink. Left the food there drove 10 minutes back home got the drink. Made sure to look for the straw. I didn’t want anything missing drove 10 minutes back handed her the drink and the straw and she gave me my refund really really bad. Poor service would expect for her to say I’ll charge you for the drink since it’s not here they need new managers and they need to remember old chicken needs to get thrown out people remember chicken can only sit out so long then has to get tossed oh and my rolls where so hard lol won’t be going back stay away or make sure you check your food always before driving away

My husband and I went for lunch. We both got 2 chicken strip meals. From the start the cashier hardly said 2 words to us and looked at my husband like he was stupid when he asked for seasoning packets. When we got our meal the chicken strips were old burnt and dry. The rolls were old. The only thing that was decent about our meal was the drinks and gravy. We didn't finish our meals. We lost our appetites. We used to love eating there but never again will we go back. Extremely disappointed!! Definitely not worth the $25 we just spent.

This USED to be my favorite place! But there customer service is horrible I couldn’t even finish talking and the girl kept saying ok and what else , what else ok what else card or cash? Then I get my food get home and the chicken is old and cold as hell along with my fries.. I call up there to let them know and of course the manager said she can remake my food but that still doesn’t take care of the rude girl at the window and who would still be hungry after trying to bite a cold hard chewy tender??
