Avis sur Bonsai 2 Poughkeepsie
A local staple for good reason. Bonsai is always consistent and sushi is amazing. Our favorite is the tuna avocado roll which is a classic but they do it so well. I love how they use sesame seas on the outside of their rolls too. The Alaskan sushi dinner or tuna don is also great with thick cut buttery sashimi that melts in your mouth every time. Service is consistently good and fast. We have been coming for years.
place is amazing been over 10+ times my favorite place I think they should open up a bonsai in the washingtonville area
Oh my oh my .... what a good feeling 😌 this was the best sushi 🍣 😋 😍 😌 🙌 ☺️ 🍣 Best sushi ever with wonderful service !!!!!!
hibachi chicken dish was huge and cooked perfectly! - also had a bento box that was excellent
This restaurant is our place to go for Great food and friendly, fast service. Never been disappointed there!
This is my absolute favorite sushi spot. Food is always great, and I have never had anything to complain about in the last 8 years of going here. Highly recommend if you love sushi.
I absolutely love Bonsai II! I come here often, and it never disappoints. The Teriyaki Roll is one of my favorites—always fresh and flavorful. The Bento Box with Salmon and Chicken Teriyaki is a go-to for me—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Today I had the Hibachi Salmon with noodles and vegetables—really good. My wife had the Chicken with fried rice and loved it too. The lunch prices are really reasonable, especially for the quality. Great service, clean space, and consistent quality every time. Highly recommend!
Best sushi I've eaten, hands down! It was so fresh and so delicious. Highly recommend. The lunch specials are such a great deal. My husband and I got 3 appetizers and 2 lunch specials and spent less than $60!
If heaven were a sushi spot on earth it would be Bonsai 2. I have been coming here for years and I swear it just keeps getting better. From the delicious, fresh, incredible rolls, to the salads and app, Bonsai never disappoints. I’m seriously addicted to this place and would recommend it for takeout, date night, lunch, brunch or all of the above! If you love good sushi, you will fall head over heels for Bonsai.
Finally stepped into Bonsai II for lunch after writing my review of the original Bonsai location. Man was I surprised at this upscale elegant and softly lit setting. Much more seating than the original Bonsai and same outstanding food for the price. Generous portions. We always end up taking home left overs with the 3 roll lunch special. Around 11:45am, we were the first customers welcomed in that day. A calm quiet atmosphere, perfect first-date venue and its wheelchair accessible. Highly recommend!
We have been coming here since we moved to the area in 2010. We have never had a bad experience. The restaurant is well maintained and has a nice atmosphere. The service is good. Our whole family love the place. My wife and I usually order the Bento Box. Our kids usually order a special roll. The miso soup is very good. The dressing that comes one the salad for the Bento Box is awesome!
The sashimi deluxe, while beautiful, was a disappointment. Three pieces each of tuna (almost flavorless), salmon (okay), yellowtail (good), mackerel (unappealing flavor and texture) and white tuna (strange texture, alright flavor). The fish was served nearly ice-cold, which is great for food safety but horrible if you actually want to enjoy the flavor of the fish. The shrimp in the shrimp tempura was bizarrely straight and didn’t feel completely real. The soup and salad were fine and the restaurant was comfortable to dine in, but it’s probably best to stick to the rolls here.
I got take out hibachi and it is actually arguably the worst hibachi i’ve had. The steak taste like pepper and i asked for medium rare and it is Well done. The food is DRENCHED in oil to the point where it is actually nauseating. I usually don’t even write bad reviews but if i was sad and wanted to get hibachi and ordered from here it would make my day genuinely worse. The only reason it was bearable was the sauce they gave which tasted like mayo. The only reason the noodles only have color is because of the sauce before i put on it. the noodles were pale as if they didn’t even put any of the usual hibachi sauce. Take note of my fork in the corner. Thats how deep the oil goes and the layer below i’m assuming is the sauce but i cant even taste it because of the sheer amount of oil this plate of food had. The salad was the usual and the soup was yummy. The sushi was good I will say. But never order hibachi from here. it was genuinely disgusting and i would rather throw up 10x than ever have to eat it again. But i do recommend the sushi.
It was a last minute dinner plan for the gathering with another family. Once we told the owner we had party of 9, she firmly told us we had to make reservations next time. They took 30 second to push the tables together. I guess we screwed up her time. SO IF YOU HAVE LARGE PARTY THAT REQUIRE THEM TO PUSH THE TABLES TOGETHER WITHOUT RESERVATIONS, BETTER GO ANOTHER TIME. The waitress were so attentive, there were 2 missing rolls and the 2 waitress came to our tables and count the orders. They were able to find out which orders were missing. SO PLEASE CHECK your orders if your ordered a lot. We have about 20 rolls Ordered. Read the past review that some customers have issues on the tips, we are lucky that we don’t have this issue at all. They already added to the bill, which is the subtotal of food and drink + sales tax, then tips. Which is different than American restaurant that tips not included in sales tax. Also, they speak mandarin and cantonese among themselves and the chefs. So there is a great plus to communicate with them if you know those Chinese languages.
If you order eel rolls I recommend not going here. They put such a small amount of eel in you can't taste it, and they replace it with this crunchy stuff. I've complained about it before and they fixed it a couple times but then went right back. They didn't do this prior to the pandemic so why not just charge more instead of shortchanging people? I haven't had this experience with other types of fish, only eel. NY Sushi House does a much better job imo.
