Avis sur Duchess Poughkeepsie
It's a quaint community college with lots of free tutors and study tools to help students succeed. There are while Departments devoted to helping students with life challenges stay enrolled and stay current. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Great School! Teachers are excellent!
I have to say that my experience, here at DCC, is the best. This school has stood by me, and stuck with me, even when I almost gave up on myself. I mean so understanding, informative, and helpful 👏🏾 with actual resolutions and life-changing results... And when I went through my divorce, they (them) were the only persistent, and consistent aspect of my life at the time when, quite literally, my world was being flipped upside-down! GO FALCONS
Great school to study in. Alot of starting opportunities and knowledge that brings in motivation
This is a very nice campus. I enjoy the craft fair that I have gone to here for the past 3 years. I have not heard of it prior to that but I'm glad that there's a company that does the advertising to tell people about it and At what it is today because of that.
I was thankful for my time in this place, very good value for the money! The professors and staff were very helpful and understanding! I was lucky enough to finish the required coursework to graduate with an associates! This community college has provided a good foundation for me and the rest of my life, while allowing me to live at home and save well over 15 thousand dollars! Only after a few years can I look back and be thankful but I truly am!
I loved being at Dutchess Community College the instructor were very helpful, there was tutoring centers for almost everything class. Compound was very clean and organized. I recommend this institution to any who wants to attend a 2 year college for an associates degree.
Graduated from here and I strongly believe I got a great education here. I liked a lot of my professors. I enjoyed the discounts you get with using the student id. #ClassOf2007
I want to tell you for me being a older student , this is by far the best school I have ever attended. The staff, the students poor out so much love and support. I would recommend anyone to go to this school. This school doesn’t just say equal opportunity, they follow by it . I wish it was a 4 year school. The human services department gave me so much support that I’m in tears writing this review. Lacy was my mentor and made each day special. I want to thank DCC for the best school experience ever !!!!!
This school was amazing in obtaining my associates degree. If it was a 4 year school, I would have stayed. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a low-cost/high-quality education. Many professors teaching here also teach the same classes at schools that charge 10X the price for tuition.
Great school for anyone to go to nonexclusive and for the public which is the best kind of school. Nobody needs to have to go to some stuff the school anymore to get paid real money it takes experience in being a shark in the real world to make it these days. Any degree will do really. Just my opinion.
DCC is a great school. I took a couple of semeseters here while transferring between 4-year schools. If it was a 4-year school, I would have stayed. The majority of teachers were of high quality, and a few have gone out of their way to help me on several occasions. I was connected with a couple of internships through one of my DCC professors as well. Facilities were good, parking was ample, price was very fair (or even cheap), class scheduling was pretty flexible, advisors were great. Plenty of 13th-grade jackasses on campus, but hey, its community college. My only criticism is that the office of financial aid was abolutely terrible and unhelpful - working with them was a real burden. Hopefully this has changed since I've been there.
Beautiful campus with a view over the Hudson from the campus' highest points. Meticulously maintained landscaping and intriguing sculptures. Attentive security patrol. Ample parking and public buses stop nearby the campus.
Good college to go to, I've been going here for a couple semesters and I've really had a good experience here and just learning about life in general just from the people I've met. The pricing for courses is also really good on the wallet and most professors who teach here are pretty well rounded and down to earth. I definitely recommend this place to anyone just starting out with college and wants to save money, or is still figuring out what they want to do.
So far this school has been nothing but a pain. My daughter is starting here in the fall and the lack of help getting things done in preparation for the semester has been frustrating. My husband and I have had to visit this school on multiple occasions instead of them just having someone sit with you and walk you through the process in one shot. They have students working the Financial Aid Office which is already a bad sign because most don't know how to answer questions. If you email them they respond back with one-liners which again still doesn't answer my question or thoroughly explain anything. All they do is direct you to the school website FAQ section or if they try to answer questions they answer them incorrectly which then forces you to come back to the school and pray you get a more experienced person to assist. If they have no knowledge of the process then they shouldn't be answering questions at all. Just trying to get your children enrolled and filling out financial aid forms is a lot of pressure and frustration to deal with. My suggestion is if you're going to have students working in the office then you need to better train them or get more experienced staff because this process didn't have to be this damn difficult and I shouldn't have had to visit this school so many times just to make sure everything is in the system correctly. Such a waste of time. Smh.
My son graduation was yesterday. he went to Dutchess. I had to sit threw 1.5hrs of speeches. How great the school is, and the challenges of the future. This collage that prides its self. FORGOT TO PUT MY SONS NAME in the 56 Commencement Book. I felt like I threw ALL my hard earned money away. This only shows me that his education is questionable at best .
Ranks down with the worst of the institutions. When ever there is a problem (and there will be problems) staff do nothing other than point fingers and say "not my problem". Any one that plans on dorming there WILL be required to purchase a meal plan for the cafeteria for roughly $2000 per semester. If you don't use the entire amount, don't expect a refund. They won't give you one. Oh, it's in the handbook that it's "forfeited". Sure it is, unfortunately they don't let you know that until after they take your money.
Horrible! This college was like attending H.S. all over again and the students accounts department is the worst to deal with ever! They treat their alumni horribly. I had teachers miss many classes leaving us with little to learn from that experience and few teachers can control and hold the attention of their classes. It is very difficult to learn when everyone is talking over the instructors but contact with student accounts is by far the worst I have ever seen! Go to SUNY Empire which I did for my Bachelors or Ulster Community that I did some certifications at. I have 3 daughters and I will not allow them to even consider DCC.
-Always a problem with payments. Wouldn't refund me my tuition after a problem with a teacher took 3 calls to registry. First call, They reassured me that my refund was sent back and I should see it on my debit statement. After the last call they said, that they never do refunds electronically and they would mail me a check. - no smoking on campus. After having smoking sections removed.
Don't go to Dutchess South in Wappingers Falls a lot the Adjuncts are only there to collect a paycheck to pay off whatever major purchases they couldn't afford so now they are teaching there. They don't offer help what so ever. Its a great place to go if you want to drop out. My grades didn't improve until I went up north to the main campus. My grades went up as well as my GPA. You may save money on gas, but you'll waste money paying for classes to fail. I know a lot of people that didn't go back to Dutchess because the Adjuncts teaching there. So avoid going to Dutchess South. I wouldn't take Biology with Barnhill, history with Upham, and English with Dr. Hooker.
