Sushi Lounge in Poway is a local favorite, known for fresh, well-presented sushi and attentive service. Customers rave about the garlic edamame and happy hour deals. Some find the lunch specials limited or certain rolls (like the Cocomo) less impressive.

Avis sur Sushi Lounge Poway
I love this place. Half price specials on Monday night so there is a wait. Sushi is good and there are lots of choices for the non - sushi eaters like me. Best garlic edamame. Decent food at a decent price. Not fancy just good.
Food is always awesome here, Waitresses here are always nice, and once she really went out of her way to let us sample the difference sushi sauces. Would highly recommend for a nice date. I love the Lazy Chef sushi.
I love Sushi Lounge and this was a good experience. We tried a special roll that was for firefighters (I believe).
This is our favorite sushi place! Fun variations on classic rolls. Kid friendly options like gyoza and tempura veggies. As with most sushi, can take a while. Gets quite busy for dinner. Great dine-in specials!
Very fast! GREAT sushi! Very authentic and great customer service! Definitely recommend if your looking for a casual and fancy restaurant. If your bringing kids there is even a kids menu!
Hands down the best sushi. Alex our server is always so welcoming and attentive.
Oh, my. Best on the county. I have had Sushi hundreds of times, throughout the U.S. Canada, Singapore, Japan. The best until now was Sushi on the Rock in La Jolla (no longer there). This is every bit as good as that. The Ora King Salmon nigiri (shown here) is Salmon belly. Outstanding.
Sushi has always been good and fresh. Service was also good. Their rewards program is excellent. Mondays are a great time to go for their happy hour menu.
We just stopped in on our way to see relatives. Good menu. Food was tasty and with good sized portions. Decor was OK with nothing outstanding. We were there for lunch anyway and couldn’t care less about atmosphere.
These guys are pretty great at doing up sushi! Highly recommend if you want something special.. Ask for something special.. Those awesome chefs will throw a beautiful roll that's tasty in your face!! It's that good!!
This really is the best sushi in town. We have tried them all. I am never disappointed with their sushi. We have celebrated many birthdays and girls nights here. We have tried just about every roll and they are all delicious. The appetizers and desserts and the kids meals are great too. We ordered a platter for my kids birthday yesterday and it did not dissapoint. Can't wait to come for another Monday night girls night soon!
I can’t even describe how my visit here was other than amazing. I know I came at the perfect time 2pm-4pm so I got to eat at the Sushi bar and have Brent be my Sushi master for an hour and a half! Everything the man made I genuinely loved and every recommendation he made I accepted! Everything was an atomic bomb of awesome, everyone has a spin on things but for me he couldn’t miss even on things I had given a big miss on for others he seemed to be a magician and make anything into a pot of loaded gold bars!! You have to go here and if Brent is on duty ask for him to make it… Next Level!!
The food is very fresh, the service good and the outdoor seating is quite nice. The price is reasonable given the quality of the food. Overall, an excellent dining experience.
Came in for lunch with my daughter today. She loves the shrimp tempura and miso soup and I love the ponzu salmon. Staff is always so friendly and management is always welcoming.
We go to this restaurant often. It's our favorite spot in Poway. Staff is always friendly, and the food is always great.
Great food. Reasonable prices, especially during happy hour 4-6 except Monday. Wait staff very friendly and competent. All staff wearing masks. Very nice outdoor patio with heaters. Our favorite sushi restaurant.
I have been there twice during my travels here. The food was good and service was excellent. Happy hour prices were very reasonable. You must try the nori fries. They were delicious!
I ordered take out during the whole quarantine situation. Sushi Lounge was very busy but they kept checking in on me to make sure I was ok while my order was being prepared. Keep in mind its very busy and there are 10 more people waiting for their order as well. Just tremendous leadership from the restaurant staff. They are busting their tails to get every order out and checking on waiting customers. The food itself was also amazing. Chronic Roll and Rainbow Roll are the way to go!
This is my go-to sushi place in Poway. Great options. Good quality sushi. Outdoor seating. They take reservations. The staff is super! Love the creativity in some of the fusion style menu items. Like the ahi fish tacos and seaweed french fries. Adds a nice diversity of options to the menu. Don't knock it until you try it folks. Bravo!
Great find on our visit to San Diego (thanks to our bartender Kai at Stone Brewing who tipped us off to this place). Our server Alyssa was cheerful and very accommodating to our our 7-person group. Excellent excellent sushi! Rolls were outstanding, and our 10-year-old who inexplicably loves sashimi was very happy with the maguro. They pick a random roll to be half-price every Tuesday, we had the Chronic and loved it. Also try Happy Wife and Haji. Go early or make reservations, this place is popular.
Cheers to this place! Must go for vegetarian sushi! We had double crunch (right) and lounge lizard (left) and they both were really really delicious! Also the ambience of the place is awesome. Nice patio dining! Customer service is nice too. Our server Alyssa did a great job! All in all, I am coming to this place again! 😊
I’ve driven past Sushi Lounge hundreds of times, always saying “we should try this place,” but never actually going—until now. My wife and I stopped by on a Sunday at 3 PM and discovered their fantastic happy hour (3–5 PM) with discounted rolls and drinks. We each enjoyed two specialty rolls (fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor) plus a Coke and a lemonade. Our total came to about $45 before tip—and tipping was a no‑brainer, because our waitress was friendly, attentive, and super efficient. We opted to sit on the patio, which was perfect for a relaxed Sunday afternoon. The quality of the sushi far exceeded our expectations, especially at those prices, and the staff’s warm, professional service made the whole visit feel effortless. Sushi Lounge is now officially one of our go‑to spots in Poway. If you’re looking for top‑notch rolls, great happy hour deals, and a pleasant patio atmosphere, give them a try—you won’t be disappointed! Another WIN in poway.
This place has some of the best sushi. The employees are knowledgeable and always playing around with different flavors that always seem to work just right. Try the Tasmanian rolls or their Ring of Fire sushi rolls. You can ask for any specials as well that may not even be on the menu as well 😉 During COVID, there is seating outside and menus that can be scanned with your phone. Enjoy!
They make the best sushi ever, Our server is usually Sydney by sheer luck but we're thrilled whenever we get her. Whether it's my husband and I or myself & coworkers- She remembers all our allergies and is so kind and accommodating. She makes us feel like special customers ❤️
This place makes terrific sushi! And it works great as they know the meaning of gluten-free which I have to order for my daughter but her husband loves the regular stuff. They do a fantastic job!
Great pricing. Right next to the gym so it's great and convenient. They have a rewards system. Definitely coming back. The California roll came out in 2 min after ordering at the bar. $7 per roll.
I drive by this place all the time. I finally decided to dine in on my day off! The service was 5 star and food was fresh! Great prices as well! Perfectly seasoned crunchy calamari and the miso soup was perfect! The large portion of unagi roll and cali roll were fresh and so delicious! Best Sushi I've had in a long time! Excellent place with lots of parking! Will definitely be back!
Food was excellent. Service could have been a little more attentive. Atmosphere is like a sports bar with fewer tvs. Since I went for the food, I still give it a 5.
been going here for years. One of the nicest sushi bars in the area.
Been here several times, but never written a review. We came here last time. We got cocomo roll, which was our favorite. Also got the protein roll, which was our second favorite. Happy wife and lazy chef rolls were tasty, but the 1st 2 rolls are our favorite. Overall, probably our favorite sushi place in San Diego. Highly recommended.
We have been eating here for over 10 years now, since they were at another location. The staff is friendly and the food is excellent!
Our server was great. We had a gluten-free person in our party and even though we hadn't told him, he noticed that she was using tamari instead of soy sauce, asked and took back one of her rolls since it had something with gluten in it. Good catch on his part.
I had just finished working out and wanted some sushi (obviously lol). So I ordered from the Sushi Lounge right here in Poway next to the gym. I don’t know if it was from me being tired from the workout or what, but I accidentally ordered from the Rosecrans restaurant! I walked in and told them what I had done. They were extremely helpful and kind. They took care of cancelling the other order and got my order done in record time. Not only great sushi but amazing customer service and overall good people. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Food & staff were great. Sushi was presented well & had great flavor. We will definitely be back 💯
It’s been 10 years since I last was in the area and Poway Sushi Lounge is just as good as it was back then! The half price Mondays are a great deal on some of their best rolls. Service is quick and while the prices are a little higher than some other places, the food is incredibly fresh and the portions are large. Not a ton of music pumping in so even full of people you can still talk easily at the table.
Granddaughter loves Sushi and this is her favorite place. I don’t eat sushi but enjoyed the “potstickers” excellent service and a beautiful patio to enjoy the day. Highly recommend.
We eat here probably too often lol! They are great with our kids. The servers are amazing! The sushi chefs are top notch. I recommend Baja hand rolls and Julio's special (both not on menu😉) your welcome in advance 😜
Such a great lunch! Honestly, we haven’t really been back since the move and the shutdown but we were pleasantly surprised at how dang delicious everything was. (The Cocomo was our least fave though. Never can go wrong with Chronic!) The real cherry on top was our server, Cole. He was top-notch! If you’re there in a Friday lunch, make sure to ask for him!
We've been eating here for years. I can remember when the original location opened well over a decade ago. It's never disappointed. The service and quality of food has always been on point (and quite frankly, a pleasant surprise because nothing else in Poway had really hit the mark like this place). Saturday's impromptu lunch was no different. A couple of rolls - a couple of drinks- and a friendly server. A perfect way to spend an afternoon on Poway road.
Very relaxed outdoor atmosphere, Excellent Food, and Great Service. The waitresses are always attentive, down to earth, and out going! They were very helpful and Attentive when it came to my food allergies in choosing other alternatives! I'm here about once a week! I enjoy the food, the service, you can't go wrong!! Miso Soup and Jasmine Tea a must try Pepper Seared Ahi YUM! Ahi Poke Delicious, and beautifully made if you like spicy, go for the "Ring of FIRE Roll!" Don't Forget to Ask For DESSERT!!😋 Delicious, Good Flavor, Nice Texture!
Brought my little one in for her choice of lunch and she was thrilled and said to give a 5 star review. The garlic edamame was very yummy and flavorful, garlicky enough to impress my little garlic lover. She appreciated the mushrooms in the miso soup and was excited to see they offered a lunch special with fun sounding choices. She chose the caterpillar roll and the crunchy roll to share and they were good. She was so happy to also get a salmon hand roll, I had a hamachi hand roll as well which was very good. The sushi chef was attentive, nice and fast. Our server was also attentive and nice and very engaging to my little one, which is ALWAYS 5 stars to me. The place was conveniently located and easy to find, clean and had plenty of room. We will come back!
Excellent sushi, and sashimi dishes. The rolls are great too! The prices are reasonable for the quality and portions that you get. The service is fast and friendly. The only thing that needs improvement is the time it takes from ordering to getting the food on the table. It was 27 minutes from order to plate. We only ordered the chef's combo sashimi and one roll. Definitely put this restaurant on your list of places to visit.
Great food at a reasonable price, great service and beer/wine selection. Citrus hamachi is spendy but best around. Patio seating is noisy due to proximity to Poway Rd. Four and five star reviews accurate, lower ratings are probably flukes...
Food here is some of my favorite sushi! Staff is underwhelming, every time. If you ask for a beverage with a straw and a lime, expect to have to ask multiple times. On more than one occasion something we order (edamame, rice, miso) doesn’t get sent out and we have to remind them. Also, plan on having to wave your server down for the check. Food recommendations: cucumber salad, red dragon roll, citrus chili yellowtail. *Semi family friendly* We take our kids, they have high chairs, kids menu w/ coloring, kids chopstick helpers ect. but with the service everything seems to take much longer so it’s by the end of dinner kids are over it. (My kids are 6 & 7)
The sushi rolls I've ordered have all tasted great. Minus one star because the rice falls apart too easily. Prices are a little high for what you get.
Sushi is very fresh and delish! Love the Tsunami roll with the ponzu sauce. Waiters are very friendly. Hostess was on the phone for long time before we were seated and place was not busy.
This is a great sushi restaurant. They have a wide variety of choices. They have additional items if you don't like sushi. The service is hit-and-miss which is a shame but all in all it's okay. The food more than makes up for it. Our favorite is the Kokomo roll. If the service were better they would get a five-star rating hands down
Service is good, the restaurant is clean and pleasant, the miso soup was very salty, I let the waitress know, but she just apologized and didn't switch it for a different one or anything.
Really nice sushi restaurant with a nice ambiance. We sat at the bar and got to talk directly with the sushi chef. He took great care of us and made us sushi of his own creation that was amazing. The otoro and black mackerel were delicious too. The only reason the food rating is 4/5 is because the miso soup we ordered had only one piece of tofu and one slice of mushroom. I was a little disappointed in the fact they skimped us on that. Otherwise, a great spot!
We were a party of four for Sushi happy hour on a Tuesday night. We enjoyed the drink and the sushi and the service was appropriate for the environment. Parking was a little scarce, however the hostess was polite and the seating was just right. The waiter never introduced himself though he kept us applied with drink and sushi! If you're in the Poway/RB area and you're looking for sushi this is your place. If you are on a date, don't expect it to be quiet or romantic, however you want go away hungry.
We ordered udon soup noodles, spicy tuna roll, spicy scallop roll, elk roll miso soup, and salad. Rolls are tasty. Upon nood is yummy too but relatively small. People are nice. Both indoor and outdoor settings. The place is clean. Not noisy.
We were planning to dine in for dinner but got delayed running errands and got takeout instead. Everything was well-packed and tasted great. Very fresh and beautifully made.
Food is decent. Not the best sushi around though. Service could be improved. We went last Saturday and the place was almost packed. But there was one server handling all the tables. Also, we were waiting outside for a table that was already empty and cleaned for about 15 minutes before they sat us.
Fast and super friendly service! Each roll was independently creative and tasty and the service was super fast even on a Friday night before a holiday weekend. Service was great gave good recommendations and anticipated our needs well. The only downside the rolls are a little higher priced than other local spots within 5-10 miles. We eat out a lot and this was such a pleasure!
The sushi is fantastic. Lots of options. Good value for the price. Our service was a 1 star. I had to get up multiple times for the server to come over, such as to take our order. I am giving the restaurant the benefit of a good rating because the sushi was so good. Maybe the server was having a bad day. Plan on at least $20/person, reasonable for the area. I'd give 5 stars if the service wasn't so bad.
Fantastic sushi please. We had the albacore, chronic and crunchy roll. Our favorites were the albacore and the chronic. We also had the vegetable tempura which was delicious. All the food came out quickly and our server was very attentive. He also mentioned that most of our rolls are the happy hour menu and we should return next time during happy hour. Happy hour is Tuesday- Sunday 3:30-5:30.
Solid effort: tasty, reasonably priced (had the lunch specials), attentive service, clean bathroom, nice atmosphere. Not the greatest food I've ever had but happy I stopped in and will definitely consider in the future
We had a fantastic dining experience and made it in time for Happy Hour. We began with a refreshing large Sapporo and flavorful Garlic Edamame as starters. Our main course consisted of an assortment of expertly crafted sushi rolls such as Slam Diego, Double Crunch, Albacore Roll, and Spicy Tuna. The rolls were all delicious and left us wanting more.
This review is strictly for their Happy Hour. It is Tuesday - Sunday from 4-6PM. ~ FOOD ~ - Nori Fries: So good! The fries are very crispy and the mayo sauce it came with was delicious. - Spicy Tuna Hand Roll: Not my favorite. They put lots of tuna in it but it just wasn't flavored enough. - Albacore Special Roll: Get this one! It was delicious and my favorite one out of everything we ordered. - The Chronic Roll: Pretty good roll. Lots of avocado which I love. - Shrimp Tempura Roll: Loved all of the sauces on this one. But it was so saucey that it fell apart easily. They also left a layer of paper around it... friend and I thought it was some kind of rice paper but it was just the paper that they use to roll sushi, yikes. - Beers: I believe we ordered the Honey Lager, but I totally forgot the name. They have beers on tap that aren't listed on the menu, just ask. ~SERVICE~ Our server was incredibly friendly. We came at 5pm on a Friday and we got seated right away. As we left, it wasn't too crowded either. Food came out so quick! They have more than enough sushi chefs here. It only took about 5 minutes for our food to come. The restaurant is clean, only con is that the tables are so close together.
Came here for lunch. The lunch options are a bit limited so I got items on the regular menu. Also outdoor dining We got two lunch Items under B for $16.95. The crunchy roll and shrimp tempura roll. I also order Lazy Chef under specialty roll and mixed tempura with shrimp and veggies. The lunch special came with a bowl of soup. The miso soup was super salty and undrinkable. The best roll was the lazy chef. It was deep fried with eel, salmon, avocado and imitation crab. I never get a roll with cream cheese and forgot to tell them to take it out but it worked out. Paired it with the avocado made creamy. Very good. Giving it 3.5 stars because of the miso soup. Rounding to 4.
Pretty good sushi! Was full after 2 veggie rolls (the lounge lizard and the green monster specifically) and a hand roll (the lobster - not my favorite item). The lobster is like a shredded "lobster salad", I just prefer chunks of lobster is all. The Cocomo was delicious and sweet and crunchy. The tasmanian devil was really good with layers of flavor. Not enough salmon on the menu (according to my salmon loving guest) and the specialty rolls were really expensive (paying $16-17 for a special roll, which we usually do at sushi places, wasnt happening here). The parking is ample, and the waiters were very nice and attentive the whole time.
Don't go when busy. We got a table at a reasonable time. Food was okay. My husband ordered a bento box and slowly ate it expecting my 1 roll to come shortly. Unfortunately it didn't show up until he was finished. Definitely was disappointing.
Disappointing. Good sushi but limited options for rolls. Service lacked. Very over rated. RB Sushi much nicer decor and service, with far more rolls and better quality. It may be best in Poway but worth driving bit for better. Sushi chef with 3 bandaged fingers and sloppy knife skills says alot.
Ordered the Ahi Poke because the server said it was a big portion. For $17 it was pretty disappointing... it comes in a martini glass so it wasn't a huge portion at all, the fish and the poke sauce were really bland and almost had a soapy taste to it. Having been born and grew up in Japan for 10 years, this was really low in standards compared to other sushi restaurants in the area. Not sure if the fish was low quality tuna, or something happened with the poke sauce they made. I asked the server if I could have something else, but when she came back she gave us the check and forgot that I asked to order something else. The other food I ordered was decent, but not amazing for a higher price tag.
Pretty good food and Lynn the sushi chef was so polite and awesome! I would have given this place 5 stars but Jaden the hostess was pretty rude and made my gf and I feel very unwelcome! I believe a good host or hostess is important for a establishment like this being that it’s the first face you see while waiting to be seated.
I do like sushi but with cooked or baked seafood items. This place doesn't have options when it comes to that. My boyfriend did like the rolls and would recommend for someone that likes raw seafood.
Standard economy sushi fare. I wish sushi joints would upgrade their food quality just ever so much so that patrons can detect the difference. Food notwithstanding the service was great and I was happy with the overall experience.
Sushi was ok kinda pricey for what it is. Surprised because this place is always busy. Better options as far as quality, guessing the patrons that go here just like smoke and mirrors. I mean it looks nice and and has cool out door dinning but there are better options in poway
I have tried The Sushi Lounge many times, sometimes with friends as a dine in and sometimes as a carry out. I find the quality of rolls lacking flavor, there is more rice per fish ratio. So I feel like the restaraunt is not a good value.
Most of the menu consists of "unique" rolls, but I thought the execution was pretty mediocre. Sauces were watery, leaving the roll sitting in the sauce and becoming difficult to pick up without falling apart. Flavors and textures were mushy and muddled, leaving me to wonder how long they sat out before our server brought them out. Our server forgot about parts of our order, but we just let it go since we were unimpressed with the rest of the food. Won't be coming back, there are too many other good sushi places in town.
Sushi was not great, even Toro was not very good. Above average price, below average sushi, won't be back.
Lunch took 90min. The rice was dry, the lobster California roll was dry and had crushed up shell in it, the spicy crunch roll was good. The miso soup was delicious, but they're completely understaffed for lunch. It seemed as if they were at 90% capacity with 1 server.
i ordered off the gluten free menu and the roll had tempura (gluten) in it. nice looking vegetarian options but they literally poisoned me. if you have allergies, don’t go here.
First time when I came here two years back we really liked the place. Second visit was a big let down , it was Sunday lunchtime and seemed like they were busy. We were told to wait for 5 minutes but instead took 30 minutes. The girl in front seemed very uninterested and was not upfront with the delay and nor apologetic. A simple couple of words of apology would have gone a long way. Food was decent and server was great. I felt unwelcome and would rather go to different place where I feel welcomed
There is no shortage on places to have sushi in San Diego. The new location is nice and bigger. The roll choices didn't impress me. Service was friendly and staff did a good job. I will chose other places solely based on better menus.
Ordered seared albacore sashimi. Consistency of fish pudding, almost inedible. Yellowtail was also mushy and somewhat tasteless. I would not return. Staff was very friendly.
My tuna and salmon sushi was chewy and had a hard connective tissues in the fish. So hard it was hard to bite. No tempura sauce. But best of all my husband who we say has a cast iron stomach through up. We all ate differ thing so he is the only one stuck. Our church number is 10035. Just be careful.
As someone who frequented every Sunday before their move- I have been unimpressed since they switched locations. Not sure what changed but the food isn’t as good as it used to be. I’ve tried twice just recently again and the chicken bento box was dry as hell, the edamame was soggy and the garlic butter they cooked it in tasted burnt. 2 x now and I guess it’s just not for me anymore.
I have come here several times and it is always good, but for the first time I did order a pick up. It was my birthday and my husband passed earlier this year so I wanted to bring home some sushi like we had done a time before, I ordered the Chuck Norris and the Crunchy Roll, and I upgraded it to real crab for an additional $2.50. The Chuck Norris was messy and small and the upgraded crab in the crunchy roll had gone bad. It was fishy and gross smelling when I lifted the first pieces to eat, the wasabi and soy sauce could not override the smell of bad crab. Ruined the night and just reminded me how sad and alone I was. NEVER ORDER TO GO unless you have had good experiences with them, this was my first and last order to go, or ask for the the upgraded crab which was probably the last day it could be used if it was not a day older. Gross. Into the trash it went. It took me a few days to think about posting, I was going to call them to let them know but I figured the kids there would just listen to me with a glazed stare and dribble coming out the side of their mouths and decided against it. Time to find a new sushi restaurant *sigh*
This was my favorite sushi spot. I had been going there for years. Went with my husband for a date night and the manager was so rude! It wasn’t busy and she went to seat us right next to the bathroom. My husband pointed to another table and said “can we sit there?” She then was mad and huffed and said “we have to clean it.” We said we don’t mind. He asked her are you mad ? She tossed our menus on the table and gave him a dirty look and continued to do that throughout our dinner. Then we get our sushi and I grabbed a piece of ginger and there was glass in it! There was like 3 small pieces of glass I spit out. I let the waiter know and he was nice about it. However, the rude manager said nothing. I was more mad about the rude manager than having glass in my food! Such a shame that one bad apple can ruin everything!
