Really cool bar with a concept you don't see in NYC too often. Cool table games like jenga and chess. Also a ping pong table. Check schedule to check out bands and activities. Also they usually have happy hour until 7-8 on weekdays. The only downside side is that it can be a little bit pricey, but other than that highly recommended

Beautiful place, they have two bars and a food truck with some option of food like vegan food, hot dogs and pulled pork, on the bar area you can find cocktails with mezcal, vodka, tequila, spritz and a lot of options of different beers, on the indoor area looks like you entering to another dimension, with all the fog, the red lights, the disco ball, the plants all around the dancing floor and the bar area, i love the bar lights and I recommend the mezcal cocktail in the indoor bar, it’s amazing. Super place.

One of the best clubs to visit. Drinks are priced for nyc. Not horrible prices, usually about $15-20. Outdoor area is a fun hangout spot.

no one is doing it like nowadays. even on busy nights the staff was helpful and available, and the waits for coat check/bar/entrance were short. love the “no talking/phones on the dance floor” rule; it keeps everyone safe and respectful while maintaining a high-energy atmosphere. they book a lot of great dj’s and are one of the only clubs in the area to stay open after 4am. bonus: tacos and donuts sold in the club, and a quiet outdoor area to chill.

Bring a group of friends, completely legit spot for happy hour, grub, and bar games! Staff was very nice to me and kind enough to let me park my motorcycle right out front (so I didn't have to worry about it!) Will come back! Happy hour is 2 for 1 from 5pm -8pm.

Best part/vibe in Brooklyn by people who love and care about the people in their community. No non consensual touching, no photos on the dance floor, no creeps are a few ways they keep you safe. These folx want to feed your body and soul and I am here for it!

I was taken amazing care of by Robert at the Bar and Kenny at the food window. I added steak to a quesadilla and it was insane. I had the most perfect classic margaritas. I'm definitely coming back to try everything. Dope crowd. Outdoor area. Water station. It was my first time here and I will ALWAYS come back!

Went for a DJ set. It's cool that they have a beer garden attached to the club section. So if one isn't your vibe you can go hang in the other.

This party Mister Sunday is one of my favorites during The NYC Summer. Mix fun crowd, and the no cel phone rule at the dance floor makes the vibe even more amazing! GREAT!

The best place on Earth if you love dance music, good vibes and good people. Everyone is friendly, music is great, plenty of food, drinks, etc. Water is always available as well. Highly recommend if you're visiting NYC

Overall, this place overall was amazing! Loved the vibe once you get inside. The only thing you need to know is beware of the door guys as they have a power ego and do not clearly list who they are. They'll kick you out for just asking who they are. At first, it seemed like the person offering tickets was a random scammer.

It’s hard to believe this place exists in Ridgewood. Nowadays is an awesome outdoor venue with funky decor and good vibes. Picnic benches are accompanied by a dance floor and a few bars as well as a food truck. This large open space throws down hard. The quinoa salad is delicious as were the chicken tacos. Come on a Sunday afternoon and be prepared for good times with great people. On Sundays there’s a $20 cover but it’s worth it! Bringing games is encouraged...

outdoor area is elite for summer weekends + outdoor restrooms & food vendors! indoors is a dance haven with a great taco vendor inside that’s open until 3am (no phones on the dancefloor) staff is always looking to help and very friendly - tix ahead of time always recommended

One of the best nightclurbs in New York City. Great custom audio system, tasty cocktails and N/A options, large craft beer selection on tap, and good food options too. Staff are all kind and professional. Lots of regular attendees, lots of familiar faces. Beautiful outdoor space - Mister Sunday afternoon parties in the warm months are the best <3 I love everything about Nowadays except for 3 things... the food and drink prices are getting to be crazy high, it gets really hot indoors when the dancefloor is crowded, and I just really dont like the techno that they play - it all sounds the same to me. Friday nights and Sunday afternoons are usually house music, which I enjoy much more. Dance floor vibes are always A+. I love how they have floor monitors who actually enforce the no-phones-on-the-dancefloor rule. And most of all, I love how queer and unique the crowd tends to be, which speaks to the fact that so many of us feel like it is a safe space to let our freak flags fly. All-in-all , I highly recommend... come judge for yourself.

Came here to dance and was not disappointed!! The drinks are great, I love the giant rosemary sprig that came with mine lol, nice touch. Also had some local beers and wines and danced the night away. Absolutely love that they are so encouraging of consent and safety. The dance floor really is like a jungle, they have fog machines and lights that put you in the zone and make you want to move. Photo is of the bar area at the beginning of the night looking toward the dance floor. Such a cool place. Will definitely be back!

Nowadays provides the blueprints for what a club should be. Impeccable 4 point soundsystem. Dark room with subtle tasteful lighting. No cell phones or conversation on the dance floor. Safe space for all. This venue checks all the boxes for me. Well done Nowadays. Every time I travel to the city, I’ll be looking forward to coming here. Thanks for the good vibes.

Do not go by those 1 star reviews. Those people only write reviews when is convenient for them. But they don't take the time to write positive reviews. Here's my experience and opinion. Group of 11 ( multi racial ) my friend group consisted of Mexicans Puerto Rican Filipinos nigerians and 1 from Nepal. We never experienced racism so no they don't profile you like most of people write about. At arrival we were treated very nice got out tickets scanned and proceeded to the entrance were a very nice employee told us about the place policies. And what to expect. No cell phones On the dancefloor. ( Very good logical cause I don't want to end up in someone ig story ) they let you know how to get to the outdoors , bar areas and where the bathrooms are located . Drinks 🍷 good vive great outdoor amazing . Food good. Price ? Who cares if you don't got money to go out then stay home or who to Applebee's happy hour with water down drinks. The place was super nice. And we as a group felt very safe . So I will totally recommend this place as a top notch.

Such a great space, love the outdoor area and staff are frighteningly beautiful and just as friendly. And people don’t talk about the plants and the coconut water enough. Also the variety cold brew is jet fuel. This place always draws in a friendly crowd. Love the selection of DJs too

The best venue in NYC. I love the music and the environment - super chill vibes. Nice outdoors with cool people. No phone policy on the dance floor is on point. The only downside - waiting time could go over an hour on some occasions if you don't have tix - specially on the weekends. I believe their Taco Birria is the best tacos I've ever had and is worth the try.

This review is about the atmosphere. I did not get a chance to eat or try the drinks but the location is an awesome outdoor venue. There are a lot of working class adults who hang out there. The music is great! I think this may also be a great place to make friends. There are games available to play.

Hit Nowadays for the ultimate Bushwick/Ridgewood escape—sprawling outdoor space feels like a big backyard party, food's tasty (shoutout to the Mexican eats), service keeps things moving, and the energy is welcoming and fun. Perfect for day drinking or night dancing—highly recommend!

We ended up here after a show at Silo so we probably got there at like 2 am, it was the perfect place to go after hours. I'm sure it's great earlier in the night as well. My friend took us here and it couldn't have been more perfect. I love the little speech the give in the front entrance before letting you in, it made me feel safe. Idk if they had food but they have tons of snacks and delicious drinks, they even had coconut water for me because I needed to hydrate. It was such a good experience. The outdoor area is huge and now that I'm remembering I think they had food out there. They had tons of tables and beautiful lighting, they even had fall decorations out there. It was so cozy. I really appreciated that they had bathrooms outside. Then we went indoors to dance and it was such a cool dance floor with plants everywhere and cool lighting on the ceiling. I didn't want to leave! I was wishing they had heat lamps outside (maybe they do). All in all, it was perfect and I'd highly recommend checking it out.

always a blast been coming here since they opened. like all dance clubs they’ve been impeded by frat bros and tim tok girls who come to look at instagram posts but they enforce the rules about no phones on the dance floor well.

Fun venue. Regularly has 12-hour plus events with DJs. Lots of my favorite DJs from Europe end up playing here. Great sound system, and unique atmosphere. Almost feels like a music festival inside. There’s a fairly strict no phone policy, which helps add to the energy of the dance floor. Lots of drink options at the bar. Tons of places to sit down and relax, or even meditate.

S L
S L

Wow, so fun. Went for the first time for an all-nighter and had an amazing experience. It reminded me of places I've been to in Europe. My rating is about the overall experience, but a large part of this rating is because of the staff. While waiting in line there was a guy behind me who was very drunk and he was saying slurs and verbally abusing (who I think) was his girlfriend. One of the bouncer's caught wind of this and told this guy that he and his friend's couldn't go in. He then started yelling racist language at the bouncer and was trying to provoke him into a fight. The bouncer was so level headed and got him out of there. After seeing all that happen, I knew Nowadays was a space space. Nowadays cares about the safety and comfort of their guests, and that's what makes it so good! Some other things I loved: the beautiful (and huge) outdoor space, the no-phones on the dance floor rule, the friendly people. Will definitely be back. Thank you Nowadays staff ❤️

Everything in this club is right. From the friendly & welcoming staff at the door, to clean toilets, one of the best soundsystems I heard & even tacos in the club! went twice during my week in NYC and hope to be back soon. No phones & conversations on the dancefloor. real shit.

Visited here 1 time in 2019 from Japan. I had no idea how enjoyed night clubs in NYC this time trip. And the main event for me was on the next day, Saturday. That was Rhadoo from Romania. Found this night club at RA mobile. Nowadays, Jay Daniel & more. Made sure of coming here tonight. At the door, I read some regulations in this club. Guessed the possibility of committing a crime was higher than in Japan. Entering with a little anxiety. I purchased some beers at the bar and danced a lot. 2 of DJs were so nice & I talked some young people at the out side deck. When I entered it about 0:30 midnight, then it started snowing. But I thought easily it would stop soon. No problem. After dancing & drinking a lot around 6:30 AM, noticed there were much more snow & keeping snowing. I was shocked & shamed NYC was so cold. Connected to Uber & got to my hotel. That was my great memory in NYC.

I had an incredible time at the Nonstop party at Nowadays! Kilopatrah Jones's house set was fire, and she's definitely an artist to watch. The crowd was friendly and all about the music, and the venue itself has a great mix of indoor and outdoor space. Love the free water stations and the plants everywhere. I went at noon and stayed way later than planned – it was hard to leave! Make sure you dress comfortably (dark colors fit the vibe) and get ready for a seriously good dance experience.

Had an epic time at Mister Sunday. The line was crazy long though because they insisted on giving every group of 10 people going in a speech about not using phones on the dance floor (fair enough). Bathrooms were ok. Food options were ok. Drinks were pretty expensive. $10 beers. Good vibe though.

Great place to dance and relax and even have a awesome afterparty. They have a hugr backyard to hangout and huge backyard area to rest and or catch some sun. They also sell food outside and inside. One of my Fav Summer Spots 😁

Cool spot to get a drink, listen to some good music, play some games and enjoy your time with your friends. The outdoor is spacious with a lot of seating. There's some hammocks scattered about, benches and seats of different types. The food is not bad at all. The drinks are good too.

4/4⭐️ sports bar. Nice wide open space for viewing via a large projector screen. Large speakers for good sound quality. Good variety of drinks served in plastic glasses because you know, supporting sports can get a bit rowdy. 1/4 ⭐️ restaurant. The food is terrible. Hands down the worst fish and chips I've ever had in my life. The fish was fresh and undercooked and the fries were too salty and lukewarm at best. I had to really drag myself through that meal cause at $16 I wasn't throwing that out.

A

Reserved a fire place - glad I did because it got crowded (by my COVID standards lol)! Couldn’t relate to the music at all, but it was relaxing. The pitcher of margarita to me was not worth it, but it was delicious. I think the beer compliments the food better anyways. Food was pretty good! I got the chicken sandwich with fries 🙂

Posh: 🍾🍾 Kinsey: 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 The cover ranges based on when you enter and if you got a discounted ticket. If you enter before midnight and have the discounted ticketed, you pay $10-15. Otherwise, tickets can be upwards of $40. There are no tables for bottle service but there are tables for eating as there’s a small restaurant in the venue. The male:female ratio is roughly even. The main rules enforced are no leering/staring, no talking on the dance floor, no phones on the dance floor. Most people abide by the first and third rule and there a staff throughout the venue that are accessible so if someone makes you feel uncomfortable, you can file a complaint. The patrons are very diverse and clothing does not follow a particular style. However, the club can feel isolating if you go by yourself because people tend to socialize more in cliques than other clubs in Brooklyn. Music was an equal balance of house and techno.

Not a crazy party dance club. Perfect to get high and vibe at, but if you want high energy find somewhere else. Great environment and atmosphere. Cover was around $35, if you get the reservation you have until 12am to GET INSIDE for that price, that includes waiting in line time.

psa: look up who the dj is before getting in line. nowies is a great venue with lovely outdoor space and a good dance floor, but the new line people should be fired. they tried to deny our entire group entry because my friend didn’t know who was djing. not only is this line of questioning insufferable, it’s also incredibly stupid bc its easy to just look up the dj before getting in line. if you’re going to discriminate based on vibes, just be upfront about it.

W

Nice place. Has potential... really smokey due to the DJ there. Bartender automatically took the total money off the bar. 17 off a $14 tab. Don't like how she assumed it was hers. Guinness was a single pour. It was ok

M

The good: the greenery is absolutely beautiful in here. So many hanging plants and vines. Large space and on a Saturday afternoon there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The not so good: we came to try the Evil Twin releases and the beers were poured in plastic cups and super light pours. Most of the pours were actually foam and they didn’t even bother to top it off or let it settle to actually fill up. $5 per half a taster felt like a rip off especially coming here right after visiting Bridge and Tunnel Brewery which priced a very full pint for the same price. The bad: wanted a snack so ordered the large fries. The large fries was a small paper tray so not so large. But it’s ok because we couldn’t even finish it because it was so salty. I felt like we actually ordered a large tray of salt topped with some fries.

C
Confessions of a Food Freak

Super cool vibe but the food vendors are soooo weak. Went for mister Sunday and the chicken banh mi bowl was the only thing that was good. And we ordered one of everything. The other things had no flavor. And the girl working was a little snobby. But the venue itself is great and they have an amazing selection of IPA’s and cocktails.

We went for the Four Tet show. Making ticket holders wait over an hour in 20 degree weather was criminal, but not compared to the overcrowding and poor acoustics that made up the musical portion of the experience. Two stars for the well poured Guinness I enjoyed, but I guess I could’ve gone to a bar for cheaper and would’ve left with my hearing. I don’t think we’ll go back.

A

I recently visited Nowadays on my yearly trip to NYC from SF, and honestly, I was pretty disappointed. A small sober group of mixed friends felt singled out when a shorter white hipster bouncer wouldn’t let us in just because one friend couldn’t name the DJ. We were told to wait two hours due to capacity, yet random people without tickets were getting in ahead of us as we initially waited for about 1 hour and were not asked about the DJ performing . I’ve loved this place for its inclusive vibe over the years, so it felt off to be treated like that. I get crowd control is important, but this experience was just strange and frustrating since it felt like a personal attack on character that I was not fully aware of . Hope they can do better!

M
Melinda Hu

I normally don’t write reviews / have loved the music at Nowadays, but I want to point out that even if you arrive to the line by the 12am cutoff and have the RSVP sign-up, they *might not let you in* / will make you wait in the long non-ticket/RSVP line - it was really disappointing because my friend and I were there before midnight, approx the same time as the couple before us, but the door staff decided to stop entry right at us (it felt a bit personal ngl since the door staff reached the couple before us to check their RSVP after midnight technically too). They do say on the RA event page that entry is at the discretion of the door staff, so I’m trying to spread the word to arrive at least 30 min before midnight, so yall can avoid a disappointing night like ours. I felt the door staff was not kind in communicating that we couldn’t be allowed to enter, so we left.

I think theres a little bit of everything for everybody in NY, the club has a nice atmosphere for the dance floor but once you step out the yard + the long long hours open … It gets creepy and a bit sad… you see people there or Around for days and it makes me wonder if they are okay Sending love. ❤️

Music was fine but the staff are incredibly stuck up and riding a power trip. Two different employees wouldn’t tell me where the exit was when asked, with one of them was just blatantly ignoring me. Also, $50 for a ticket on a weekday for mid is insane. Not going back.

A. Morin

first time going over halloween, it was fun but im not sure I would go back… the venue itself is honestly really small, dance floor was MUCH smaller than expected. if you’ve been to basement, this is about 10% of their floor plan. its a tiny tiny spot. theres also a constant use of a smoke machine, which is a vibe for about 5 minutes, after that it makes it impossible to see anything. the staff itself was not welcoming or friendly at all, which is unfortunately kind of a standard. in their little speech before letting you in, they said that there are employees with glowing red wristbands walking around that you can go to if you dont feel safe or if someone is making you uncomfortable. we were there for 4 hours and never saw a single glowing red wristband…wont be back.

I went to Nowadays a few years ago and it was great but it got so bad with its popularity. I went there with a friend at 11:15, both with RSVP (to get in before 12). The line was crazy but we waited patiently until 1:15am (so yes 2h). We knew by then we would probably have to pay the $35 for entrance even though we had RSVPed but after waiting so long we just wanted to get in no matter what the price was. When we finally get to the bouncer (who let a big group of people going in before us without question), they asked us the name of the party, which we knew, and then asked the name of the djs playing later that night. We had no idea and simply got rejected after waiting 2h with RSVP booked 1 week earlier. These clubs, by wanting to be inclusive (which I strongly support), are turning into parody of themselves refusing anyone who is not queer enough to get in. Not sure about how efficient this is for your image guys. I know i’m not coming back though.

The people at the door are so extremely rude. My friends and I went. The rest of my friends came a few minutes after while we were waiting on the line. The man at the door asked who they were here to see, which DJ my friends didn’t know because I had made the plan and they had never been there but because they didn’t know who was DJing the man said “people die to see this dj, you’re not coming in. Because my friends didn’t know who was DJing that night, they said we all cannot attend. I have never heard of such a thing. On top of that they were so mean even after that. Trying to kick us into the street, giving an issue about refunding us the cover. Never again would I ever go there

This place is ok but, I went out for buying cigarets and can’t come back for no reason to meet my European friends, with unchurched phones, and they don’t care, saying that we don’t care about your problems, I spent a lot of money in that venue and deserves a lil bit of respect but everything what I heard from them “don’t care about your problems “ avoid this place

Rude and mean. Waited in the line for over an hour and when I got to the front I mentioned that I needed to use the bathroom. One of the ladies escorted me to the bathroom in the backyard, and once I went and came out, I found some friends who were already there who I ended up chatting with for a bit. Then when it came to going inside, I wasn’t allowed in since I didn’t have a wristband. I explained what had happened and how I was allowed to use the bathroom, and they told me I had to go all the way to the back of the line again! I tried to describe the girl that escorted me, but the whole time they were being so rude and condescending, laughing at me and saying that maybe I should just go home. My friends were already inside and the line looked longer than when I had first arrived. I didn’t get why I had to go on the line again and have to wait again when I had already been through the whole process. Why couldn’t they just let me pay to go in? Never coming to this place again

Had a horrible experience at Nowadays on Pride (6/29/25) for their Mx Sunday event. Myself and three queer friends arrived around 6PM with our pre-paid tickets in hand ($40 each). After lining up & passing through extensive bag checks, we pulled up to the “door person”. We did not notice that there was a painted blue line on the ground to indicate where we wait. After stepping a foot on the line, we were yelled at for touching it. We all immediately stepped behind the line, now understanding the protocol, but we made some offhanded comments to each other about how intense the security was (nothing at all disrespectful to staff). Immediately afterwards, the person manning the door approached us yelling that “we needed to go to the back of the line and try again”. Allegedly we were “disrespecting their line” (grossly exaggerated). Despite extensive apologies, we were aggressively DENIED entry–other staff members claimed they had to listen to the “door person’s” call. When regrouping many feet away from the entrance, we were shooed down the block by security. They claimed we would get refunds but we have yet to see any movement on this. I am looking forward to spending my time & money supporting the many other NYC clubs that are inclusive, Queer centered, and more fun. Will not be coming back to Nowadays. Hope the organizers fix this & stop treating people poorly (clearly this is a common occurrence given the many bad reviews).

Our group of friends bought tickets to see Wata Igarashi last night, but were refused entry at the door by the manager and a bouncer, rudely and condescendingly, for not seeming to know or like the DJ enough. When asked who we were here to see, one of our group answered, correctly, but the bouncer insisted that everyone should have answered independently. Although I understand that some clubs do “vibe checks”, those who wish to do so should not sell tickets ahead of time, as it implies a generally guaranteed spot to ticket holders, barring any unforeseen circumstances or belligerent behavior. As a big group going out in NYC, we had deliberately looked for a good event that we could buy ahead of time and had arranged group transportation. While some of the group knew the DJ and some did not, we are all fans of dance music and are fun and responsible partygoers—and seeing music live is a great way to discover new artists and tastes. Wata Igarashi could have gained some new fans, but instead Nowadays has alienated potential customers.

The music and vibes were sreat but the bathrooms and sanitation were absolutely vile. Someone projectile vomitted all over one bathroom and the other bathroom had piles of vomit and waste in and around the toilets. They went most of the night without cleaning the mess and the staff were rude and unresponsive. The intense humidity in the rest of the club is nauseating especially with the scent of bodily fluids trekked in on people's shoes from the bathrooms. Not worth the $35 ticket.

Absolutely do not recommend this venue. Very underwhelming interior, dusty outdoor area, and poor personnel. It is not worth going out of your way to come here, save the trip.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My friends and I visited on 8/17 and had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a venue. We waited well over an hour in the “tickets” line without any communication from staff, despite multiple people leaving the club right in front of us. When I asked security and staff what was going on, I was given vague excuses about a “shift change” and told it would only be 20 minutes. That turned into nearly two hours of being ignored. The person working the front at that time — a tall, thin gentleman in a cowboy hat — was dismissive, rude, and made no effort to update anyone in line. Instead, he told me it “wasn’t his job” to explain and brushed me off. The lack of organization, communication, and professionalism from both staff and management is unacceptable. Venues like this should respect their customers’ time instead of treating people as if they don’t matter. Management seriously needs to address this.

I dont know how this place has 4.4 stars considering the large amount of bad reviews. In my 8+ years of living in NYC, this is the first place I've been to that I saw first hand discriminate against potential patrons in the most insidious way. Person at the front door will 1.) ask you why you're there and then 2.) tell you that there are other places you can go to besides theres and then 3.) ask you if you know anyone playing tonight. The sequence itself, tone and the contemptuousness is dehumanizing. Beware this can happen to you even if you've been there before. They can even do it to specific members of a group and let some get in and deny others. You should look through all the 1 star reviews. There's other things about this place that are not negative but I just cant look past such mean spirited, contemptuous behaviour.

E
Eva Bianchi

Their RSVP system is extremely flawed. Either show up at least one hour before your RSVP or don’t bother showing up if you don’t have GA tickets — your RSVP will be treated as if you had no ticket, and since it looks like they don’t know how many tickets they can sell per night, you’ll just be waiting in line with all the people with no tickets and it will probably reach capacity before it’s your turn. Probably a tactic to make the space seem more desirable and exclusive by having a huge line outside.

Gone too far Bartender refused to serve us because it was not clear whether we were waiting for a drink or just chatting. They could have asked. We clarified we were chatting whilst waiting for a drink. He/they then refused to serve us because the energy was "not right". We asked if we could put it past us and he/they refused to serve us, and then called security and had my friend who questioned this unreasonable behavior kicked out. This was early into the night, bar was not busy, totally totally unecessary abuse of nowadays "ethics code" ruining a what was otherwise a special night out. i am all for being respectful- in this instance it was impossible to reason with bar tender and once security got involved there was only one way - out, putting into question whether in the name of respect things have gone a bit out of control...

RSVP’d and came with a small group for my girlfriend’s birthday. We had good vibes and were there to dance. Bouncer singled out my girlfriend and grilled her on which DJs were playing, which was ridiculous as he didn’t ask other people that question and this DJ is a total nobody with only 6k listeners on Spotify. All we wanted is to have a good time and dance. We’ve gotten in at much harder doors in NYC (we do our best to be friendly, dress well, and bring good vibes) and so experiencing this at Nowadays was disappointing as it was my gf’s birthday.

i’ve come for mister sundays before and never had an issue. came for nonstop with the rsvp before midnight and showed up at 11 pm. my group was denied entry because we didn’t know the DJ. the bouncer was so rude even though i explained we just wanted to dance. i’m big in the music scene and have never experienced this before, in fact it’s common to let new people in to experience new music. don’t waste your time.

My friends and I showed up on 7/25 to see Wata Igarashi--tickets in hand, good vibes ready. We chose Nowadays specifically because it's supposed to be an inclusive, welcoming venue. Turns out that inclusivity ends at the door. We were a big group, excited for the night. Enter: the "manager" (quotation marks doing a lot of work here, because actual management requires basic competence and professionalism). They ask who we're there to see. One friend answers--cool, right? Apparently not. That answer was treated like some kind of secret password, and suddenly only she is "allowed" in while the rest of us get told to leave. No explanation. Just a smug, dismissive wave like we were trying to sneak into a VIP party we paid to attend. I speak up and ask why our friend couldn't answer on our behalf. The manager replies, "Well, I would never allow someone else to speak for me." I respond "Well I have absolutely no problem with that." They have no comeback, of course. Just silence... followed by the now-predictable, dramatic "you can leave now," like we were uninvited extras on their personal power trip. Let's connect the painfully obvious dots here: packed house, pre-paid tickets, and a "manager" mysteriously filtering out groups at the door. Couldn't possibly be because they wanted to resell those spots at surge pricing, right? No, definitely not that. Just your classic, scummy, dishonest, and probably illegal move disguised as "door policy." Also--since when is knowing the DJ a requirement for entry? God forbid people discover new music without passing a pop quiz on Wata Igarashi's discography. This isn't some exclusive Midtown nightclub with a velvet rope and bottle service. It's just a venue with a fragile ego standing at the door.

Turned away the entire line cause people didn’t know every detail of the DJs playing. The vibes have majorly dropped off over the last 5 years I’ve gone here. Take your smiles and good energy somewhere that will receive it

Paid 35$ to get in on a rainy night and then lost my wristband and the head security just grabbed me and brought me outside and wouldn’t listen to a thing I said. Head security was just looking for a reason to be mad. Save your time if you don’t wanna have to stress about being at a place

one person in our group didn’t know who the DJ was and the refused to let him in so our group said nope we’re all leaving 12 of us. i don’t think the manager realized he was with such a large group but doubled down was incredibly rude and the. tried to get us to “donate our tickets” instead of refunding, we obviously refused. don’t bother coming here. long list of rules… staff inside looking for a reason to kick you out when you get in. staff is incredibly rude. this place is begging for a lawsuit.

This club really reflects the real problems about gentrification in bushwick. The vibe, the sound as well as the people does not mix up as they shoud. It really made me feel bad.

I had a friend not allowed in. I stepped out to see what was going on and was immediately banned from being let in even though I had Paid for a ticket and was completely well behaved. This place is disgusting in terms of how it treats people. Never ever come here

Save your money. Bought tickets just to be manhandled by security at the door while putting a wrist band on. Forced to stand in the freezing cold for like 10 minutes only to get in and see a basically empty bar. $15 shots and the absolute nastiest service I have EVER received. I get that it’s a holiday weekend and it’s late, but y’all are bartenders. Comes with the job. Finally, the music was terrible, just haunted house sounds over a techno beat. There’s a million other places in NYC that you can get ripped off for cheaper.

Grace Young

Bouncers were incredibly rude and standoffish. One dropped something she was holding and made my friend pick it up?? After that we were led into a tiny tiny room where we were instructed by staff to not be discriminatory or touch anyone without their consent. Which are obviously great rules but usually don’t need to be said. if you have to preface a venue with that it makes me wonder what goes on. Went through all that to spend 27$ on two well shots and be treated very rudely by bartenders when I asked if a guy had touched my drink while she poured it. Outside area is nice but the dance floor/djs and bar were horrible.

I don't think the ratings here are accurate. It's one of the worst places I've ever been to. The staff is incredibly rude. I saw it on the New York recommended places forum and went. I realized the person who recommended it was an employee there when I saw it there. You might have chosen this shoddy, staff-heavy establishment because you wanted to have fun and spend quality time with your friends. My only wish for you is that you have a better experience than I did.

Lynda Qin
Lynda Qin

Horrible, pretentious people at the door that will not let you in unless you know exactly which DJs are playing at that exact moment, regardless if you came to see a different artist. This establishment is the antithesis of what the New York music scene is about - discovering new, unknown artists at fun venues with your friends. I was in a group of 6 people and Nowadays bouncers cost every DJ there the opportunity to gain more fans tonight. Absolute disgrace of a music venue.

Caroline Addeo
Caroline Addeo

I’ve visited Nowadays several times and had always considered it a safe and welcoming space. However, tonight’s experience was incredibly disappointing. After purchasing tickets, we were approached with a gatekeeping attitude, essentially a "who do you know here?" moment, and because we didn’t recognize the DJ by name, we were removed from the line. We were nearly denied a refund simply because we couldn’t identify the DJ after being unexpectedly turned away. My friends and I have always supported local DJs and artists, and it’s deeply upsetting to be excluded from a space that claims to be inclusive and community-driven. If you value acceptance, respect, and genuine inclusivity, I strongly urge you to reconsider going to this venue.

A major disappointment. I had heard good things about Nowadays and I was excited to go, but I don’t think I’ll go back. I attended the Mister Sunday event with my friends. At Nowadays, I saw at least 5 children and infants. I am not sure why they were there and how the venue allowed parents to bring their kids to a clubbing venue. One kid tried to take my alcohol drink. Honestly a vibe kill. Music was bad. Bathroom was dirty and disgusting. Overall, wouldn’t recommend.

Luis M

This place used to be real. Now it's become mad corny. They give you speeches before you go in and preach safe space rhetoric. I was discriminated against because of my religious conviction. I got to the door and the security person did not respect the fact that I have an idé - a religious article, a bracelet that represents something spiritual on my wrist. She insisted on placing the band around my wrist and when I asked if other accommodation could be made, she said well what you want to do..either I put this on your wrist or you can't get in. No conversation, no discussion, no attempt at understanding. This just seems to fly against the mantra of what this place is trying to project. When they first started they were about something organic but now the place is played out. The outdoor park is nice but the club is contrived and artificially curated, nothing spontaneous. It's for hipsters, and cats that don't know what the New York City dancing is really about. Wake up and see it for what it really is... CORNY.. for hipsters only. You know who You are.
