Always a warm welcome as if they have been waiting to see you. Extensive menu. Sopa de mar which has a kick to it will cure what ails you. Gluten free options. Pitchers of margaritas.
Being from SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, we didn't expect such GREAT Mexican food in the NY Hudson Valley . DEFINITELY will visit again when in the area 😊 !! Highly recommend ! Our friends who live here shared their love of Cancun Mexican Restaurant 😍
The food is amazing the service incredible the lighting, perfect relaxing
Such a pretty atmosphere.. Very friendly staff, we were not overly excited about the taste of the foods as they weren't seasoned with any salt but I would give it a second try
Fabulous fabulous food! Huge portions! Place is so colorful and fun! Highly recommend!!
Great place! They do rush you to get out. Food is great! Best Margaritas! And they will eventually come around with a free round of tequilas 😉
dinner here was so much fun - the food was delicious and the serice was fast. they were family friendly and had high chairs, kids menus and crayons ready for my toddler.
What a spot! Nicest staff. Great food. Great vibes. I'd go there every night if I wasn't scared of how fat I'd get.
Great food, fun atmosphere, and quality service. Friendly and welcoming staff
Great Place to eat 😋! The food was delicious 😋. I make guacamole really delicious but this restaurant came very close to the way I make it. I really enjoyed myself and my family recommends this place too. ❤😋❤😋 La comida es muy deliciosa y me gusto mucho el guacamole 😋👍🤗
Cancun is my favorite authentic Mexicant area!! There is a a new Mexican restaurant by my road that just opened up, And they are way more expensive then Cancun... I've been going here for very long. I've lived back and forth here from NYC, Albany, Poughkeepsie.. they are the real deal with Mexican Food 🥑 I will forever be a fan. Me and my family are Italians. We like to eat!! Cancun gives great quality and effort everytime! Good amount of food. Milo and Kristina are amazing!!! I love when I see them!!! Very welcoming!!! Cancun's is my favorite!!
Best Mexican food I eaten in a long time. A must place you should go. Employee a friendly. It is clean . There is a bar.
First time eating there and it is now my favorite Mexican place. Great service and delicious food.
Staff is super friendly and considerate. Food is really good, though I wish it were spicier (can I request that things be spicier?). Quality place.
I want to empty my savings and spend everything g I’ve got to buy a house within a half mile of this joint so I can drink margaritas and eat delicious food every night while watching the Yankee game at this top shelf bar. Let me rephrase this, I want to be inside of you.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The place was clean. The original artwork on the chairs and tables created conversation. The food was very good and huge portions. I would definitely go back and try another meal.
This astonishing place was not our desired destination but we decided to stop in for a drink while we were waiting around town and couldn't resist falling in love with every detail. From the staff to the food to the decor to the drinks, this may be our new favorite place. We have been really bummed but understanding about not being able to travel to Mexico this year and I am pretty sure we just stepped out of a local Mexican joint. They transformed us from a humid NY day to a refreshing bright vacation. You will not go wrong with anything you order! They have the best appetizer sampler I have ever had from anywhere and these are actually something from menus I tend to dislike. Our server was beyond friendly and love that everyone spoke Spanish with us so we could practice (husband being pretty fluent, me starting to learn). The tequila sunrise was the best drink I have had outside of a few drinks in Italy. I insist you stop by and at least have a margarita and bean dip! Queso Fresco is a huge plus, I am pretty sure it is a gift from the heavens! Gracias!
Quiet Mexican restaurant on RT 9 8n Rhinebeck N.Y. Service is friendly and professional, the atmosphere is cozy and clean. The food is great for those who love Mexican food. The food is well prepared and full of great flavor. The lighting is on the dark side but it is lit enough to see everything, I like it, it was a pleasant experience. I recommend Cancun's as a great place to dine in and out.
Had lunch here and it was delicious! I had their steak fajita taco salad. It wasnt too heavy and there was just enough spices to vegetables and meat. If you like onions this salad was loaded with them! Also great guacamole and the chips and salsa were good too. Lol
Good food. Arrived pretty quickly. Very clean. Service is attentive. My partner and his friend felt they were too attentive. Servers were friendly. Someone knocked over a glass and dumped ice across the table and into the floor. They had it cleaned up so fast it was remarkable. I was craving tlayuda after a recent trip to Oaxaca. They have a couple traditional dishes but most everything else is texmex. Margaritas were great, specifically partner loved his jalopeno margarita.
Excellent hospitality, always taking care of us when we go. Food is average Mexican restaurant food but nothing bad to say
Really good Mexican food with quick, friendly service. They have many favorites, but their ceviche is truly outstanding. Absolutely on a par with what you would expect to get in Mexico (without the travel) or in a top-rated Mexican or seafood restaurant in NYC.
This is one of my favorite places. I am a frequent customer. When it comes to Mexican food I am very picky having lived in Mexico. The seafood soup is never disappointing. The enchiladas suizas are great as is the Shrimp Ajo. The guacamole is always a plus. Portions are generous. Servers are friendly and attentive. If you are in the area and want a good place to eat where food is made to order, tasty, always fresh - this is a good choice.
I've had the good fortune to have had a few meals here now. What a pleasant surprise to find such tasty Mexican food and delicious Margaritas in a picturesque small town in the Hudson Valley. I've had the good fortune of eating in a few different regions of Mexico .. and like other countries, there is a varied flavor palette throughout. Therefore I'm always pleased when a restaurant doesn't rely upon on the standard Mexican American fare of Tacos and Burritos or TexMex .. but also has excellent options that can tempt us to try different options. This is one of those places .. wonderfully kitchy in it's decor and food that would make their grandmothers proud. Don't get me wrong .. we've had their Burritos and enchiladas, etc, as well, but the shrimp and other seafood options have been cooked perfectly .. the different chicken and beef options, have all been full of flavor without tasting like they were all made with the same flavor packet .. and the sauces, have had complex flavor without just relying on hot spice. A few different restaurants have come and gone from this location over the years .. let's hope this one stays .. it's a definite keeper! P.S. I've been told that the guacamole was not so good the other night .. but I know that the flavor of guacamole can be subjective to everyone's particular taste and that sometimes it's the avocados that are not quite right .. as I don't like either, at anytime, I cannot personally comment on it.
Great service! Friendly, attentive, welcoming. Oh, and food was pretty good too :). All the food was fresh, veggies were crisp. Definitely coming back.
Excellent food, short wait once you place your order, incredible drinks, excellent service from all employees, truly care about their customers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Consistently amazing food and service. Ive been going here for years and the staff is phenomenal. Margaritas are amazing, and the food is always top notch. Get the baja chicken quesadilla! You won't be disappointed.
I went here tonight with one of my friends and had an amazing time. Armando went above and beyond with his service and we will definitely be returning for Margaritas and Jalapeños!
We have been going for four years. Every time was a great experience. Great food, great service, you can feel the kindness and warmth which says a lot.
Great food. Great service. Best Mexican restaurant I’ve tried.
Great Food, nice setting, staff is great very attentive! We’ve been there on many occasions. Cool drink selections.
Always a pleasure! Wonderful family run restaurant. A Red Hook gem! Large portions that are hard to finish. Great President e Margaritas!
Great place! Always wonderful service and great food. We ordered the steak burrito and chicken fajitas and my kids had the quesadillas. And the staff is always so nice to my kids!
The food is definitely authentic, I recommend the mole sauce on their assorted menu items, it is delicious. The atmosphere is fun and festive, especially when the mariachi band is playing on Sundays. Finally, the service is very good, they are really nice and very accommodating for larger parties. All in all, a really great experience.
The decor inside is bright and inviting. The service is fast and the food is very good. Very welcoming atmosphere. If you go there multiple times, it's not just your imagination - the format of the menu really does seem to change each time!
Our family of 8 ate there a couple weeks ago. Ordered guacamole, chips, appetizers, and several entrees. My chicken burrito, and sides were awesome!!! Tasty bean dip and salsa, too. Will definitely return next time we are in the area.
Delicious food, friendly staff, quick service! Thank you!
Attentive service. Really good food and a lot of it. The dessert platter, fried ice-cream and a lot of other goodies I won't try to spell . Awesome margaritas. The tequila platter I don't know if that was their well or something higher shelf but wow it was good. Can't wait to get down there again. Gracias! And again, AWSOME!
Love the food here and the portions are large enough to share or take leftovers home for another meal the next day. The staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is colorful and inviting and is a great place to meet with friends for a meal.
Such fast service! I got the queso and a quesadilla both tasted pretty good! I was really surprised. However I (and my boyfriend) didn’t taste any alcohol margaritas. But overall, great trip and would go again!
Yum! So good, just had a delicious meal here, party of 6, waitstaff was super attentive, right on top of anything we needed. Happy to see they had a burger and fries for our pittle picky eater. Had a combo meal and have enough for dinner too!
This is an outstanding Mexican restaurant in an area that you would not expect. People standing around outside on Friday night. Was told 15 minute wait for 2 but was seated just as our drinks from the bar were delivered. Complimentary salsa and chips with refried beans were fresh. Food was amazing good and huge portions. I'm a big guy and rarely leave anything behind but we needed 2 take home boxes. Best I've ever had and I have been around.
Food was amazing for dinner. I had this delicious chicken dinner. So flavorful and huge portion size. I couldn't even finish half of it. I took it home and had it for lunch the next day. Then give you complimentary chips, salsa, and bean dip. Would totally eat her again.
Armando and staff were amazing ! Cold drinks kept coming all of our entrees where hot tasty and delicious Best place to celebrate my daughters 18th Bday ! They even sang for her and brought ice cream dessert!, while a huge sombrero … so much fun. Many Thanks!!!
Everything is freshly made and oh so delicious and authentic. The huge portions are unbelievable! The waitstaff are totally on top of everything from the time you arrive until you leave. I just can't say how much we enjoy the personal service we get everytime we dine there. Love, love, love this place. Best we've had outside of Mexico.
Food was absolutely delicious, drinks delectable, staff was incredible and atmosphere was amazing. It’s my 5th time dining there this past year and I this will always be my go to place! I highly recommend to everyone! You will NOT be disappointed! Thank you everyone! My friends and I had an amazing time tonight with the best people in town!
The service was fantastic and the food was delicious
Such a amazing restaurant. The food is amazing and great serving sizes. The drinks are always so good and the staff are super super friendly. I highly recommend this place if your looking for a great place to eat.
This is a gem! Delicious food, great drinks, good prices. Our server was the perfect combination of helpful and not intrusive. The decor is charming—colourful and vivid without being garish. The ambiance was that of a comfortable family place where everyone hangs out. If I lived nearby I would eat here often. We were spending one night in town and were thrilled to find such a great place to eat.
Wish I could give more stars. This place was great, the food was amazing the best Mexican food in the area. The food here was fresh authentic and tasted phenomenal. I went with my girlfriend and got lunch there, it is now among my favorite restaurants. The bean dip is the best I have ever had the portions are huge you really get your money's worth. The place is very clean and beautifully decorated. The service was great never have I been so fully satisfied by a restaurant. The waiter and host were friendly and attentive. They start you off with water and warm fresh chips, two dip options. The menu is big and so many choices it was hard to choose. The food was so good I cleaned my plate and my girlfriend ate as much as she could but still had leftovers. I can't wait to go again. The food 10 out of 10 the service 10/10 and atmosphere 10 /10. The music and surroundings gave an authentic feel, the bar was beautiful and the tables, chairs, and overall color scheeme was beautiful.
I have eaten here for years and always leave full and satisfied. The guacamole is amazing. My family also loves the queso. Margaritas are tasty. Service is great-fast and friendly. No matter what we order here, we’re always happy. Good Happy Hour specials too.
The food here is always good with a generous serving for a great price. Service is always quick and friendly. Usually not much of a wait, but if you go on a weekend evening, it's usually packed, and for good reason. Always a reliable place to go when looking for a good meal. Margaritas are pretty good too!
Thomas was our server and he was great! We really enjoyed our time because of him.
Great food, generous portions, friendly and attentive staff!
The Food tastes like homemade the music was a little loud but place Is very comfortable
What a phenomenal meal! Make sure you bring a hearty appetite to the table. The staff are very attentive and the food is delivered artistically, hot, fresh and delicious. The menu offers something for everyone of varying palettes. Cocktails are tasty and refreshing. Definitely a return trip in the future.
I love the food here! I come here every year for my birthday, graduations and everything else! The food is yummy and so are the drinks! Everything so reasonably priced for the amount of food they give you! The customer service, waiters, and waitresses are always amazing. I am a big sweets girl and I love their desserts. Everything has so much flavor. I would 10/10 recommend.
Great food, drinks and service with reasonable prices. I've never had something I didn't enjoy. What more could you want!
Great food, courteous staff. Very good place to eat with family and friends
Delicious!!! The chips and salsa are to die for. The meals are large and filling. I'd say prices are a tad higher than other authentic places we've eaten but worth it since it's location is so convenient.
Really good Mexican food, the atmosphere is great, I enjoyed the color scheme makes you feel like you're in Mexico. The chairs are also decorated. The food and drinks spot on. I would go back to this place again and recommend it to my friends.
Food was good but I'm still asking myself why they got Latin customers in one side and whites costumers in the other side? Maybe it was just a coincidence. Beside that fact, the service was good. It took a bit long to get our check at the end.
We were out and about and in heading home we wanted a bite to eat. I thought Mexican. We stopped at Cancun. We'd been there when they first opened-it was good. The restaurant setting is appealing. The food was very good, and the plates were quite full.
Delicious, well prepared food. Service was good, even though it was a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was thinly staffed. Salsa a bit weak. Chips hot and fresh. Refried bean dip served with chips is amazing! All of our orders were accurate and very well seasoned. Would love to give that last star, but the salsa was memorably lacking in body and flavor. I shall still return, because in relation to the other foods, this must have been an oversight.
First time there. I was most impressed with the fact they serve a mole sauce. I've found very few places in the county who do. Had the Mole Enchilada's. The sauce was excellent on it's own with a nice little kick at the end. But my server informed me of their homemade hot sauce which I couldn't pass up and that only made the experience better. Sweet on the front end with an fine but not overpowering bite on the end. I could use the stuff on everything! The margaritas (house, on the rocks sans salt) were on point. Next time I'll be a bit more adventurous and go for one of their more kicked up versions. Staff was amazingly friendly. I sat at the bar and watched the bartender make a large quantity of sangria. Without asking he poured me a small glass over ice. I'm not a fan of sangria or wine for that matter but I gave it a try. Wow..I could drink that stuff all night! If you're in the Red Hook area I highly recommend this place. Good food, great drinks and a fair price for all!
This is reliable Mexican comfort food at its best. The nachos “appetizer” can feed two as a main and is loaded with toppings. The pollo a la parilla is awesome. They bring to the table not only delicious chips and salsa but also refried beans that are so good I sometimes dream about them. The wait staff may not seem overly accommodating at first, but they never fail to be super professional and generous. This place makes me happy.
Great food great service and decent prices
Their drinks had nice fruity taste fitting a small town mex spot. Our group had the non-alcohol margarita on rocks. I think the fajitas can be made better - saying this as a patron of mex food elsewhere
Was able to put together something vegan and without rice for me by selecting from vegetable section and, like an idiot, omitting sour cream, cheese, and rice. I got great enchiladas filled with spinach at a great served dinner price. I wondered about the chips (even vegetarian?) and tried to stay away.
Nice decor and good service with totally average Americanized Mexican food. They give salsa and refried beans with some ground beef and cheese on the table with chips when you arrive. It's quite generous. We had two entrees: mixed steak and chicken fajitas and then pork carnitas tacos. They both come as full plates with sides of rice and beans, lettuce, tomato and other toppings. The fajitas were a bit smaller than typical but still plenty of food. The carnitas we're tasty but pretty oily. Altogether mediocre. I liked that everyone there was Latino and I spoke Spanish with them, but hooked with my family that their abuela wouldn't eat there.
Food was plentiful and services were excellent. However, it wasn't as authentic as other Mexican restaurant. Food needed more flavor and salsa dip tasted like store bought not homemade. Price was fair considering the cost of food.
Food was excellent but the service left something to be desired. I'd definitely go here again but I'd preferably get takeout.
Literally the only mexican food place around. I mean, it works for food. Others were satisfied with their meal, I ordered vegetarian (Spinach Quesadilla) and it was alright. The spinach was greasy. Probably will only go back if my group of friends want to meet there.
It's been about a year since I went out to dinner there...one of our favorite places...but SADLY...something has totally changed... Everyone at our table didn't want to say anything, but it was obvious that we all felt the same. Food was just barely okay, music was so different and loud... Perhaps the business was sold??😥
Cancun's, is a popular but mediocre Mexican restaurant that seems to prioritize speedy service over the quality of food. With an overwhelmingly extensive menu and passable dishes, Cancun's stands out as a spot to drop by for a quick meal when you're craving Mexican food, but may not leave a lasting impression as a go-to location for authentic cuisine. The menu at Cancun's Restaurant is notably massive, which raises concerns about the freshness and preparation of the dishes offered. With a seemingly endless list of options, it appears that most of the food might be prepared well in advance and reheated prior to serving. This undermines the quality and taste one would expect from a Mexican restaurant, as the depth of flavor is notably lacking. Cancun's would greatly benefit from narrowing down its options and focusing on perfecting a few standout dishes. By concentrating on crafting authentic, high-quality dishes rather than catering to a wider palate with pre-prepared meals, Cancun's has an opportunity to improve their overall dining experience. As a saving grace, the margaritas served at the restaurant qualify as an "Pretty good" beverage to accompany your meal. Though not outstanding, they are enjoyable enough to complement the eating experience. Meanwhile, the quick service provided by Cancun's staff can be seen as a positive, making this a suitable spot for time-sensitive diners. Mexican cuisine has a rich cultural and historical tradition, with a plethora of diverse ingredients and cooking techniques. Unfortunately, Cancun's Restaurant doesn't seem to fully embrace these aspects in their culinary offerings. For an establishment to truly do justice to Mexican cuisine, it is essential to prioritize the quality and flavor of their dishes while remaining respectful of the tradition from which they originate. If you find yourself in Red Hook, NY, with a sudden craving for Mexican food and limited time on your hands, Cancun's Restaurant might serve as a convenient stop. However, for those who truly appreciate and seek authentic Mexican cuisine, this establishment leaves much to be desired. As such, I would recommend exploring other options if you're in search of a memorable and delicious Mexican dining experience.
Great service, great busy atmosphere. Food is better at Sabroso nearby
The food lacked seasoning, leaving it somewhat underwhelming. I ordered pork tacos accompanied by rice and refried beans, but the addition of lettuce, tomato, and American cheese felt unnecessary. I had hoped for a touch of lime with cilantro sauce and a bit of spice to elevate the flavors. However, the Piña Colada was excellent and truly stood out.
Wife loved the mango tacos though they were out of mango which didnt tell us till after it was served... I ordered chicken quesdillas they use a stewed shredded chicken which I'd prefer grilled fresh chicken. Good size portions , service was excellent, the chips were good house salsa very mild... all and all not bad for the area. Was very safe clean .
I would give this place 0 stars on food. Going to Taco Bell is a step up from tnis place. The food is terrible, and they Margaritas have no booze.
So, this is an example of Mexican food done all wrong. The fresh corn chips are served with a salsa that is so soupy you can hardly scoop it with your chips, and lacks flavor. The pork tacos consist of pork that lacks flavor, and only diced tomato and onion- not a true pico de Gallo. The Spanish rice had hardly any flavor at all. Same with the black beans. Many of the ingredients were not farm fresh, but were obviously processed food. The cheese in the pork tacos, which would have been fresh mozzarella in Mexico has been replaced with cheaper processed Mexican shredded cheese. Overall, this meal was more comparable To the processed quality of fake Spanish food found at your local Taco Bell, at 3x the price. If you prize quality Mexican food, save yourself the price tag and the disappointment. It’s too bad, because the service was quick, and the staff are friendly. It’s a shame the food quality was so terrible.
Really poor quality food, the salsa was soupy and didn’t taste great, the quest dip we bought was super milky, and the Mexican rice had no flavor and was very dry. The pork tasted like it came from a can, and all the entrees were very overpriced for such low quality food
We stopped by before my nephew’s 8th grade graduation. We sat there for 20 minutes and we’re not asked if we wanted drinks and the table that was seated after us ordered drinks and food. We told the young lady seating people that we had been sitting there a while and five minutes later someone showed up. At that point we had to leave to get to the school on time. Not worth my time.
The food here was not very good. My $12 piña colada tasted like water. My Mexican companions Meal was far from Authentic The beans and rice were under cooked. My tortilla soup tasted like salsa Soup and was basically inedible. I will say the calamary and a dipping sauce Were delicious as well as the bean dip appetizer and chips. There was a mariachi band and they blocked the door so We had to wait to leave.. I will never go back!
The food was not fresh …. Just heated up in microwave ….salsa was diluted & soupy…. The plate just looked like a runny mess! No fresh flavors. Drinks were overpriced…”…Will not go there again!
The food was not very good. The chicken flatas was very mushy inside, the rice was like box rice. The chicken wings was very salty. My friend got the pork tacos and the meat was very dry. The only good thing was the beans and the alcohol.
I wish I had something nice to say. Staff is friendly enough but 2nd time now I've had stomach ache after eating here. Plastic cups of water that have plastic falling off the edges and tasted like fish accompanying watery beans, bland rice and thin salsa that lacked flavor and substance.
Overpriced, small portions, SUPER-slow service, and poor quality, sloppy food. Definitely would not recommend. Go elsewhere!
