Volveremos !!
We went for lunch last Saturday without a reservation. Cristina served us exceptionally well, with great kindness and patience. She served us efficiently and everything was cooked perfectly. The food was good, but the cheesecake was the star. The restaurant's interior was very warm and inviting.
It has a wide variety of dishes as well as a daily menu. I tried the weekend menu for €19 and a few other dishes, and the portions were generous. We didn't have to wait long to be served, and the meal lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes. The breadcrumbs and the traditional potato and cod stew (atascaburras) were particularly noteworthy on cold days. The restaurant also has a large parking lot right across the street for convenient parking.
I really like this restaurant 🍗 The food is excellent and the portions are generous ✨ The dining room is very welcoming. The daily set menu on Sundays is €19, which includes a first and second course, a drink, dessert or coffee, and bread 🍮 The desserts are homemade. Everything is delicious, and I especially recommend the braised pork cheeks in sauce and the rice pudding 😋 We've been several times and always leave very happy 👏🏻 I'd also like to congratulate the kitchen staff for how well they prepare all the dishes.
We were given a leaflet in the car park to the source of the Mundo river by a very polite guy from Restaurante Laminador, who also added that our dog would be welcome to eat inside. That was what we wanted to hear (it can take time to find a place that is OK with dogs), so we drove there and were delighted by the quality and value of our menú del día meal and the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. We saw the man who'd given us the leaflet as we left, who thanked us for coming. Grab that leaflet if it's offered or just head straight there. Highly recommended.
Ok
Nice food very friendly people
Recomendable 100%
We had a great meal. The waitress who served us at the bar seemed quite tired, but the waiter who served us throughout the meal was super friendly and very attentive to the kids. The food was delicious and plentiful. We loved the Manchego crumbs and the trout from the daily menu. The pork knuckle was also delicious.
Wonderful place just outside Riopar.
Always good service , good food , normal prices and a friendly welcome .
I visited Riópar and I was at the source of the Mundo River and everything is very well taken care of and controlled. We also ate at the Venta el Laminador, everything was very good at first but not so good at least what happened to me was not expected, I ordered a menu for two, it was supposedly 15 euros, but my surprise came when it was time to pay when the waiter told me it was 20 euros, that is not done, it is communicated before eating. In short, it is not because I did not pay the 20 euros, it is the misinformation that they gave on their part and it is not valid to me that it was the holidays
We went to the restaurant alone, and the experience was unpleasant. I've never felt so rushed while eating. The dishes arrived cold and were served almost simultaneously, even before we'd finished what was already on the table. The meal became stressful; it felt like they wanted us to leave as quickly as possible. At the end, they escorted us to the register and stayed with us while we paid, which only added to the discomfort. Overall, a very unpleasant experience.
A bad experience, not the worst. We arrived at our reservation time and were kept waiting for about 20 minutes without even being seen at our table. We were surprised when we saw the waitress going to take orders from other tables that arrived later. I called her over and told her that we had been there much earlier than several other tables. I was shocked when she said she hadn't seen us. Incredible, since we were right behind the table she had pointed out, and there were four of us. Even so, she still served the other tables before us, despite knowing this. The food, after sitting for a mere 50 minutes, was bad. We ordered migas, and they weren't migas, they were crumbs, as you can see in the photo I took. The pork knuckle was dry, as was the chicken. The potatoes were clearly from a frozen bag. The desserts were awful: the custard was lumpy, clearly not dissolved, and the pan de Calatrava was dreadful. The only decent thing was the cheesecake, which was edible. The plate the pork knuckle came on had a chip the size of a 20-cent coin; I've attached a photo. All in all, a disastrous experience. I hope the owner takes action.
I'm not going to give any stars because that's what they deserve... I made a reservation for 1:30 PM for lunch at 2:30/2:45 PM, but we arrived at 3:00 PM. There were four adults, two children, and a baby... it was cold and raining... I took the children out of the car, and when I got back, they told me my reservation wasn't there! With empty tables! We waited 20 minutes for a solution... standing there, wet, staring at each other, and they didn't even acknowledge us... we decided to leave... we went without food, and the children didn't either! Very poor management. Maybe I saved myself the trouble of paying for a meal that I can see wasn't worth it!
We decided to eat at this place because we had a very good experience three years ago. This year, however, nothing could have been further from the truth. It took them over an hour to serve us, as they attended to other tables that arrived later than us first. The waitress, even knowing this, didn't serve us when it was our turn. We ordered three set menus, and the food was terrible: frozen potato chips, dry pork knuckles, and a gazpacho Manchego with hardly any meat. For dessert, we had some lumpy, cracked custard. Two and a half hours of pure boredom and frustration. IF YOU LIKE GOOD FOOD, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. 70 euros for three set menus, bad service, and bad food.
Upon arrival, the waitress was very stressed and there were only three tables. The first course was cold, the croquettes were half-frozen, and the grilled lamb was cold. The children didn't like the macaroni and the soupy rice at all. The homemade desserts were not good. We didn't enjoy the experience. The price was reasonable, neither cheap nor expensive, but expensive for the quality of the food.
We went to the restaurant on a quiet weekend, and the food was very disappointing. The prices are fine for the area, but the food was terrible. The venison empanadas arrived frozen inside; I bit into one and confirmed it. I asked them to make more, and they took the bitten piece, heated it up, and served it to me as is. We ordered grilled churrasco. It arrived reheated, burning the plate, and the meat was obviously reheated. The side dish was literally six potato wedges from a bag, not even homemade. A friend received a tiny piece of churrasco, minuscule. As for the desserts, the custard was like flan, with zero creaminess. We ended up spending €147 between six of us for a meal that left much to be desired.
First and last time. The second course arrived two hours later, after much insistence with the waitress. The dishes were cold, despite being grilled. I ordered artichokes, and after asking how many she would bring since it was to share, she said three. When they arrived at the table, there was only one. The explanation was that they only serve one on weekends. Shameful. And the sad thing is that the dining room with the fireplace is very nice; the other two were awful, with no light.
Second and last time we'll be there. Being a weekend and such a popular place, the terrible service is inexplicable, not just to us, but to the entire dining room—at least seven tables. It took over two hours to eat two courses and a coffee. One table, after half an hour of not being served, got up and left. The menu was awful: frozen lasagnas, dry hake that looked like it had been sitting for days (though it was generously smothered with fried tomato sauce to disguise it), and the pork knuckle... I've never eaten such a dry piece of meat in my life, not even the sauce. The side dishes, though, were frozen potato wedges from Mercadona. The table right behind us was openly complaining about the same thing: wrong dishes, an eternity of waiting, etc., etc.
Today it has been proven that not all restaurants understand what it truly means to offer quality. The experience at this establishment was a clear example of how basic aspects of hospitality are neglected: serving hot dishes, taking care of the side dishes, maintaining customer service, and offering professional service. From the moment we arrived, the first impression was already discouraging. The waitress, without offering a menu, asked us directly what we wanted to drink. It is clear that without knowing the restaurant's menu, it is impossible to decide. Finally, they brought us the menu, and we opted for lamb chops. Disappointment soon set in. The drinks were served after the dishes were already on the table, and the chops, which should have been the highlight, were lukewarm to cold. Everything indicated they had been reheated and kept over the fire for too long. The result: dry, tasteless meat with a flavor that revealed a lack of care in its preparation. But the worst came with the side dishes. The potatoes—presented in three rings—were cold and reheated, probably prepared in advance that morning. A ridiculous side dish in both quantity and quality. Overall, the service was slow, the attention poor, and the treatment distant. The lack of professionalism was evident from the start, and it's clear that there's a shortage of dedicated waiters, and above all, of good managers who know what it means to care for customers and manage a team judiciously. It's incomprehensible that in a mountainous area like Riópar, where culinary competition is fierce and quality ingredients are abundant, the presentation and service of a dish as traditional as lamb chops would be so mistreated. In short: Slow service and unprofessional treatment. Dishes served lukewarm or cold. Reheated and dry meat. Sparse and poorly prepared side dishes. Totally inadequate value for money. In all honesty, we will not be returning.
The rooms are old but renovated. The window has no blinds, and the curtains are almost missing, letting in a lot of light in the morning. Below the room is the terrace, which in our case was filled with guests having drinks, and they didn't leave until the early hours of the morning, preventing us from sleeping. The rooms don't have air conditioning. The staff was very friendly and clean. The restaurant was terrible. We had breakfast on the terrace, had to clear the table ourselves, had two coffees with milk, half a piece of toast with olive oil and another half with olive oil and tomato, and one pineapple juice, all for €10.70, very expensive compared to the two restaurants 700 meters away, despite the terrible service. I don't recommend it.
