I have been here about 5 times. It's always the same! Friendly staff and consistent food. I like the bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. They make bagels in house which adds a fresh element! They have THE BEST Latkes!! Highly recommend. If you're Irish or just love potatoes, order em! Coffee is great. Oh! And always get a sweet treat when you cash out! Locally owned! Support local Rochester business!!!
Our co-worker brought in tuna, egg and chicken salad, with house made bagel chips and potato chips. Everything was so delicious and very much appreciated! It was such a nice suprise!
Oh my goodness this place has been around for decades! And I can tell why. Service is so friendly , and Decor was last updated in the '80s but it's got a ton of Personality with caricatures of their sandwiches and their namesakes along the walls. The New York New York was out of this world . The meat was so tender and anxious, not fatty, not tough. Russian dressing hit the spot. I felt like something sweet and had one of the half moon cookies. This is different from a black and white and is far superior. The texture is moist and the right amount of chewy and the frosting is so rich and flavorful , I highly recommend. Last I treated myself to an egg cream versus a chocolate phosphate and felt like I was a little girl again . Will definitely be back.
My partner and I come here for breakfast nearly every weekend; it has quickly become our favorite spot in the Rochester area. My go to order is the corned beef & hash, eggs, latkes, and a bagel while my partner gets the challah bread french toast with real syrup.
Absolutely delicious! The homemade corned beef hash was so good and the potato pancakes tasted even better the next day. The staff was super nice when I pronounced the words wrong and answered all my questions. I will definitely be going back next time I'm in Rochester to keep working through the menu.
We had Fox's cater our Sunday Send Off the day after our wedding and it was great! They helped us figure out the right menu and my sister was able to do a quick pick up in the morning! Everything was delicious - thanks Fox's!
Kenny was a great server and checked in often. Food was very good and comforting. The Challah French toast was phenomenal!
Wow this place is a hidden gem, deff a go for breakfast and lunch. The food was great and homemade. Ended up trying juat about every and was pleased. The egg creme was yummy, the latkas and kinishes were supurb. Homemade bagels are amazing!! Everyone was super nice. I will be dreaming of those lemon cookies for a while!!
Coming from the Catskills, we were looking for a good deli for some sammies and noshes and Fox's fit the bill. We had blintzes, latkes, a Reuben, and the New York, New York. All did not disappoint. We also took home some knishes, chopped liver, and halvah to enjoy later. Also, did not disappoint! Service was friendly. Atmosphere ...a NYC deli vibe. We'll be back :-)
I've been coming to Fox's for over 20 years, and the new ownership has elevated the food to another level. The matzo ball soup is the best I've ever had! I want that broth recipe. Amazing stacked Reuben, accompanied by a savory Mac salad. Wow. Even the pickle was perfectly crisp. I'm so excited to see this place carry on old traditions with enhanced flavors!
The new owners are doing great with this staple of a deli! Same quality you would expect, super friendly, and now even some gluten-free options, which I super appreciate! Like these almond paste cookies.. amazing. They also have a super rare treat usually only found in nyc. Have to stop in and check it out!
Fox's Deli reminds me of deli restaurants I've seen on TV - in the best way possible! I found Fox's Deli after craving a Reuben for weeks, and the Reuben I had was fantastic! There was so much corned beef on the sandwich, but I wish there was a better ratio between the meat and the rest of the ingredients. Overall, it was a great lunch (Reuben, fries, and a drink) for about $20. I'll definitely be back to try more!
Great service and pleasant atmosphere. The mish mosh soup, latkes, and potato knish were solid. The best dish we tried was the cabbage roll. The sweet and sour soup was not great, tasted strangely like ketchup. The last time I visited, we had a delicious Reuben, which I highly recommend.
They charged New York City prices but delivered a suburb-level sandwich. I ordered a corned beef on rye and a water. It cost over $20. The sandwich was embarrassingly thin and the meat was a bit rubbery. However, the bread was very fresh, and the pickle was crispy. Service was excellent; friendly, fast, and accurate. Given all the positive reviews, I'd be interested in returning for another menu item, but with the associated costs, I'm not sure they can deliver on the value. Disappointing.
I ordered a Reuben sandwich, which was good. However my issues was with the service. It wasn’t very busy and I waited 25 minutes on my lunch break for the food(after ordering), to find out it had been sitting there for 10-15 minutes. I was just forgotten about even though I was sitting in plain view of everyone. The women who gave me my food did say “oops, sorry” but that was the extent. I know she just forgot about me because the other gentleman asked her “hey has this guy been taken care of…” I couldn’t hear her reply but she was more focused on stamping the bags for the rather than giving me my already finished order. Just kinda crummy, I was hoping for a bit better of an experience
I got really excited to finally get to a classic Jewish deli. I tried not to build the experience up too much but when I saw they have been around since 1929, I figured it would be worth going. They also offer gluten free bread for my family which I haven't seen at too many delis. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. Both the pastrami and the corned beef are basic processed meats I could get anywhere and at $22 for a 1lb sandwich, I should have just gone to the local grocery store. The sandwich was assembled fine. Their coleslaw was not great, also seemed "house assembled" instead of "house made." The mac salad was decent, comparatively. The pickle slices looked and tasted like an average Mt Olive. I didn't expect Katz Deli but I did expect more for a place that's been around for nearly 100 years.
Ive loved Reubens my entire life and would guess I've eaten several hundred if not over a thousand. I've traveled a lot so I've had them all over the country in diners and delicatessens. I have never in my life seen one this small. It had no more than a table spoon of Sauerkraut on top and even though I could tell how salty the meat was, it still had no taste. Side note- haven't had covid and have no issues with being able to taste foods.... but after trying that, the Mac, the potato salad, and the soup.... I took a covid test because it was all so tasteless. If I can make better food at home it's a clear sign it's not a place worth spending money. We also arrived for breakfast and they had no latkes (the reason we came) and I stood at the front counter for over 10 min waiting to ask about getting bagels to go and was ignored even though it wasn't busy. The owner refused to even make eye contact and kept just walking past. I would completely understand if it was a busy day but it wasn't. So we left and I hate throwing things out but even though we took it home because I didn't want to waste it- it all went in the trash. I can not believe that people are happy with this level of service or food. Our server however was so nice and on top of everything. The coffee was also better than most of the local spots in the area for a regular cup- didn't taste like flavored water like most so that was an unexpected treat! The pickle was ok too. But I wouldn't go back for a coffee and a pickle! It was also priced about $5 more than what I'm used to getting that has about double the meat/cheese/Sauerkraut. I've had them at road stops that were better. It's ashame I was so excited to find a new place.
I ordered in from here. I ordered two servings of chicken noodle soup and a potato knish. The chicken noodle soup did not contain any chicken or vegetables. It was just noodles in broth. The knish was of similarly subpar quality. I would not recommend this place.
