Zemeta greets you with a smile. Her food is fresh and flavorful. Customer service is top tier. After she serves everyone she walks around ensuring you've enjoyed your meal and offering more. Gives me a feeling of a Mother's love at home. Will always return. I had some of everything and NOTHING disappointed. Absolutely hands down one of the best restaurant 🙌🏾
I had an amazing time at Zemeta! The food was so delicious and the owner was incredibly nice. I will definitely be coming back, I highly recommend eating at Zemeta Ethiopian.
Best Ethiopian. Zemeta and her husband are sweet people. Buffet is fast to order. If you have time order the specialty items. It is worth and wait.
The food was amazing, plus very nice customer service the restaurant is very clean and has parking lot to park . All I can say is absolutely amazing food.
Amazing food, service, atmosphere and prices! Super friendly owners who greet everyone with a smile. A wide variety of veggie and meat dishes with divine injera! Buffet is Fri and Sat, $10.45pp?!? Will defs be back!
I can't speak more highly of Zemeta. The food is delectable, and I'm always greeted with the utmost kindness. Please do yourself a favor and treat yourself to something delicious!
This is my family's go to. I had a celebration catered for my son's graduation and everything was delicious and always so much food! The best food in Rochester.
Very quaint family run Ethiopian restaurant with great service and fantastic food! Service was personal and personable! The food was served buffet style which was great as we got to try everything! Especially loved the brown lentils and the split lentils! The seasoning was so flavorful and well rounded! Very rich seasoning with the spicy lentils and the beef was scrumptious! We had a perfect sized table for four of us and the restaurant is small enough that it felt cozy while we visited and not too loud. I definitely recommend to check this place out!
Such a hidden gem! The food was incredible with so many vegan options, and the lovely lady running the place was so humble and attentive. She even made gluten-free injera on the spot for us! Plus, they had an Ethiopian buffet which I’d never seen before and absolutely loved. 1000% recommend!
I go here regularly! I’m so happy they have thrived through all these tough (pandemic) times. I can’t get enough vegetarian sambusa & injera. So many varieties of scrumptious foods! Highly recommend.
This is the definition of a great neighborhood restaurant. Everyone who knows this place goes back. Yes, this is all you can eat for under $20! There are typical dishes you can get everyday like clockwork, and new ones that pop on and off keeping things fresh for the regulars. There are vegan, and meats dishes, savory, and spicy, and also the injera! You will not be disappointed. If you want a to-go I suggest getting it yourself instead if doing delivery.
What a great experience. The woman running the place was so nice; we told her we’d never had Ethiopian food, so she fixed us a sample plate packed full of everything—rice, lentils, chickpeas, curries, collard greens, cabbage, chicken, beef, lamb, and the spongy injira bread on the side. (You eat by tearing off pieces of injira and dipping into the curries, but she has forks as well.) Everhthing was sooo flavorful and just the right amount of spice! I especially loved the spicy lamb. One plate was $17 and was plenty for 2 people to share, with a little leftover to go. Will definitely be back!
An absolute MUST-HAVE if you're in the area, or not in the area! Its worth a drive for this level of food, my GOODNESS I was blown away. I ate so much, I couldn't breathe. This repeated multiple times. And don't even get me started on the price, ALL YOU CAN EAT was less than $20. I'm literally STILL SHOCKED I just had the best meal of my life for that. Is there anything else you could ask for in this life? And the owner was so ridiculously sweet and helpful and attentive. 10000/10 stars 🤩
Tibs! Dora Wat! The chef and owner is the sweetest person. I love Ethiopian food and culture. Every time I go to Rochester I have to eat here. The price is insane. For under $20 you will eat like a king. Every single item is delightful and delicious. Hoping my job sends me to this area more often
Very kind and inviting woman right when we entered, saw many return customers coming in and chatting happily with her, she let us choose multiple toppings for our injera bread plate too, each were delicious, the lamb tibs was a favorite, as well as the cabbage. Kind warm small interior, good Ethiopian jazz playing, and cheap prices. Would love to be a regular here. Highly recommend!
I dropped by on a Friday for the lunch buffet. There was a good variety of vegetarian and meat dishes to select from. My server loaded up my plate with a variety of beef, lamb and vegetable choices and provided an extra plate of injera ( think of spongy, slightly tangy pita bread) to scoop and soak with. Because I was in a rush, I only did one plate from the buffet, but that was more than filling. Everything was delicious! I've been a fan of this place for years now, and being able to stop in for lunch is a great break from working at home. Things to note if you are new to Ethiopian food - you will rarely find a good Ethiopian restaurant with speedy service. I'm sure there are exceptions, but it helps to have slightly different expectations from the start. The service is still friendly and accommodating. Stopping by for the lunch buffet is a very good way to try out this kind of food. My bill with a drink was $15 which I consider quite reasonable.
I absolutely loved this this place!!! I always order the Ye Beg Wet and love the injera but I ask them to wrap it when I order from grubhub and it's so much better to me. I dined in one time and the atmosphere was great the service was excellent as well. I also tried the Ethiopian coffee and fell in love! The woman making the coffee came out and had it smoking for me while she was making it and it was a great surprise. I will definitely be back and smoke some hookah at the lounge area.
Superb & authentic Ethiopian dishes. This is a tiny (seats maybe 40), modest & unassuming place. Not many people seem to know it's open for lunch, as only 1 other table was occupied at peak lunch time on a weekday. The seasoning of the meats was aromatic & spiciness was just right--aggressive but allowing all the subtle flavors to come through. I recommend a combo plate to try a range of dishes. Prices are absurdly low, too.
