Avis sur Sackets Harbor Brewing company Sackets Harbor
Nice place, nice atmosphere. Located in an old train station, with indoor and outdoor dining. I ate in the bar, overlooking the brewing area. The burger was great, with crisp fries. Had two very good beers while there. Had a chance to speak with one of the owners, Pearl, she was very nice and gave me information about the business and the town. Spent an enjoyable hour there
Great afternoon spent at this establishment today. Cocktails food and company were lovely several strangers became friends
Service was excellent our waitress was Rochelle and she was beyond friendly and great at her job At our table we had crab cake sandwich and Adirondack burger and pimento cheese burger all with frys. Everything was fabulous the atmos6was delightful. Definitely will be back
Great meal, great waitress, excellent atmosphere (live music was a touch loud for us, but we're 66 and 72 so, could be just that...) - give it a shot, you won't be sorry! We only had pulled pork sandwiches (and wine at a brew house) but they were "to die for"!!!
Awesome dinner on the bay. We had dinner on the patio, great staff and commanding views! This a place to bring your friends. I recommend the shrimp tacos, salmons burger, and fried cheese curds.
Not sure what the bad reviews are based from, because this was phenomenal! Service was excellent! So fast and professional. The meal was awesome! Amazing! Tasty! The beer was to die for! We started with fried cheese curd....wow. following that was the Ale and Onion soup, very tasty! I had the Creole Ribeye with garlic mashed and asparagus. It was truly a great meal. Cooked perfectly with great flavor. My wife had the Chicken Cordon Bleu special. Wow, perfectly fried chicken! To top it off was the Caramel Turtle Cheesecake. Love at first bite! Amazing meal, fitting for a birthday. I loved it and cannot wait to come back. You wont be dissapointed. Thank you SHB! Well done!
Had a great dinner here with my partner. Food was amazing and service was fantastic ! Deonna was incredibly sweet and attentive. Will be returning in the future for sure !!
This is in direct response to Lizzie May, I am the other owner of 1812 on the Lake and the River. I happened to be out of town the night that Sam and Quinn performed. I am also the one that booked them. Here is what really transpired…. I booked Sam and Ivy (Ivy was who was supposed to perform with Sam, who is the one who always performs with Sam and who is who we were expecting) through Sam’s parents who are customers of the Pub and a very nice couple. The original date that Sam and Ivy were to perform was rained out and it was my partner, the owner you so unfairly took down, who suggested we book them at another date, which happened to be Thursday, which I thought was a bad idea, Thursdays are typically not a night when we have live music so I didn’t think a crowd would show. I was also informed by Sam rather last minute, that Ivy was unable to attend but Quinn could take her place. It is my total responsibility that I did not ask for a video of Sam and Quinn, I just agreed to it, solely because the owner whom you so unfairly took down, said that it was the right thing to do, give them another date to perform. I was told by Sam that they had an “amazing” sound system…it is not industry standard for bars to provide sound equipment, we are not the Hard Rock. Every single one of our musicians that have been playing for us since 1995 bring their own equipment… On the evening of their gig, I started receiving phone calls from the staff and from regulars at the restaurant that no one could hear them on the decks and that it sounded like they were underwater. I was also told that after 25 minutes of playing, they both went into the bar and proceeded to sit down with family and eat. I was also informed that Sam and Quinn told the staff and my partner that they take 20 minute breaks every HOUR, which equals 60 minutes so essentially we are paying for 2 hours, not 3. Not one of our musicians in 20 plus years has ever taken 20 minute breaks every hour. We offer our musicians free drinks and food on the house and not one person has ever stopped playing after 25 minutes to eat. (Was it you that was sitting with Quinn at the bar? Because the only person other than Quinn that was in the conversation you mentioned…would have been you!) It was my call to reduce their rate based on the fact that they were essentially playing for 2 hours and that no one could hear them on the lower and upper decks. They were also the most expensive band we have ever hired. So Lizzie May, that is my side of the story. Let the readers choose who to believe. But you owe my partner an apology. Not only was he not drinking at all that night, he was working to help the staff out, in case the 30 plus people that we were told were going to show for the band showed (30 plus people did not show up, maybe 10.) He has put employees through school, paid their electric bills when they could not, paid for their cars to get out of the tow yard, sponsored more school teams than I have room to name, given away more beer and donations to veterans, people with cancer, kids with disabilities…He has stayed open year round for our locals even when we were afraid we couldn’t keep the lights on. You want to blame someone, you can blame me. The owner who you so unfairly took down, he is the one that spoke with Sam at length that evening to try and come to an understanding about what happened. I received a very nice text from Sam the next day and we came to an understanding. That’s what happened.
We had lunch. My husband a brisket melt and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the haddock sandwich with blue cheese slaw, both were wonderful! I had a flight of their IPAs. Loved the double IPA, Malicious Intent. The waitress was lovely.
People amazing, atmosphere is amazing. Food was phenomenal and reasonably priced. Got a burger and it was great. Their local beer was also amazing and their food combos with beer is great. Love it and will be coming back.
Had dinner here Saturday night. Nice view of water and great service. Laid back and very attentive. Whole staff is engaged to make dining experience fun. Great beer selection too.
While up in the North Country, we were invited to a going away party at 1812 Brewing in Scaketts Harbor. So glad that we accepted and got to experience some great locally brewed beers. We ended up having dinner at 1812 every night that we were up in the area. The food was fresh and tasty, the beers were refreshing and flavorful. Our favorite, was a sour named "In-a gadda-davida" In addition to great food and drink, the view was spectacular, the dining area is situated on Lake Ontario and provided some great views at sunset. Well, worth a trip out to visit if you're in the area.
During our visit to this brewery, we were absolutely thrilled by the fantastic time we had! It was a delightful surprise to be there during the solar eclipse weekend, and the town was bustling with so many cheerful faces. Despite the limited staff, everyone was putting their heart and soul into ensuring exceptional service for all. Our server was an absolute gem, incredibly amusing, and delightfully talkative. She shared captivating tidbits about the town, enriching our experience even amidst the bustling atmosphere. The brewery offered a stunning view of the lake, and we were enamored with the outdoor patio. For those seeking a delightful combination of excellent beer and mouthwatering pizza, this is the place to be. Our overall experience at this establishment was nothing short of fantastic, with delicious food to savor. The pricing is a tad high, but the quality justifies the cost, making it a worthwhile destination for enjoying top-notch beer with a picturesque view. The pizza was a culinary delight, perfectly prepared, and the servers were truly outstanding. This brewery is definitely a must-visit for a delightful experience.
This place have excellent social distancing going on in the restaurant. You can sit at the bar in the dining room or out on the patio. This place does have a view of the water. All the food that you see pictures of was cooked excellent. The service was amazing and we went here twice and sat in the bar and in the dining room. The bar is amazing and has some pretty good character with it.
This was my first time at this place and it will not be my last. We ate here on a Thursday, so the special is happy hour all day and 1/2 pound burgers with a pint of beer for $10. I had a black and blue burger that was amazing and cooked just as I asked. We sat inside in the bar area. They have TVs and the place is decorated nicely and it is clean. There is outside seating and it looks like a great place when the weather is nice. The main course meals are priced in the $20s, but it looks like it is well worth it. The staff was friendly and nice. I highly recommend this place.
We stopped in for lunch while on a motorcycle ride. The food was excellent and the deck is great if the weather cooperates. As we were riding, we didn't drink their beer at lunch. Instead we filled a growler to have when we got back to our hotel.
Had the nachos with brisket. Quite tasty. I had a hazy pale ale. Also good. Service was excellent.
Such a wonderful time!! Food was great, staff nice and knowledgeable, I loved the beer and the outdoor patio!! This place and small town charm had me in love. I can't wait to go back and share thr experience with others. I live in NC and will gladly add this place back to my Northern road trips
Ok to be honest I almost passed this quaint little river side place over because of the dramatic differences in reviews. I glad I didn't. First I will explain why only 4 stars, i wish i could do 4 1/2. Anyway, the host left a little to be desired, poor kid looked like he was scared of his own shadow but he was polite and very accommodating. The other reason...it was way too cold inside. Great temperature of those days it is 90+ degrees however today was not one of them. Now onto the the positive. We sat outside on the lower deck right by the water. Our waitress was extremely polite and patient with our many many questions. I ordered a glass of Funf sangria that was delicious. Our appetizer was the fried cheese curd with a house sauce. Again wonderful, not super greasy, warm bites, not too crunchy not soggy either. Perfect amount of time between appetizer and main course. Both myself and guest ordered burgers. Both came with fries and pickle. Both crunchy and tasty. Burgers cooked to desired request, not dry or sopping. The overall atmosphere was pleasant. While most of the stores and restaurants in this area are very up scale and drop of money, this place was very family friendly and down to earth. We will definitely be back.
A pleasant experience for what seemed like a crazy night for them. The staff seemed a little flustered but I guess that's to be expected when you're training someone and you're short-staffed. Overall a 4-star experience as the food and drinks were delicious
It was a lovely day yesterday and we ate out on the deck. The food was good and the service was very good. There were few customers on a Tuesday; things slow way down in October in Sackets Harbor. We had a nice visit. I love to visit Sackets; it's a fun place.
Nice place - stopped here for a quick beer & bloody-mary on our way to Watertown. They were out of their signature beer; but the waitress was kind to bring my husband a sample of the other offers and he found one he liked! Sat outside by the water - the service was good. Took a look at the menu; but didn't order - maybe next time!
Chef really undermined what would have been a great experience. We went on a quiet weeknight early in June. Sat in the bar area, bartender was our server and she was great - bubbly and attentive. Beer was delicious, we tried 2 different kinds. But the food, my chicken BLT sandwich had the driest, toughest piece of chicken possible, same with my husband’s salmon in his entree, absolutely ruined that poor fish. Shame, because everything else was so nice. Nice sauces on both our dinners, good sweet potato fries. That sandwich would have been the bomb with the bacon, avocado and a yummy sauce on it but for the piece of leather supposed to be chicken. Bartender recommended the peanut butter pie and she was right, yum! Great cozy bar, beautiful outdoor seating available, friendly hardworking bartender, nice selection of great beer brewed right there. Up your game, Chef, and stop precooking your meat and fish and leaving them in the fridge for 2 days before serving, you’re messing up everyone else’s hard work.
We were in Watertown to run errands and were hungry. So we were excited to try out the ol Maggie's under new ownership. Nicole, at the bar, was wonderful. The selection of beer and cider is excellent, I love cider and 1911 Honeycrisp is a favorite. While they were out of brisket for Texas Tacos, the pulled pork substitute in this dish was excellent. A little coleslaw on the bottom, crispy onions and pickled jalapeño on top, yum. I enjoyed it more than any lunch I had at Maggie's. They are going through transition, be patient. My only negative was the ladies room. It was a wet mess. Faucets were loose, toilet was wet, countertop also wet. Hopefully, they repair it. Trash can pedal non working and a pile of used paper towels on top. I felt a little dirtier after washing my hands. A big turn off for me. Service was friendly. Good luck to new owners.
1812 brewing co Is a nice restaurant with a very nice river view deck that will take your stress away by the sound of the river rapids And the food is delicious Odered a 1812 orange tea that is well put together
Staff was pleasant enough, seating was ample. Obnoxious teens in a boat next to the restaurant blasting music and partying - not their fault and wont hurt their score. Food was pretty good, but we came for the beer, which was...fine. Honestly, if you are doing a brewery hop, I would put this as a low priority at the moment. No flights, not even a beer menu - the waitress just tells you their selection when you ask - which is understandable in COVID times...except we received a physical food menu when we sat down? Maybe look into a QR code system which seems to be working great at other spaces!
Dog friendly patio right on the water. We had the 1812 Amber Ale which was really good, not hoppy at all, and the sangria, which was sweet but not sickly so. I had the tuna tacos and they were good. A little spicy. And my mother and the Adirondack Burger and she said it was one of the best burgers she's ever had.
We haven't been here since 2012, but back then we had a good dining experience. The beer is pretty good, and the hamburgers are excellent. Walking around, there are very nice views of the river and some of the architecture of the buildings in the downtown section of town is stunning. A fun time all in all, and will go back.
Beer was good but $12 for a flight of four 4-ounce beers (which equates to 1 pint, which costs about $6-$8 for the beers we chose) is way too much. Service was ok. We were in town with family for a fun weekend and our visit here was our least favorite part.
I have been here twice, the first time was amazing all around, food tasted delicious, it was brought out in time, and service was great…this time the only saving grace was the service provided by the waitress- we sat by the doggie section— and we noticed that she was frustrated, I don’t know if it was due to the lack of help or by behind scene business but she was always polite and attentive as she could be; the food in the other hand, was late, cold, dry and tasteless. I know this is no fault to her so we are not disappointed with her services at all. I will definitely be hesitant to recommend this place to a friend in the near future.
Came here for dinner and food was pretty good. My biggest complaint is that I ordered the duck nachos which were $14 (one of the more expensive menu items, including the normal nachos). The waitress completely neglected to disclose that there were only SIX chips. They were very good but it is very misleading to put nachos on a menu and not advise a customer there is such a small portion size.
We visited the Sackets Harbor Brewing Company for lunch on October 6, 2021. The food was excellent. Although, the coffee creamers were expired. The wait staff immediately replaced them. The only bad thing was the restroom. It was filthy. It made me wonder what else in the restaurant was dirty. We won't be back.
Great atmosphere and nice location, the problem was that service stunk and our dinner was disappointing. We ordered the brew house salad and steak plus the fish with chips to share. Our fish was awfully flakey and fish had no taste too it. My wife was disappointed with the dessert too. I’d eat a snack and maybe lunch but not dinner again.
Good brew. Food in restaurant was just ok. Had the ribs and found them not warm enough to enjoy. Salmon dish was really good according to my husband.Nice seating outside. Waitstaff pleasant and eager to please.
Food I thought was good, however most of the order wasn’t what was ordered, or how it was advertised on the menu. (1) The Caesar salad with chicken lacked the tomatoes and croutons. (2) The mushroom burger that was order was over cooked to what was ordered. And (3) mine, a mushroom burger as well, was cooked correctly, however jalapeños were missing and I received regular French fries (still delicious) instead of sweet potato fries. I can only contribute the errors to the live music, and probably the short staff. In conclusion, food; 4 out of 5, atmosphere add location; 4 out of 5, service; 2 out of 5. Price; 2 out of 5
They will not split up checks for partys of six or more. Makes it so inconvenient for going out with friends. Having the customer try to figure out the bill is not the way to provide service. Then we still have to hand her 4 different cards anyways. Will not go there as a group again. Also waited forever for our food. On a good note the succession IPA was great.
Came in at 9 on a saturday and it was like they were ready to close. Not alot of attention paid to 2 of the 8 people in the whole place. Food did not impress but mostly because the order came out missing items and sauce on one and dairy on the other when no dairy was requested.
The service was great, beer was good and the French fries were awesome but I do have to comment on the taste of the main dish. I ordered the brisket sandwich and it lacked flavor.
Atmosphere is a 5 if you like dining waterfront, We did not try other meals they offered. We were there for the sole purpose of eating all we wanted hot, fresh crab legs.($240.00 for 4 people). The crab leg experience was a 2 out of 5. Some cold, some hot, some slimy and returned to kitchen, some fishy tasting. We had to constantly ask for butter instead of bringing a new cup with a new batch. It was gelling fast outside. There were no options for sides to choose from. They are understaffed , but our waitress was friendly and responsive. We were the only ones eating crab on the deck, so it should have been a better experience.
3 stars because when we actually got the food, it was good. The staff is friendly, but... service was extremely slow. From the very start, it took a long time for the wait staff to take a drink order (we ordered food with drinks). It took a very long time to get part of our party's (5 people) order, and the rest of the food came 20 minutes later. The staff was apologetic. In the end, lunch took over 1.5 hours. This was a mid week lunch. The restaurant was not busy, and every table had similar conversations about the wait times.
4 of us went for dinner we got smokehouse platter and fish and chips, platter was delicious everything full of flavor. Fish n chips also delicious. Noone liked the coleslaw but to each there own for that and got the chocolate chip cookie which those who ate said was a bit dry n crumbly on outside and didn't feel it was freshly made, 1 was bummed about not getting it with ice cream was a misread of the menu. Only real complaint we all had was the dining area was very cold, wished I'd wore a jacket and those that did left them on. Definitely would not go for a meal again until weather warms up, didn't expect dining room to be so cold. Waitress was new and very pleasant and attending. So would definitely return for the food and service when it warms up.
Specifically chose this restaurant on great burger reviews and patio is dog friendly. Ordered small salad, meh. Barely any cheese and balsamic dressing could burn through steel. Way too harsh. The black and blue burger with sweet potato fries was atrocious. Burger was flatter than a pancake and crunchy, had some weird clump of cold onion straws, hardly any cheese or sauce and sweet potato fries were stone cold. Waitress was great but she was also bartender so logistical nightmare for poor girl trying to make everyone’s drinks and handle patio section. She did it all with a smile though. Be careful walking up ramp to front doors.
Overall a good burger, however one should have lettuce on the bottom to avoid a soggy bun. The soda was also flat and I didn’t finish my drink because it was bland. Quality control measures should be on check for your sodas. The onion rings could also be paired with a sauce if you wanted to be fancy. A pickle on the side is also something one could expect when ordering a meal such as this. Overall I like this restaurant but there are a few things that are going overlooked.
I have mixed feelings about this place. Their chicken wings were great wxtra crispy just like we asked but it was Super Bowl sunday and wings were suppose to be $1 but we were charged the regular price for 10 wings . Bartender didnt seem to care and didnt offer to make the adjustment. They forgot an item on our take out order which after seeing it wish we didnt go back for it. The burnt ends mac and cheese that was $29.00 yes you see that correctly $29.00 and it had 5 burnt ends of fat on it. I will post a picture. I was highly disappointed which stinks bc their wings were good and Oh the beer selection for being a brewery is not great..
We were okay with the slow service at first, nice night to sit outside. Must be short staffed and a new cook? Took forever to get drinks and then two out of 3 orders were wrong.Told them to never mind on a second drink after waiting 15 minutes.Probably not going back anytime soon.
The street corn was burned and not fresh. Barely touched it and was a waste of money. Jalapeno cornbread was dry, pretty sure the slice of coconut cream pies we ordered was was one of the cheap frozen pies from the store and the piece was very tiny, like a sampling of pie. The hamburger and the cherry pie ordered were good, but overall a disappointing experience. The wait staff was friendly so that was a plus.
The food is exceptional but the service is pathetic. Waited every bit of 20 minutes to get my bill then another 8 minutes before the waitress came back to take my payment. Also my blue Hawaiian tasted as if it hardly even had any alcohol in it, extremely watered down or something.
The food took forever to get to the table, and refills for our drinks, although tasty, also took much too long to arrive where we were sitting. After our three hour visit, we were surprised to see that the bill included a twenty percent tip, preventing us from tipping according to the rather slow service. Service aside though, the food was quite good.
I went on July 6th and found the patio really nice and the food to be very yummy but the service was, frankly, bad. Not sure if they were short staffed but the patio was nearly empty yet we waited ages for water refills and to pay our bill. Maybe it was just an off day. The food was good!
Came here with my girlfriend for the Burger and Pint night advertised for Thursdays on their website. I asked the waitress about this special and she informed me they haven't had this event since before the start of the pandemic, over a year and a half ago! Yet it is still on the website and found out later printed on the bottom of the receipt. We both ordered the Adirondack cooked medium. They came out very well done, and the apples on the burger did not taste fresh. The table next to us ordered medium steaks and also mentioned to the waitress how well done their meat was. I give it two stars because we were seated promptly and everything was served quickly. The House Brew and cocktails we had were good. Overall, not a value for the money.
My husband and I went for lunch. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It cost $70 for us to eat lunch (a drink each, an appetizer and 2 sandwiches). His burger and my salmon BLT both tasted like charcoal. Neither of us could finish our meal because of the taste. We also were both sick the rest of the day. I would not recommend.
Food is average, kind of pricey for what you get. Service is below average. Took about 10 minutes for someone to even realize we were there and be seated, sat down and waited another 15mins to order drinks, waited another 15 to have them brought to us. Our food was an above average wait as well. Husband ordered his food without cheese or sour cream and of course when our food finally came sour cream was on it. Our waiter did offer to bring him something else, however we didn’t want to wait longer so declined. Also watched the hostess open doors by touching the handle with her the bottom of her shoes, kinda gross considering waiters/waitresses touch the doors when coming outside to bring out food. Don’t plan on coming back
We went in for lunch for the first time. It wasn’t too busy on the patio. My husband and I got the duck confit nachos as an appetizer. For $16 we got 6 chips. My fish from my fish and chips was soggy. My husband got the crab meat burger and the ratio for the crab to the LTO was bad. It was mostly the veggies that made up the sandwich. It was okay. I’d rather take my service elsewhere. The waitress and host were nice.
My first visit may not be my last but I wasn't encouraged by it. The server was at the center of my concern. His demeanor came off as aloof and he rushed me and my wife through our meal. The food was good, but the 1812 Amber Ale we had seemed flat. We were quickly closed out with no offer to stay or offer that we could. We left for the Boathouse, next door, because we wanted to sit and enjoy the view. Their 1812 Amber was not flat.
So what i don't like about this place is that they charge BS prices for BS food. These nachos were $21. Store bought chips, jalapeños, and salsa. The chicken tasted like they cooked it and same with the cheese sauce. $10 is a stretch for them, $20 is ridiculous. The pizza here is good and their beer is ok. I wouldn't recommend coming here for more than a beer on the water. Maybe a pizza.
I ordered a seafood chowder, there was supposed to be shrimp and scallops in it. very high price of ten bucks for it. There was only broth, no seafood anywhere in it? Everything on the menu was in my opinion high priced. I don't mind paying high price for good seafood, but both my wife and my chowders were a rip off. No seafood in the seafood chowder. We also got the lobster rolls that were loaded with lobster. Nothing worse than paying top dollar and getting ripped off.
Location and view is very nice. Beautiful day to dine outside so I brought my 94yr old aunt for lunch. Ordered the rocket wrap and asked waitress, Lacy, if I could have without the wrap as I'm a diabetic. She didn't bother to tell me the chicken was breaded. I didn't notice & never thought to ask for grilled chicken as I was trying to order something for my aunt. I didn't say anything or complain bc I probably should've checked. Bill was 44.00. We left a 20% tip. As we left, we had to use handicap ramp which requires you to step inside. Staff was heard, complaining loudly and laughing about us and how stupid I was to have the rocket without the wrap and breaded chicken. I almost went in to let them know how rude their behavior was but again, helping my aunt. Also, 2 other tables had complained about the food quality and said they wouldn't be back. One guest had Bbq & complained was dry and nothing was done to fix the issue when told. Another table questioned the food. Because of the overheard complaints, i took pity on lacy and didn't complain at all. Little did I know she was complaining about me. None of the 3 tables of customers will be returning.
Waitress with a whatever attitude. Didn't know how to pour a beer, handed us dirty plates. Dressed like she was going to guns and Rose's concert! She laughed at the dirty plates. Bottom line, food is good service needs a major do over. Owners! You need to fix your staff. You have a great location and food but poor to fair staff.
I came to this brewery recently to see two experienced, talented musicians play, and left utterly shocked by the owner’s behavior. He is a ridiculous, unreasonable man, and a mean drunk apparently. The musicians played for three hours with 30 minutes break total, which is the industry standard for a 3-hour show. I spoke to one of them, who was literally going to pass out due to the heat. On their first (20-minute) break, the owner texted the musicians that they had taken too long, and that he was “paying them for three hours.” Alas, he would not pay them for three hours, as he later docked their pay $100. He also criticized their speakers, which was silly, as he did not provide equipment. To the musicians: you were incredible. To the owner: everyone in town now knows you’re cheap and mean.
They are still very much ironing out serving a large amount of people outdoors and our service was terrible. At first glance I didn’t want to blame our server but his lack of attention plus the fact that our party of two was served after countless large groups (over an hour and a half until we got our food) without a peep of consolation or even water refill, I would not recommend this place at all until they can properly staff, organize their kitchen and orders + train their servers on etiquette for late orders. Several other small groups noted the terrible service while we where there as well.
Didn't get past the entryway. No Greeter. We stepped into the bar to look for anyone working there and immediately found one bartender/waitress. 5 mins standing there and never acknowledged us. No, "be right with you". No, "sorry folks, I'm a bit short handed. It'll be a couple of minutes". Nothing. Meanwhile she was all too ready to help a small group trickling in around us. It's not like they were busy, so no idea why the cold shoulder. You can only be ignored for so long. Not the first time we've had issues with the service here. We love to support local business and find most small business restaurants to be superior to chain restaurants. Unfortunately, this experience reduces the likelihood of us returning.
Food is over priced and gross. From what i saw Just a bunch of teens working in the kitchen. My smokehouse burger looked like it was a froze premade patty. No seasoning. And the pulled pork was dry and flavorless. Forgot the slaw forgot the sauce. And the bottom bun was wet even tho the burger itself was beyond dry. Looked like someone prechewed my pulled pork. My husbands pork belly was not charred at all. And the fat to meat raito was not worth what was paid. Oh and they ask you how you want your burger cooked. But no matter the request u will get a well done dry burger. Five people . Not one persons burger came as they requested. If your going to well done every patty. Dont ask the customer how they want it. DO NOT GO HERE.
First time trying 1812 and it was a disappointment to say the least. My wife and I had a terrible experience. We weren't given utensils when our food arrived and had to wait over 15 minutes to get them. By then, our food was cold and inedible. I would never recommend this place.
HORRIBLE !!!!!!! Took forever to get seated , no one at host stand ! Drinks had to keep asking for when there was only one other table than us there. food .... well WOW 😡 slow husbands chicken very dry!! My fish weird tasting didn’t think to much of it just took breading off but then I got FooD poisoning later from it ! Never had this bad of an experience in one setting ! 🤢 very disappointed from outside nice setting to coming into a mess and very uncomfortable seats and out dated appeal and wasps up in the window 🐝 . Seriously wish I could give negative ~ ⭐️⭐️
Called on the 3rd of July to reserve a patio table on the 4th. We were told there was plenty of room. Upon arriving, we were told by the young hostess there were no open tables and we would have to wait about 20 minutes. We gave her our number and went outside to wait. After waiting 45 minutes and hearing nothing we decided to check back. There were 4 unbussed tables but we were told our table was “still being cleaned” and that it would be a few more minutes. At this point, judging by how much of a mess front of house was, we didn’t want to imagine how bad back of house was. Instead we went to Good Fellos where we were greeted and seated immediately with no tables sitting dirty for extended periods of time. I recommend going there instead.
Really liked this place before they changed the menu to mostly BBQ foods. Could take the family and everyone found something they liked.... not so much now. Tried it once and we all agreed the food (choices and quality) wasn't that good anymore.
I really wanted to like this place and enjoy my experience. The location is great. Hostess was really nice and bubbly. Server completely ignored us for about ten minutes to start. We all ordered Adirondack burgers, which sound great based on the ingredients but were completely flavorless. Fries are a $2 up charge and are frozen, supermarket type fries. Bottom line, service was terrible food was mediocre at best. Very disappointing.
Food was decent enough but not worth the price. Service wasnt great either, our waitress couldn't be bothered to split the bill for us. DO NOT take parties above 6 here - they add 20% gratuity onto your tab along with a 3.5% service charge.
We recently went to the brew pub for the first time today. Leaving a negative review is completely new to me but this experience I believe is appropriate. To start off we were seated for 20 minutes before ever seeing our server. Once she came we put our order in full and everything seemed to be fine but 15 minutes after putting our order in she came back out and said the appetizer we order was not available, she gave us a menu to order another appetizer. After 20 minutes of waiting our server came back to ask us what we wanted then asked again for our entire order. While waiting for our food there were seagulls in the area which the hostess found appropriate to come out and “squawk” at them loudly directly behind our table for a few minutes at a time. Once our food came many items were forgotten which we continuously asked for and they were brought out one at a time then reminded again of more forgotten items. At this point there were no more than 5 small table of people in the entire restaurant. After finishing our meal we had to ask the hostess where the server was so we could pay which she was extremely confused about. Once the server came we handed the waitress our card and asked to run the check and for a box. After waiting for our waitress for 15 minutes to return the hostess came out and started piling trash on top of the food we were going to take with us and asked if we were finished which we relayed we were planning to take. Once she realized we were planning to take the food she took the trash off then ran back inside. Finally the waitress brought the check but forgot the to-go box. We payed then proceeded to leave as the box was being brought out. I am not one to complain but I have never in my life dealt with such an unordinary dining experience in my life.
(Updated with photo of bees liking our food better than we did!) Should've obeyed the reviews! We stopped in for a quick lunch and sat on the patio. Service was terrible. Asked what was in the tuna tacos and waitress had no idea. Patio was dirty, cobwebs and dead bugs everywhere. Large bee problem as well. Several other tables moved inside b/c of this. Tuna tacos were tasty but small with very little tuna and expensive. $18 for 3 little tacos and some chips. She had the Berry salad which the bees liked better than she did. The lettuce wasn't fresh & the dressing was all sugar. When we received the check there were 2 beers and a glass of wine that we didn't order. Bathrooms were smelly and dingy. Cleaning is NOT a priority here. Go next door. It looked nice.
I recently had a very terrible experience trying to dine here. I made reservations the morning before for a party of two, outside, at 7:30. I had originally asked for 8pm, but the girl on the phone informed me that the kitchen closes at 9pm, so we said 7:30 would be fine. When we arrived at 7:30, the patio had multiple empty tables that needed to be bussed, and there seemed to be two groups of people waiting to be sat. After a few minutes of standing at the host stand, a young, very frazzled girl came up and asked if we wanted to be put on the list for 2. I informed her we had reservations, but she said it would still be a little wait. No problem, we walked around the waterfront for 30ish minutes. We went back around 8pm to make sure she had taken down the correct number. She had the right number, and there was no longer a line of people, but there were still multiple patio tables that needed to be bussed, and she was still very frazzled- she didn’t even recognize us at first and tried to add us to the list again. I asked how long realistically it would be and she said only a few minutes. While we waited outside for 15 minutes a large party walked in and was immediately sat on the patio. It was unbelievable, now 1 hour past our reservation time. Also the frantic vibes and lack of any smell of BBQ made us check out Good Fellos instead. Night and day difference. We were seated immediately with a smile and had a great dinner there.
Don’t bother stopping here. Even after working the full summer, staff is not aware of managers policies. Deck is swarming with wasps and it’s my responsibility to replace my beer due to a wasp doing a dive in my full glass. I wasn’t told this till the 2nd beer was brought out. Manager threatened to call the cops if I didn’t pay for 2 beer which I didn’t drink. Never be back
This dining experience started out what appeared to be promising, as the cheese curds are pretty good, and the smoked wings were decent, that being said if you like beef jerky with what I assume was a nice dry salt glaze, that was previously marinated in the Dead Sea, and then sliced and grilled till extra crispy, before being sold as brisket then this is your spot, the French fries were some how even more salty than the brisket ( how they pulled that off I’m not sure) the service was decent, but the poor girl was completely overwhelmed, as they’re definitely understaffed, beer was okay ( the other guys at the table said so) probably not a bad spot to have a cold one, but 2/10 on the food
Men’s bathroom had a pile of literal poop toilet paper overflowing. There was an out of service sign but the doors were open and the poop pile was visible. Seems like it’d be a health code violation with how disgusting it was just sitting there. The whole bathroom should have been shut down until it was taken care of. Ruined the whole experience because that made me question the cleanliness of the restaurant 🤮 EDIT: wow the unprofessionalism in the reply is wild!! So sad to see the reply and how the “owner” handled that. It wasn’t just toilet paper it was literal poop too. And yes as a business you have an obligation to make sure your establishment is clean and if you can’t do that in the moment… close the bathroom until it can be fixed. $350 for a plumber to make sure poop isn’t sitting by patrons that are using the bathroom you left open, doesn’t seem like such a big cost. The food is expensive so you’d think you could easily pay for a plumber lol. Food is blah and expensive and bathrooms are nasty. The owner is the one who should be ashamed. I love Sackets harbor if you go there please eat at The Whiskey Coop, Chrissy Beans, the boathouse or Goodfellos! Those are all amazing choices trust me 😊
To anyone wanting to check this place out please read recent reveiws. A pattern is starting to appear and this is only people who have taken the time to write a review. 1812 used to be our favorite place to eat in sackets. But after tonight, we will probably never return. Tonight was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had as a family. Firstly, the wait time was ridiculous. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait to be seated, which turned into being told only 15 more minutes, and then after an hour we finally got seated. We finally got sat down and we ordered our usual special buy one pizza and beer and get one free. The waitress was all over the place and did not seem to be handling the typical weekday number of customers as she seemed scattered. I ordered one beer when we placed our food order. I got the beer and when we got our appitizer. I then ordered another beer once our pizza came out. My family and I finished eating our pizza (after about 20 minutes) and once the waitress came back to check on us I mentioned that I still didnt have my beer. She said she would check on it and I said we would like boxes and the check. She came back with boxes and the check but no beer. My wife checked the check and saw that the buy one get one was not applied to the beers or pizza. We also noticed that I was charged for the beer that I still had not received. At this point I went into the building with the check to get things figured because i was getting pretty annoyed at this point and my family and I were ready to go home after a 2.5 hour dining experience that we were not anticipating being so long. I got inside a girl asked me what I needed and I explained the issue with the beer and the buy one get one not being applied to our order. She told me that they no longer do the buy one get one special. I asked very confused when this started and she said that she was not actually sure, "maybe when the pizza stove got fixed?" she said. I expressed my frustration because we frequently come to 1812 for this special and I asked how we are supposed to know that they arent doing this special anymore until we have eaten and are ready to pay? All I got was a sorry and that she understands the frustration. The girl actually told me that several other customers have vocalized the same frustration. Which to me is baffling that they know customers are getting angry about this but they aren't thinking outside the box to let customers know this special change in a more efficient manner besides waiting to let customers know until they are done with their meal and ready to pay. This girl then asked me who my waitress was and I pointed to the waitress we had that hadn't gotten the beer to me yet. Our waitress then came over to me and let me know that my beer JUST came off the bar and was ready for me. I told her I no longer wanted it because we had been waiting for it for so long and were ready to leave. She took it off the check and I paid and left after once again sharing that the whole experience was frustrating. A message to the owner(s); if specials change (especially popular specials like this one) it would be a good idea for wait staff to let customers know who are ordering pizza that the special is no longer being offered. This would be helpful for them to know before ordering as it will like dictate how/what they order. Letting customers find this out when it is time to pay does nothing more than create frustration. Additionally, the wait staff did not seem equipped to handle the average number of customers on this Tuesday night. They seemed super scattered, forgetful, and flighty. Lastly, drinks taking almost 30 minutes to come out? Meals are usually eaten and the check received by that amount of time. Regardless, I've got a bad taste in my mouth after this dining experience. Which really stinks because we have been long time 1812 customers. I've never had such a bad dining experience before and for that reason we will not be returning or recommending 1812 to anyone anytime soon.
Came in as a party of 5 on a quieter Tuesday evening, had to wait ~20 minutes before ordering beers and food at the table. After waiting 45 minutes to an hour with no drinks we had to ask our server to get them now because both the appetizers and the main course had arrived. Another server came with them later and said that she would have appreciated it if we were more patient.... they didnt even offer to cover the cost of the drinks.... Food was alright but overpriced, beers were great, but some of the worst service I've ever had. Not our servers fault, but unacceptable nonetheless. Will not be returning whatsoever.
Updated 8/14 My husband, son, and I visited in early July. We recently were camping in the area and during a particularly rainy Sunday we asked our group of friends who were with us if they wanted to go check out the brewery as we had a pleasant visit last month. We went to grab lunch and a pint, and it was truly awful there. The beer was good however the service was absolutely horrific. Upon seating Adele informed us that as a party greater than 6, she would not be splitting the bill. Gratuity was 20% and then there was another service fee of 3.5%. It was not a friendly introduction to the restaurant. We ordered flights, Adele was our server and I am sure it was a ‘don’t blame the messenger’ situation, but she came back to our table of 7 and said they were out of flight glasses and then just looked at us. I changed to order a pint as I just had a flight the month before. She never said thanks for being accommodating, my husband asked if we could just wait for dishes to be done and have flights and she didn’t even bother responding. She just waited for more people to change to pints vs flights. It was a Sunday afternoon. There was our party and one other table in the brewery. No one was at the bar. There was absolutely no reason for a brewery to be out of glasses. Our lunch then came out. My pizza in July was fantastic. You can see the updated pics that the pizza’s cheese was burned and the crust was so over done it’s shameful to charge people for it. My friend got the fried pickles and they were raw and uncooked. Another friend had ordered French onion soup and there was no broth- pure oil. Adele then charged her for the soup and my friend asked for it to be taken off - Adele was NOT friendly at all and gave my friend a nasty face and went to say something several times but she changed her mind and walked away to take the soup off the bill. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit here unless there is a complete change in their service. Unfortunate that we were forced to leave a 20% gratuity for such awful service. My friends and I were a pretty amicable group and did not complain or have attitude with the server. Her treatment of guests of the business was very appalling and shameful. July 5, 2024 Service was slow but being the day after the 4th it is to be expected. Beer options were good - something for everyone. We sat outside and had a great view of the lake. My husband and I shared a pizza and fried pickles. My son had the half chicken which he devoured pretty quickly. Definitely recommend a stop here if you’re in the Sackets Harbor area.
