Avis sur Blue Star Brewery San Antonio
What a great strategically placed brewery! It’s the perfect spot to grab a meal and a great beer after a long Mission Trail bike ride! After renting a bike from the Blue Star Bike Shop I rode the trail. By the time I was done, I was starving. This place was only feet away so I decided to stop in. The burger was great and the raspberry beer was so refreshing. The waitress was super nice, I wasn’t sure which beer I wanted so she gave me a taste of the two I was deciding between. Highly recommend stopping in!
Downtown San Antonio is eminently walkable, which is a huge plus in my world. I hate having to find parking in urban spaces. If you are staying on or near the Riverwalk, you can truly walk to just about anywhere that matters. I was at the Hampton Inn, and it was an easy one-mile walk on city streets and the Riverwalk to get to Blue Star. The front desk assured me that it would be safe for a tourist walking through there at night; I took their word for it, and all ended well. I started with a flight of brews, including Flying Pig Extra Pale Ale (5% ABV), Cinco Peso Pale Ale (5% ABV), Green Tractor IPA (6.5% ABV), and Jingle Ale (obviously a seasonal brew; unknown ABV). Each was a hit, although as with most holiday seasonal, one glass is enough. Merry Christmas and all that, but sometimes the flavorings get the better of me. One and done on that. But the Cinco Peso Pale Ale was my fave of the rest, so I had a couple of pints, and also had a 64-ounce growler filled as a souvenir. Yeah. I had to lug that thing a mile back to my hotel. The things you do for good beer. For dinner, I ordered the house-made veggie burger patty served as a lettuce wrap (saving calories for beer, yo). It’s a nice blend of mushrooms, bell peppers, carrots, faro, and black beans. Many standard beef burgers are also on the menu, as well as shrimp, chicken, fish, pork, ribeyes, and more. If you leave hungry, it’s on you. This is a must for visitors craving a local quaff and nosh. Two thumbs up.
We love Blue Star after a long walk/ride at the Mission reach. Great place to sit outside and people-watch and listen to some good tunes. Most of all, we love India!
Highly recommend checking out Blue Star at North Star mall. A hidden gem tucked away underneath the escalators by the food court. If you're a fan of craft beers, frozen margaritas, wines, cocktails or coffee/latte then stop by and get to know the fantastic staff behind the bar. Either Lissy, Ivy or Bree will tend to your needs and no worries you are allowed to walk the mall with those drinks.
Made the trip yesterday from Lacoste tx. and decided to head up to Blue star. Like always we were not disappointed. We had the bacon cheddar burger with fries. After we visited our good friend Jimmy at the blue star bike shop and ended it talking about some potential cafe bike builds. Thank y'all for yalls hospitality and see y'all soon...
Wow, the apple aqua fresco will light up your world at Blue Star Brewing. If you're in San Antonio and looking for a place that combines amazing beer with nachos that will make you question every other nacho you've ever eaten, look no further than Blue Star Brewing. Not only is their beer on point (I’m talking crisp, smooth, and perfect for day-drinking), but the baked nachos here are nothing short of a religious experience. These aren’t your average soggy, cheese-laden disaster nachos – we’re talking perfectly crispy chips, a perfect amount of gooey cheese, and just the right amount of toppings. If nachos had a Michelin star, these would definitely have it. Now, let's talk about the staff. The service at Blue Star is so friendly, it feels like you're hanging out with old friends. For our visit Kayla made the evening with her up beat personality and quick service. The whole place is welcoming, and have that laid-back vibe that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. So, grab your crew, your appetite, and your love for craft beer – Blue Star Brewing is waiting to impress you. And don’t forget to leave room for nachos. Trust me, you'll need it.
This our 2nd time here. Always a good spot to grab something to eat. Beer is always good. This time around we brought our son. They have a good variety of kids options. He got the bean and cheese with fries. I got the fish and chips. Take a look at the serving sizes. lol they are huge. The fish and chips were really good! Fries are hand cut. My wife got the loaded fries. Another good plate. She added some buffalo sauce but it was really good plate. Staff was very friendly and restaurant was very clean. Food was priced well nothing crazy expensive.
Excellent overall! Warm, welcoming staff, an excellent selection of house-brewed beers. The brewmaster has skills. Fish tacos: not fried fish (which I didn’t expect, as all the other fish offerings are fried), but well done nevertheless. Came with a very good (though very salty) bacon bean soup. The star: Tres Leches Cake. Another patron asked me about it. It’s perfect: good crumb, evident layering with a perfect line of filling- topped with a cinnamon dusted whipped cream and crowned with a perfectly sliced strawberry. I wanted two strawberries… the red sangria was fine.
Stopped by to try this place out around 4pm on a Thursday and it did not disapoint! Our kids were with us and they enjoyed the burgers and chicken tenders. Me and the hubby shared a flight and enjoyed all four beers! Fish and Chips were on point and their fries are very, very good! Warning: the garlic fries have 3 tablespoons of minced garlic on them!
Had the mushroom and swiss burger. It was a good portion, and I feel like I got what I paid for. Went on a night that wasn’t too busy- so the servers had enough energy to really take care of us. Everyone we talked to employee-wise was very chill and friendly. The frozen hurricane was very good- i love sweet drinks. Definitely recommend :)
We went to Blue Star Brewing Co. for lunch. The beer is great and the service was excellent. Ask for Ashley when you go there, she was an excellent server. We had the Belgium double, called "Fun Fun", it was excellent. Then Ashley recommended the Barnstormer Quad. It was probably one of the best beers I have ever had. I had the super nachos with brisket. My wife had salad and soup combo. This was an especially excellent lunch excursion. I would highly recommend Blue Star Brewery for both their food and especially their beer.
Nice selection of beers brewed on site to go with their food. The pig pie was pretty nice on a cold day, a pork green chili pot pie.
Blue Star is a nice little brewery restaurant in a nice Blue Star district. The beer wasn't too bad with several different types and styles offered. The food was alright: not the best ever but solid pub food. Service was also okay, not bad but not stellar. This is just a good casual pub/brewery for a good beer and bite
Ambiance: Local brewery with a patio and indoor dining options. Dog friendly and a great spot for large groups or hanging out on a weekend. The chicken fried chicken was okay - not the best but decent! Their beers were okay as well. They didn't have the biggest selection/options IMO but the service was decent and we had a nice time. Parking onsite - does get crowded!
Blue Star Brewing is a great spot just a bit outside the downtown core, right along the River Walk. The location is perfect for a more relaxed vibe, and the outdoor patio area is spacious and dog-friendly—huge bonus! The beers were solid, with a couple of unique and interesting ones that stood out. Not all of them were winners, but the majority of beers were really good! The food was tasty and really hit the spot. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for good brews, good bites, and a chill atmosphere.
Went here for the first time was very happy with the food. Though the their craft beer was a little underwhelming. We had the chips and guacamole as a appetizer. Then we had the bacon cheese burger and some garlic fries. All were very tasty and filling. The only thing I was disappointed on was the craft beers. I got really excited for the barnstormers line they had. It was a fruit flavored beer which went too far with the fruit flavor. It almost just tasted like a wine. Maybe next I'll try something a little more standard. Our waitress was amazing and got everything to us fast and attended to every need.
I called ahead to ask if they had margaritas, they said yes which they kind of do but we all know a real margarita is made w tequila and the ones here are wine based. I feel that’s something you should answer clearly. The jalapeño bombers w brisket are ALL RIGHT ONLY. Mac and cheese is nothing special. I had fish tacos that were very plain. And the burger here also plain. I guess it’s more of a beer place but I had still been wanting to check it out. They do have a good beer selection so if u like that you’ll love it. It was a cute little spot. Outside seating. Oh yea and also there was only TWO tables in the whole restaurant and the waiter still managed to get lost and take forever w us I had to call over the other employee to help us out as well.
Quick overview, wouldn’t recommend Eating here. Only reason I’m leaving a 2 star is because the waitress was nice. Twice I’m been here cause I live right near and the food is trash. I feel bad for the owner because the cooks surly don’t care about what they are serving. Drinks are mediocre as well. It’s San Antonio and you can’t make a decent margarita. I Got the king Williams Ale and beer was hot. I Will update my review later on if go back and try it and the food is better. But for now I wouldn’t recommend this place to grab food and drinks. Location is prime, they just aren’t doing a good job and changing like they are. 🤦♂️ Full pick is what we left and didn’t eat. We went home and got DoorDash
Unfortunately I have to say this was the worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant in 20 years. It was first Friday so we fully expected it to be busy and take a while. That said it took us almost an hour to even get chips and queso. A server lied to us and said the kitchen was on an hour wait, which if true we should have been told when we were sat. It didn’t appear to be true though as everyone around us that came in after us got theirs. When our food did come out, an hour after our arrival it was wrong and not good. My “loaded nachos” were just a pile of chips with unmelted cheese dumped on them- nothing else. I ended up not even eating because I didn’t want to wait another hour. My friend had to get hers to go as everyone else was done eating. Our server didn’t really seem to care, and while our tab was comped, the manager never even came by the table. It basically ruined our whole evening. We used to love this place, it’s sad.
The service was good atmosphere was good. It was a little early in the day so not many people but for sure the food was horrible. I gave you these huge bread pieces with this tiny bit of meat. Inside of it didn’t have much flavor at all. I felt like I was eating cafeteria food, especially when it came to the hamburgers and things like that. The poppers were OK. Presentation was OK but taste and quality not so good at all. I came home and was sick.
The brisket was diabolical. Raw in some parts yet overcooked impossible to chew flavorless and chewy in a bad way. The bread tasted stale. The fruit tasted like it was cut with a knife that was used to cut meat and onions. It was so nasty. I genuinely want a refund. The waitress was nice.
What did the nachos for $12 you think that you could get enough pico de gallo and jalapeño despite me asking for jalapeño didn’t get it it taste and looks like something my son made when he was 12 so I’m not sure why they call it a kitchen. Martin don’t seem to care much whether you were there or not. It’s not a typical bar where you can have a conversation with the bartender don’t look for that unless maybe you are a regular. You will be ignored. Might as well stay home for the food, but the beer seems to be OK
