I just wanted to say how much I appreciated the wonderful experience at your restaurant! Vanessa was exceptional—her beautiful smile and genuine kindness made us feel so welcome. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. And the food was good too. Thank you for such a memorable dining experience!
I ordered something like a chicken pot pie, called Chuckwagon chicken pie. It was soooo good! So much flaky crust. I was in heaven. The atmosphere was awesome too. While there, I was telling the waiter, James, how good it was and a guy from the next table over heard me and said he had the same dish and that it was delicious. Take the trip there. You will be glad you did!
Amazing new restaurant bar completely remodeled from the ground up. Great food, great service and a beautiful motif that matches the Alamo that you can literally see from anywhere in the restaurant including the amazing new patio. Live music, great technology, super fast WiFi, perfect amount of TV’s. Highly recomendable .
Facility was clean with a welcoming western atmosphere. Quick to be seated for lunch time and greeter was friendly and well mannered. The serving were good size portions, with a good flavor. The drinks were mixed well. The waitress was knowledgeable and provided prompt service. Great addition to the alamo experience. It was a rainy cold day so this location also provided a warm welcome from the outdoor cold.
A super fun, rustic, Texas themed Bar and Grill. We instantly loved old western decore in this bar located in a section of the first floor of The historic Crockett Hotel. The theme in here is really just awesome to behold. The bar is extremely well stocked with many types of fine Bourbons, Tequilas, Vodkas and cordials. They also have several delicious local craft beers of spacific note: The Alamo Bock my personal favorite and the Bowie Bock also very good but a little heavier of character. Nico is at the helm here, a amazing young man with flar and talent to set the whole experience off. He crafted up the best Michelda that I have tried yet to date. I strongly recommend this house specialty if you happen in for a drink. We also sampled several different whiskeys and found them all to be exquisite. My wife had a top shelf Margarita crafted by Nico using 818 Tequila while we were there and it was perfectly done and very refreshing. We also tried The Brisket Nachos as an appetizer, they were amazing and we devoured the plate. Nacho chips were fresh fried in house made and laden with queso cheese, jalapeños and Brisket chuncks. We will surely schedule a full lunch or dinner date here when next we are in town.
Only been open about 6 to 8 weeks. I LOVED my ribeye, green beans and oh oh those au gratin potatoes!!! I've never cared for au gratin potatoes. These were amazing. My husband's brisket was ok but not great. The bbq sauce was not good. It was very tender but not much flavor. But my meal was so good we will come back. Plus the staff is wonderful. The manager came to each table to see if any improvement was needed and she was not at all bothered that I was not thrilled with the brisket. She took the criticism with the grace a manager should and i think genuinely wants to improve it. It is TX in a hugely competitive area. To survive it needs to be very good. I don't normally like ribeye. If eating steak I'd want a filet. But wow...that was truly delicious!! The menu is small and I think that's very smart. Give them a try. Get the ribeye.
Oh my gosh!!! I love our Lady sheriff that served us yesterday!!! And the chef came to our table to ask us if we liked the food.!!! It was amazing!! Fried green tomatoes, I had a Frontier salad, very refreshing. My hubby, steak! Really good steak! Our daughter the peach chicken!!! Our son in law, the country fried chicken!!! I got to try it and it was fantastic!Everyone loved their food!! Our daughter, Kelly and her boyfriend were really glad that we picked the tavern for our lunch/dinner.All 6 of us had to board our plane so we couldn't bring it with us . We hated leaving. Pleasant place and hospital. I'm just so thankful we stayed at the Crockett and got to eat at the 🍺 tavern! I'm already planning on coming back. If you go, make sure you go to their coffee bar in the morning. The best coffee in the area! And we are coffee people. ☕
Much better than before! Semi-new restaurant/ bar located inside the hotel. 💝s Day here in the SA. The staff was learning some new software, guess a few bugs still need working out. Our server was 100% Alamo City friendly. The food was just okay. The menu is kinda disjointed and extremely busy. The desert musta came from Sam's club or Cisco. All in all, this new restaurant is a good addition to the hotel! Plotted. Scouts Out.
“I got the bean soup.” “I wanted the cactus fries.” “Are you sure? They look like pickles.” “What? No!! Just smell ‘em. That’s cactus.” “Great way to end the hot day.” “Hazy yummy!!” [we wanted something light as it was hot out and we got it.] Nice place. Close to the Alamo Plaza, nicely decorated, good menu, fair prices. I was worried that it was “tourist trap” but was pleased with what I found. i’d change the cactus spears to chips, change the breading a little and add some spice to it. They’re an interesting change of pace but a little bland for my taste. I came early (1800 on a Monday night) so i can’t tell you what a weekend crowd is like but if you make/keep a reservation you i don’t think you’d be disappointed.
Located in the Historic Crockett Hotel, the restaurant has a western bar feel. Awesomely decorated with cowboy hats and boots and historical artifacts. Good and drinks are excellent. Had the Deep Fried Eggplant, Chicken Fried Chicken. Live music was great! Not to loud where you couldn’t have a conversation. Highly recommended!
Stumbled upon this place while downtown one day. Stopped in for a beer but ended up staying and ordering food. The atmosphere is very TEXAS!! If you love Texas and love Davey Crockett, you will definitely love this place! If you want to enjoy a casual lunch, a romantic dinner, or just a drink with family/friends. The atmosphere is great for that. The food was absolutely delicious and was decorated with the most adorable Texas flag and pickle spear! We will definitely return. On a side note, check out the lobby. It has a lot of history to look at! Pictured: Queso and chips The Beast burger- with bacon The Brisket chopped burger
Crockett Tavern was a great choice for me traveling solo and wanting a nice, quiet place to eat dinner outside. The food was great and the servers were friendly. Highly recommend the Bonham Brisket Plate. The Garrison Brothers BBQ sauce served with the brisket was so delicious I had to ask for more (pro tip: dip your fries in the bbq sauce. No ketchup needed). Outside seating was so nice at night and the area can get really quiet for a peaceful dinner. I’ve added Crockett Tavern to my list of places to eat at next time I visit SA.
Happy Hour, 3-6pm, Monday-Friday. Great prices. I had diet coke withvodka($3), spouse had frozen margarita ($4). Chips and queso ($4.5) and Fried green tomato 🍅 ($6). Chips were excellent, I thought the fried green tomatoes were disgusting but my spouse loved them. ( I was too afraid 😨 to try them) One block off riverwalk, next to Alamo. Great ambiance with outdoor seating.
Good Food & Service, will come back! Here is the longer review… We came here around 4pm on very busy Saturday in the area - partly because of other reviews and it did not look too busy yet. Thankfully, we were seated right away and had a very responsive and friendly server. We started with the handmade Chicken Tenders and that was a solid 5/5-stars (crispy, tasty coating, very tender and moist inside, piping hot!) For entrees, the 3 of us had: - Crockett Burger (it’s a double) w/Fries - Brisket plate - Pork Ribs plate My teenage son eats a lot of burgers and he was pretty happy & impressed with this one (4/5) My wife and I shared the Brisket & Ribs. I’m glad she shared her ribs with me (5/5), as the brisket was not too great (3/5). To be fair, I have had a lot of good, mediocre and poor BBQ as a Texan and if the brisket or ribs aren’t even as good as I can do at home in my smoker… we’ll, that’s disappointing. That being said - the Ribs were very good (although pre-covered in a decent sauce - but I prefer sauce on the side and only “if necessary”). The brisket was lean side and it was quite lean and a little on the dry side for me. Decent taste on both - I think there is some real smoke in the cook. But what REALLY bothered me most was that my wife’s rib plate came with a bounty of meaty, fall off the bone ribs that were great (prob 2/3 to 3/4 pound) and for about the same price my brisket plate had 6 pretty thin, Very underwhelming size slices - maybe 4-5oz. This is Nothing like what I’d seen in other pics from reviews as recent as 1 week ago! This is a True “c’mon man” scenario. But this is what they gave me to give my review upon. BTW - You can see my uploaded pics for relative comparison - although we already ate 2 ribs off the plate, so that is under-represented. The brisket looks like an afterthought, a “sample” size in my house. I don’t serve my friends and family that small of brisket portions! Ok, rant over Anyway, I still give this place a solid Win for everything overall. The food was good to great. The beer on tap was very cold and great on a 90* March day! And the atmosphere & staff made it a great experience. “Recommend” yes - but skip the brisket, you can do a lot better here in TX!
We visited Crockett Tavern for dinner on 6/29 in San Antonio, TX. This restaurant was right next door to our hotel and very convenient. We had a reservation and were easily able to accommodate our family group of 12. Unfortunately, the restaurant did not do anything about all the people standing around behind our table. The live music was awesome and many of us found ourselves singing along with the musician. Our server, Jessica was awesome and very friendly. She even helped us take photos of our group. The food and the service were awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone that visits the San Antonio area!
Very nice and chilled restaurant next to the Alamo. It's got a lot of old artifacts from the 19th century, so it's especially interesting if you're a tourist. We came in the afternoon and had the restaurant almost to ourselves. Daniel was a great help choosing food and drinks making this a nice relaxing visit after playing tourist.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Crockett Tavern! The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, the food and drinks were top-notch, but what truly made our visit memorable was our incredible bartender, Daniel. Hands down one of the best chicken fried chicken plates I’ve had! And the garlic mashed potatoes… *chefs kiss* Service was flawless, vibes were immaculate, and honestly, if Daniel isn’t employee of the year, we demand a recount. 11/10 would recommend!
Stopped at this cool spot while on our way to the Alamo. When looking in the window the manager let us in for a preview. Omg the inside was so cool we couldn’t wait to come back to eat. So after our Alamo tour we had lunch. The food was amazing the waiter Mike was superb and I would recommend this location to everyone. We had the ribs and the green beans tasted so good. I had the peach salad and it was delicious. So for dessert we had the peach 🍑 cobbler with ice cream!! So good. Just love the atmosphere and the service was off the chart! If your in the area come in and check it out. If your lucky enough to have Mike as your server you will have an amazing 😻 experience!
It can be a bit unclear as to where the hostess is located depending on which entrance used to enter. There is signage to assist but the signage also isn't very helpful in resolving the issue. I saw multiple groups walk into the entrance which makes sense to be the main entrance for hotel guests who looked lost trying to find the hostess. I personally helped three different groups to locate the hostess and witnessed one other group help someone else. The Beast Burger was very good and the onion rings were spot on. I would have preferred a bit more seasoning on both the burger and onion rings. I would have also enjoyed a bit more of their special sauce on the burger or at least having the sauce on both sides of the bun. There was some on the bottom bun but zero sauce in the onion ring. The onion rings were fantastic, outside of the seasoning. I initially asked for the cactus fries but was informed that they didn't have any more prepared for the night. Overall I really enjoyed the burger and onion rings. The server was great when around but wasn't around for a while to refill our tea.
The BEST place to eat in San Antonio. Melissa makes the best drinks, the food is AMAZING, service is great! Live music almost every night. We stayed here for 5 nights and ended up eating here 4 of them because it was so great. Everything is made fresh and their brisket is wonderful. Very reasonably priced! We had nachos with brisket, bean and brisket tacos, wings (all pictured) and a grilled cheese and brisket sandwich with onion rings (no picture because it was all eaten before we even thought of it) All are highly recommended.
We visited this restaurant during a recent stay in San Antonio. It’s very conveniently located near the Alamo and Riverwalk. We went in a Monday night, so we didn’t need any reservations and were seated immediately, and it was not too crowded. When we arrived, there was some live music playing country music, but it wrapped up by the time our meals arrived. The decor is pretty cool with lots of western memorabilia, Alamo murals, and stuffed wildlife. It’s part of the Crockett Hotel, so they seem to take good care of the place. Food came out pretty quick, and service was pleasant. I had the brisket grilled cheese which was great! Definitely worth checking out if you’re in San Antonio or visiting the Alamo!
Went there on Birthday trip for my girlfriend, had just came from the Menger bar (also cool place) can so without a doubt that although is may not be on the Riverwalk, that it is hands down one of the BEST places we have gone to in San Antonio, food was excellent (get the brisket grilled cheese you wont regret it) they had an INCREDIBLE live performance but this guitar player who was a young Chris Stapleton in sound style and talent. Finally a huge special thanks to (sheriff) Harold who was a great waiter and made the whole experience over the top.
We were visiting the Alamo, my husband was looking for an electric scooter so we could cruise around. (I am injured and have to use a scooter). We were hungry and I happen to be checking this place out that we were in front of. So we decided to eat here and it was a great choice. They did not disappoint! The decor I'd fantastic, great atmosphere and friendly staff. They put as at a table that had plenty of room for my scooter. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, they were the best we have ever had and that sauce 😋. We also ordered the brisket and bean tacos, they were great though they are messy. The tea was perfect!
What a fantastic spot by The Alamo in San Antonio!! True Texas feel as soon as you walk in with the taxidermy, western decor, Alamo touches and of course, Davey Crockett. My husband and I sat at the bar…. Lazy hot sunny Thursday afternoon in San Antonio. Our bartender, Daniel, was fantastic! Great at cocktail and beer recommendations for us to get started. My husband ordered the Pecan Old Fashioned and Daniel convinced me the Cucumber martini was what I was craving and he was right! I had him muddle a slice of jalapeño in addition to the cucumber and the Chamoy rim was absolutely delicious! We got that appetizer sampler and the mushroom au gratin to share. Chicken tenders with the country gravy (chefs kiss) and I tried fried cactus strips for the first time ever - I’d describe them someone between a fried pickle (without the pickle taste and a fried avocado) but really tasty! My husband loved the au gratin but I wasn’t as impressed as I thought. It was good but I wasn’t wowed. Guacamole and chips! Very good! Honestly the best part was the cocktails and the service! Absolutely 100% recommend and would absolutely come back next time I’m in San Antonio!
I had the bbq brisket sandwich and fries. The fries were AMAZING. They were seasoned perfectly! The sandwich had tons of flavor and was served with fried onions and coleslaw. You would not regret this choice! For desert I had a pecan pie that was delicious. The first slice I had was extra thin and small….. I didn’t say anything, just ate it and enjoyed it…. But then to my surprise, the waitress came over with another LARGER slice! She said she felt bad giving me such a small piece! She didn’t have to do that, but she did. That to me makes the service here top notch! Come enjoy the atmosphere, live music, and delicious food!
Oh I loved this place. It definitely has the San Antonio historic vibe being so close to the Alamo. The food was kind of all of your favorites, I loved the fried cactus. The fried tomatoes were also great. I couldn't make up my mind on the appetizers so we just got the tower. It was all really good. Everybody that was with us liked their food. The beer selection on top was pretty great. Our service was excellent. Derrick really took care of us and was very thoughtful. Checked in often but not too much. And we came on a Sunday evening and got to have a full dinner and relaxed evening without feeling like we had to be rushed out of a place that closed too early.
On a recent visit to San Antonio we decided to stop in at the Crockett Tavern. It was a good choice. Delightful 1800s Texas decor, very relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. I had the chicken pot pie which was excellent. Flaky, brown crust filled with tender chicken and vegetables. Sharon had the bison, bacon burger. She was not impressed. The burger didn't seem to be fresh. Split decision on Crockett's Tavern.
Phenomenal food and experience. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. The burgers were delicious and the fries had wonderful seasoning. It was very charming in regards to the ambiance. I am surprised when we went it was very quiet and not many people there. The food is great and the service is excellent. We highly recommend!
Food was excellent, daughter got the chicken strips and loved them. I got the Beast burger, it was so juicy and full of flavor. Our waitress (Hannah) was amazing and extremely nice.
The whole experience was absolutely great. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Already looking forward to the next time. The fried cracklings were surprisingly delicious with the unexpected barbq sauce.
Amazing experience! The service was very friendly and attentive. The fish and chips were absolutely perfect! I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place!
Enjoyed a few drinks during New Years, and had a great time! Our server, Ocean, was so kind and an attentive and helpful with any questions we had! She definitely made the experience! Thank you!
Stayed in the Crockett hotel for a work weekend and really enjoyed the Tavern in the lobby. Great food and service. They have a really good service team. Live music on the weekends. Good times!
3 of us stopped here for dinner after a family Christmas celebration. Our waiter had tons of personality! (formerly from H-town) I ordered the Fredericksburg chicken salad with seared peaches. Huge fresh portion. The peach vaingrette was so good. It made the salad "over the top". Fish n chip, again huge portions, fresh & crispy. Daughter had Bonham grilled cheese brisket sandwich with tomato basil soup. Everybody was impressed. We will be back again.
What a fabulous place !! I ordered the fried green tomatoes and the chicken wings. The wings were perfect ! I enjoyed the fried green tomato’s as well , I’m just a chicken wing connoisseur. Angelica was our waitress and she was very attentive, friendly and kind! We will definitely go back !
Came on a Saturday night- surprisingly empty but went off google reviews and walked in, sat right away. Waitress was accommodating and prompt. Our food was delicious, my friends ordered burgers and also had gluten free bun. I got the boracho beans and brisket soup and it was delicious and also got an order of fries which were crisp salty and hit the spot. We were really satisfied and glad we tried this new spot out. Didn’t take pics but I wil def be back and recommend to others.
This place is awesome. Went for lunch and the customer service from the moment we walked in was AMAZING! The food was so good. I ordered the queso and chips as an appetizer and then my daughter and I shared the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Everything was so delish. The atmosphere when we were there was quiet. Convos at other tables were low. Very nice place. Definitely coming back here.
Great atmosphere! Staff was very patient, polite and willing to dig deep to accommodate food allergies (soy, peanuts, hazelnuts). The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the Bowie Beast Burger that had Wagyu Beef, elk, Bison and Wild Boar. This place is just steps from the Alamo. It’s a great way to keep the groove going.
Deliciosa comida y buen servicio
Went here just to get our kiddos some food close to our hotel and we were not disappointed!! It's vibe is so historic, the atmosphere made the meal honestly. The service was good, our poor waiter ran a little ragged for the end of his shift, but he was so sweet. The food was good, chicken was a bit dried out and it kinda seemed like our food had been setting there for a minute. The FRIED GREEN TOMATOES where were it's at!!If you want that cool western historic vibe this is definitely your place!
Stopped in while downtown for lunch. Atmosphere was great and food was good. Located right next to the Alamo. Parking can be a bit rough. If you plan to stay a while for other attractions finding parking is worth it. I felt the food was tasteful. Service was quick and courteous. Atmosphere was needed with the old west/tex feeling.
This tavern is decorated with period pieces and it’s pretty cool. The service is attentive and friendly. My friend ordered cactus fries and I ordered smoked brisket nachos. The order of nachos was huge, and I couldn’t finish it, even though I was very hungry and I have a huge appetite. They were pretty tasty. The cactus fries were interesting. The flavor was alright, but the breading came off easy, especially when dipped into the accompanying sauce, so it was kinda messy.
Spectacular atmosphere, and delicious food. Walking into the attached hotel is an experience itself. The bar was very cool, drinks were very good and reasonably priced($10/glass of Sangria). Food was bang on! Fried chicken sandwich was juicy and tender, almost falling apart. Chili cheese fries were plentiful, nicely seasoned with salt and complimented by cheese and awesome chili, with just enough spice so anyone can enjoy. There was live music when we were there and it wasn’t too loud so you could still have a conversation. Highly recommend stopping here for the history, and stay for a bite to eat!
Nice place, very warm inside, ac would've been nice. The food was decent, I ordered the burger with cheese, and one patty was too pink and the other was cooked. My bf ordered the ribs, and he liked them. Margarita mine was delicious, and he didn't like his. In all a decent place but probably wouldn't go again.
Had lunch there upon arriving in Sa Antonio and enjoyed the food and service. Our server Jeremiah was very attentive and with some nice recommendations. The chicken fried chicken was really good, and the chicken pot pie, one of the best I've had in a while. Decent atmosphere with great decorations.
We enjoyed our time at Crocket’s Tavern and we had great service provided by Hannah. The food was super yummy and the live music was a surprise and was so good. The atmosphere is great and definitely made you appreciate the effort to create a great space. With the music, it was a bit hard to have conversations at the table. All good, bust just good to now ahead of time. We ordered the Rodeo Sampler,Chicken fried chicken , Peach Fried Chicken Salad, Brisket Sandwich and Ribs. All very yummy.
Reserved a table at a later time expecting less visitors. At 9 PM there were few tables, if any, but I was seated immediately. Live music was on, unless you are deaf or a fan, you may take a table near a very talented but load performer. I was grateful for the receptionist lady to offer me a quiter place to enjoy the music and still preserve my hearing. As many noted, the service was on a slow side, but still friendly and thoughtful. Somehow they ran out of all entrées, except for burgers and fajitas. Not a fan of the former, I order the latter and an appetiser. The tomato soup with basil and cheese was absolutely delicious, whilst chicken fajitas were unimpressive and tasteless. The cocktails were remarkable. I ordered the "Davy Crockett smash" and the "Dragon fruit" and both were perfect.
Food was decent, but the mixed drink had much to be desired. Hubby ordered a barrel aged Manhattan that was truly subpar. The glass was half full and tasted like the bourbon was missing. Not good! The entertainment for the evening was terrible and so loud you couldn't carry on a conversation.
Cute place but needs work. Walked in, no one at the bar or host stand. Wanted to sit at a low top table but few available and something was leaking with towels all over the floor, didn’t want to sit at that. Ordered chicken pot pie, was excited. It arrived kind of dry on the inside , not much creamy filling like you’d expect, and like the filling was prepared a couple days before because the chicken tasted old. Was excited for the potatoes au gratin. They weren’t creamy . Just potatoes chopped up, baked with cheese on top. Bar was cute looking.
The drinks were decent and the service was good but the food...not so much. The salad portion of my meal was good but the chicken they served was inedible. I would have been embarrassed if I were them to serve the completely dried out chicken that looked as though it had been cooked days before and left in a fridge uncovered until it was hard as a brick. I actually almost spilled my entire plate when i first tried to stick my fork in the chicken not realizing it was totally dried out and my fork couldn't even penetrate it. This is only the second time in my nearly 40 years of life the food was so bad I had to say something. They did bring me new chicken that was at least better, but it was still extremely overcooked and honestly I just didn't care to eat it. Pictures show the dried out chicken and then the plate of chicken they brought to replace it as a comparison.
Apparently going through some transition pains and not quite the place it used to be. Service was rather inattentive, full menu was not available, and the quality is down from past experiences. Hopefully they will get it together in the near future with the amount of other dining options nearby.
Service is ok, we had a nice waiter. It got busy shortly after we arrived and that slowed some things down as well as my order being partially incorrect and the cook(*or someone from the back- a runner) brought out the same incorrect food item. They eventually brought it out correctly. My food selection were the ribs ... Baked but hey, this isn't a BBQ spot. Sides were decent.
First time we visited there we had to go find a waitress. Second time we stopped in to get food to go and they said they were really backed up and it was going to be almost an hour before we can get food so we left. Third time's a charm we went in and the service was good and the food was good.
Wasn't very busy during lunch and took forever to get our burgers. Mine was overcooked. Atmosphere was cool, but not a great experience.
The environment was super cool, but the server took a long time to come to my table and it was pretty empty. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and the brisket bean tacos off the appetizer menu. The tomatoes had literally zero seasonings on them, and fried green tomatoes are one of my favorite foods. I had to put SO much salt to even taste anything except the batter. The bean tacos came with this green salsa but it smelled like it was fermenting or someone poured alcohol in it, so I didnt add that on there, but the tacos themselves just tasted like beans. My husband got the fried shrimp and those were pretty tasty. I'm sure its a cool place to hang out, the staff seemed really nice, the bar was big and the bartender seemed friendly, atmosphere was cool, our server was just MIA and food was a little disappointing.
The service was very poor. More than one person tried to take our drink Order but after that, things went down hill. It took a long time to get our server to take our order, then a very long time to get food. I went looking for our server to find out where things went. Then when it came out one item wasn’t made correctly. They whisked the plate off so fast my child sat there while we ate waiting for his burger to be done correctly. It would have been good to leave it there so that at least he had his fries… and though they got it refired and out relatively quickly, they never did bring his drink that came with the child’s food. They did comp the order that was wrong but it was a long time at the restaurant experiencing poor service.
The atmosphere is really cool. The value for the appetizers is really lacking. We got 2 appetizers at about $15 each and there wasn’t enough for 4 of us to have 2 pieces each per appetizer. Our server was really good, but the restaurant was out of several things we wanted, so their availability sucked. It was an issue with multiple items we tried to order. Drinks took an extremely long time to get, and we were there before they got busy. They took so long, by the time the server delivered the last beer I ordered, we were ready to go and I didn’t want it anymore. He comped it and gave it to me to go because he knew they were about to eat it anyway. In summary, the food was good and our server was really good. The value was lacking for appetizers, but the main courses had adequate portions for the price charged. Mgmt probably needs to be replaced to solve the availability and service issues we had.
Our server (I'm thinking he was new) was def confused a lot, restaurant wasn't busy, and we had to ask for things several times over. We ordered queso and chips, the chips were thin, greasy and tasted fishy. The queso itself was good, but was missing the charred green tomato salsa and when I asked about it (twice) it was brought out and dumped on top Of the cheese. I had a Bloody Mary, but had to send it back because it came out as a bloody Maria, which I totally would have drank, but the waiter took it away and came back a few mins later with the Bloody Mary, which was watery and not super tasty. Overall I'd give the live entertainer the most stars! He was great picking his guitar and even took requests and sang HBD to our friend. I also had to ask several times for the speakers outside to be turned off so we could hear the guitar player. Why? Common sense would say to be courteous to the artist and turn it off before he starts! Would recommend skipping this place. The inside decor was nice though.
The only thing that was good last night was the Blackberry Lemonade. We had a group of eight and had tons of problems. First the wait staff was slow, adn we got to a point where one of our group actually got up herself to hunt down silverware. On top of that, the meals game out at different times to the point that "eat, I don't want yours to get cold" and half our group was done before the last two meals came out. We had one vegetarian in the group and she asked if she could just get a grilled cheese; instead being given the grilled cheese brisket sandwich. I had the Bowie Beast Burger and it was underwheming. Based on the meats mixed I expected a unique flavor but didn't notice anything. Additionally, the sauce was spicy (for me). The french fries were cold. The only things on my plate I enjoyed were the coleslaw and the pickle. The music was so loud that we couldn't have a basic conversation.
Ordered enchiladas, said it came with 3 “hand rolled” enchiladas. Tasted like they were just microwaved. (The shell was super stale and hard) it said it comes smothered in red sauce, in reality they just dumped chili on it and called it a day. Between two orders of enchiladas, chips and queso, and two drinks the order came out to be $90. Not worth it if you ask me. The live music was good though.
Such a bad experience overall. Slow service. The pictures online are probably props because the plates looked NOTHING like the pics. The taste was horrible and the food was cold. I wish I had never mentioned trying this place out. You live and learn.
Our server Erik was very inattentive and made our meal very displeasing in more than one way. At one point he took my only napkin from In front of my plate mid-meal and this is a one napkin with silverware type of restaurant. Long delays for water refills and server often passed table to socialize with other guests, at one point joining them at the table seated and everything. After he palmed some cash from the nearest table he passed our table 3 more times to clean other tables after checking that some of our items hadn't been brought to the table.... at that point a good server would have stopped wiping tables and done nothing but brought the missing items and I still had to ask again and he irritatedly reply it's coming and then brought soggy chips to our cold dip and 2 "extra" tortillas for our now cold fajita plate. I can't believe he took my only napkin though seriously. I had to go take a new silverware off a different table, he works so he knows that was my only napkin. avoid this place if staying at The Crockett Hotel they are unaffiliated and unsatisfying.
First of all, this is my first and last time here at this Tavern at the Crockett Hotel. I am actually staying here at the Hotel. This place is in Desperate Need of a new cook or cooks! I've read previous reviews and honestly, lm in disbelief. They have either been drunk or have no taste buds. Food is way over priced, get rid of all the cooks, food or both. Because l travel quit a bit, l unfortunately sometimes have to eat out. I been in some hole in the wall places, where the cooks and food were top rated and vise versa. My mistake thinking that anywhere downtown in SA, around the Menger and Crockett Hotels that their food should be good, if not great. But.lm often reminded that both Hotels are owned and operated by the State. Their menu is simple, so no need to dress up the food. It is what it is. Twice already, in just 2 days, minus 78.00 dollars later, lm sitting in my hotel room hungry!!! Now, l have ordered a Lyft to take me to a real restaurant. People who are hungry, you been warned. Margaritas, for my liking aren't fixed frozen enough.... Ho,Ho,Ho....Merry Christmas
PLEASE DONT GO THERE!!!!! My family and I had a very bad experience; we were treated terribly. We waited more than 20 minutes to be served, and we called other waiters from other tables to come and take our order. After that, the waiter forgot my plate of food, even though I was the one who ordered first. Between 7:35 pm and 8:44 pm they offered us no napkins, forks, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Save your money and a bad experience there. I am always patient and VERY UNDERSTANDING when I go to a restaurant, but this time I experienced very bad service and attention; 3 waiters and a supervisor who were completely useless.
Took 7 minutes for hostess to acknowledge I was standing there. Once wife and myself were sat at a table, I noticed many of the tables were either empty or customers had no food or beverages. We sat at our table for 20 minutes and no one came to take either a food or drink order. As I walked out another table asked how long we were waiting, when I told them 20 minutes they got up and exited the restaurant as well. For a restaurant, bar to be in such a tourist location.they should really work on service. Especially after having to pay 30 plus dollars to park. Total waste of time
Food is disgusting, all microwaved and served cold, chicken, mashed potatoes and vegetables tasted like chemical irritant, awful. This is a usual tourist trap, unsuspecting visitors not knowing the area are being robbed, street vendors have much better food offerings, albeit even McD is much better. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Nachos and chicken fried chicken and two iced teas was total of $83, absolutely terrible, they stole our money, we complained and the waitress said a manager would come to our table to discuss, waited 27 minutes, and you guessed it, NO MANAGER EVER SHOWED, we left disgusted.
