Rob was our server on an early Saturday evening. He was amazing as was the cranberry freeze cocktail, the apple n spice cocktail. Can never go wrong with the lettuce wraps, dumplings and cucumber salad. It all came our expeditiously and we left in time to get to our event that evening. We will be back and try something new! Great venue, food, service with Rob and prices are affordable.
Tell me why this is my fav Chinese cuisine in the city. We came on a weekday and surprisingly it wasn't that busy. We had the best server. She went above and beyond for us. We started with a few appetizers. I would definitely get the fried dumplings over the steamed. The steamed were ok but the fried dumplings were much better. The lettuce wraps are a must. You could even order those as your entree. Lettuce wraps = 10/10. The appetizer egg rolls were ok. The sauce had all the flavor. I ordered the sesame chicken as my entree. It was totally giving. I would say 8/10. I think next time I would get the fried rice instead of the white rice. If you're in the quarry area, definitely check out PF Changs.
The first Chinese restaurant that has truly surprised me with its delicious flavors, delicate textures, and a perfect balance between Chinese and Western tastes. I wouldn't say their food is a fusion, but their dessert... mmm... very Western, I'd say. Highly recommended! Five stars!
As a veteran, I respected the free meal on Veterans Day, and it made the meal taste that much better. I keep forgetting how great this place is. Although the bartender was confused, I guess from the influx of customers, she was not attentive, and I was skipped a few times when I needed a refill.
My huaband & I had a great dinner tonight ! Our server was Sarah and was awesome checking in on us and making sure we were getting everything we aaked for. We each had 2 coxktails with dinner & she made some drink suggestions for each of us and we loved them. My husband had their Old Fashion and I had the Dragon Marg , & a Mai Tai...so good. Thanks for the super dinner experience Sarah & Pf Changs, we'll be back
I had their pork dumplings as an appetizer with a kid's size sweet and sour chicken for my main course. It was great and then a chocolate peanut butter cupcake for dessert. All of it was delicious.
Our server Alex R. was wonderful! I am vegetarian and he recommended some wonderful food items that I could eat and they were delicious!! The bubble drink was amazing as well, highly recommend!!
My family of 5 had a late lunch today and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted immediately by the hostess and sat right away. Our server was Charis and she was sweet and attentive. Brought our drinks right away and The house manager walked by to see how we were doing. Having 3 very busy kids can be a hassle to keep them entertained so I appreciated the check in. Soon after, our appetizer came out along with lettuce wraps on the house. Hand delivered by the house manager himself. Idk if he could sense that I’ve had a few stressful days but his kind gesture along with a big smile brought sunshine to my cloudiness. Our entrées came out soon after and everything was so delicious!!! I actually ate!!! Kindness is what we all need. What our world needs. Makes such a huge impact. Thank you so much for a wonderful dining experience.
Stopped by P.F. Chang's to celebrate the beautiful San Antonio weather, and was pleased by the decor of the restaurant especially the Terracotta soldiers replicas that stand on platforms four feet above the floor. The staff is very friendly and professional, we arrived around 12:30 and were quickly seated. Our waiter arrived within 4 minutes making it possible to quickly order. Our waiter asked if we wanted empty plates so that we could share each other's order; we did. Our plates arrived in reasonable time and we quickly started sharing and eating. The food is good, tasty and each plate is very reasonable.
My husband and I went on a Saturday evening, and though the service was busy, they handled it well. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, while my husband chose beef and broccoli. We both enjoyed fried rice; he had a beer, and I tried their version of an Old Fashioned. Old Fashioneds are my favorite, and this one was absolutely delicious! There were plenty of couples on dates, and a birthday party was happening while we were there. Whenever I crave Chinese food, I always go to P.F. Chang's!
Sarah Day was an excellent hostess for our large holiday party gathering for the EastSide Pregnancy Care Center. She provided very attentive service, was cheerful and polite to our large group, and accommodated all of our requests. We had a wonderful evening, thanks in large part to Sarah. Shelby, the general manager, was also a pleasure to work with as she helped us pick out menu items for our group. We look forward to having another gathering here in the near future.
Never go wrong at this place! New appetizers: pork Chinese tacos. That's my description. Mini pork tacos with wonderful sauce, sliver of cucumbers & rosemary. Only regret...should have had 2 orders with meal. Yummy all the way around!
Rob could not have been more sincere and lovely!!! I was thinking won ton soup . Advised me on the size perfectly!!! He took each order, being sure to note the spicy degree. We only had water and he made some even warm with lemon. Was so nice!!! Energy level was perfectly suited to our party of four. An early dinner🙌 Bravo Rob
We had an amazing experience at P.F. Chang’s, and a huge part of that was thanks to our server, Cristin. She truly went above and beyond to make my little sister’s 21st birthday feel so special. From the moment we sat down, her service was attentive, friendly, and genuine. She made sure everything was perfect and really added to the celebration. The service was excellent, and Cristin’s energy and care made the evening memorable for all of us. Thank you for such a great experience!
We had a wonderful server Alex. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and special that was going on. We enjoyed all the attention he gave to make sure we were having all our needs met! Went above and beyond with our drinks, and when our food was running late he made sure to check in with us periodically. We never felt forgotten or too needy. No ask was too great. Thank you Alex for making our date night extra wonderful!
Exceptional Service and a Truly Memorable Dining Experience Our recent visit to J. Alexander’s was outstanding from start to finish. The service was top notch—professional, attentive, and genuinely focused on making our evening special. Our waiter, Matthew, was excellent in every way. He anticipated our needs, checked in at all the right moments, and clearly cared about ensuring we had a great experience. We were celebrating my mom’s 72nd birthday, and the staff went above and beyond by having a signed birthday card waiting for her at the table. That thoughtful touch set the tone for the night. A special shoutout also goes to Eric, the grill master, whose professionalism truly stood out. He personally checked on how our meals were prepared and made sure everything met our expectations. When one of our steaks came out slightly overcooked, Eric handled it with genuine care—apologetic, attentive, and committed to getting it right. He insisted on recooking it himself, and the replacement steak was absolutely perfect. As for the food, everything was delicious. My wife’s tenderloin was incredibly tender, my prime rib was rich and flavorful, and my mom’s New York Strip was cooked beautifully. And the Hong Kong Shrimp deserves its own spotlight—fabulous, full of flavor, and honestly something I could order as a main dish every time. J. Alexander’s is a classy restaurant in a great location, and the combination of excellent service, thoughtful touches, and expertly prepared food made this a night to remember. Highly recommended!
Love this place! We come here every time we are in San Antonio to visit family. Would definitely recommend the steak and fries. And of course...the carrot cake!! Came on New Year's Day and had a wonderful experience. Our waiter, Julio, was absolutely amazing! Very attentive and helpful! Salmon was excellent!
Milo, provided THE best most personable service in The Great State of Texas. Wish you the best in all your endeavors. Jules, you too were amazing. Wish there were more smiles and sparkly energy like yours on this planet. There would be no wars! Look out for the sharp dressed, well mannered Alfonso! He is epitome of professional, lovable, management. Alfonso has put together an amazing staff and the food is of the highest standard. It's hard to believe how inexpensive the menu is. With absolute we'll return and tell our friends.
This was my first time trying this restaurant. I only tried it because of my Amex benefit and it being on Resy. I was very impressed with the price, value, portion, taste, atmosphere, and customer service! I ordered the lunch special Brassaiure chicken. Very yummy and the sides of broccoli and smashed potatoes were great. I definitely will be back to try other menu items! The place was also very busy, which was a sign of a great to place to eat!
A newer AH institution, smack in the middle of the Quarry. Been coming in since early 2000’s. All round good place for private meal with friends, business lunch, family dinner, place to meet before going out. Consistently has good food quality, menu changes so you don’t get bored eating the same thing. Great place to have a steak. Veggies on offer changes. The best thing - carrot cake dessert, served reminiscent of slab cake with a flowy cream cheese frosting on top and hint of pineapple flavor baked in. Bar area if it’s a quick stop or waitlisted Definitely an upscale friendly atmosphere. Darker woods and dimmer lighting. You can dress coastal Texas casual-Tommy Bahama; might feel most comfortable in a preppy, boho, golfy or suit aesthetic.
I have never been here before but decided to try it out. We were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted quickly. Our waitress, Gabby, was kind and helpful. The drinks were yummy and refreshing. The food came out quickly and was delicious. The portions were great size. I had the fish tacos and they were very tasty. Everything seemed fresh like true home cooking not premade meals that they just heat up. We got some dessert! They were huge! We will definitely be back and make this one of our regular places to visit!
Consistency is the word with J. Alexander’s. I’ve been coming to this location since 2010 and literally everything tastes and amazes me as it did back then. I always order the spinach queso as an appetizer and it never disappoints. Normally, I order the lemon drop martini (totally recommend) but this time I got the midnight margarita. Again, this margarita is 100%. So tasty and so on point. Service was excellent for a busy Saturday night. All their staff works together and helps move things along with re-fills and pre-bussing the table. I always order the French Dip sandwich, classic and incredible 10/10. My friend ordered the Steak. Cooked to perfection great quality cut of meat. I can never come here without ordering a slice of their warm carrot cake. I dream about this cake. Everything here is served with the utmost detail. 10/10 for everything. I will always recommend and come back to this place.
Favorite of San Antonio flame cooked artichokes are a Notoriety for this place and they are yummy 😋 Prime Rib always perfected… I suggest have them put grill marks on your order, does not have to cha he your choice on done. ✔️ Being a Cigar connoisseur I have (as long as your not being a jerk outside to others … found them to no mind an after dinner smoke on the patio. But one one down wind … easy to understand why and respect the common area for all. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+
First time here! Will be back!! Sunday shopping for my new spot at the Quarry after a search for steak near me. J.Alexander’s was the Google suggestion, right across the street from the new HomeGoods. Worked out! Started with a Wedge Salad, the lettuce was fresh and crisp, dressing was one of the best and creamiest blue cheese I’ve had. Definitely a top 5! Followed with the Prime Rib accompanied with the smashed potatoes. Potatoes were delicious, and perfectly seasoned. Prime Rib could use some quality improvement. Unfortunately the excessiveness in nerve and rough fatty was far from what a prime rib should be, needless to say I will be back. My server “Joshua” was super helpful and even offered to replace my steak but all in all it was a great experience that ended with one of the best key lime pie slices I’ve ever had. Therefore 5 stars is a must for this place.
Stopped in for a quick lunch. I ordered the Thai Kai salad and the flavor was bursting, plus it was very filling for a salad. Also our server Shawn was very friendly and gave great feedback on my questions about some of the menu items. Update 12/12/2024: Back in for dinner, I had to add some updated pics. Forgot to get our dinner pics, but the Filet Mignon is amazing! And I loved the Smoked Salmon Dip and Deviled Eggs.
Awesome restaurant - service was excellent (Mark Anthony was prefect, professional, knowledgeable, patient (1st time guests, we had several questions), helpful, friendly, and great follow-up… there are plenty of menu options. Steak Maui was sheer perfection, (tender and flavorful), the veggie burger was hands down one of the best I ever had. I have had several through the years at different restaurants in several different states… food network needs to come and highlight this one… J Alexander has managed to take the veggie burger to next level main character vibes! So, I have been searching for tasty fries for years, literally, it is near impossible to find real delicious fries… well, things are brighter because I found them here… YUMMY! Thank you for an all around great dining experience. The young man who took our reservations was great also, recently hired, but his friendliness and willingness to answer questions made me want to try the restaurant and I’m so glad we did!
Update: We visited here and had dinner since our first trip here. We had an appetizer of Calamari, A Meat Loaf Entree, and a Steak Maui 14oz. Entree with Mashed potatoes for the sides, a Caesar Salad and a Key Lime Pie. The food was excellent as always with great customer service by Francisco. We will definitely return again and would certainly continue to recommend people come here. We stopped in here yesterday for lunch. I had the Steak Burger with shoestring like fries and it was very delicious. The burger was moist and tender and had a great flavor. Fries were on point as well. Hubby had the Salmon Thai entree with BBQ Sauce and a side of Orzo and Wild Rice. He said it was very good and that the salmon was well seasoned and moist. The Orzo and Wild Rice side dish had cranberries and was also very good. We will definitely return and would certainly recommend. We started eating and it was all so good before we even remembered that we needed to snap pictures.
So I took my wife to J Alexander’s a couple years ago and she absolutely loves this place.I did too so when I planned my trip over to San Antonio I made sure to get reservations for us and family friends of ours. We went at 7 PM they were waiting ready for us. We got sat down and had a really nice seat and table. Our server showed up and was very kind. We started off with the appetizers. We got the deviled eggs and the artichokes. They were all super delicious. We ordered salads for us all with extra ranch, and they were very delicious. We moved over to our main course I had prime rib my wife had the fillet. Our friends had the steak Maui, and everybody was super pleased with their dishes. My friend loved the mac & cheese so much that he ordered another one of them. I had smashed potatoes with mine, and with that extra ranch that I had I pored it over the top. Yummy!!!! I have course ordered milk with my dinner cause I love milk with my dinner when we were all finished my wife ordered the carrot cake, and she absolutely loved it. Our dinner at J Alexander’s was absolutely amazing. We will always come back when we visit San Antonio.
The service was excellent and everyone was so helpful and professional. To me that is the key to enjoying a meal. The food is secondary, but oh my, our meal was fabulous. The calamari was fresh and breaded just enough. The steaks were made perfectly. We had a salad with the cilantro vinaigrette, which was amazing. The carrot cake is a must try. It was warm, moist and with melting frosting. AND you need it with a delicious cup of coffee!!

Outstanding service, food and atmosphere! This time it was my birthday dinner and I ordered the filet mignon and the wife had the pork tenderloin, and birthday carrot cake.
It had been years since I've visited this restaurant but I was not disappointed. Food was great, our service was great & the ambiance was pleasant. I will definately be back to try more dishes.

We have been here a couple of times. The food is good made to order. The service has been great every time we’re here. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Lovely atmosphere, ordered 2 appetizers, Both types of Spare ribs were really tasty! Hubby ordered Honey crispy shrimp with fried rice. Yummy! I ordered Pad Thai with beef shrimp n fried tofu. Noodles were abit under cook, but it was very flavorful. Alittle disappointed, but our server was pleasant and friendly. Ordered key lime pie and red velvet cake to go. Will come back to try other dishes next time.
Food was good. My wife ordered a New York strip medium rare that came undercooked. But, it was quickly remedied and she truly enjoyed to new steak. Service was ok, although we had to keep looking for the server or keep asking other servers for service. Overall, a good restaurant with reasonable prices and food food.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t start this review by complimenting the service. We went in the evening during peak dinner hours, and Brennon did an amazing job. His explanation of the daily specials and his menu recommendations were very welcome, and he was absolutely on point with everything from refills to clearing used dishes (he said, and I quote, “that’s the last time I let you go dry tonight” after I finished my first cola rather quickly—and by God he meant it, as I had full glasses for the rest of the evening). An absolute treat for our first time visiting. As for the food, it was very good, though the appetizers and side dishes really stole the show for us. Definitely recommend the deviled eggs if you’re stuck on what to order, and the chilled orzo and wild rice would probably pair well with just about anything on the menu (it’s mixed with cranberries and greens and is just so good). Our entrees were the seared ahi tuna and steak burger, and both were very good! The tuna was served as two steaks, and the only real nitpick we could give was that one was more well done than the other. The steak burger was cooked excellently, though it could have used just a little more seasoning on the meat. We had the carrot cake for dessert, which was absolutely excellent. The frosting was not too sweet, and the cake was thick yet fluffy. Definitely suited for two people, and was honestly rich enough to split three ways. All in all, a very good experience at *maybe* just a little too high a price point. Everything felt about $5 too expensive for what it was, but the service totally makes it worth it!

I remember when PF Chang's first opened in the 1990's and it was common to wait sometimes two hours for a table, but the food was soon good, it was worth the wait. Fast forward more than 25 years and there is no wait and you'll know why when you taste the food. The food isn't awful, but it is far from the amazing food they used to serve PF Chang's first began. We had lunch and the restaurant, which was quite large, was almost completely empty. Being that it is located in a shopping center, I would have thought they would be busier. We were seated right away and our server took our order for the chicken lettuce wrap appetizer. Again, it isn't like it used to be. I remember when they used to really get into making the sauce for you. They would ask how spicy you wanted it and then they would make it some what entertaining as they mixed the ingredients. Now they just drop off the appetizer and quickly mix a few liquids together. I would understand if the place was busy, but there was almost no one else in the restaurant so I don't know why the server was rushing. The taste was okay, but not as crispy as I remember PF Chang's from years ago. For our meals, we had the Chang's Spicy Chicken with rice and the Shrimp Lo Mein. The Spicy Chicken was okay; again, not the way it used to be when Chang's first opened. The chicken used to be big solid pieces of chicken breast with an amazing sauce. Now, I think they are just using pieces of chicken thigh and the sauce isn't as spicy as it used to be. The Lo Mein with the shrimp was good. The noodles were good with a tasty brown sauce and the shrimp, while not very many, and mixed in were some fresh vegetables. Overall, the food was okay, but not really any better than some of the fast food Asian restaurants. There are so many restaurants that when they first started, were absolutely amazing. But over time, as they expand their menu, they seem to lose the flavor and what made them so amazing in the first place. The restaurant itself was very nice and clean and our server was very friendly. But as I have seen the quality of PC Chang's decline, I don't see coming back.
I am extremely disappointed! 😞 After working a 10 hour Day, I decided to order dinner from PF Chang's for my family and I. Knowing it costs approximately $20 per person, I expected a good amount of food. As you can see from my pictures, we all had about six pieces of chicken in our orange chicken dinner plates. This is unacceptable for the amount of money we spent for this dinner. After spending $100 for dinner at a Chinese food restaurant, I expected a decent amount of food. I will never order food online for a carryout at P.F Chang's again! Next time we're going back to Pei Wei Asian Kitchen or Noodles and Dumplings.
Service was great. It was pretty busy yet everything moved smoothly. The taste of the lettuce wraps were off. We loved dynamite shrimp so the first order was wonderful second order not so much idk it was different. New black pepper chicken was good

Have been coming here since they opened. Good food. Good quality. Portions have shrunk and prices have gone up. Great place for business meetings due to location and d variety of menu.
The grilled artichoke was just amazing, and the orzo very healthy and fresh. The veggie burger looked great, but it was too crumbly. They were nice, but even after mentioning twice that we didnt want mayo in our veggie burger, since we dont eat animals nor their secretions, we end up having mayo in our bun. The menu is not vegan friendly at all, why it is so hard to be able to order something and making sure it is not going to have flesh or animal secretions? This type of places should start switching to a cruelty-free, healthy, plant based meals... and reducing or avoiding serving animal flesh or their secretions.
Disappointing Christmas Eve – Sub-par food and dismissive service We booked a 4:15 PM reservation for Christmas Eve, expecting a high-quality holiday dinner. Instead, it was a complete letdown from start to finish. I would not recommend this location if you are looking for a decent dining experience. The Service & Atmosphere: Our table was hit by a blinding sun that made it impossible to see or enjoy the meal. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, the dismissive response was to "just wait until the sun goes down." It’s unacceptable to expect paying guests to sit in physical discomfort maybe drop the blinds down. The Food (A massive disappointment): • Sold Out Early: Despite our early 4:15 PM arrival, they had already run out of their Christmas Eve food specials. Why offer a special if you can’t provide it. • Mac and Cheese: This was inedible. It was like a weird, flavorless soup—completely watery and lacking any real cheese flavor or texture and not sure where the macaroni was located. • Fish Tacos: These were mostly just a pile of slaw. They were heavy on the cabbage and the fish was barely available in the taco. Overall, the quality of the food was significantly sub-par. To have a holiday meal ruined by poor preparation and an indifferent staff was a huge disappointment. Save your money and go somewhere that values its guests.
Wanted to come here for a special celebration. They won't take a reservation for a party of 8. We did this in the past.
