We had a great experience at Kimura! The food was absolutely delicious: full of flavor and beautifully presented. From their ramen to their bowls, everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. The dish I ordered had the perfect combination of crispy, savory, and just the right amount of sweetness. Our order took a little longer than usual, but the staff handled it so professionally. They kindly brought us complimentary edamame while we waited, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Customer service like that really makes a difference. The team was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. Great food + great service = definitely coming back. Highly recommend if you’re craving quality Japanese food in a relaxed, inviting atmosphere!
Saw this place on Apple Maps while headed to the Tobin Center to watch a show. Decided to stop for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and delicious food. We sat at the counter area to watch the action in the kitchen. I ordered the Tantanmen Ramen and my husband ordered the Yakisoba with added pork belly and ajitsuke tamago. We also got to try the charred edamame on the house. Sooo good! We are convinced the best places are often off the beaten path. Thank you for adding to our wonderful date night! We will be back for sure!
I have been looking for real ramen since I left my visits to South Korea and Okinawa. Two different types both delicious, Kimura offered an experience that was right on par with what you would expect in Japan! The tantanmen ramen with house spice was DELICIOUS! I enjoyed this with Japanese plum wine, and gyoza. I wanted to go back on the same day it was so fulfilling. Customer service was good, food was served hot and quickly
On a Saturday, the line curled outside in a patient serpentine—an unspoken ritual of respect for what waits within. Yet it moved with the quiet efficiency of a Tokyo train platform: smooth, orderly, purposeful. Even before tasting, you feel the philosophy at work—precision without rush, intention without noise. Inside, everything speaks the language of Japanese cuisine: reverence for balance, devotion to detail, and an obsession with umami that borders on poetry. The broth is not simply cooked; it is composed—layered with depth, clarity, and restraint, each note placed with monk-like discipline. The noodles arrive perfectly tender, a vehicle for richness rather than distraction. Thick cuts of pork belly rest in the bowl like carefully chosen brushstrokes—luxurious, yielding, and deeply savory. The dumplings shatter delicately at first bite, revealing a heart that is warm, fragrant, and profoundly comforting. The atmosphere is calm, almost ceremonial. Portions are generous but never excessive, honoring the Japanese ideal that satisfaction should come from harmony, not excess. Service flows with grace and attentiveness, the kind that anticipates without intruding. And the price—remarkably humble for such devotion to craft—feels like a gift rather than a transaction. One spoonful of that umami, and memory awakens: five splendid years in Asia distilled into a single, perfect moment. This is food rooted in culture, shaped by discipline, and elevated by detail. Not merely a meal, but a quiet tribute to Japanese perfectionism—where richness is earned through patience, and flavor is treated as something sacred.
Freaking delicious 😋 lovely place to visit with that someone special. Intamit seating as well as open floor steating. when you walk in, you will have to stand in line and take turns to place your order at the register, but the line goes fast. my dish had the perfect amount of chili but it won’t burn your mouth. 😆
i go here all the time and i absolutely love it!! the staff is always very sweet and kind, and the food is soo freaking delicious too! 🫶 i look forward to visiting again!!
Had Ramen with pork broth and chicken for protein. A tiny bit on the salty side but very flavorful! Absolutely loved the grilled Bok Choy!!!
I ordered takeout from here while staying at an AirBnB around the corner. I liked their menu options—not too overwhelming with choices and some good vegetarian options. Upon picking it up, I was very pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. I would have loved to dine in the back. The employees seemed to be working hard. The food was great!
On the side of this building where this restaurant is located, there is a writing on the wall that says “support local”. So true! I encourage anyone to seek out local businesses and Kimura is one of those places that deserve a chance for your time & money. Contrast to the outside, the inside decor resembles traditional Japanese ramen shops. The ambience is on point and the food is equally fantastic. From popular Tonkotsu ramen to Rice Bowls, every option is delicious and a must try. This restart is the perfect place to dine in groups. The only negative critique is the parking. There is a small parking lot next to the restaurant, so if you get there during rush hour you may have to park somewhere else. Despite that, I found no other flaws when I dined there.
Restaurant came recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint. We liked the charred and spicy damage and the drink options with some unique twists, like the shishito margarita. Bella was nice in taking our order and getting us started. This was a 10 mile drive for us but we will be back because it was worth the drive.
This place was all around awesome! I loved the decor, music, friendly service, and the food was very good!! We will be going back here.

Great restaurant love it here! Very clean, delicious food, and the staff is welcoming and polite! Definitely recommend this place!

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food was pretty good but I gave it a 4 because I thought that some toppings were a bit odd, such as radish shavings, compared to what I typically see on ramen. I also thought only half an egg was kinda silly but it was yummy! We got the fried chicken and it was super spicy. Flavor was good but I’m a baby when it comes to spice but my boyfriend loved it. I got the tonkatsu and it feels just like a comfort food. The atmosphere was very relaxing and quiet. Definitely willing to go again and try some different options such as appetizers and drinks, and another bowl of ramen.
First time here. It was good. I would say the food was good nothing that I would go crazy over. Things happened but the waitresses were amazing at fixing and helping to make it up. Great customer service! The drinks were really good, try the old fashion. The appetizers were good too. I enjoyed these better than the main meal. I got the pork bowl. Appetizers were pork dumplings & chicken skewers.

I usually have good things to say about this place, but last night I took my fiance for the 1st time. We ordered the Tantanmen and some of the fried chicken bites they have. I can not pronounce the name. The broth tasted watered down and my chicken bites were horrible. They were burnt so we did not eat them. I order the same thing every time I visit which is quite often so I know what the food usually taste like. I called the restaurant to inform them and the girl that answered (not putting her name) said oh sorry thank you for letting us know. The proper response should have been let me replace your chicken. One of the pictures I am posting you can barely see the chicken but you know it's not burnt like the other picture. Very disappointed.

My experience with Kimura Ramen started off strong, and in the beginning, the restaurant truly felt exceptional. Unfortunately, over time, the quality of my visits has declined significantly. On at least three separate occasions, both my partner and I were served undercooked chicken. This was extremely off‑putting, especially for a restaurant that prides itself on quality and service. With over seven years of experience in the hospitality and restaurant industry, I can’t help but notice the lack of management presence during service. I rarely see a manager supporting the flow of the restaurant, and it shows. The current system, where staff seem to juggle taking orders, running food, and making drinks simultaneously, does not function well. A more structured approach with designated roles could greatly improve efficiency and guest experience. The most disappointing moment came during our last visit, when we were asked to leave because the restaurant was “too busy.” This is not good business practice, and it left a lasting negative impression. A manager’s involvement could have prevented the situation entirely. Sadly, after multiple issues with food safety, inconsistent service, and poor management oversight, my family and I will not be returning. I hope the restaurant takes steps to address these concerns, as the potential for a great dining experience was clearly there in the beginning.
This is a review from someone born and raised in Yokohama. The raamen wasn't bad it certainly wasn't the best for the price. I get that being in Texas and before here in CA $5 noodle is hard to find if not impossible. However Texas treats raamen as this near luxury food with Kimura being no exception. The cocktail menu looked good but no unadon was kind of saddening. The raamen was good, comforting and nice and warm. They only served half an egg that wasn't marinated and replaced iconic bean sprouts and bamboo shoots in accustomed to for shredded dakon. Interesting. Despite the odd looks from some of the customers at my loud slurping. The service was minimal which is by design. The atmosphere wasn't bad it's a mix of a family restaurant and an izakaya which is interesting I always find. They're $10 donburi isn't bad. Though comparing that to a near $20 tonkotsu is interesting. I think a humble noodle bowl of soy glazed spam for $5 and a pot of tea would bring menu variety try something new that's still comforting or so I think. Would I come back here again? Well would you pay 17$ for comfort food you can just make at home?
Disappointed the last time we went. Unfortunately they changed the way they make their katsu curry and it was not good. I'm not sure if they stopped using panko or what but the breading on our pork cutlet was awful compared to last time we came here. Won't be coming back for curry :( I wonder if they changed their recipe to cheap out or if they were just too busy and the quality dropped off. It's so sad because I loved their curry last time! For the price I expected better (like what we got last time) considering a bowl was about $17 without tax or tip iirc. Big portions but it doesn't matter when it's not very good.
This place looks very promising as you walk in. The restaurant itself is very nice, although the parking isn't great. I got the gyoza and katsudon and neither were very good. The gyoza was very greasy and the dipping sauce wasn't great. My katsu was very soggy. There was a lot of breading that was mushy and soaked through. The food overall was just bland, unfortunately.
Great ambiance, terrible food. I have mixed feelings about Kimura. On one hand, the building itself is absolutely stunning—old modern, rustic warehouse style, and well-designed. It’s one of those places you walk into and immediately feel like you’re in a trendy hotspot. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The food was a huge disappointment. I came in with zero expectations, and the meal was nothing short of awful. The gyoza dishes we ordered were soggy, ramen over-seasoned, and very difficult to eat. The textures were off, and nothing felt fresh or flavorful. The service was excellent, and we really appreciated that. It was the highlight of our experience at Kumura and made our time there worthwhile.
I hope it was just an off day… But I’m not going to come back to find out. Let me start with - I was starving! And I don’t know about yall, but normally food when I’m that hungry is amazing. However, we did not experience the same things as many others have in this review section. The only flavor we tasted in the miso, chicken broth, tantanmen, and tonkotsu broths was SALT. It was extremely salty, flavor was lacking.. The miso broth looked just like the chicken broth.. Only reason I think there may have been a bit of miso is because I saw miso paste on the edge of the bowl.. I’ll share the miso and chicken broth and you can take a stab at guessing which is which. I bet if I added the tantanmen broth in it, you wouldn’t be able to distinguish the three. Another issue was as we placed our order, the cashier addressed everyone in line and said they’ll be on a waitlist and they can have a seat while they waited if they wanted. Which wouldn’t have been an issue, but now they’re occupying seats, no food ordered, just waiting. Which left us to wait for a seat even though we had already ordered.
